Taki smiled softly when the boy finally peeked out at him. The man scooted closer and stroked soft silver hair, wiping a tear from one of Chiaki’s eyes. “Sweetie, it’s quite alright if you cry. First of all, you’ve just been mated. The changes your body goes through after that throws you into quite a few mood swings-believe me I’ve been there. You in no way seem like a child, and I know Devon doesn’t think you’re weak. He could never think anything like that about the one he loves. So cy all you want, get out those bad feelings because he will love you even if you cried every day. Now, your stomach……it’s gong to feel funny for about the first two months. You’re pregnant after all and that’s no cake walk. I’ll scrounge up the herbs I used when I was pregnant with Devon.” He tapped a nose.
“And don’t fool yourself into thinking Devons this big macho kid who knows how to take care of himself. He’s still living with mommy after all, hm? And he cried just as much as you are when he was your age. It took him awhile to come to terms with the differences he has from normal human children. You’ll understand one day when he shows you, but for now, don’t go believing that you’re a child who can’t take care of yourself.” He tucked the covers back up under the boys chin and stood, going to root in the medicine cabinet. He came back with a small bottle of herbs which he mixed in tea that he’d brewed earlier.
“Here you are….drink this down and it’ll settle your stomach. Expect some morning sickness though, for awhile until the baby gets big enough…”
In the next room Devon laid awake, hands behind his head, listening to the soothing tones of his mothers voice and the wobbly, heart wrenching ones of Chikai’s. He couldn’t understand what they were saying through the walls, but he hated that Chiaki didn’t feel comfortable enough telling him whatever he was telling his mother. Had he been that horrible of a mate that the boy couldn’t trust him? He’d gone and made their whole relationship revolve aroud sex was what he’d done, and Chiaki must be thinking him a perverted lecher, or maybe Chiaki didn’t want to be around him anymore….That hurt and Devon rolled over, getting out of bed to dress for work. He pulled on a net top, a dark tank top underneath and black jeans with little chains adorned into the seams. His fingernails he quickly painted black and lined underneath his crimson eyes with kohl. He slipped on a pair of comfortable sneakers before closing the door behind him, going to the room Chiaki was staying in.
Devon leaned against the door jamb. “I’m going to go into work an hour early, rack up some overtime. Chi can sleep in my bed if he’d rather. I’ll be home early in the morning if Jackie will let me leave. If not, take Chi to the bookstore with you, alright? I don’t want him left here alone, he’ll get bored and not want to stay around anymore…” He smiled sadly, waving a little. Devon desperately wanted to give his little mate a goodbye kiss but it didn’t look like Chiaki wanted any contact with him right about now…
“I’ll talk to you in the morning angel. Get some rest.”

“Mood swings don’t sound good…” muttered Chiaki. “I don’t want Devon to think I can’t take care of myself when he’s not around and I don’t want him to keep worrying about me. I…don’t want to make myself into a burden…and I don’t want to cry anymore. Crying only makes me feel worse about things, so I want to stop crying, but it’s hard. I always end up crying anyway and looking like a baby… I’m scared, you know? I didn’t know boys could have babies… That teacher lied to me! I should have known! She always had shifty eyes…”
He liked this person. Devon was lucky to have a mother this kind and caring. His own mother wasn’t good at comforting people. She tended to say the wrong thing and made people feel worse about their situation. That’s why Chiaki didn’t talk to her anymore. That and she was never home anyway. Sometimes, he wouldn’t see her for very long periods of time. It almost felt like he didn’t have a mother. But Taki made him feel like he really did have a mother. It was a nice feeling to have and he wondered how some people could take advantage of such a gift they were given. The boy smiled at the other, feeling better already. He had thought he’d end up unhappy the entire day, but the other had really made his day now. The boy was out of the blanket altogether now, not finding a need to hide anymore, though his hair was a mess now. It was sticking in odd directions, though Chiaki thought it looked fine, mostly because he had never bothered to do anything to his hair in the first place. The boy had already given up on doing things to his hair a long time ago and simply brushed it now.
“Eh? Did Devon really cry?” He asked, surprised. “He seems…very strong. Eh? Not human? What do you mean?”
