There seemed to be a brief moment of silence that made Dalian just a bit more nervous. He was probably being inspected, that's why he suddenly felt so flustered. He couldn't make out the mans features at all but he could see he had a large build, he definitely wasn't old.
"Its a pleasure to meet you sir, I'm Dalian...Marigold, I was told you'd know it because of the A.I here but I'm a fan of verbal introductions. If you'd like you can call me by my first or last name but my friends call me Dalia for short though." There was a reason for that but he didn't want to bore the guy. Already he realized he spoke a bit too much.
"Oh, but since you are my employer I expect you to be formal..." He gave a little nervous laugh feeling himself blush. It was too bad he was lit like a light or the dark would have aided hiding that. He was making such a fool of himself and he had only met this guy for a few seconds. "I am aware of what the contract said." He read over most of it or maybe half of it, but he did knew he was here for a year.

How charming a man, Chase mused. One he most definitely did not deserve. The fates putting him with this beautiful creature was a mockery and he truly felt sorry for the man but he could not bring himself to be selfless and not try. He would wait... for now. But he was not sure how long he could keep his beast away from Dalian.
"I don't much care what you cook just have breakfast by 8, lunch by 1 and dinner by 6. Clean my house and I will tell you when I need an errand run. That is all for now. Go." It was hard thing to say. The last thing he wanted was for the pretty man to go out of his sight...

"Rightm noted." His boss was curt but that was alright. "Until then." He smiled before hurrying off towards the kitchen. It was a little after four and he wanted to see what was stocked. He did have to have dinner ready by six. He also thought to look over the house when he finished that. How in the world would another person manage this job without his ability? How did the man see in the dark for that matter?
Moments later in the kitchen Dalian went straight for the fridge. Where was the recipe list? He just took a quick glance over the fully stocked fridge before looking for that list the man mentioned. What was on the menu for today? He brightened his light just a bit more to find it. "There," he gave a little sigh dulling his light before taking the menu in hand.
It looked like it would all take less than an hour so he had this chance to see if anything needed cleaning. Deciding on it he walked out of the kitchen and stopped there. "Hm..." He was practically a flashlight in the dark which wasn't a bad thing. How was this going to work? He needed a map or something to help figure out the layout here. He'd make it work somehow, he wasn't going to lose the job he just got. Randomly he chose a direction and started to wander.

Chase, who had been watching the fairy from afar, spoke up from the darkness. "The house is equiped with an AI should you need directions."

Dalian was wandering through one of the many halls in the home when a a voice came from behind him. "Oh," he jumped turning around quickly. "Ah...thanks." It would have been nice to know that earlier. Too bad the A.I probably couldn't warn him about what needed cleaning. "Um...Mr. Huntington..." He wondered if he could ask a few questions. not job related. That man earlier just told him not to look at his face, he didn't say he couldn't speak, right?
"Forgive me if I seem too...bold or rude with my question but you aren't ill or anything right?" That question wasn't being too nosy. The man standing seemed all the much larger but he could just make out an outline a very large outline. Man this guy towered over him. He really wished he could see his face.
"Do you ever get guests?" He figured the man, he assumed was probably a Zercan, didn't have a mate or maybe his mate passed. He was full of questions but common courtesy kept him from asking. "I'm sorry, you really don't have to answer anything." He shook his head looking slightly flustered. He was so rude, this guy probably had second thoughts about him now. It would be a speedy record for getting fired in like less than an hour.

Chase probed the fae's mind with his own through their mate bond. It was easy to tell what the man thought and answered him accordingly. "You have the right to ask anything you want. You live here now too. I am not ill and guests come rarely. As for a mate... perhaps we'll speak on that subject another time. As for your duties, I have decided you will read to me in the sitting room every night after dinner." Anything so he could look at the beautiful man. "If you need assistance cleaning, ask the house's AI to brighten the portion you are cleaning."

This guy was nicer than he thought. Dalian was kind of expecting some prude old person when he answered the ad. He still felt a little bad for bringing up any questions. It was rather surprising to hear him say it was alright because he lived here. Wait, did his boss just read his mind? Of course not, he supposed his face was just easy to read.
"Ah, I'm glad to hear you aren't ill sir." As friendly as he was he was still his boss. "Read...huh." He was surprised. "Ah, if you want me to of course I can, just let me know what you'd like me to read." He didn't want to assume anything but he did wonder why he decided that. "I imagine its hard to see in the dark for you but you seem to manage fine. You know its not good to read in the dark, it'll damage your eyes." He was rambling again, he wished he could kick himself and tell himself to shut it.
"Thank you for the new bit of information given, I can only see so far with the light I provide." He suddenly found himself fiddling with his thumbs. "I should probably get started on your dinner." Quite a bit of time passed while they spoke even if it didn't feel like it.
"Excuse me while I head back to the kitchen." He didn't know why he suddenly felt a bit anxious he just did. "No requests, right?" He may have said he didn't care but that didn't mean he couldn't change his mind.

