Tired, world weary silver eyes gazed down at the pavement; almost seeming to count the cracks as slight figure carefully avoided them while walking home. Tiny cracks that marred the pattern upon the ground. There wasn't any particular reason as to why he was avoiding the cracks... it was just something to do. Something that didn't require he use his weary mind and placed little strain on his weary body. The heat was unbearable. Both from within and from without.
It wasn't often that he traveled this route in daylight. It had in actual fact been several months since he had last walked this path while it was still light. If he actually thought about it? He couldn’t even remember the last time he had walked this route in the early afternoon. A shiver ran through his body, momentarily interrupting his morbid thoughts. The only reason he was doing so now? He had been ordered home early from work. This day had been an extremely long. Even though it had been cut short, it still felt longer than most.
Kinome's body had been protesting his every movement from the moment he had gotten up, from the moment he had forced it into its daily routine. He hadn't really noticed, blaming it on the fact that he had run out of the medication he was required to take… a while ago. He had not been able to afford more and assumed this was the result. He had only been on the medication for a couple of months and it wasn't the first time he had run short on cash in a month, skipping on the meds. The supervisor at the cafe had noticed Kinome's careful pained movements and had ordered the boy home. This bothered Kinome for it meant Kinome would lose the days tips and he really needed the money.
Kinome rubbed his bare arms as he shivered again, clenching his teeth in agitation and anger at his own weakness. Why was he shivering when he was so damned hot anyway? Kinome hated it when he lost control of his own body. Hated it with a passion and by the same measure hated the medication he was on and the loss of control that represented. Pausing, Kinome blindly reached for something to support him when a rush of dizziness and weakness coursed through him. Hand meeting empty air, he stumbled, tripping over his own feet but miraculously remaining upright once more regaining his balance.
Kinome let out a frustrated growl at his own weakness before taking a few deep breathes and moving forward once more, the bitter thought that he would have to miss that afternoon’s dance class, not helping any to cheer him up. But then again, little cheered him these days. It was just so difficult to be carefree when every moment was spent facing the consequences of a single day... a few moments; all that it had taken to change his life forever. He had almost gotten used to the constant heavy feeling in his chest... Almost, but something in him refused to let him simply accept it. Refused to let him give up and drove him forward...
That something?
A small flame of hope.

Adish sat lazily in the pilots chair of a small space craft he'd commandeered. Oh, don't give him that look! The old geizer deserved it anyway, and it wasn't like he didn't have three or four other ships if he needed one! Besides, Adish needed it more than Gramps did anyway.
He and Eade had been told to go buy some grocieries, though why their mother insisted on sending them together when she obviously didn't trust her older son still baffled the dragonis'. Adish had sent Eade across the street to get some goofy smelling vegetables while he got some bread. After Adish had made his purchase, however, he turned to see Eade getting bullied again. He sighed and shook his head, he really needed to teach that goofball how to fight!
He approached the gang of teens surrounding his brother and starting whailing on them. Seriously, he kicked some major butt. Once the last of them had limped away, Adish had carried Eade home, but when their mother had seen the poor state of her perfect little angel she had almost burst a blood vessel screaming at her eldest son about something or other. He'd seen his younger brother give him a pathetic look that seemed to say "sorry" and "thanks" at the same time. Adish just winked at him and walked past, dropping Eade off on the couch to be cared for while he went to pack.
He always left for a bit when his mother got this angry. She was kinda scary, especially when she started throwing things at people... everyone except Eade, of course. Heaven forbid.
He decided this time, that he'd like to take a little vaca to Earth. He'd never been to the back-water planet and he'd heard many things about it. It's just that now, the fourth and last day of the flight, he was bored out of his mind. Zelat, this ship's comm, was his favorite by far and they usually spent the time talking, but both had run out of things to say.
"Hey Adi! Guess what?" Adish let his head roll to the side as he stared blankly up at Zelat.
"Yeah? What is it?"
"We'll be landing on Earth in just a few moments! Are you ready?" Adish jumped from his slouched position and looked up out of the front window. The huge, blue and green planet was so close it took up most the view. He couldn't believe he'd been so close and had completely missed it!
"Alright!" he exclaimed as he buckled the seat belt, "Switch back to manual controls."
"Aye!... Oh, this is so exciting! I've never been to Earth before!" The red-head raised an eyebrow at the computer. "...What?..... Fine! We're landing okay?!"
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Adish climbed out of the fully-stopped ship and fell to the ground, kissing the dirt dramatically. "Laaa~aaannd!" He heard a 'tsk' from the communicator clipped on his side, hidden within the many folds of his loose, baggy, bright yellow pants. He had a huge green cloth wrapped around his waist like a belt, but the cloth was so long that he just had it thrown over his shoulders as well.
Adish jumped to his feet and started off away from the forest he had landed in to hide his ship. "Alright, let's get to exploring! I still have another month and a half before Mother will be able to stand the site of me!"
(( ^^; Is this okay? ))