He took the tea when it was offered to him and took a sip. It wasn’t that bad so he began to gulp it down. He came from a long line of tea drinkers. His family had always had tea at the same time every day since as long as he could remember. Even when they weren’t all together, which was most of the time, they always drank tea. For the most part, Chiaki would find himself alone while drinking tea, but he didn’t mind since it was quieter that way. Too much noise always ruined the tea drinking experience for him. That’s when he heard the other come in. His grip on the cup tightened slightly. He was feeling rather shy with the other right now. It wasn’t just what had happened before, but he didn’t know what the other must think of him now. Of course, he noted that the other was leaving and he didn’t want that. Work was important, though. He knew that the other had to work or he wouldn’t make money. Chiaki wasn’t stupid. He knew people couldn’t afford things like his family could. They certainly made lots of money but only did stupid things with it. He admired Devon for not being like them. They were so materialistic and it bothered him.
The boy set the cup down on the nightstand. He slipped out of the bed and walked over to his mate. He wrapped his arms around the other in a tight hug. He didn’t want Devon to think he was mad at him or anything like that because he wasn’t. He’d been upset, but not angry, and it wasn’t like any of it had been Devon’s fault. Chiaki hadn’t been feeling like himself. He supposed that even now, he was still in a state of shock. There were things he just didn’t want to accept and this was one of them. The thought of being abandoned really hurt and he didn’t want to keep feeling such a horrible emotion, but it stayed deep in his heart anyway. It was hard to accept that his own family didn’t want him anymore, but he didn’t want to talk about it. He just wanted to keep it locked away until it went away. It wasn’t the healthiest thing to do, but it was all he wanted to do now. The boy released the other from his grip and smiled at him.
“Do your best Devon,” he told the other softly.

Taki laughed gently at the boy, eyes dancing with his mirth. He didn’t want to sound rude, but Chiaki was just adorable, and so innocent. “Usually, boys cannot have babies,” he explained. “But in your cases, and not because you’re not a boy, it is possible. When you mated my son, your body made itself ready to accept his child. Because my son is Zercan, you will bear his children. And hun, it’s alright if you cry. It’s natural and no one’s going to think you’re weak if you cry. You have to let out your frustrations and hurt somehow, yes?” Taki touched Chiaki’s cheek. “Devon won’t blame you if you cry…”
Taki nodded in answer to the others question, sipping his own cup of tea. “He used to cry a lot. The people at school would pick on his for his eyes. Some would even start fights, and even if he acted tough there, he’d come home and cry because no one liked him, no one would be his friend. Zercan…..” He looked at Chiaki. “Zercans are cat people from the planet Zerca. The reason you will have children is because their population consists of males exclusively. Devon can turn into a panther. He does it here only to protect people and if he gets injured too bad. Otherwise, people would catch him and want to do experiments. So..” He looked up when his son leaned against the door jamb, hating that he had to send him out dressed as he was to get cash. But if Dev went looking like that, he was always guaranteed to come home with tons of tips.
Devon jumped in surprise, when his mate was suddenly pressed against him, the little angel hugging him tightly. The zercan wasn’t stupid, he knew things weren’t resolved that fast, but his little mate wasn’t too sad anymore. “Thank you,” he smiled back when the boy smiled, reaching out a hand to cup his face. “I love you and I’ll see you in the morning. Get some sleep love.” He leaned in and kissed Chiaki gently before pulling away. “Goodnight mom.”
Taki nodded, waving. “I’ll take Chiaki to the bookstore with me tomorrow. If you get back and we’re not here, you’ll know where we are.” Devon nodded before waving, his spirits restored from just that simple attention from his mate. He hurried down the steps and out the door, dashing to the club to make it just in time. His boss stationed him behind the bar, and it was everything Devon could do to not look at the clock every two seconds.

