Devon was startled by Chiaki's question. He had never quite questioned the way his parents had come about him. It couldn't have been adoption-Taki (his mother) was always saying how much he looked like his father. Maybe his father had had a relationship with a woman at one point? Either way, he wasn't quite sure two men could have a child, it was unheard of. It went against everything he had ever learned in school. "I uh...I don't..." he paused at the sound of light footsteps on stairs, of the appearance of his mothers shadows on the floor.
The man coming down the stairs was quite obviously japanese. His dark hair was cut short, much like his sons, and tapered to jagged points below his chin. He was tall, slender, with a rounded figure. Giving birth had changed him and they were noticable changes although human didn't understand. Dark eyes widened and he let out a small grin, self-conciously pulling at a robe he had thought to pull on before coming down to greet Devon. "H..hello there." His eyes studied the young boy, taking in his red eyes and silver hair. He nodded in approval and turned a fond gaze to his son. "Devon..you're very late. I was worried. Who is your guest?" Devon caught the subtle hint in dark eyes, the all to knowing air of mischief set to his mothers shoulders.
"This is my...." He paused. He didn't want to say lover. That seemed to shallow, yet he didn't know if he should use the word mate. But boyfriend didn't describe it either. Ah hell! "My mate, Chiaki. Chiaki, this is my mother." He watched his mothers dark eyes go wide, watched him stumble forward, circling them with a questioning gaze.
"A.....and you're sure? I mean, you father said it took forever for a Zercan to find it's bond mate. He didn't find me until we were...I can't even recall." Devon watched him with mute fascination, his arm circling Chiaki's waist. He didn't understand one word his estatic mother was babbling. Bond mate? Zercan? He was quite confused, as he was sure his angel was, and intent on finding out what had been missing from his mind the last nineteen years-knowledge of his father and his parents past.
"Mom...we're....yes we're sure. There's no one else I've even looked at and...I love Chiaki," he said proudly, gazing at the boy for a second, a grin lighting his face. "Now, how about we all go sit down for a second and you explain to us what this is all about?" He raised a dark brow and watched as panic filled his mothers face. It seemed he had let out one too many secrets that he had been intent on hiding. Finally he nodded, motioning towards the dark livingroom.
"I'll be right in," and then he was disappearing back up the stairs, and into his bedroom. Devon presumed it was for clothes. He snuggled his face into Chikai's hair for a second, amused that it was only his scent he could smell-no one elses. This boys seemed to be the only essence that filled his nose. Nipping playfully at an ear he pulled back. "Talk, then showers, then bed," he murmured and resting a hand on the small of the boys back, he steered him towards the livingroom.

Chiaki was nervous about meeting his mate’s mother. For one thing, he’d never met a mother that was male and wondered if he’d be different from other mothers. If the other didn’t like him, maybe Devon wouldn’t like anymore either. He didn’t want Devon to dislike him for any reason. Devon meant a lot to him and it was important to him that the other’s relatives liked him too. It wouldn’t have been right to make Devon chose between his mother and him. The other shouldn’t have to choose and Chiaki didn’t want to put him in that sort of position. That’s why he was going to do his best to make Devon’s mother like him. He’d be extra polite and very quiet so he didn’t annoy anyone. Sometimes he tended to be annoying, or at least that’s what he was told. Chiaki didn’t want to make a nuisance of himself or give anyone a reason to be mad at him. Making a good first impression was very important. It made him feel self-conscious about himself when Devon’s mother came down. He wasn’t dressed in anything fancy, his hair was a mess, he was dirty, and he was sure the other would say something about his odd eye and hair color. Chiaki shifted from foot to foot and looked a little nervous. He took quick glances at Devon and at the man’s mother, trying not to look scared and like he had no idea what to do.
When he finally got a good look at the man, he supposed the other wasn’t very scary at all. The man seemed like a nice person and Chiaki hoped he was kind. He saw a lot of Devon in the other, which was obvious since the two were related so closely. The two had a good relationship and seemed to be able to tell each other things. Chiaki and his mother weren’t like that at all. Telling her something only ended badly and the boy had learned to keep things to himself. It was obvious this man wasn’t used to his son bringing home people and Chiaki felt relieved. He didn’t like the thought of Devon being around with lots of other people besides him. He wanted to the most important to Devon, not someone else. He wanted to have a good relationship with Devon like the other had with his mother. Devon was so open with this person and Chiaki wanted the other to be open with him too. He supposed it’d take some time for them to have such a relationship, but he’d work hard. When the other called him his mate, it made Chiaki really happy. The other had called him such a thing in front of his mother and it made the red eyed boy feel proud.
