A pale figure sneaked through the dark alley. He had covered himself with a healthy layer of dirt and grime to make pale skin and hair less noticeble in the dark, but he still wasn't as invisible as he'd like. Luckily, his small size was perfect for finding hidey-holes.
He slunk along the side of the alley, looking around furtively before making a dash for the other side of the street and the store display that was there. Normally these displays were only in the slightly more residential areas, but this vendor had been stupid enough to put his in easy range of every waif wanting a free meal. Flitt snagged some dehydrated fruit, a can that he didn't bother checking the contents of and a few other things that would keep, then disappeared into the labyrinth or alleyways and narrow paths that weren't quite alleys that he called home.
Dodging into a crevice behind a garbage container, one of the large ones that automatically incinerated waste every so often so that you couldn't hide in them, he looked over his "purchases". He smiled, making a strange almost purring noise to himself in pleasure. He would eat well tonight. And, if the food didn't get nicked by someone else, he would eat well for the rest of the week as well. He wolfed down some of the fruit greedily. It tasted amazing, especially since he hadn't eaten in a while. He then froze, hearing footsteps. Curling up over his food, he made himself as small, unnoticeble and unappealing as possible.
Footsteps and strangers had rarely meant good things for the slight boy. The first strangers had hurt his mama and ultimately taken her away. The next ones had always hurt him. He looked at the newest dark discoloration on his arm where someone had grabbed him roughly. He had escaped that one, however. And hopefully, he would escape from this one too. One dark blue eye opened, looking out from behind the container warily. He could just see a shadow, so far.

Kanti sighed as he walked down the streets , he didn't like these streets much at all. Specially in the night they seemed so small...But there he was walking to get his mind clear.
He had been in a fight with a Humanoid after the creature tried to seduce him and wouldn't let him go. He was kicked out of teh bar and now he walked alone.
He heard something moving behind a garbage container. He took a deep breath, 'ok, this may be a cat...calm down' who knew what wierd things could be found in the uge industrial planet. Rats teh size of a dog? Kanti slapped himself mentally, 'don't be stupid!'
He walked slowly to the dark spot to find actually a boy.He sighed in relief, "Man you got me scared!" he laughed, the boy seemed extremly frightened, and Kanti decided to shut up, "I'm sorry if i scared you, um..." The boy stared back, Kanti noted to himself that the boy's eyes were beatifull, but decided to do something USEFUL instead of stare..."Do you have any parents? I-I could take you home if you want?"

The boy shook his head, pushing himself deeper behind the garbage. Ok, well at least this one didn't look like he was going to hit him... Maybe he wanted something else? No. Flitt didn't want to let someone touch him. He stayed where he was, assessing the situation. Running away seemed pointless right now. He could, if he chose to. It would be easy to shift into a cat or a mouse and wriggle away.

Kanti sighed, he couldn't leave the boy there! It was chilly, and well the boy didn't seem that healthy. The kid began to move his eyes from one side to another, Kanti knew he was trying to find a way out.
"Look, you can come with me, i'll give you food and clothes." He outstreched his hand but the boy backed himself to the wall as if trying to blend with it. Kanti moved away and ran his hand through his burnette locks.
"Ok, umm look i'm Kanti, what's your name?"

Food? Clothes? This made Flitt perk up a bit. Oh he'd let the man do almost anything to him for food and clothes. He gave Kanti a mesuring look. "Whadda ya want in exchange?" he asked, ignoring the question.

Kanti grinned at hearing the boy's voice, "I just want you to trust me, i won't hurt you." The boy stared at him, he didn't seem so convinved, "Well, if you want you can tell me how to get back to my ship. Because i feel a bit lost." Kanti smilled sheepishly.

"Oh. Which dock are ya at?" He stashed his food where he knew it would be safe until his return. Probably central, if he was on business. And Flitt knew at least a dozen ways there and more than a few ways in and out. He made sure that his food was secure, then gingerly eased out from behind the garbage can. He didn't even reach Kanti's shoulder, standing slightly hunched as if ready to retreat back into the crevice at a moment's notice.

"Uh, central." The boy nodded and began to lead the way, Kanti found it a bit hard to follow the boy as he moved quickly, but he never missed the pale skin, he didn't like though the dirt that covered it.
They finally recahed the docks, and Kanti sighed in relief, "Well, come on, lets get you whta i promised." He walked between the large ships trying to catch a glimpse of his own.

"What's yer ship like?" Flitt asked, used to having to locate different targets in the large, crowded docking bay.

"it's a small red one." Kanti looked to th right and spotted it. "that one!"
The boy didn't sem very excited..."Well, it's small cause i have to travel allot, and eh i don't like to overcrowded by people" Kanti looked the boy 'why the hell am i telling him this?'
"I didn't catch you name." he said again as the door of the ship opened reavealing the pilot's seat, a small living room and a small door which gradually led to a room. Also small.

"Flitt," the boy answered, looking around to see if tehre was anything of value he could make off with. "Nice ship. Not a good lock. See? Easy ta pick." He flicked the lock deresively.

Kanti stared at the boy, "Right...Don't do that again." He entered the ship "Jol i'm here." The computer switched on and a digital male could be seen on the screen.
"Oh thank god, i thought you were lost. I was going to go back home without you." the boy on the screen smirked.
"Very funny. This is Flitt, we're giving him food and shelter." Kanti took off his coat and walked towards the small living room to find something for the boy to eat.
Jol eyed the kid and began to laugh, "Wow, where did you get that one from?"

The boy eyed the screen fearfully. It talked! And there was a person! He wasn't exactly sure where this other person was. He was starting to have the sneaking suspicion that he wasn't going to be able to go back to the streets any time soon, either. He followed Kanti, staying out of arm's reach.
"If ya don' want me ta pick the locks, get better ones," he told him. "Yer gonna get yer stuff nicked wit that old thing."
((Sorry I poofed like that. A girl from my old HS IMed me and then came over. At ten at night. GO figure. That was strange.))

((no prob, i had to go too ^^))
Kanti, opened a few drawers eyeing the boy from the cormer of his eyes, he was cute. Small pale and with those big dark blue eyes... 'snap out of it idiot!'
"Here, they're large, because i've never had such a young tripulant. How old are you anyway? 12? 13?" He handed the clothes to the boy but his smile faded at the glares he was recieving.

"16," he answered, looking insulted. "I think. I kinda lost track after mam wasn' aroun' anymore ta remind me." He looked the clothes over, immediately cutting the sleeves off the offered shirt and converting it, after a bit of creative ripping, into a vest more his size. The sleeves he used to tie the bottoms of the pant legs to his ankles so that they poofed like harem pants but didn't get in his way or drag on the ground. He used his usual leather thong as a belt to hold the pants up and tied his pouch there for easy access to his meagre belongings. He had absolutely no qualms about changing in front of Kanti. What little moral education he had gotten was in the whorehouse he had been born in, so he had never learned that changing in front of someone might be bad.