The whole baby thing was confusing. Here was Devon’s mother telling him that babies could have babies, and yet everyone else had told him it wasn’t possible. It was going to take a while for Chiaki to understand such an idea. After all, he couldn’t go against what he had already been taught. It’d be rather difficult for him to do something like that. Somehow, he felt like he was being left out. He was the only one that didn’t understand this and now he felt like he was missing something. He didn’t like the feeling, so he was going to ask Devon as many questions as he could. That way, he’d know more about the whole thing and he wouldn’t feel like he was the only one that didn’t know anything. Maybe if he knew more about the whole thing, it’d become less scary? That made sense. So he had decided to learn everything he could about this. That way, he’d make things easier for Devon. He didn’t want to dump his emotional burdens on the other. He watched the other leave and almost wanted to run after him. He didn’t like them being separated by such a large distance. He knew work was important to the other, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to be with the man right now.
“I…was always alone,” admitted the boy as he turned to face the other once he was certain Devon was gone. “No one liked me either. I had been born with too many defects and was too quiet. They…forgot about me I guess. It was like being invisible I suppose. It sounds like Devon had a hard life too. I don’t mind having Devon’s baby…but I don’t like it that Devon has to leave. I didn’t want him to go anywhere… Even if he has to go to work, I just wish for him to stay with me. I hope I can see him soon because it’s already hurting…”
He missed having the other around. It was too quiet with the two of them and he wondered how things were going at Devon’s work. It seemed like the place was always loud and full of people. Devon had been wearing the types of clothes that Chiaki had seen his brothers wear. He didn’t like it when people dressed like that and especially not Devon. Someone might see how great the other was and try to steal him away. That’s when Chiaki would become horribly upset. If the other ever met someone else, Chiaki was sure he’d never stop crying. In fact, he’d die if the other told him he was unwanted. That’s how strongly he felt about the other. Even though it seemed unreasonable, he wanted the other’s absolute love. He didn’t want Devon to have anyone that was more important to him. Chiaki wasn’t going to lie; it was a selfish desire. Even so, that’s what he wanted more than anything else. To keep the person for himself and only himself. Now, more than ever, he wished he were with Devon at the other’s workplace.
“Do…you think he’ll be okay?” He asked the other softly. “I-It’s cold outside…and there are muggers and weirdos… What if he doesn’t come back?! What if something bad happens? I should go check up on him! But what if he thinks I’m annoying him…? This is confusing… I don’t…want to wait here and do nothing.”
He was panicking now. It was something he wasn’t used to doing that often and the feeling wasn’t as strong as now. He wasn’t sure what to do. Even though he knew Devon was an adult, he worried that something might happen to the other. All kinds of thoughts were going through his head, one more unlikely than the next. It wasn’t just that it was dark and scary outside, it was also that Devon had gone alone. He really didn’t like the thought of that, so he was worried. He wished now he could work with the other. Even though he wasn’t very good with other people or labor of any sort, he’d be happy just being with the other. Perhaps he could sneak in? Naw, he was a lousy liar. There was no way they’d believe he was the lawful age to be in such a place. That ruled out that idea. But still, Chiaki had lots more ideas and enough panic to make his stomach churn.

Taki watched his son in-law in interest, a small smile gracing his lips at Chiaki’s worry. “Tell you what hun, why don’t you get yourself dressed in something warm, and we’ll go sneak in an see that he’s alright. I’m sure he wouldn’t be annoyed by your presence. He loves you, you could never annoy him. I have rights to go into the club through the back entrance, parental rights you know? Hmmm..” He tilted his head.
“You should go find something in Devons closet. I find it’s easier to make some of the bouncers think you’re older if you dress according to their views. That’s how Devon’s working there. I don’t want us to get separated somehow and you be tossed out. You do want to go, yes? I’ll go get ready and you go find something to wear. Don’t make it too….skin-showy, Devon will get jealous if anyone else looks at you.” He smiled and stood, pausing at the door.
“Make sure to grab a sweater hun, it is chilly. Grab one up for Dev too, to wear on the way home. That boy’s going to get sick I swear.” He shook his head, leaving to go get ready.
///
Devon wiped his brow. He’d been here less than half an hour and already the club was packed. There were way more guys than girls, and the dancing was getting a bit extreme. He’d been given three offers at a drink-though he got free ones anyways-and his boss had made him go talk to one very rich, powerful man that had taken an interest in him. His pockets were near lined with bills, and Devon was glad he would be able to maybe get Chiaki something on the way home on top of groceries.