He thought of the other as his mate too, but he hadn’t known what it meant. It seemed pretty important because the other’s mother seemed very surprised and was questioning his mate. Half the things the other was talking about made no sense to Chiaki. He was glad the other held him tightly and that he wasn’t expected to say anything because he was very confused. He watched the mother observe them and make comments. It seemed they were all going to talk about something and Chiaki was hoping for an explanation. He didn’t see the big deal about the whole thing and wondered what was going on. He let his mate steer him to the living room and sat down with the other. He hoped the other’s mother came back because that man seemed to be the only one that knew anything. Chiaki leaned against the other and hung onto the man’s arm. He was really tired now and he wasn’t sure he’d be awake to hear the entire conversation.
“Ne, do you think he likes me?” Asked the boy softly. “He didn’t really say anything about that… But do you think your mother likes me? I don’t know what he was talking about, though… Ne, what’s going on Devon?”

Devon lead the boy to the couch, helping him sit gingerly before collapsing beside him. He slouched down and pulled Chiaki's hand into his lap, flipping it and running tiny circles over the firm palm. "I think he adores you," he murmured, wholly caught up in the swirls of lines in the creamy skin. "As for what's going on...I have no idea. As I said, my father died before I was born. The only thing I knew was that he...worked ina shipping company I think. I don't know his past, nor do I even know his name. Mom's been pretty tight lipped about the whole thing. I think us coming in here, claiming this put him on edge and he said those things."
Nodding he flipped the hand and brought it to his lips, touching the feathery pads to the others knuckles. The wait was tiring, seeing as how their activities, while pleasurable, had been more than enough to exhaust both of them. He merely wanted to shower, to wipe off the grime his skin had accumulated in the alley, and curl himself around the other. His mother took his sweet old time coming back and then he wasn't even dressed. His hair was mused, as if he had been running through his packed closet to find something. He took a seat across from them, in the sinking arm chair and set the box in his lap, looking over them both.
"Dev, I've never told you anything about Maddox-he's your father. I had put him behind me when I came back...when I reached home and moved here to Australia. I suggest you make yourselves comfortable, my story is not a very short one." He paused while Devon settled down, pulling Chiaki to rest against his side.
"Maddox and I met in Japan when I was at university. I was lonely-he was ruthless in his advances. Needless to say, we fell in love quickly and..um...consumated that feeling in my dorm. The next day he insisted on whisking me away. Devon, that was the night I conceived you," he held up his hand when Devon moved to speak, the questions pulsing behind his crimson eyes. "You see, Maddox was not from around here, He was not even of this earth. There are a handful of other planets not yet discovered by Earths scientists. They hold millions of people that spend their lives searching for their one and only's...atleast that was what I gathered. Devon, you are half human, half Zercan. That is why-since you were but a baby, you were able to transform your body into a cat. Of course, you have more control over it. Usually, a half-breed has a minimal amount of control.
Anyways, even young Zercans start their quests for their mates when they are, most usually, in their teens. It may take years, or the young one may be lucky and find them early. Either way-when the couple bonds, when they make love for the first time," the man paused and watched the teens cheeks burn, " and when the...what are they called now? Oh yes, when the seme releases in his lovers body-filling the submissive with his essence, then a child...a kit, is conceived. That is why I was quite suprised. And wary...Devon..have you and Chiaki..? Um...well, you know," now he seemed quite embarassed, shifting his body. Devon could only blush, remembering his satisfaction when he had been buried inside of the boy he was holding. Taki murmured a silent, "I see," before reaching for the box.
"In that case. Chiaki, you are now carrying my sons child and Devon...this..this is for you," he held out the small wodden box and Dev leaned to take it, feeling the soft wood slightly splinter below his hands. He opened it and gasped at the intircate pattern of the sword set with rubies on the end of a delicate silver chain. There was a small pendant that matched and he supposed he was supposed to give the other to Chiaki and wear the larger of the two. "Your father bought them when we found out I was pregnant...he was to place the one on you when you were born and present the other to your mate when he was found. Now..." He sat back and watched the expressions dart over both boys faces.

