The boys words pierced his heart and made him clench his jaw. That hurt more than he cared to admit and he was intent on ignoring himself-what he felt for now-until he was more awake and was able to think properly. He allowed the boy to help him, limping as the other limped, feeling childishly weak for a life-giver. He wanted to know where the other was taking him. To his house maybe? He hoped not. The other scent was going to surround him and drive him up the wall. As they walked through the park and started on a street he tried hiding his skin from other pedestrians, tugging insistantly at his robes, making his hair fall over his face. He'd never intended to be out in broad daylight but now........
Light felt so comfortable with the boy against him like this. He found, much to his ever increasing confusion, that he would like to keep the other there forever. He wanted the other to look at him with those silver flecked eyes and smile...a genuine smile. Maybe be the one to bear his......oh Zerca! What was he thinking? Emerald eyes widened in realization. Could this be....did he dare believe he had been sidetracked to Earth because this was where his mate resided? It explained everything, brought it all into close focus.
He almost fell over in shock and elation, tightening his hold before remembering the other was hurt too. He loosened it and looked down. Yes....this boy was beautiful, and angel in words if not in mind. He was sure he could no longer let him out of his sight. He'd have to make the other come to believe him before he broke the news. If that took a day or even weeks he'd do it.

Kayan found himself snarling and baring his teeth at quite a few people along the way for many stopped to stare at the unusual sight. Suddenly Kayan paused, bitterly annoyed at all the nosey people. Turning his face so that he could glare at each in turn he yelled. “What the hell is your problem?! Never seen two people walking before? Go ‘f’ yourselves!” The sheer violence in his tone frightened most causing them to hastily turn and continue on their way, rather eager, all of a sudden, to leave.
That accomplished, Kayan adjusted his grip around Light before resuming their slow walk home. He had felt the tightening in Light’s grip as well as the slight shift in Light’s body weight earlier. He had assumed that the exhaustion Light exhibited was starting to become too much and so he gave the boy more support. He sighed in relief when his ramshackle place finally came into view, his body more than a little protesting of movement now.
Kayan shuffled them over towards a huge apartment block, bits of the wall falling off in disrepair. Pausing at the main entrance he keyed in a number before heaving the heavy metal door open and leading them into the repressive darkness. A faint shiver ran though him. He hated this place. The darkness, the depressive atmosphere and the sheer closed in feeling.
Kayan was not a fan of small enclosed spaces, dreaming of warm sunny open places with maybe a stream and huge willow trees. Those dreams aside, he would have thought he’d have gotten used to small dark places by now, being as that was all he could recall, but something deep within him simply refused to accept it.
Brutally shoving the longing aside Kayan began to make his way carefully up the cracked crumbling stairs, walking all the way to the tenth floor. He paused at a single cracked door, sliding in a small key. Turning the key and opening the door he led the two of them into a tiny apartment. It too had cracks in the wall, pieces of plaster crumbling off. It had one room, merged with a tiny kitchenette and a tiny bathroom to the side. It was sparsely furnished containing only a single low bed and a tiny fridge in the kitchenette. Even though the walls and floor was in a poor state the apartment was impeccably clean and the smell of detergent faintly in the air.
Kayan led Light towards the bed, carefully helping the other to lie down. Satisfied that the other was now safely down Kayan released him and headed to the kitchen, returning with a cracked cup containing water. “Here, drink this.” He stated shortly before leaving again, the sounds of a pot audibly from the kitchenette. Kayan scowled, making the stranger something to eat. He couldn’t fathom why when all he longed to do was hop into the shower and scrape last night off of himself. He cursed himself and his stupidity. It wasn’t as if he could afford to look after another when he could barely look after himself but found himself striving to do so anyway and that was what he could not understand.

Light was grateful with the way the boy seemed to chase off other pedestrians. He would've done it himself, trully, if he wasn't so tired! He felt bad for making the boy half carry him. He could tell that the other was tired and hurt too and the life-giver in him wanted to scoop the boy up and carry him off. Maybe back to Zerca....or Sensaforia...wherever he wanted to build his house. He leaned a bit of his weight off Kayan and followed the boy into a building. Was this his home?
He looked around as they went, taking in every little detail about the building. They had to go up several flights of stairs and even those were cracked. Usually he would've scrunched his nose at such a place but now....it this is where the boy lived he would be open minded. It gave him insight into the others life, let him see a little sliver. He settled on the bed gingerly and acceted the cup when the boy brought it, gulping it down to sooth the heat inside. He could hear the boy in the kitchen and tried to stand, getting dizzy before sitting back down. He would wait until the boy came back or maybe he could......force himself. He didn't want him tiring himself to take care of him. The other was hurting worse and he wanted to make it all better.
Light forced himself to sit up and pulled off his shoes, looking at his feet. There were several dark blue spots where blisters would begin to show. He frowned at them and sighed, rubbing hair out of his eyes. He'd stay awake until he could thank the boy....maybe ask for a name. He'd like to find out more about him to make sure what he was feeling was genuine.