Chiaki shot out of bed and rushed into Devon’s closet, though he had to pause for a second after moving so fast. It seemed his stomach wasn’t quite ready for sprinting or running around. The boy opened the doors and drowned at what he saw. It wasn’t just that the clothes were tight on Devon; it was also that they were much too big for Chiaki. The boy had rather short legs and he was short he wouldn’t be able to wear the other’s clothes. Not only that, but he was rather scrawny and there was no way the pants would stay up without a belt. Devon’s belts would probably not fit Chiaki either, though. Not only that, but the shoes were much too large also. It seemed like there was nothing for him to wear. He went through what the other had and found nothing that would fit him. There were shorts, but those went to his knees and he didn’t want to be uncovered in the cold. Really, there was nothing for him to wear. It was hard finding clothes that fit him. Most of the time, he ended up with pants that were much too long. If he’d been in Japan, he was sure it’d be easier to find clothes, but he wasn’t. Everyone here was so much bigger than he was and it bothered him now. It hadn’t really before, but it did now.
He sighed before looking through the closet again. There was a pair of jeans he found. They were black and a bit faded. He didn’t think they fit Devon anymore considering how old they were. He slipped out of his own clothes and put the pants on. They were baggy and long, but they were the closest thing to a fit that he could find. He slipped on a dress shirt the other owned and put his own shoes back on, knowing there was no way he’d be able to wear any of Devon’s shoes. He slipped on a hoodie and grabbed a coat for Devon, still pouting about the fact that he couldn’t find proper clothes to wear. He walked back into the room where Devon’s mother was, handing him the coat. Chiaki had tried to find a belt, but they were much too large. He needed a small belt for his slim waist and hadn’t been able to find one. He pulled up his pants again just to make sure they didn’t fall. The shirt was buttoned all the way and fit much better than the pants did. It probably only fit so well because he could button it all the way, though the sleeves went past his finger tips a little. The hoodie covered this up well, though it only served to make him seem smaller since it was black, like the rest of the clothes he was wearing. He wondered if he looked thinner in this too…
“It…doesn’t fit…” he muttered. “Is it okay, though?”
Perhaps he needed make-up? All the girls at school said they looked older with make-up. But he didn’t see any…not that he had any at home or anything! Yeah! He had no idea about how to apply make-up or anything like that! Hahahaha…that was girly! Boys didn’t know about make-up! The boy shifted a little and tugged at the shirt, frowning at the way he looked. He wasn’t going to fit in at this place at all. He’d stood out the first time and though that’s how he’d met Devon, he didn’t want to cause any problems this time. They’d probably get mad if he wandered around, especially since this time he didn’t have his brother to cover for him, though they actually didn’t do much besides hand over a bunch of money. The two were the biggest idiots on the planet, plus, they were horribly irresponsible when it came to most things, especially taking care of Chiaki. In fact, they were the worst babysitters you could find and leaving your child with them was the same as letting them play with matches. Bad things happened and in the end, there was a lot of damage to pay for, your child was scarred for life, and someone always got hurt. This is why Chiaki was glad he was going to be with someone responsible and not two morons.

Taki tilted his head, nodding. The man himself was dressed in black jeans with little tears along the knees. His shirt was a dark maroon and unbuttoned around the neck, revealing a rather new looking bruise where his mate had claimed him and a silver cross, much like Devon’s. His long, black hair was wound around and pulled into a ponytail with maroon ribbon. Silver loops adorned his ears and there was a chain from his lobe to the top of his ear. “You look fine just…..hmmm…” He tapped his chin before perking and going into the bathroom. The man returned with a stick of kohl and tilted Chiaki’s chin. “Hold still, I don’t want to poke you….” He bit his lip and carefully lined Chiaki’s pretty eyes. “There….most people at the club wear it. Your clothes are a bit baggy, but I should’ve figured. Devon’s pretty tall and has more muscle. You’ll be fine though, you’re with me and as long as we stick together, there won’t be any trouble.” He smiled and picked up Devon’s coat, handing it back to Chikai.
“You’re going to give this to him sweetie. Come on, lets go.” Taki took his son in-laws hand and led him out of the house. The man made sure to lock up before leading the silver haired boy down the streete. The club wasn’t actually that far so they reached it pretty fast. By the time they were there it was packed and a long line stretched along the outside. Taki made a sound and led Chiaki to a door on the back of the building. “We have to be quiet when we go in here because the boss’ office is back here. He’ll get angry…” Taki pressed a finger to his lips before opening the door and slipping in. He held it for Chiaki then made sure the door was secure behind him.