Chiaki wasn’t sure what to say. For starters, he was glad Devon’s mother liked him. He had already been thinking of all the bad things that could happen if the other didn’t like him and had been very nervous about it. His mother had never gotten along with his grandmother and bad things always happened because of it. They were always arguing and many outings had been ruined because of the two. Chiaki hadn’t wanted to be like that. He disliked arguments and hated it when people yelled. Chiaki supposed he was a very skittish person. Loud things startled him easily and he was never comfortable when people were yelling. If Devon’s mother had yelled at him, he was sure he would have cried. Chiaki really didn’t want to cry in front of Devon. He didn’t want the other to think he was a child or that he wasn’t capable of taking care of himself. Chiaki knew he wasn’t always the most responsible person or that he was very forgetful, but that didn’t meant he was defenseless. He had been taking care of himself for a long time now. Even though he had parents and was always surrounded by people, he was still always alone. It seemed like he had been left behind or forgotten. Chiaki hadn’t liked it one bit. That’s why he had learned to rely on himself and used a rough personality when he felt threatened or scared. It usually repelled people and made them leave him alone.
He wasn’t sure what to say to the other about his father’s death. Chiaki had never had a parents die, but they weren’t close at all because they chose for things to be like that. Devon hadn’t been given a chance to form a bond with his father. The man had been taken from his life so early on and it was sad to think about. Chiaki knew he didn’t have any words to make the other feel better, but sometimes silence worked best. Sometimes it was just alright to not say anything at all. He let the other fondle his hand and didn’t make a sign of protest at all. He rather liked having the other touch him like this anyway. It was a good feeling to know there was someone that cherished him and wanted to caress him like this. Chiaki had never had someone be as kind to him as Devon was. The man acted as though he was the most important thing in the world and that made the silver haired boy feel very special. Sure the little things Devon did would have been insignificant to someone else, but then meant a great deal to Chiaki. It was just another way for Devon to tell him he loved him. All those things he did were just forms of the other’s love. Chiaki really liked that.
The red eyed boy was sure his face had turned red when the other had kissed his hand. Sure they had kissed many times before and even done more than that, but the gesture had been so incredibly sweet and had made Chiaki blush for some reason. Sometimes Devon acted really cute like that. Those sorts of things made Chiaki want to smile often. He looked up when Devon’s mother returned. The man had taken quite a bit of time and Chiaki had wondered what he had been up to. He was very tired and wanted to get through with this quickly. The man was looking at him though and just thinking about it made him shift uncomfortably. He hoped he hadn’t done anything wrong. If he had, he’d just apologize and hope that was enough. Chiaki was always a bit nervous around serious people and this man seemed very serious indeed. It seemed he had something important to say. Chiaki had gotten better at telling when someone had something important to say or not. He was used to being around people who never smiled or cracked jokes. The house he had grown up in was a very cold house. No laughter or signs or happiness, just a perfect house with an eerie silence.
When the other had started speaking, Chiaki had been confused. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to hear about the other’s life, but he had no idea what relevance it had to their current situation. Chiaki listened anyway and clung to Devon as the other’s mother continued. He was a bit disappointed to hear this was a long story because he was very tired. It was nice of his mate to hold him, though. Still, he hoped the other wasn’t going to be as long as he said he’d be. Chiaki was having trouble keeping his eyes open now and he was only half listening at this point. Devon’s mother was talking about such odd things and he had no idea what the man was saying. He caught bits and pieces, but couldn’t make sense of them. Did the guy just claim Devon’s father was an alien? Chiaki had never been the sort of person that believed in supernatural things or anything of the sort. Supernatural things had never appealed to him. While some people were fanatics about such things, he had always preferred to be realistic about things. He didn’t like things that couldn’t be proven and until there was hard evidence on something, he didn’t believe it. That’s why it came as such a surprise that Devon’s mother was into that sort of thing.