Chase's cat eyes brightened in the dark, catching the reflection of the fae's light. He had cat eyes and thus had no issed at all with the darkness. Still, he said nothing on the matter. Oddly enough it was quite endearing watching the little man ramble. It wasn't something he would have thought to have enjoyed but he did.
"I will have a book set aside for you after dinner. And no, I don't care. Carry on with yoru duties," that said, he blended back into the darkness and walked away.

For a moment Dalian thought he saw the mans eyes...brighten?" Was that possible? He was a Zercan but... He knew so little about them. He was kind of expecting the man might be annoyed he talked so much but he didn't comment. That was a relief on his part.
"Ah, alright." Just like that the man was gone. "Wow." That man definitely was a mysterious one.
A few minutes later he was in the kitchen cooking dinner. He brightened up a bit more to help him work on the stove. He was chopping and washing and seasoning things. He was a good cook on his own but he followed the menu set up. He didn't want to make something the man didn't like. He was a Fae and that man was a Zercan, they had different tastes.
Within the hour he'd finish and serve dinner and leave the man to eat just like he was told.

Chase ate silently as he tracked the glow throughout the house with his eyes. He felt an intense yearning to be close to the man, he want - no - needed to claim him so badly. His hand rose to his face however and reminded him of why he dared not. The little fae had probably never seen something so horrible as him. It wouldn't do to scare his mate or wrose repulse him.
After dinner, Chase went to the sitting room and dropped a book on the table before moving to the other side of the room to the chaise where he lay back in preparation of the story.

While waiting for his employer to finish eating he went about looking over things but mainly cleaning up in the kitchen. He made enough for two but he put his serving aside. He'd eat later but he did snack on a piece of fruit while he waited. The moment he was done in the kitchen he was walking around in the area. He just checked to see when the man was done.
The moment he was he collected the dishes and washed them accordingly. He recalled he was suppose to read for the man so he hurried to the sitting room.
"Sorry if I kept you waiting too long." He took the book off the table and sat by the nearest chair. Was there a bookmark here? "Um...I'll start from the beginning since I don't see any marker in here." That said he began to read out loud, a faint blush on his cheeks. He couldn't believe he was reading to...this guy here. It felt a little awkward but he loved to read so it wasn't a problem.

Chase couldn't have told you the name of the book if you'd asked him or even what it was about. He just used the time to stare at the man, taking in his beauty while trying to restrain his beast. He didn't know how long he could withold claiming his mate.

Dalian continued to read the book wondering why the man would be interested in this adventure story. It seemed like a classic but at least it wasn't boring. More so when he saw that there was a couple in it traveling to together. It was a whole group but two in particular that really caught his eye. The couple was a male and female though so he figured the book was imported from Earth but all the same it was good.
"After a long days journey the group decided to settle down and make a camp." The book seemed to be a continuation from another one but it seemed easy to pick up on things. "Hara took this chance to speak with Mal in private, she knew it would be difficult later. After slaying the beast so many nights ago now she knew exactly how she felt and he needed to know." She was obviously going to confess.
A paragraph or two later he found himself reading the moment they were alone.
"'I know now might not be the best time but...' Hara trailed off only to find her sentence cut off by the lush ravenous lips of her hero, Mal. It was a kiss that told her she wasn't alone, he shared her feelings."
Just like that Dalian closed the book with a wistful sigh. "Ah, she's so lucky, I wish I had someone like that." He looked off in a dreamy state, cheeks slightly red. For a moment he forgot he wasn't alone. "Oh." He jumped up a bit completely red.
"S-Sorry, I got caught up um-" He cut himself off and opened the book back up. "You want me to continue reading, or is that enough?" He took a moment to look through the dark to catch that large figure but quickly cast his gaze down at the pages. Why was he embarrassing himself so much? Even though he couldn't see the mans eyes he felt himself being watched and that just.... He had no words for how horribly embarrassed he was.

"You do have someone like that, little one. Give it time," he could not resist saying. "That is enough for tonight. Go eat your dinner and rest. Tomorrow awaits us." That said, without ever stepping into the light, Chase made for his bedroom.

Surprised Dalian parted his lips to speak at the random statement but paused when he heard his employer speak again. "Ah alright sir, good night." He was still quite red but he was glad the man said no more on it. Of course he figured that he would meet someone one day but he didn't think that would happen while he was here.
Sitting there a few seconds longer Dalian let his thoughts wander before his stomach told him of the time. He should eat dinner, He took a quick glance around and grabbed the nearest thing that could work as a make-shift bookmark before hurrying to the kitchen. That guy, as mysterious as he was, really was nice. Why didn't someone like him have a mate?
"So strange..." He muttered the words while getting his food out. He had to warm it back up a bit but it was still good.
Several minutes later when he had finished eating he washed up and headed to his room. Not before making sure the place looked clean and proper. He got extra bright for that before dulling down again. The moment that was done he hurried off to his bedroom. Tomorrow he figured he'd really take a look around after making breakfast.