Even back here the music could be heard, the beat making the floor jump. Taki led him down a hallway past several locked doors. Before they knew it, they were before a crowd of gyrating, dancing people. And there, right in the hot lights, mixing drinks and practically getting felt up by demanding customers, was Devon, just trying to do his job.
“Dirty old men,” spat Taki, taking Chiaki’s hand. He pulled the boy through the crowd, shoving people out of the way to get to the bar. “Hey! Tender,” he called lovingly. “Get your skinny butt over here. We came to save you from the pervert masses!” Devon jerked his head up, grinning broadly. He pushed a man away form him and started over, ignoring people’s calls for another round.

Chiaki had been afraid the other would poke his eye out. The boy wasn’t used to having someone put make-up on him like this. Sure…he may have…occasionally gone through his mother’s make-up…but this was different! He had never had someone put it on him and he’d certainly never put something around his eyes like this. Things that made his eyes stand out were something Chiaki had never liked. After all, out of everything, his eyes were something he disliked the most. They were almond shaped like a normal Japanese person, but they were rather oddly colored. It’d look better if he had dark hair, but his silver hair only served to make him look odd, rather than attractive. But he didn’t complain when the other painted his eyes and let him put the make-up on his smooth skin. It took a bit to stay still since Chiaki was used to moving around, but he was able to pull it off without even flinching or anything. As they walked down the street, Chiaki couldn’t help but shudder. It was a bit cold out side and he was sure it’d get colder as the night continued. He clutched the coat he had in his arms and hoped he’d be able to get it to Devon safely.
Chiaki was quiet like he was told as he entered the club, but he couldn’t help but become worried when he saw so many people. It wasn’t that he was worried about himself, but he was worried about his mate. He didn’t like the thought of Devon being somewhere with so many men. After all, it’d be easy for the other to find someone new. He found himself disliking all the people in the club, but disliked his feelings even more. They were such ugly feelings. He didn’t want Devon to know he had felt such ugly emotions in his heart. That’s why he kept his mouth shut about all the people in the club, even though they were dressed in a way that made him frown. They reminded him so much of his brothers and the sort of people they hung out with. That’s when he saw it, someone he hadn’t thought he’d see. It was his brothers, laughing and drinking. Chiaki stiffened when he saw the two, but didn’t turn his head to stare. He simply looked at them from the corner of his eye and didn’t bother with them. He didn’t want to see them anyway. They’d only serve to complicate things. He concentrated on walking with Taki and didn’t even look back at his brothers, letting them fade from his view. He quickened his pace when he saw his mate at the counter.
“Devon!” He called out. “Look! We brought you a sweater! So you won’t get cold now…”
He almost twitched. People were getting a bit too touchy feely with his mate. Somehow, he wanted to scream. Even though he was smiling at his back, his jaw was clenched and he was clutching the article of clothing so tightly that his knuckles were turning white. Some of the people at the bar were pretty. They weren’t as good looking as his mate, but they certainly made Chiaki look childish and young. He wished he could be mature and look good in tight clothes like some of the others. It was hard to find clothes that fit him and he looked terrible in Devon’s clothes. They were baggy and rather made him look like he didn’t have any sort of figure. It was true, though. He didn’t have curves like a girl and didn’t have muscles like boys did. He was just thin and tiny. It made him made that such people were around Devon, but most of all, it made him feel self conscious. But he tried to act as though nothing was bothering him and continued to smile at his mate. He didn’t want to worry the other or make him worry about him or make the other think he was stupid. So he just smiled clutched the coat.

Devon's grin brightened even more when he caught sight of Chiaki. "Hey baby," he leaned over the counter and drew the small boy close, cupping his chin to kiss him. He took the coat from him, leaving another kiss on his ear and then one on his jaw. "Thank you so much, angel. It's getting cold hm? Why don't you sit down and i'll find you something warm to drink-non-alcoholic mind you. Mom, you want something?" Taki was already sitting, patting the seat next to him for Chiaki. It seemed they were the only two stools open.