Kayan frowned at the massacre of egg on the pan. Damn… how had he managed to screw up such a simple task? Especially when he knew he could cook and cook damn well. He cursed his wandering mind, seeing as that had been the last of his egg and just about the last of his food. Oh well, the stranger would have to make do. At least the egg wasn’t burned. The only mistake he had made had been stirring it too long so it wasn’t as soft and fluffy as he wanted it to be. Yes… so Kayan was a bit of a perfectionist when it came to preparing a meal.
Turning he reached for a single chipped plate, scrapping the contents of the pot out onto the plate and scrounging around in his cupboards finally finding the last of his food supply… a few crackers which he too added to the plate, turning and making his way out the kitchenette. He carefully carried the plate over towards Light, scowling as he walked. He placed the plate onto Light’s lap with care. “Eat.” He ordered shortly before, not even waiting for a response, he turned and walked into the small bathroom, slamming the door behind himself. Soon the sounds of a running shower could be heard throughout the dingy apartment.

Light watched wide eyed as the boy disappeared into the bathroom...or what he assumed was the bathroom. It was confirmed by the sound of running water. He looked down at the food, poking at it. What was it? No matter. The boy had made it for him and he was going to eat. Of course, he hadn't seen the other with a plate so.....it'd be nice to save him half, right? He decided that was true and split the food-first the eggs into two small piles, two crackers for each. He quickly consumed his half and slid the plate onto a small night table beside the bed. His stomach thanked him no matter how small the meal. It was delicious and he would be sure to thank the little human when he came back out.
He slid down on the bed and lay on his side, his robes covering him much as a blanket would. He curled his aching feel into the sheets below and buried his nose in the pillow. Ah...this was how the boy smelled. Untainted.....Light curled his arms around the fabric covered pillow a warmth stealing into the empath. He lay without walls, without protection to serve against the feelings that would be coming from the other. For some reason, this person didn't scare him as others did. Since the accident he'd always been detached. It was strange to find himself so interested in a small earthling.....Then again, if the other was his mate, as he suspected, it would make so much sense.

Kayan scrubbed his skin raw, desperate to get all traces of last night’s ‘activities’ off. He ignored both the discomfort caused by the ice cold water and the sunburned skin protesting the rough treatment. He even ignored the cuts and bruises, scrubbing them just as hard… His reasoning? They needed to be disinfected anyway.
When he could scrub no longer, his skin threatening to go blue from all the cold water, Kayan slipped out the shower and to a well stocked medicine cabinet (The only thing well stocked about his apartment). Taking out the bandages, disinfectant liquid and salves he began to work, bandaging some of the deeper cuts, mostly gathered around his thighs and simply disinfecting the others. Skin burning from the use of disinfectant on open wounds.
Hence, it was some considerable time before Kayan slipped out of the bathroom, smelling strongly of soap and disinfectant, thin, worn, loose pale blue pyjama’s hanging over his slim form. The pyjamas were carefully chosen hiding every bit of flesh except for his face and hands, hence hiding the bandages he had applied while in the bathroom. Kayan stopped at the sight of the left over food lying beside the bed. “You didn’t finish your food.” He snapped, scowling at light arms crossed before his chest. “That’s not good for you. You need your energy. Eat. I’ll go make tea.” Kayan turned, grabbing the cracked cup Light had drunk the water out of, and once more slipped out of the bedroom.
He didn’t know why but he was extremely uncomfortable with remaining in the same room with Light and unfortunately for him… fast running out of excuses to leave. Once he made the tea… there would be no excuses left open to him. The reason he kept running out he knew, was because he so desperately wanted to stay there. He was drawn to the stranger; he didn’t understand why, didn’t want it and could feel a faint fear of it… Kayan scowled down at the cup before him when he heard tinkle of the spoon hitting the sides while stirring. Why was he already finished making the tea? Why couldn’t it have taken longer? He wasn’t ready. Grabbing the cup in defeat he stormed back into the bedroom radiating anger… most directed at the cracked cup in his hands, the rest directed at himself.