Of course, he wasn’t sure if what the other was saying or not was true, but he’d believe it if Devon did. Some of the things were very confusing and Chiaki wasn’t sure he’d even heard it right. At the moment, he didn’t really care much about the other’s story. After all, he had never believed in aliens before and not only that but he had no idea what the guy was talking about. It wasn’t very long before Chiaki was fast asleep, leaning on Devon. It seemed the exhaustion had been too much for him and he hadn’t been able to keep his eyes open. The boy was never good at staying up very late. He was used to going to bed early, but hadn’t been sleeping right since he had been dragged around from club to club. So he had closed his eyes for a second and that second had somehow become much longer because he didn’t open his eyes again and was fast asleep.

Devon was practically speechless. After the whole story had been relayed he just sat there, crimson eyes sliding over the jewelry nestled in the box, feeling Chiaki's warm weight still in his arms. It was only when his mother stood, when the man moved towards the door that he looked up.
"Take care of your little one there Devon. He must be positively exhausted...I do believe he's sleeping," and then he swept away, his retreating footfalls disappearing up the stairs. Devon closed the box and leaned to set it on the coffee table for in the morning, gently shifting Chiaki. Indeed, the younger had fallen asleep and he smiled, pressing a warm kiss to the boys forehead. "Don't worry," he whispered, moving to pull him up into his arms so he could get him up to bed, " i'll take care of you angel, forever. I promise." He needed time to absorb everything his mother had just revealed. Who wouldn't? It was alot of buried secrets that he needed to think over. Of course, the one thing that caught his mind above all was the fact that Taki had said Chiaki would be carrying his child.
Now, Devon had never been a great student in school. He didn't need to study and homework was a waste of time. He did good on his tests and when he hadn't slept or skipped he'd done exceptional in his classes. It wasn't hard to pass and he prided himself on the things he learned with his family constantly moving. One of those things was that only females could become pregnant-that only women had the organs to substain a life. He understood that his father was different and that obviously, he was different too but he couldn't quite grasp how the boy could have his child. It was just something he'd have to wait to see for himself. Cuddling Chiaki in his arms, he maneuvered up the stairs, toeing his door open.
Even with the lights off he could sense most of the furniture in his room, something he found came in handy when the electric was turned off. Quickly he made his way to the bed and settled his love, watching him. It wouldn't be nice to leave him without getting cleaned, yet, he didn't want to wake him. Chiaki looked so peaceful. He pulled out night clothes for himself and a large t-shirt for Chiaki and went into the bathroom to get a quick shower. Once he was cleaned he pulled on a night shirt and boxers, grabbed a warm, wet washcloth and a towel, and went back out into the room. The other was still sleeping. It was a bit hard to strip him, but he eventually got the boy stripped down to the lacy panties, gently sliding them off to lay with the pile on the floor.
Gently, lovingly he washed him free of dirt, towelled him off and dressed him in the over large shirt and a pair of his older, smaller boxers. He picled up all clothing and moved into the hallway, down two doors, and right into the wash room. Tired now, he turned on the washer, throwing the clothes in to wash overnight. They'd sit there after they were done and when he woke up he'd throw them into the dryer. That way Chiaki could have all of his clothes cleaned. Sighing, he went back to his room and clicked the door closed, walking over and slumping down onto the less than comfortable matress. He watched Chiaki breath, watched the gentle rise and fall of the thin chest before curling around him, pulling the warm body into his welcoming arms. Before he went to sleep he lay a few affectionate kisses on the shell of an ear and over closed eyelids before dropping off, deep sleep taking over his exhausted mind.

Where was he? Chiaki opened his eyes and looked around the room. This mattress hadn’t felt like his bed and he had been confused as to where he was. Chiaki was used to waking up at the same time and in the same bed every day. His mother ran a tight schedule, even when she wasn’t home. Everything she did was timed perfectly and Chiaki had never been given the opportunity to sleep in. Every day he always awoke at six in the morning. As he turned around to look at the clock, he noted it was past six. This was confusing. If he had no woken by six, the maids usually came to his room. It was odd no one had disturbed him. Chiaki was used to being annoyed early in the morning. Even though he lived a luxurious life, it was a hard one as well. Everything had always been hectic and sometimes confusing. He had always wanted to sleep in and now that he had, he was confused as to why he had been allowed to sleep in. That’s when he realized there was someone holding him. The boy smiled when he realized who it was. Everything made sense now. He was in Devon’s house. People wouldn’t barge into his room yelling at him here. Chiaki had never liked that. He glanced around the room one more time to make sure he memorized every detail. It was nothing like his room to say the least.