The pattern on the pavement seemed to be moving by at a dizzying pace, disorientating him and frustrating him even further. Was he really walking that fast? Or had his perception just been warped. Gritting his teeth, Kinome raised his head, narrowing silver eyes to focus on what lay ahead. The landscape seemed so foreign to him. He lived here and yet it seemed so foreign. Had he really been walking facing down for that long? Long enough that the scenery around was now strange?
His habit of walking with his head down had begun just after his mother had died. Initially it had stemmed from an overwhelming sense of guilt and shame and had stood him in good steed against the rumors too. The rumors were vicious, cruel and hurtful and although not true, perceived as true by Kinome. The habit had greatly contributed to his current withdrawn nature… it was difficult to be outgoing while continually staring at ones feet, unable to meet anyone’s eyes. In fact, the only time he looked up anymore had been during dancing. Dancing was the only means of expressing himself that he had held onto… bringing the hidden depths of him that even he himself was unaware of.
Kinome swallowed, trying to sooth his dry throat, another shiver running through his body. Silver eyes gazed ahead. He lived in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of town. One almost never encountered another person outside, everyone keeping to themselves. It wasn’t a bad neighborhood to live in, but Kinome no longer really cared. The place had long ago lost its charm. The beauty of the place had died along with any other beauty Kinome may have ever appreciated. He no longer saw any beauty, not even in the green woods and small streams that surrounded the neighborhood, nor in the mountain landscape that dominated the horizon.
Kinome gasped as the horizon suddenly began to shift and change. Since when did the horizon move? As far as he knew, it would remain stationary when one looked at it… or at least seem to remain stationary. That’s what his logic told him… but not what his eyes told him as another rush of dizziness coursed through him causing him to once more lose his balance. This time, however, he wasn’t fortunate enough to catch it, hand blindly reaching out and connecting with a rough wall on his way down, tearing skin. He hissed in pain, the fall jarring his already aching body, holding back the tears that threatened to fall cussing softly in an attempt to prevent himself from crying out or crying in frustration.
(Yep… more than fine… Thank you)

Adish broke away from the trees and entered into what he supposed was a village. He sighed beratingly at himself. He should have student the culture a bit before coming here. The buildings lined paths covered in an ugly black-grey material that seemed to be falling apart. Along the sides of the large path, were smaller paths. Paths that seemed to be falling apart as well. Did there government want to keep the lands easier to travel? It made the quaint little row of houses seem sloppy.
Adish twitched his nose at the undone state of the larger path before shrugging and walking along it. No one else seemed to be around so he strolled nonchalantly done the way, whistling a song that he'd just made up.
He glanced up from watching his booted feet kick tiny rocks and saw someone coming towards him on the other side of the street. He straightened up and slowed his walk, watching the character with a sharp eye.
The boy had beautiful silver hair that was pulled up but still managed to reach low on the his back. His clothes were neat, though they looked kinda small. His over all image screamed "I'm sad! Help me!" Adish smiled, but the other boy couldn't see him- his head was down.
The dragonis' opened his mouth to call out to the silver-haired beauty, but before he could voice anything, the boy fell to the ground. Adish blinked, startled. What was going on? He jogged easily over to the other on the ground and knelt beside him. He tapped the boy's shoulder lightly with two fingers, staring at him curiously with his head tilted to the side. "You alright? What happened? You looked like Eade fallin' over like that! Like you got kicked in the back the knee! Just- BAM!" He made a motion with his hand like it was falling over.
It never occured to him that he might make the Human uncomfortable or embarressed. What was there to be embarressed about, anyway? Adish would have just laughed it off, himself, why should every other person in the universe be any different?