Light frowned, face still burried on the pillow as he watched the other leave. The boy seemed to be avoiding him at all costs. Maybe....he should leave. He felt so connected and obviously the other didn't want him around. He shifted to push himself up, determined to talk to him when he came back. Even if he had to get angry all over again, he wanted to talk. He sat patiently and smoothed his robes. The boy had taken quite awhile in the shower and had smelled...funny. Whatever it was it had burned his sensitive nose and he was pretty sure it was some sort of medicine.
Brushing back his light hair he sighed. What was he supposed to ask the boy? Well.....his name of course. He had told him his name earlier, it was only fair he knew the name of the human who had taken him in. And maybe...learn why that man had been so mean to him last night. Was that his boyfriend maybe? Light wasn't sure because he knew humans were not like Zecans. Most human men did not like other men...right? They liked women.......Light shuddered and rubbed at his skin. The boy was coming back, he could hear his steps on the floor. "The rest of the food's for you," he murmured, emerald gaze locked on the other. Suddenly the others deep anger flew into him in a wave. The empath closed his eyes, shivering, his arms winding around himself. "Stop! Make it.....make it stop..." he bit into his lip and hastily tried building up a shield, tried to erect his walls. He'd never expected to feel the emotions so deeply from the other. It was giving him a headache and he curled tighter into himself, trying to escape.

Kayan's eyes widened, fear suddenly coursing through him. Without even thinking he rushed over towards Light's side, nearly dropping the cup in the process. Hastily putting the cup of warm tea on the floor beside the bed, Kayan reached out to touch Light in panic.
"Stop? Make what stop? Are you hurt? Where?" Fear and worry could be clearly heard in Kayan's tone. He didn’t want this stranger to be hurting and was desperate to help, but couldn’t find any visible wounds. Kayan hastily ran his hands over Light's form searching for injuries, and eventually resorted to brushing back the clothing, frowning at the darker spots of strange blue skin that was clearly not normal. He lightly traced over the darker bruises, wondering but doubting if that was the cause of pain.
Noticing the furrow on Light’s brow and correctly deducing that the man had a headache, Kayan hastily left the room to once more enter the bathroom and retrieve his first aid kit. Returning to the room he held out two white pills. “Here. There are for headaches.” He nervously chewed on his lip, uncertainty running through him. “I’m not certain if it will help but its’ all I have.” He said, timidly.

"No..." He relaxed ever so slightly, his weak shields erected as he accepted the pills. He gulped them down too tired to protest that his clothes were now hanging open. "Not bodily pain," he croaked. The others touch had soothed him, despite that he was the source of the pain in the first place. The boy had been worried about him. That made him happy and he slowly smiled his thanks, rubbing at his head. Should he tell him? Yes, he decided. It would be best because the other had been so kind. He didn't want him to worry if he had another spell.
"I....i'm an empath," he got out and cleared his throat, noticing how close the boy was. He could smell him-the soap he used, even the stuff he used to clean his clothes. "You were angry and...it hurt," he looked at him, emerald eyes still twinged in pain. The pills hadn't quite worked yet. "What's your name," he asked finally. The boy didn't look like he believed him. Well, if that was a shocker, what would he say if he told him he was an alien from a differnt planet, bent on taking him home with him and making him into his mate, his life-bearer.

Kayan was confused. Confused and sceptical but who was he to question insanity. Maybe the other was a little sensitive to his moods. The thought brought on a bout of guilt, he had after all been, fuming mad. Angry at the turn of events that had disrupted his life. He dropped his gaze rather ashamed to think he was the cause of the others pain. He had never wanted to cause anyone pain. He roughly cleared his throat, blindly reaching out to straighten the robes he knew the other had left untouched, wanting to restore at least a semblance of dignity and order.
"Kayan." He stated rather abruptly when it seemed the silence in the room would continue forever. "My name is Kayan." Kayan turned away, gathering himself together and resuming his usual uncaring outward face while inside confusion, uncertainty and shy timid emotions fought for dominancy. He reached for the plate and turned back around, now looking Light straight in the eye, his disguise in place. He carefully placed the plate onto Light's lap. "Eat it." His voice was less harsh than it had been earlier. "I don’t want it. It will make you feel better and you need it." Reaching down again he retrieved the abandoned cup. "I also made you tea. I don’t have sugar or milk so you will have to take it black." He paused but his eyes seemed to add a silent 'I'm sorry' that he himself was too proud or maybe to afraid of vulnerability, to say.

Kayan....such a pretty name for a beautiful boy. Light didn't say it out loud. The boy seemed too embarassed and uncomfortable with him already. He looked down at the plate and sighed. "Fine, i'll eat, but I insist on a chair. You look like you need the bed. i am, after all, not the only one hurting here....." He enjoyed the sympathy in those midnight eyes and wondered if he could envoke other reactions in the boy. He picked up the fork and picked at the food.
"Thank you. I don't require anything for it. You made it under such gracious terms, it would be rude to ask for such things." He fell back on the ettiquete taught to him since he could understand words. He didn't know what to make of the boy. Kayan had been so caring just a minute ago but now, he seemed so distant. Light didn't like that distance. In fact, if the boy didn't seem like he had been hurt more than once in his life, he would've tried to get closer faster. Right now, he felt like taking this thing slow...whatever this thing was. He couldn't be totally sure the other was his mate until something happened to test his...almost claim. He took a bite of the now cool food and smiled softly. "You cook wonderfully. Thank you for all you've done. I intend to repay you as soon as I...can..."