For one thing, his room was five times bigger than this room, which often gave Chiaki nightmares since the shadows made odd shapes at night. The bed was much softer, but somehow, this bed didn’t feel the least bit empty or cold. The red eyed boy rather liked this room. Even though it was nothing like his own, it made him feel safe, but that was probably because his mate was here. He supposed it’d be best if he asked Devon about the whole mating thing. It had confused him and he hadn’t gotten half of what the other’s mother had said. Chiaki felt bad for falling asleep like that, but he couldn’t help it. He had been very tired after what he had done with Devon. Chiaki reached out to touch the other’s face. He pushed back the man’s hair and wondered why someone like this had chosen him. He wasn’t the prettiest boy and there were better people around. Still, he was happy this boy had chosen him.
The boy looked down at his clothes and noted he was wearing someone else’s clothes. He figured they were Devon’s clothes and the thought brought a slight tint of red to his cheeks. He’d never worn someone else’s clothes before and Devon’s scent was all over them. Even though it was hard to explain, Devon had a particular scent to him Chiaki really liked the scent. It was a combination of lots of things that blended together to make up something unique. Chiaki lied down again and pressed himself closer to the boy that was next to him. He wrapped his arms around the other’s neck and rested his head on the man’s chest. Devon was just so warm. Chiaki rubbed his legs against the other’s. It was nice to feel the man’s bare skin against his. Chiaki was enjoying being like this with Devon.
“Devoooon!” The boy whined. “Wake up Devon! I can’t sleep anymore. I’m bored now too. Devon! Wake up Devon.”
He rolled over so that he was on top of the other, waiting for his lover to awaken. Now, Chiaki didn’t like being woken up, but this was different. He was confused and wanted to make sure he knew what was going on. Besides that, he had to call his brothers so they didn’t’ get worried. Even though the two were irresponsible, they’d definitely notice now that he wasn’t at home. He was always the first one up and about, so they’d definitely know if he weren’t home. Chiaki didn’t want to go home yet, but he wanted to make sure no one was worried. He wanted to stay here with Devon. He didn’t want to go anywhere, especially not home. Chiaki wanted this to be his new home and he hoped Devon would allow it. Of course, it might not work out since his parents would never allow it, though… Still, it was worth a shot, though. The teen really didn’t want to leave this person alone.

Devon shifted in sleep, groaning. There was definately a weight on him, and he was hearing a voice begging for him to get up. Cracking bleary eyes open he turned his face to the clock, horrified to see the time. He'd slept in! He moved to get up, only to come face to face with Chiaki. Squeaking he lay back, rubbing at his eyes and yawning. Only then did his sleep clouded mind clear, putting a soft smile on his face. Screw work, he had his mate here. Letting his crimson eyes open once more he let his hands slip onto a thin waist. "Morning angel," his voice was husky, raw from sleep and he tried licking his lips to make it go away.
He always hated the way his voice scratched early in the morning. It made him sound funny. "You fell asleep before mom could tell us anything," he murmured, glad to see it was working. He let his hands run under the shirt to stroke at soft skin, to touch the little invertebrete of his lovers back. "I have something for you when we go downstairs, and our clothes need to go in the dryer then. Mom's probably at work already so....do you need to do anything?" His mother worked at the same resteraunt right about now as him. Maybe he'd called Devon in sick. He hoped so. As he looked in Chiaki's eyes and the silver hair that shone in the morning light he knew he wouldn't be going anywhere, anytime too soon.

He smiled down at the other when he woke up. Chiaki could get used to this. Waking up next to Devon was way better than waking up alone. If he got scared, Devon was here and if was cold, all he had to do was snuggle closer to Devon. It was quite perfect. He looked at the other and noted that Devon too was surprised by the time. He supposed the other wasn’t used to waking up so late. Perhaps the other was an early riser? Another thought struck Chiaki, what if Devon had something to do today? He hadn’t meant to interfere with his mate’s plans. He knew people didn’t like to get off track and Devon seemed like the type of person that ran on a schedule. He had probably disrupted that schedule with his presence. He had bothered the other at work last night and besides that he had kept the other busy last night. Devon was probably still tired because of what they had done. Chiaki was still a little tired and very sore too. He hadn’t noticed it before, but his waist hurt and his legs felt like they were made of jelly and certainly wouldn’t be able to help him walk. It sucked really, but there wasn’t anything he could really do about it. What’s done was done. Still, as the other greeted him, he couldn’t help but push everything aside and think of only the wonderful person under him.