"Sure sweetie. Just mix me something." Devon nodded, dark hair falling into his eyes. "It's on me. I made enough tonight." He gave Chiaki another loving smile before moving off. It was almost ten minutes before he managed to make it back. In his hands was a light alcoholic drink for his mother, and a hot chocolate he'd managed to scrounge up for his mate. "It's a bit hot angel. Watch you don't burn yourself," he warned, setting the styrofoam cup before Chiaki, a napkin underneath. It was quite loud, but Devon was glad he could hear them. He was even more glad his mate had come with hsi mother. They brightened his night, Chiaki more than ever. He only wished he could leave early....
"When're you opening the bookstore," he asked of his mother, mixing up a few drinks ordered by customers. He handed them off, accepting the money and the change he was given as a tip.
"Around seven. I think i'll show Chiaki the ropes. He might just enjoy working there. Drop by on your way home? You can sleep in teh back room. I don't want you to be all alone in there. Your uncle will be showing up and I don't want him tryign to wisk you off again." Taki took a small sip of his drink, fist under his chin.
"What do you say Chiaki? Wanna come to work with me?"

He felt better when Devon hugged him. It was a nice feeling to be in the other’s arms, though he didn’t want anyone else to know this. After all, this person was his and he wasn’t going to share with anyone else. The kiss wasn’t as long as some of the others they’d shared, but he enjoyed it anyway. Besides, it made his cheeks turn red. But then again, he’d always been the type that blushed easily, especially when he was around someone he liked. He’d always thought of himself as shy, but awkward was a good word for it too. He took a seat when the other went behind the counter again. He was strongly reminded of the time when he’d first arrived. He’d been sitting on a stool that time too, though he’d run away from Devon shortly after the other had spotted him. That wasn’t going to happen this time, though. He wasn’t going anywhere. He wanted to protest about not getting an alcoholic drink but didn’t say anything. Okay, so it was true that he had no tolerance for the stuff, but he would have liked for the other to ask him if he wanted some…that was all… Though when he thought about it, pregnant people weren’t supposed to drink. He’d heard about it in health class and he didn’t think that was a lie, unlike the other things his teacher had told him.
He held the cup in his hands, enjoying the warmth. It made him feel better, though he was still annoyed by the fact that so many people were crowding around Devon. He understood that the other was the one that served the drinks, but that didn’t mean they could just stare at him as though he’d sleep with them! People were dancing and sometimes, they’d smack Chiaki in the back of the head. This became less frequent, though, so he didn’t pay it much mind. Chiaki blinked when he felt a question being directed at him. He eagerly nodded, wanting them to know he was ready to work. After all, it wouldn’t be right if he just freeloaded off Devon and his mother forever. The two had enough bills to pay without having to worry about him too. Chiaki was better at giving than taking. He wasn’t good at taking things that were given to him and was rather modest when it came to that sort of thing. Besides, he’d get some work experience and that was something he needed badly. He’d never gotten the chance to work, even though he’d had several opportunities. It was something his parents had forbidden, though he never understood how that sort of thing made sense. He was about to say something else when he felt something strange.
His face turned a bright shade of red and his eyes popped open. He spilled his drink all over the counter and jumped out of his seat. He whirled around but didn’t see anyone suspicious. Still, this was unforgivable. Someone had just pinched his bottom. It wasn’t just a quick feel either, this had been a grope. Someone had violated him by touching him in such a sensitive area. It made the boy paranoid. Anyone could try something else again and he’d never see. He hadn’t caught the guy that did it the first time, so he probably would catch anyone if they did it a second time. It made him feel worried about being in a place like this. Even with Devon’s mother at his side, there were still people here that could hurt him, or at least embarrass him greatly. The boy made sure to glare at everyone he saw and anyone that stared at him, ready to put up a fight if someone tried anything. He wrapped his arms across his chest in a rather girly manner, just to make sure everyone knew he wasn’t going to let them feel him up if he could help it. His back was firmly pressed against the counter, just to make sure no one tried to sneak up on him from behind. If anyone so much as looked at him oddly or in a lewd manner, Chiaki was going to make sure to kick their ass.