Kayan sunk down to the ground, resting his arms on the bed and his head in his arms. "Don't have a chair." He informed Light in a matter of fact manner. "But I'm comfortable here, thanks." Kayan retorted forgetting to respond aggressively. He glanced up at Kayan through midnight strands of hair eyes clearly trying to figure the stranger out.
He suddenly gave the barest hint of a smile, mind still trying to figure out his strange fascination with Light and for some strange reason unable to help himself. "I ruined those eggs actually." He informed Light. "Mixed them too long." He scowled at Light as he remembered why he had ruined the eggs. "I was distracted. Why am I so drawn to you?" Kayan repeated his earlier question.
"Have you put some form of spell on me? You're awfully polite and that doesn't make sense but..." Kayan allowed his words to trail away unable to put into words what he was trying to say. "If you want to repay me... take this spell off... that's all I ask." Kayan scowled at Light... trying to find a reason for his strange emotions, behaviour and fascination. "I mean... your skin is blue and that doesn’t even seem all that strange to me. It feels like that’s exactly what it’s supposed to be like! How can that not be strange?" Kayan demanded, not knowing how to figure all this out and not liking feeling like he had lost all control of the situation.

"Spell?" Light cocked his head and finished up the....eggs? We're eggs from some sort of animal? If he weren't half Sensaforian that would be bad. He set the plate on the stand agains when he was done, feeling alot better now that his stomach had something to digest. "I assure you I did no such think....." he blinked for a second, staring at the boy. Kayan was adorable, that much he could see. He found that he didn't want to let the other get hurt anymore and he was going to stick by it. This was the perfect time to....
Light leaned down to his level. "Actually, maybe we're under the same spell. Since the time I saw you last night I felt something....is that wierd? It's not where I come from. We believe solely in love at first sight and I....I think we have a connection no one else can intrude on." He said it simply, trying to test and see how Kayan would react to that. If he did it badly, he'd say no more and try to convince him. If he reacted good than maybe he could reveal a bit more....

Kayan blinked, drawing back in surprise at Light's unexpected movement forward. He frowned at the other's words. "There is no such thing as love." Kayan stated abruptly. "Lust? Maybe. Love? No." Kayan stood up, grabbing the plate and taking it to the kitchen, bitterness coursing through him at Light's words. There was no such thing as love, everybody just used one another in order to gain something. He slammed the plate down onto the sink taking deep breaths in order to calm himself down. But damned if he hadn't felt something tug at his heart strings at those words.
Kayan reached into the sink and washed the plate, stacking it to the side to dry. Unable to find any other distractions, Kayan took a deep breath, straightened his slumped shoulders and returned to the bedroom, suddenly very tired. He made his way over to the bed and resumed his earlier position on the floor, head in his arms, leaning on the bed. He sighed, closing his eyes and let his mind drift, waiting for Light to speak again.

Okay, so it hadn't went as he planned. But then, that would be underestimating the other wouldn't it? Light groaned at the words and fell back on the pillows. He had his work cut out for him if he wanted to make the other understand what mates were and what his role in Lights coming to Earth was. The anger was once again draining in past his weak shields and he sighed in defeat. There was only one thing he could do for now. Make sure the other didn't go out tonight with any other man. That, he found, made him intensly jealous and he didn't like that feeling at all. He would get all possessive because here, he had finally found his mate and the other was entertaining other mens company. It made him cross and he brooded into the pillow, listening to the sound of Kayan washing dishes.
Ther was a love! The boy just hadn't felt it nor found it yet. By the time he had to leave, he would have to have Kayan convinced or else he wouldn't be going home until he did. He'd wait forever for the other if he could. He watched the boy come in, his dark eyes preceptive and his empathy tuned to the others feelings. Extreme tiredness washed over him and he frowned when he found Kayan once again kneeling, midnight eyes falling shut. That wasn't right. He knew the boy was in pain and he wasn't about to let him sleep crouched on the floor as he was.
Standing, sliding off the bed, he didn't give any room for protest as he scooped him up and dumped him gently on the mastress. "Now you've been so kind and hospitable to me, it isn't right that I steal your bed when you're in pain." He pulled the blanket up over Kayans body and satisfied, perched on the edge. "See? i can sit here while you sleep and I don't even have to bother you. You can rest as you please and help your body to heal." He lay his head against the headboard and closed his eyes on comfort. This way, he could tell if the other tried to sneak out to do....whatever it was he did. He had a feeling the others job was letting men take their pleasure from him and he had a mind to stop it. He was the only one who would be touching him from now on.