Kinome flinched from the unexpected touch, body tensing. His breath was already ragged so that didn’t change. He glanced up out of bright… too bright… silver eyes clenching his hand, hissing as pain coursed through him from the fresh wound on his arm. It wasn’t a bad wound, but it stung. He gazed at the stranger for a while not even registering what he was seeing, just shivering there upon the ground breath ragged and pained.
He remained on the ground waiting for the nausea and dizziness to pass; not paying any attention to the stranger. Finally the spell of dizziness passed allowing Kinome to carefully raise himself. He moved slowly so as not to bring on another bout of dizziness. “I’m alright.” He muttered, gaze once more returning to the pavement as he moved to slowly walk past the stranger. “Thank you for your concern.”
He winced, taking another step. He hated it when strangers pitied him. They always looked down on him, always made him feel inadequate when all he was doing was trying his best. The police, his psychiatrist and even his school had been concerned about his sudden withdrawal but Kinome had ignored them all, continuing on with his life and accepting the responsibility he had been saddled with. He wasn’t hurting anyone. Neither himself, nor anyone else, so they could just take their concern and leave him be. He gritted his teeth… “Just a little further.” He chanted softly, over and over again as he felt his body begin to give up on him. Tears of frustration escaped his control. “Just a little further, damnit.” He growled. Why wouldn’t his body just carry him a little further, till he was home, where he could lie down in peace?

Adish gaped when the other just brushed him off. He huffed and rushed to jumped in front of the boy. "Hey! I was talkin' to you! I don't like it when people brush me off when I'm tryin' to be friends with 'em!" he grunted.
He looked down at the boy and felt bad about being mad. The silver-haired boy looked like he was ill and about to collapse while muttering something under his breath. "Hey, you alright? You like sick." When the Human ignored him, or hadn't heard him, he gently grabbed his arm. "You okay?" he repeated, "Do you want some help?"

Kinome gasped, jerking away from the sudden touch, the sudden movement making him lose the battle with his body. Dizziness returned with a vengeance, not even giving Kinome time to react. His knees buckled, silver hair flying up with the sudden downward movement of Kinome's body. 'This can't be happening... Please don't let this be happening... ' It was amazing how slow time seemed to move when all it took was an instant... and instant to change everything.
He didn't know what he was going to do now. Didn't know how he was going to gather they energy to even care any more. He clenched his silver eyes tightly shut waiting for impact, impact that would further jar his already aching body. ‘Why did the stranger insist on interfering?’ He thought bitterly. If it had not been for the stranger’s interference he would be on his way home. Walking slowly granted, but not falling. Falling and having his entire world spun out of control. He blindly reached out once more, feeling soft flesh underneath his desperate grasp as he fell.
(Its okay... so is mine)

Adish moved mostly on reflex. When the silver-haired boy reached out for him, he'd automatically moved to catch him. He wrapped his arms around the boy and pulled the other towards him. He held the boy snugly against his chest until it had clicked in his mind what had happened. He held the other boy at away a bit and looked him over.
"You okay?" he asked softly, trying not to frighten him, though it was a bit too late for that. "Sorry about that. I didn't know you didn' want people touching you." He made sure to keep a firm, but gentle, grip on the silver-haired beauty before him to make sure he didn't fall again.
Now that they were closer, Adish was able to get a better look at him. He could see the guarded silver eyes looking back at him and couldn't seem to look away. He moved a hand from the boy's arm to his cheek, running a callisted thumb over the soft skin.
So beautiful... I could stand waking up to this every morning he thought lightly.

