Joey sighed as he walked the darkened streets of his small town.
It was Christmas break, and sleet was falling from the sky in frozen torrents. He missed Christine and Ocean, but Chrissy was away with her family on a cruise and Ocean was probably still banging his new boyfriend somewhere.
He pulled his hat more securely over his ears and looked up into the sky. It was pitch dark, and one couldn't even see the moon. Puffing out a breath of steam, he plugged in his iPod touch, listening to one of his random playlists as he headed back to his dorm. He was so zoned out, he didn't register the small figure walking near him until they collided.

It was all his brothers' fault. Why couldn't they go out and get this stuff themselves? Because they liked to tease Jel-lo, that's why. Wouldn't it be safer for them, two big strong givers, to come and search for supplies instead of sending their small, younger, barer brother out. Jel-lo shrugged.
It wasn't that he minded being the gopher for his brothers' ship (both their mates were pregnant, they needed to stay close with them) it was just that it was cold and this planet was making him more nervous than any other planet he'd visited with his brothers. Plus it was cold!
While deep in his thoughts, he didn't notice the boy walking his way until it was too late to stop. Orange eyes widened as he collided and fell to the street on his bum from the impact.
"Huh."

"Whoa!" Joey said in surprise, looking down and pulling out his earphones. He saw what looked like a kid with purple hair on the ground. "Sorry about that, kid." he said, reaching out a hand to help the boy up.
"I didn't see you there, I was a bit zoned out." he smiled, holding up his iPod. "My bad."

Jel-lo just blinked a couple times up at the blonde native fighting whether or not to take the stranger's hand. Deciding it wouldn't do any harm, he took it muttering something along the lines of, "I'm not a kid."

"Oh? Well, sorry about that then mate, you're just a bit...small. No offense though." he smiled. He looked at the guy, he really did look like a little kid, but he was kind of cute.
"I'm Joey Montana, and you are?" he asked.

Jel-lo just blinked a couple times down at his hand. He wasn't suppose to talk to the natives, better yet tell him his name.
Hmm, decisions, decisions. Jel-lo shrugged, it couldn't hurt if it was only his first name, right? "Jel-lo."

Joey tried not to laugh at the name, he really did. But a small chuckle broke out of him."Jell-o? Like the dessert?" he asked, cocking his head.
"That's an interesting name," he said, thinking it rude to laugh at the guy. He seemed so serious. And what was up with those strange clothes? "You must be freezing. Do you want to go get some hot chocolate, something to warm you up? It's like 24 degrees out here and you're in a jacket. I know this place around the corner from here that has the best Hot cocoa and coffee in town. It'll be my treat." he smiled.

Jello was a dessert? He'd never of that before. So did that make him food or something on this planet? Jel-lo shook himself mentally. He really should be getting back, but he'd heard of this cocao thing and he was cold and warmth sounded so tempting right now.
Hmm, well, he could say he had a hard time looking for what he was sent for if he took too long. His brothers may tease him a lot, but they were never really hard on him.
"Sure," he answered after a few minutes of contemplation.

Joey smiled. "Alright then, Jel, my man, let's go." he smiled, leading the purple haired boy around the corner and a few blocks down to the Vanilla Rose Cafe.
Opening the familiar glass doors, he walked in smiling from the warmth.
"Hey Joey!" Karen, the owner called as she headed out. "Get Analise to make you and your friend some coffee, I'm heading out."
"Alright, Ms. K, see ya!" Joey smiled, going up to the counter. "Hey Ana! Two hot chocolates here, with all the trimmings!" he called out to a red-headed girl.
"Alright Joey," she sighed, going to the machines and making the chocolate slowly. Joey pulled off his heavy coat, setting it on a barstool and plopping into one, patting the seat next to him. "Come on up, dude. Rest yourself." he smiled warmly as Analise placed two hot chocolates in front of Joey. She looked at Jel-lo. "Who's your friend?" she asked.
"This is Jel-lo," Joey motioned to the guy.
Ana rose an eyebrow. "Like the dessert?" she asked.
"I guess so," Joey grinned, sliding his mug over to Jel-lo. "Try it, it's really good." he smiled

Jel-lo took the offered mug and glared at it. His name was perfectly fine. It was unique, and no Zercan had it. That's when he started wondering where his parents came up with such a name.
Frowning, Jel-lo took a sip. His eyes widened before he took another and turned to the blonde beside him. "This is good," he said, wide orange eyes sparkling before he downed the rest.

Joey laughed. "See, told ya so." he smiled, looking at the boy's wide amber eyes. He'd never seen contacts that color.
"You're not from around here, are you?" Joey observed.

Jel-lo stiffened. Maybe he should leave now, it may be getting too dangerous hanging out with the native.
"N-no, I'm not. I, uh...I got to," but something was holding him back from finishing those words.
He stared into the green eyes of the blonde boy confused. "I, uh..."

Joey leaned his head on his hand, watching the guy. "Alright, don't spazz out. I was just asking. You don't usually see folks around here with orange contacts and dyed purple hair." he shrugged.
"So, where you're from is a tetchy topic, so how about how old are you? You look to be around my little brother's age. Sixteen, seventeen, maybe?"

"It's natural," Jel-lo replied, "and I'm an adult."
He started messing with his fingers making random shapes with them. It was something he did when he was talking to people. It helped him not get nervous.

"Your hair? I've never met anyone with naturally purple hair." Joey said, watching the boy. "So on that front I'm skeptical. But, if you are an adult, I'd put you at eighteen." he said, pulling off his hat and running his fingers through his thick white blond hair.
"So...are you celebrating Christmas with family you have here?" he asked. "The mountains are gorgeous during the Christmas Eve festival." he smiled.
