Lost (Kai/Alex)

[Alex Nephel]

Alex lay comfortably in his black leather chair. Music came out of the silver headphones into death ears, for the boy was sleeping soundly. Well, he was until a loud yell was heard.

“We’re here!” Seri, his AI, yelled. A boy with blue hair that fell into his ocean blue eyes appeared before Alex.

“Already?” he yawned and stretched out his arms and legs. He worked for his stepparent’s business, a delivery company, slowly trying to work his way to the top. Sure, they could just appoint him the CEO of the company but Alex felt he needed to work his way there, to gain experience of how the company worked. Besides, that way, he wouldn’t feel guilty for taking the placed of someone who had worked hard to get to the top, only to be taken away by some brat that had no idea what he was doing.

Last night, his stepparents asked him to deliver something to the planet Jeskara. He was one of the only people actually willing to go to the dark planet, so here he was.

Bobbing his head to the music, he stepped out of the ship with a box his arms, completely unfazed by the lust-filled gaze of some passing Incubus. He even waved cheerfully to some.

Alex dropped off the box and left to go back home, only to find out he was utterly lost. Well, while he was here, why not explore the place. He sighed and blew a strand of hair away from his eyes. It flew away from his eyes for a second or two, but fell right back into place. He glared annoyingly at the offending strand. Due to not looking where he was going, he hit something, or rather, someone. The boy desperately flailed his arms around, trying to find something to hold on to. He clutched at the shirt of the person he bumped into, making the stranger fall down on top of him.

Kai came to visit his parents and younger brothers after a couple of years of not seeing them. He was a bit excited to see them but a bit worried because by the time he had moved out his parents had wanted him to find a mate by the time he came back to visit them. This worried him more and more as he walked down the dark street. He looked around through his grayish bangs with light blue eyes which seemed odd for a Vampyres...but he really didn't care. He wore all black long sleeves and pants...well just for today which wasn't odd for him to do. He rarely minded lustful glances from the Incubus since he seemed to get them all the time.

As he walked he seemed to notice someone who seemed quite out of place on Jeskara. Somehow he tried not to pay any mind to the other. He couldn't help to the fact that the other looked really lost and might have needed help...which was something he could have offered to him. He would have but wasn't sure if the other would have accepted it. Kai just kept walking this time he lowered his head to take his attation of the other which was a pretty big mistake. Not only had he bumped into someone but that person at grabbed his shirt and pulled him down with them. He looked at the other and realized it was the boy who seemd out of place when he was walking. He stared at the other for a while wondering if he should apologize for bumping into him.

Alex reopened his eyes when he hit the hard ground. Pulling his hand from under the man, he touched at the bump forming on his head and winced. Ow, I'm so going to have a headache tommorow.

The boy looked back up to meet blue eyes. A smile tugged at his lips. They were really pretty eyes, like the endless sky. It wasn't very common for most Jeskarans, maybe he wasn't from around here. Then again, he did have the all black thing going, unlike his bright turqoise shirt and white pants. He'd been spacing out, staring at the man's eyes. A tint of red brushed his cheeks as he darted his eyes around. "Uh, s-sorry about that. Um, I wasn't really looking where I was going," Alex said quietly.

The people around them were ever glaring at them for laying in the middle of the street or smirking at them. Now why would they be smirking? Sure he fell and made the guy land on top of him but he didn't see what was so interesting.

Kai stared at the boy for a moment before even realizing he has said a single word. "No...I mean it's not all of your fault some of it was mine," He looked at the boy who seemed to be looking at everyone around them. Kai decided to look at everyone as well and realized that they were looking at them with smirks on their faces. Of course he knew the reason they were smirking at him and the other but the boy seemed confused about that. Kai stared at them with his light blue eyes...but like aways his grayish bangs got in the way he didn't bother to move them.

