"Something drawing us together." Kinome whispered before he could stop himself. Suddenly his eyes widened in horrified realization of what he had just said. he pulled his hand back, holding it at his own chest and turning bright red in shame and embarresmnet. "Forget I said that. i didn;t mean that. I'm sorry." he babbled.

[Adish]

Adish tilted his head. "What? Why? That's the truth, isn't it? That's what being a mate is about." He pulled Kinome close again and kissed the Human's forehead. "Are you sure you didn't mean it? Please, tell you did...."

Kinome shifted, uncertain of what to say. He had never been in this kind of situation before and was extreamly uncertain and unsure. He chewed on his lip nervously, desperatly searching for a way to change the topic without hurting Adish's feelings. "I'm hungry." He whispered. "Hungry, tired and sore." And for once he was telling the truth.

[Adish]

Adish sighed softly. He was hurt that Kinome was changing the subject; they needed to talk about this. He hung his head a bit, though he tried not to, and nodded. "Okay. Dinner's almost ready. Go ahead and sit down at the table and I'll start the bathwater, like I promise, okay?" he said quietly.

Kinome nodded, rather relieved that Adish was going to start the bath and give him time to go to the kitchen. "Okay. I'll be right there." He stated softly, waiting for Adish to leave.

[Adish]

Adish frowned softly as he turned and walked away. He moved into the bathroom, working for a moment with the odd nobs to figure out how to get the water to work before the water started to come out at a comfortably warm temperature. He put the plug in so the water could fill up the tub the went into the closet, grabbing a few towels and rags and set them on a countertop in reach of the tub. He sighed softly, turning off the water once it was full and heading out of the small room and into the kitchen.

The moment Adish walked away, Kinome hopped down the corridor towards the kitchen, leaning on the wall for support. Running out of wall to lean on Kinome hopped over to the counter and hastily hid the plastic bag he was holding before hopping to a seat and sitting down to wait for Adish. He chewed nervously on his lip as he realized he couldn't hide the injury much longer. What would Adish say when he found out? Would he pity him? Think him weak? Think him a burden?

[Adish]

Adish wearily entered the kitchen. He was happy before, but, now, not so much. He tried (and failed) to smiled at Kinome, who was sitting in a chair before moving over the to stove to make sure everything was ready before serving it on two plates. "Here you go. I hope it's okay. I've just seen Momma make it, I've never made it myself before, so I dunno how it's gonna taste," he admitted quietly, not looking at Kinome. He stared down at his food, sighing and taking a bite before sighing again; it wasn't as good as when his mother made it... but at least it was edible, right?

Kinome carefully sampled the food, suddenly feeling guilty. He'd seen the lack of joy on Adish's face and knew it was because of him. The food was tasteless to him... all because of his current misery and guilt. Kinome moved to take another bite when suddenly he lost the battle he'd been waging and burst into tears. The sound of steel meeting porcelain could be heard when Kinome dropped the spoon.

"It's all my fault. I make everyone miserable... why don't you just up and leave!" Kinome screamed hysterically. "I'm sure then you'll be happy! You were happy until you met me! The longer you stay with me the more miserable you get! You can't even SMILE anymore!" Kinome buried his sobbing face into his hands, shoulders shaking as quilt weighed heavily on his heart.

[Adish]

Adish pouted and shook his head, reaching out and lightly touching Kinome. "No, no, no. Kinome...," he whispered softly. He climbed out of his chair and kneeled next to the Human. "Kinome... I wasn't happy for a long time. I was a cocky bastard," he joked, though he guessed it was kind of true, he really did act like a jerk sometimes, "I'm mean to everyone and beat people up for stupid reasons because that's the only way I know how to deal with things. My mother hates me, treats me like trash. You can relate; though, I admit that my situation wouldn't hold a candle to yours, I haven't been happy in a long time." He spoke softly, lightly petting Kinome's hair. "Then I came to Ear-... I came here and I met you. I was happy then. My heart and body recognized you as my mate... It just took my brain awhile to catch up.

"The only reason I'm sad is that you only listen to your brain. You won't let your heart and body tell you what's right," he explained softly, letting his hand fall on Kinome's shoulder. "I love you, but you won't let yourself love me back."

"You can't love me." Kinome protested through loud sobs. "Loving me will ruin your life. It ruined my mothers... it ruined my fathers. It will ruin your life. Juts leave. Leave and find another. I don't want to watch again. Not again. I can’t watch as someone else dies. If not physically then mentally, Not again."

[Adish]

Adish sighed and pulled Kinome from his chair to the dragonis's lap. He held the Human tightly and kissed his temple. "I can't love anyone but you. It's not possible. You're my mate. We were made for each other; I can't be with anybody but you. You won't ruin my life, it was ruined a long time ago," he muttered, "The only place to go from here is up." He nuzzled the boy's hair and sighed. Adish could feel the pain that Kinome was going through. He wanted to change that, he wanted Kinome to be happy, but the boy refused to let him.

Kinome hiccupped still crying. "Is the fact that your life was already ruined supposed to make me feel better? Am I supposed to feel better that I'm adding issues to a life that already had serious ones? Trust me... even though you may feel that you hit rock bottom... you can always start digging. I've been there. I'm a burden. Emotionally, mentally and especially financially. I can’t even support myself. How can I expect someone to support me, my medical costs, my food, my clothes and most of all my father. It wouldn't be fair."

[Adish]

Adish sighed softly and tilted the boy's head up to look at him. "There is no way someone so wonderful as you could ever be a burden on me," he stated sincerely, "I'm your mate. I will do everything in my power to provide for you and make you happy. Seeing you well taken care of and content is all that matters to me. That's all I want." He placed two fingers under Kinome's chin and softly turned the boy's face closer to his own, kissing him softly on the lips.

Kinome blinked, jerking in surprise at the father touch upon his lips. He shook his head in denial. "You don't get it." Kinome whispered miserablly. "I'm on medication for the rest of my life. It's not cheap and niether is it easy. I have to watch what I eat. I've already gone to hospital twice. True, the first time was when I was diagnosed and the second because I hadn't taken my meds in a long time... I couldn't afford to but that could happen any time. It's not fair to you. That's only me. Then there's my father, who isn't exactly well. I haven;t finished school yet, so I can only earn a bare minimum wage. Im not supposed to be working as much as I am but the what the school doesn't know..." Kinome stopped, assuming Adish would be able to fill in the rest.
