((Both of us))
Kayan nodded biting his lip and watching Lemor. "You know... " He added nervously. "I can't even write out alphabet and here I'm trying to learn yours." He gave a nervous giggle.
///
Raen slid the hot cookies before the boy before ruffling his hair. "I think for something like that even I would have been tempted to punch him and with my history I think I would have been on the losing end." He stated. "No worries, we don't need to worry Kahil any more than neccessary though if I'm to give you my honest opinion I'd say Kahil doesn't give a damn what others say about him as long as he remains true to himself and his family remains at his side, you know. Sometimes there are things far more precioius than pride. I'm sure I can dig up some soothing cream for you lip if you like." He added casually.
~~~
Lemor shook his head. "Sometimes, one learns one language faster than the other. Even if you don't know how to write the letters of the earth language, you may do very well with this one. We'll see, hm?" He asked, handing over the pad of paper. "Try writing those.."
///
"You'd better. Kahil said to fix me up, and if he doesn't see something on this, he'll flip." He set the ice pack down, watching Raen. The guy was....easy to talk to. So much easier than talking to Kahil. With Kahil, he liked to argue and be stubborn. But with Raen...he could just, talk..
"Do you like Kahil?" He blurted out, before biting his tongue.
Kayan shook his head. "It's not that." He mumbled absently trailing a finger on the paper. "No one showed me how to draw the figures and I... I thought reading was more important... so I... I could learn how... to um... do something maybe. I never was very good at drawing and..." He let the rest hang, too embarrassed to continue.
///
Raen tossed a tube of cream at Jermani. "Like I said, Kahil worries about you. Someday when you find someone that means the world to you, you will understand though I suspect you may already understand but are loathe to admit it." He stated softly before sitting down and meeting Jermani's gaze head on. "Yes," He voice softened. "I do like Kahil, very much so. He hides behind all that uncertainty but if you look hard enough he is very much like you only you're dealing with things differently and with more confidence." He trailed a finger over his own cup of hot chocolate before taking a slow sip.
Lemor bit his lip before smiling. "It's okay. I'll show you the letters, alright? We'll work on drawing those earth letters, but I warn you, i'm not an artist myself.." He took another piece of paper, and slowly began to draw the earth alphabet. These were the only two languages he knew. He handed Kayan the pen then.
"Try those..."
///
Jermani caught the tube easily, and set the ice pack down in favor of smearing cream on his lip.He winced, and chose not to say anything after Raen was done speaking. He wasn't sure if he was okay with this guy liking Kahil or not. He liked Raen enough, sure, but having him like Kahil...it was wierd. After he tended to his lip, he cupped his hands about his mug, staring at the milky liquid.
"I should go. Kahil's probably having a cow worrying about me, and he'll get into trouble if he messes up a patient or something. He does things like that when he's stressed out." But even as he spoke, he was taking a cookie, more than comfortable, though it still hurt a bit to eat that cookie, or take a sip of his cocoa. He was trying his hardest not to look at Raen, because suddenly he was confused an that lost little boy he had been before. Because Kahil liked this guy too. He knew he did. He stuttered alot around him, and turned pink alot...and he was confused. Because Kahil didn't....there hadn't ever been anyone who stayed this long.
Kayan chewed his lip before moving the paper aside and staring at the first paper he had been handed, the one with Light's language written on it. He chewed his lip picked up a pen and shakily drew the first symbol resulting in a very squiggly version thereof.
///
"I don't intend to take Kahil away from you Jermani." Raen stated softly, stirring his cookie in his own cocoa before taking a bite. "You are very much part of the deal should we decide to take things further and have every right to have a say in the matter but before you do I would really like it if we could get to know each other better. I know I'm not the most manly of men, nor am I attractive or particulary famous or skilled but I like to think that I can be happy just the way I am."
"Well, that's good for a first try. Go ahead and do the other letters, and then we'll practice on straightening and strengthening your lines." He smiled and started drawing out more sheets of the letters.
///
"No on can be happy with themselves. Everyone always hates themselves for something." He stared at his cocoa before standing, snatching a few cookies.
"My lip feels better. I'm going....." He turned towards the door and touched the handle, before looking over his shoulder, tugging his backpack on.
"Kahil invited you to dinner, right? If not.....youshouldcome." He gushed, before he was gone, the door slapping shut behind him. He almost barreled into the receptionist coming down the hall, but side stepped around him and was off, escaping the clinic, short one apartment key.
Kayan chewed his lip frowning while he tried to draw the various characters on the sheets. He tried to concentrate on copying the way he had seen Lemor write them but he soon got confused and looked up at Lemor dejectedly. "I'm getting confused..."
///
Raen blinked at the boys words before shaking his head and standing. He slipped out the room and searched for Kahil. He paused at the receptionists desk as he suddenly remembered something. "I think Jermani forgot the key. Am I right? Could you find someone to go give it to him please?"
Lemor looked up from his sheets, at Kayans dejected face, before he set them down. "It's okay. We all got confused when we started out. It's part of the process, here," He scooted over to him, and took a hand in his. "You did very well on your first tries. Okay, jus relax your hand and i'm going to help you draw them over okay? We're going to trace my letters first so you can get the feel of how they're supposed to be."
///
"Oh, of course. Kahil's in room three. I'll have one of the nurses leave early to take it to him." He nodded.
"Take what..?" Kahil was leading his patient back to the desk. The tall life giver was giving him the once over as he stood there to sign out the papers. Kahil shifted in discomfort.
"Okay, that's it, you're good to go."
"Mani forgot the key. Raen was just asking me to have someone send it to him..." The receptionist spoke, to get Kahil's mind off of the giver, who showed up frequently for no reason at all. He would turn him away, but the clinic policy didn't call for it.