“Good morning Devon!” Exclaimed the boy cheerfully.
His cheeks became flushed when the other slid a hand up his shirt. Chiaki couldn’t help but shiver a little. This reminded him of the other things Devon had done to him. It felt nice but made him heat up at the same time. He couldn’t help but blush and hoped the other wouldn’t mind. He hadn’t meant to blush, but it had happened anyway. When he looked into the other’s face, he couldn’t help but let his smile grow. When the other looked at him like that, he couldn’t help but fall in love all over again. All Devon had to do was look at him fondly with that expression and Chiaki couldn’t help but melt. It was such a girly thing really, but he couldn’t help it. Devon made him feel like a school girl with a crush. But maybe that wasn’t so bad.
“I didn’t mean…to fall asleep…” muttered the boy. “I was really tired…sorry Devon. I won’t fall asleep next time! I promise! Something…for me? Really?! Is it a present?! Ne, can we get changed Devon? Eh? Your mother works? I don’t think my mother works…unless shopping and wasting money is a job because she’s really good at that… I don’t need anything Devon, don’t worry about me. Ne, your mother isn’t like my mother at all. Your mother is so nice! I don’t think my mother likes me very much…”
His mother wasn’t nice at all. She yelled a lot when she was home and tended to neglect her children when she wasn’t ‘in the mood to deal with them.’ His mother was nothing like Devon’s mother. He liked his mate’s mother much more. He wished he had had such a mother when he had been growing up. His own mother hadn’t been very nice to him at all and half the time she even forgot his name. It was sad really, but Chiaki realized that if he stayed out of her way, she left him alone. Sometimes she even forgot he existed, but he had learned to rely on himself with such parents. Chiaki had learned from an early age that he h had to be independent and do things for himself. Other people weren’t going to do things for him, so he had to do them for himself. Chiaki had learned to do many different things and it was all those experiences that had made him the way he was today. But Chiaki knew that with Devon, things would be different. He knew that if he was with Devon, everything would be alright.

He grinned at the happy exclamation, at the beautiful blush that streaked over the others pale, smooth cheeks. Chiaki really was beautiful, adorable, and Devon found himself asking why the other had ended up with him. It was strange but...nice. Really nice. He loved the other, loved how tha smaller body fit perfectly against his own. And the shiver...it was good to know he could initiate a reaction in his lover. He could make the boy squirm, make him cry out in pleasure. He nodded once the othe rbagan speaking again, rather hurridly.
"It's alright Chiaki, you were tired and I understand. You fall asleep any time you want little one, i'm not going to get mad. Yes, something for you...it is a present but...well it's sort of from my father. I'll get you presents too, but this one is special. It's a symbol of...what we mean to eachother, I guess." He let his fingers work their way back down to rest softly on the small of Chiaki's back, holding the boy against him. "We'll just wear these for now since we don't have to go out. The others are in the wash. I throw them in the dryer before breakfast, k? By the time we're done eating and I show you your present, then we can get dressed all over again." He listened to the part about Chiaki's mother, frowning.
How could she not like Chiaki? He was wonderful, his hair, eyes, everything about him was perfect. He watched a film move over his mates eyes as he thought. He didn't like the small frown that had appeared on the boys face, nor the thinking lines appearing between his eyes, on his brow. Sitting up suddenly, gently shifting Chiaki so he didn't feel any pain, he smiled. "Well, that's good cause my mother like you very much too." He slipped to the edge of the bed and hopped off, stretching. His shirt rode up his stomache and he yanked it back down, scratching lightly above the waistband of his boxers. Afterwards he offered a hand to Chiaki.
"Come on angel, lets go eat. Are you hungry?" He vaguly thought of the fact that his tiny lover was going to be in pain, a sore burning pain. He'd offer any help he could but he wanted to give Chiaki his necklace, to watch the glittering ruby jewel glistening against his chest.