After a couple of minutes of staring at everyone he made the decision to get off the other...so he did. He didn't move too far from the boy all he did was sit next to him hoping everyone would go back to what they were doing...which they did. Maybe it was because he didn't want to leave the other alone if it was his frist time on Jeskara surely he didn't want the other to get picked up by an Incubus. Kai look at the other through his bang like he normally did to everyone. Of course he forgot to wear his bandana which helped keep his bangs back. "My name is Kai, Kai Hikari." He told the boy politely since it was just in his nature to be that way. "Are you lost?" He hoped to find out a little bit about why the boy was here, if he really was lost, and why he was here to begin with also maybe what planet he was from.

When the man decided to get out of him, Alex sat on his legs, moving his upper body from side to side, listening to the man introduce himself. Kai huh? Kai. Kai. Kai. Kai. Kai. Heh, I like that name. Outside, a stupid grin was plastered on his face as he rolled the name around in his head. “I’m…uh…Alex,” he said with a small smile. “And, uh, yeah, I’m…lost, but I’m sure I can find my way back.”

The boy gently hit his upper thigh with his wrist, muttering, “Eventually.” He accidentally hit the play button with his wrist and soon, music was blaring through his headphones that lay on the ground in front of him.

Alex fumbled through his pockets to try to get it to stop. It fell on the ground with a thump.

He couldn’t think as he pushed random buttons on the CD player. He was absolutely sure everyone around him could hear the blaring music.

I'll leave my room open till sunrise for you
I'll keep my eyes patiently focused o…

He finally hit the right button and sighed. Looking over at Kai, he put a hand behind his head and gave an apologetic smile.

Kai looked that the other in cofusion on why he had a smile on his face from him just saying his name. Was there something funny about his name? He heard the other introduce himself as Alex and seemed to think it was an interesting name. "Well Alex it's nice to meet you," He started then looked at him. "Are you sure you'll be able to find your way back?" Kai was a bit worried if the boy would be able to find his way back or that he'd have a run in with an Incubus...which wouldn't have been any fun for Alex.

He sat there staring for quite a while but even though he was a bit out of it he was brought back the sound of music coming from the other. When Alex started to fumble around trying to find something in his pockets he just stared at him. When the music finally stopped Kai looked at Alex who had the "I'm sorry about that" smile on his face. Kai stood up and was going to start walking again...but he was a bit afraid to go to his parents house and even more to leave the other by himself.

Alex dropped his hand in his lap and watched Kai get up. He expected him to leave but he just stood there. The boy tilted his head in confusion, watching the silver-haired man in front of him. He seemed to be thinking, contemplating something. Alex stretched his hands behind him, leaning all his weight on his arms. A strand of hair fell in his face and he glared at it, trying to blow it away, but failed. He huffed.

Suddenly, a sharp pain ran through his hand. He snatched both his hand away in case someone steps on them again. Without the support of his hands, he fell to the floor, again! And that blasted strand of hair was in his face again. He sighed. Today wasn’t going very well.

Deciding to get up before anything else bad happened. Alex got to his feet and looked at Kai, who still seemed to be thinking about something. He tapped the man’s shoulder, tilting his head to his right and blinked. His face was pretty close to Kai’s but Alex didn’t seem to notice. “Penny (or whatever currency they have here) for you thoughts?”

Even though Kai was still deep in thought he did manage to hear the other fall back on the ground but didn't look his way. Of course he wasn't sure if the other wanted to come with him or stay here by himself and try to find his ship. Then a image of his parents came into view...maybe they were a bit upset because he hadn't found a mate yet? Nothing was ever sure with him but if he just showed up at their house with Alex that would think that the other was in fact his mate.

Even after Alex had stood up Kai seemed not to realize that either nor did he realize how close the other was to his face. He was brought back by the other tapping his shoulder and saying something. "Uhh..." Kai looked at the other in the eyes. "Sorry I was just thinking of what my parents are going to say to me when I get to their house and the find out that I still dont' have a mate yet." Of course Kai wasn't sure how old the boy was but he wasn't about to ruin it if the other was younger then him. "Do you wish to meet my parents? I'm sure they'd like you and you get something to eat if you're hungry." He started at Alex waiting for a reply more or less he was hoping the other would say yes to his offer.