Shock... Sheer utter all encompasing shock was what he felt. Kinome had been fully prepared to feel the hard rough concrete pavement connect with his flesh. What he had not been prepared for was the soft warm flesh. Warm flesh that was pressed against his entire body, heating his already heated skin even further. As suddenly as the unexpected contact had appeared, it vanished, small pinpoints of warmth still remaining where the stranger was still holding him. Why was the stranger still holding him?
He frowned, brow creasing in concentration while he listened to the stranger. He took a moment to reply, needing the time to desipher what had been said. "I'm fine." He muttered, shifting in an attempt to get away. He really didn't have the time for chit chat with a complete stranger, his body begging him to just go home and lie down... only... he didn't really have the energy to. "I just really want to go home. Nice meeting you. Thank you for your help. I'll be fine now." Kinome nodded his head slighlty politely, regretting it instantly when the motion only suceeded in bringing on a rush of dizziness, causing his already pale complexion to pale even further. He pulled back in an attempt to pull away without much success... too weak to even put much effort into it.

Adish watched as the boy tried to pull away. It saddened him to see the boy was too weak pull away from him. What could have happened to the beautiful boy that would make him like this? He frowned. The thought of leaving the boy by himself just didn't sit well with Adish.
"Well, I guess if you really have to go I'll go with you. You shouldn't been alone right now; what if you fell again?" He smiled kindly before scooping the boy up so he was holding him. The feeling of holding the other close to him made Adish's smile widened, though he chose to ignore that fact for now. He started walking down the street in the direction his beautiful boy had been headed. "...Eh.... Where do you live?"

Kinome clenched his eyes tightly shut when his world once again lost its clarity, its focus. Dizziness coursed through him making it difficult for him to remain conscious. He took a moment to fight the encroaching darkness. He couldn’t afford to pass out. Not yet. He needed to get home first, get home, check on his father and then go to bed. Once he was certain he was in no immediate danger of passing out, Kinome began to take stock of his surroundings.
He paled in shock at the realization that the stranger seemed to have picked him up. Kinome struggled attempting to pull himself up and out of the stranger’s arms, the movement only disorientating him further. Giving up, Kinome slumped back into the stranger’s arms closing his eyes shaking slightly while his body continued to burn. Mumbling his address in defeat, Kinome desperately hoped the stranger was not some stalker or someone out to hurt him. He couldn’t live through something like that… not again. And so Kinome desperately prayed he hadn’t just made a mistake.
(I'm finally on my way home from Florida. Should be home in a couple of days and able to be online regularly... * grin*)

Adish smiled lightly when the boy relaxed against him. Good he thought, Lucky for me he isn't very heavy, it seems like I'll be carrying him for awhile. He walked carefully, to make sure he didn't jostle the boy too much.
Once he was to the place the boy described, Adish knocked on the door as well as he could with him in his arms and waited for someone to open the door... Surely the boy's parents were home?

Hearing the soft tapping, Kinome realized that they had arrived at his home and the stranger seemed to be knocking on his door. Shaking his head, carefull as not to cause himself any further discomfort, Kinome gathered himself and dragged himself out of the strangers arms, hissing softly at the jarring landing.
"Thank you." He mumbled softly, gaze dropped down, sweaty palms fumbling with the key. "I'll be okay from here. I appreciate all the trouble you went..." His speech was interupted with a soft frustrated moan that escaped his throat. He couldn't seem to get control of the key. The moan was followed by a sigh of relief when he finally managed to get the key into place.
Opening the door, he turned to bow to the stranger. "Again. Thanks." His breath hitched when he got up again. The bow had not been a good idea. He desperatly held himself up, fist white on the door handle.

Adish frowned and lightly took the boy by the shoulders to hold him up. "Are you sure you're okay? You look sick..." Though, I'm not entirely sure why I care.... "Do you want some hlep. I promise I won't try anything!" He looked hopefully to the silver-haired boy. He didn't want to leave him alone, it just didn't feel right.

Kinome shook his head, his eyes rather bright. "No. I'll be alright. I can't let strangers into the house... Actually I can't let anyone into the house... Thanks again. " Kinome hastily turned and rushed in closing the door. Only thing is he didn't stay to make sure the door closed. The door did not latch shut swinging slightly open again to reveal a rather sterile bland corridor. The entire home seemed to exude a dark depressive atmosphere.
Kinome used the wall to support himkself as he made his way to his bedroom. He only intended to lie down for a moment. He knew he needed to make supper but felt too ill to try. Anyways... he was home early so he hoped he could afford to lie down and get up later to prepare food. He desperatly hoped he didn't sleep through but the way he was currently feeling, was willing to take the risk anyway.