“I’ll still try not to fall asleep…” giggled the boy. “I hope your mother’s not very mad. I’ll like anything you give me Devon. It’s okay if I wear these clothes for a while. I like wearing your clothes Devon. They’re nice and comfortable. Ne, I like your room too. My room is kind of scary sometimes… It’s really big and I don’t like being all alone. I wish I lived here with you. I don’t like being all alone… Sometimes I get scared when there’s not someone with me. Ne, don’t leave me all alone Devon.”
It was a scary thing to be all alone. To wake up from a nightmare and realize that no one had heard your screams or to come home and not have someone to greet. Chiaki wanted those things. He didn’t like having no one there for him. He wanted someone he could share secrets with or just have someone to talk to when he felt like saying something. Those were the kinds of things the boy wished for. He didn’t need Devon to buy him things or anything of the sort. If he had wanted that, he would have stayed home and let his parents spoil him. They did that often…give him presents to stop him from annoying them. Instead of love, they gave him material possessions and expected him to be fine with it. They didn’t want him love and he had stopped looking for theirs. They had a mutual agreement that they didn’t need each other. Chiaki had never known his parents very well. Even though they lived in the same house, they hardly say each other except for the occasional family dinner that always consisted of silence. It wasn’t like they weren’t allowed to talk, but everyone had given up on finding something they could all talk about. They knew nothing about each other and were no better than strangers. It was better not to say anything at all.
But…with Devon it was different. Even though he’d known the other for a shorter time than his parents, it felt like they had known each other forever. They understood each other and when Chiaki was with this person, he felt very complete. Most of all, Chiaki felt wanted. He felt like he actually had a purpose in this world and like there was someone out there that needed him. There were no awkward silences or uncomfortable conversations. With this man, he could be himself and that was all that was required of him. This person was the one he loved the most. He felt complete when he was with the other. It wasn’t lonely at all with this person. That’s why he liked being Devon. The other didn’t make him feel lonely and he wasn’t so scared anymore. Things were less scary when he was with this person.
“I’m glad your mother likes me…” muttered the boy. “I really wanted him to like me… He’d a kind person and you’re very lucky to have such a mother. This place…I can tell it’s really warm. I like being here. I wish we could be like this forever. I really like being here.”
It was true; he liked being here a lot. The boy reached out and took the other’s hand. It was soft and warm. The boy couldn’t help but grin brightly as the other touched him. It was nice being with the other. His cheeks were tinted with red again. The boy gave another giggle as the other pulled him up. He felt so happy right now. Even though he hadn’t giggled before, he couldn’t help but feel so happy right now. He felt so sore and his legs felt weak but he stood anyway. After a step, the boy went crashing into the other’s chest. He clung to the other tightly.
“Breakfast would be nice, but I can’t really walk…” the boy said, quite embarrassed. “It…hurts… It’s okay that it hurts, but I can’t really walk…”

Devons arms closed around Chiaki and he held the other to him, rubbing at his lower back to sooth the tight soreness. He knew the other still hurt, would continue to hurt for a bit. It would get better, he reasoned and smiling, bent to scoop the other in his arms, “Don’t worry, poor angel. That only means I get to carry you,” he settled the boy, letting the other curl arms around his neck and moved.
Te door was a bit tricky but he finally got it opened and stepped out in the morning chill of the hallway. As expected, the house was quiet and he walked towards the laundry room. He set Chiaki on the table set in the middle of the room momentarily so he could go about getting his task done. Their clothes were nothing more than a ball of wet cloth in the washer and he carefully took out each item, shaking them out and then placing them in the dryer. He set it on low heat so it wouldn’t ruin the lace and went back to scoop his lover in his arms.
“Okay…if I’m not mistaken, I think I smell pancakes…” A peek in the kitchen confirmed it and he settled Chiaki in a chair. He made up two plates of the fluffy breakfast food, giving one to the boy before gathering up forks, syrup, and glasses of milk for both of them. Afterwards, he darted into the living room to grab the box, returning and seating himself across from Chiaki. He felt warm, liquidly tired. As he cut his pancakes into tiny squares his hand snaked to the box. Inside was a maelstrom of symbols, of things he hadn’t known about until just last night.