“Why? Do you think your parents would be mad if you didn’t have a mate? Maybe they just want to see you happy with someone. All parents want to see their kids be happy,” Alex shrugged, drumming his fingertips on the side of his leg. It seemed he just couldn’t keep still.

As for his second comment, Alex beamed. “Oh, I’d love to meet your parents! That is, if it’s not too much trouble.” Without waiting for a reply, he grabbed the man’s hand and ran towards a random direction, whether it was the right way or not, grinning the whole time. And that was his own way of telling people that they were his friends now.

"Oh sorry the only reason they would be mad because I didn't have a mate yet is because the told me that by the time I came back to visit them I should have one since I'm 20." Kai realized he as slipped out his age but it probably didn't matter to the other.

The reason he felt it didn't matter was because before he could say anything else. Alex seemed really happy that Kai wanted him to meet his parents. Well really happy if he just decided to drag Kai off with out knowing which way Kai was orignally going in the first place. "Hey slow down! We have go the other way!" Kai hoped that he could get through to Alex as they ran.

As Alex was running, he thought he heard Kai say something but wasn’t sure. He suddenly screeched to a halt, causing Kai to bump into him and, yet again, cause him to start falling. The boy wildly grabbed at his friend. He managed to onto his shoulder and hoist himself on his feet. He clasped his hands behind the man’s neck and dropped his head on his chest. “Seems I can’t stop falling since I met you,” he sighed.

Alex lifted his head and looked into Kai’s sky blue eyes. “So, what did you say?”

Kai wasn't sure if Alex heard a word he had said. When the other had came to a sudden halt and almost causing the both of them to fall again. "It seems that way," Kai said looking down at the boy who seemed so close to him.

"When we were running I said we had to go the other way. It seems you were to cought up in wanting to meet my parents to wonder what way to go." He repeated himself with a smile on his face looking at Alex with his light blue eyes through his bangs.

“Heh, sorry. When I get excited, I don’t think and…uh…stuff happens. Yeah, um...”
Alex noticed people smirking at them again. Seriously, what was with these people and smirking at them? “You know, people also seem to smirk at us a lot too. I wonder why?”

The boy pondered but was knocked out of his thoughts only a few seconds later when someone bumped into him. He opened his mouth to say sorry but before he could, the man sneered. “Get out of the lovebirds.”

“Why would he call us lovebirds?” Alex asked. He looked at the position they were in. They were a few inches apart with Alex’s hand still clasped behind Kai’s back. Nope, not a clue. “Anyways, why don’t you lead the way?”

"I see," Kai just kept looking at him. He just couldn't get the boy out if his mind let alone wanting to be away form him. Kai wanted to tell Alex the reason why they were smirking at them but he decided to save that until they got to his parents house.

When a man bumped into them and called them loverbirds Kai just always seemed to get what they meant my saying it to them. Still he didn't want to tell the boy what they meant until he got to his parents house and he set his mind to it.

"Of course I'll lead the way it'll work out better the way." Kai said ignoring Alex's first question about why they were calling them loverbirds. "Come this way," He grabbed the boy's hand knowing that it would draw more attation towards them but he didn't care...just as long as he was with Alex.

Alex let the vampyre take his hand and lead the way (now that I put it like that, it doesn’t sound like such a good idea…well, if Kai were evil). As they walked to Kai’s parent’s house, he kept thinking why the man called them lovebirds. Darn, this was going to bug him for the rest of the day.

He looked at his and Kai’s hand locked together and he could start to feel a blush rise and had no idea why. Kai made him feel a lot happier than usual and his stomach would start of flip-flop. He made him feel strange, but in a good way.