"Daedra can. I haven't given him a day off in awhile...just let him go home. We're not too, awful busy. A...and Raen's here," he glanced at said man thankfuly.
Kayan smiled in relief before nodding, eagerly following Lemor's instruction and falling into a calm relaxed state actually enjoying the time spent on the characters before him.
///
Raen glanced between Kahil, the nurse and the life giver that staring at Kahil. He could sense the tension from a mile away. Noticing the look the other was giving Kahil, Raen moved, subtly inserting himself between the life giver and Kahil thus also obstructing the others view of Kahil. "Hi, I'm Raen." He held out his hand to the life giver. "I'm new here and from now on I'll be in charge of life givers while Kahil takes care of life bearers." He smiled up at the life giver. "We, do, after all want to ensure comfort and understanding here." He turned to smile at Kahil hoping the other understood what he was doing and didn't take offense to the fact that he wasn't responding to Kahil's words. "Right Kahil?"
Lemor was glad to see him relaxed and enjoying himself. He took a hand and helped him through more, until they were laughing and having a good time. He hadn't ever enjoyed himself so much when working on letters.
They were interrupted after a bit by Light, whom slipped in. "All that laughing, I wasn't sure I had the right room," he grinned, holding a bag bearing the robes he's had made.
///
Kahil wanted to thank Raen profusely. Instead, he let his thanks show in his eyes, and turned a tight smile to the giver. "That's right. However, i've finished his exam, and he can kindly go." He felt so much safer with Raen between him and the other.
Daiba was a man of great wealth, and he stayed at the inn alot, and frequented he clinic. Kahil was terrified, and embarassed by and of him.
The man glared at Raen's hand, before snatching the papers from the receptionist, and bluntly striding out. Kahil visibly relaxed, relaxing against the desk with a sigh.
"He comes in here so much anymore, for things that don't need to be looked at, or made up things....h...he scares me."
"He scares everyone. We lost two nurses because of him. They quit right after he came in." The receptionist offered, tucking papers away.
"How was Mani?" Kahil asked, straightening.
Kayan blinked at Lightin surprise glancing at the bag and then down at all the papers before him. Suddenly he was self conscious. He had never told Light he wanted to learn to write. Heck he couldn't recall if he'd told Light that he can't write to begin with and all of this was bound to look strange. He chewed his lip, his laughter dying as he waited for Light to react.
///
"I know the type." Raen ruffled Kahil's hair fondly. "Good think he doesn't know I'm just a nurse, hey?" He teased lightly before addressing what Kahil really wanted to know. He was relieved the man had left. "Jermani is fine. The worst of the damage is the lip and that should heal rather quickly. Do me a favour, Kahil, don't ask about the fight please. I already spoke to him."
"Oh, don't let your fun go away because i've arrived." He moved over, and touched Kayans hair affectionaely. "You look like you're doing real well, even my letters don't look half as good when I write." He bent to kiss a cheek, before offering the bag. "I got you something...I hope you like it." The rest of te roll of fabric, what was left after the ceremony robes were made, was leaned against the wall outside, so a not to spoil the suprise.
///
Kahil opened his mouth to protest, and his brows drew down before he sighed, and nodded. "Mani doesn't talk to me well anyways....he would say it's just a fight. I won't ask." He wanted to be angry, but that wasn't fair. Raen handled the boy so much better. He didn't let emoions get in the way of getting to the root of the problem. And Raen was here to help, not hurt.
"Thanks...as long as he's fine." He took up his clipboard after the receptionist pencilled in a few names. "A break," he sighed, face lighting up. He lived for the breaks in between patients. "I know this isn't as busy as your hospital, but I still love when we have breaks.."
Kayan blinked blushing at the compliment Light gave him about the letters even though he knew it was probably far from true. He glanced at the packet before reaching out towards it uncertainly frowning. "You shouldn't have." He stated softly, embarrassed. "You've already bought me far too much.
///
"I'm not asking you to not speak to him." Raen stated softly picking up on how upset Kahil was even though the other didn't say as much. "I'm just asking you to give it a little time. You stress a lot and because you stress you make him stress. Give him time to sort himself out. He lost his parents and you lost your only family other than him. Suddenly the two of you are thrust together and I'm wagering neither of you truly had time to grieve. He'll be ok, Kahil. He loves you very much."
(Here's to assuming it contains robes made from the material Kayan liked?)
((Yep!~))
"This is really special though. For a special occasion." Light let Kayan take the package, and sat down to watch him open it.
///
Kahil bit his lip to press back the wave of tears he suddenly felt coming on. "T...thanks," he murmured, fiddling with his papers, sniffling silently.
kayan blinked in confusion before carefully opening the bag and reaching in. The frown increased at the familiar cool touch of soft material beneath his fingers. Pulling the material out he sent Light a quizzical glance when he recognised the material he liked. Unfolding it he gaped at the robes that now lay in his lap, hopeful, confused and surprised.
///
Raen shook his head before reaching out and embracing Kahil burying the others face against his chest and simply holding him loosely at the same time giving him more than enough freedom to escape. "You'll be ok. Both of you." He reassured gently.
Light reached out to stroke the material. "I um...I remembered what I suggested when we bought this, aout how it would be very lovely as the ceremony robes. So, I had these robes made. There is alot left, in case...but um.....what do you think? Would you wear these robes to our mating ceremony?"
He smiled, trying to gauge his reaction, though Kayan looked suprised....and so confused.
///
Kahil stiffened, before he grabbed fistfuls of Raen's clothes, and buried his face closer, the tears slipping down his cheeks. He drew in harsh breaths, shoulders shaking as he tried hard to stop crying. He felt so terrible, and he was soaking Raen's clean shirt.....he just....it felt so...nice to hear someone tell him that they would be okay.