Finding his mate, someone who was so important to him had been surprising, confusing, but so right. And about the pregnancy….that scared him. He couldn’t get himself to believe it, not after years of school pounding it into his brain that it wasn’t possible. He would leave it for now. If Chiaki started acting funny or….something, he would inform his mate, but for now, it was best to leave those things be until they needed to be dredged up.
Slowly, as they ate he recounted everything his mother had told that Chiaki had missed. Only when he was finished did he stand up and move behind the other, lifting the necklace from the velvet to slip it over Chiaki’s head. “There angel,” he murmured as he slipped his on too. “Now we truly belong to each other. That’s what these symbolize, I guess. I wish dad were around to tell us but…” He bent and pressed an affectionate kiss to an ear, ruffling soft, silver hair.

Chiaki liked being carried around. It was nice of Devon to treat him so kindly and for the other to do things for him. The boy had never liked others doing things for him, but he didn’t mind when Devon did them. The other treated him very kindly and worried about him as though he were the most important person in his life. That was the kind of attention Chiaki had always wanted. He had never had someone that would give him constant attention. He had always been by himself and attention starved. It was nice being the center of attention. Chiaki had never felt like someone important. Being the youngest, he was used to being overlooked and given no importance. His brothers were supposed to be the ones that were going to be great, not him. He was just supposed to do what he was told and be another obedient pawn in his parents’ game. He wasn’t supposed to fall in love like this or throw away the future his parents had set for him. But even though he was going against everything, Chiaki didn’t want to go back. He didn’t want to be that lonely person again. Chiaki didn’t want to follow the rules that had been set for him or follow the path his parents had made for him. He wanted to do his own thing now. He wanted to be with this person and it was alright if he had to lose everything to be with this man.
Chiaki glanced around the house as he was carried to the laundry room. He watched the man put their clothes in the dryer and wished he could learn to do housework. He did most of his own things, but there were some thing he didn’t know how to do yet, mostly because his parents didn’t let him do housework. It was pretty interesting to watch the other clean their clothes. He’d never seen someone do laundry before and even though it wasn’t the most interesting thing to do, he wanted to watch anyway. Maybe Devon would teach him how to do housework later. He wanted to become a good bride for Devon and he knew brides were supposed to know how to cook and clean. At least…that’s what the girls at school always ranted about. They said all kinds of things and Chiaki picked up on most of them. He wondered if he could pick up more tips and such to become a good bride for Devon. He didn’t want to be useless to the other. He wanted to be able to do something for the man.
He let the other pick him up and looked at the food that was set down in front of him. He started eating when he felt his stomach growl and quickly finished his meal. It was rather good and Chiaki wanted to learn to cook too. He blinked when he felt something against his chest. He looked down at the necklace that was around his chest and glanced up at Devon. He couldn’t help but give the other a grin as he heard the other’s words. He liked this sort of thing… Just being with Devon and knowing he belonged to him made him feel happy. He wanted to have more mornings like this. He felt really happy right now and didn’t want this to end. When things were like this, he couldn’t help but feel like he was special.
“I really like the necklace,” Chiaki said warmly. “Thank you Devon. I’m sorry your father isn’t here… I love you so much. Ne, do you think we can have more mornings like this? I really like it when things are like this. I don’t want to leave you ever. Let’s just be together forever, okay?”

Devon smiled his appreciation of the words and nodded. "I love you too, angel...Chiaki," he sat back down beside his mate this time, taking his hand and bringing it to his cheek. He nuzzled at it. "I think it would be heavenly to wake up to your adorable face every morning and know I have you to come home to," he gave the other a look, his crimson eyes unshielded. For once he felt like being totally open, like he didn't have to hide his true self from this boy.
He wanted to make him happy, to keep him always by his side. Leaning he place his chin into an open palm, regarding his mate lazily. "If...well, if they'll speak to me, i'd like to meet your parents sometime. I want you to be with me always, but I can't do that unless we talk your parents into it before you're legal...or...we run away," he didn't like that option very much. He wouldn't know where to go, let alone have enough money to give Chiaki the good life. He supposed he could dip into his savings. It was for a good cause, and he would get to spend all the time in the world with his angel. He just didn't want the boy to hate him when they hit a rough spot, or when he couldn't get him something.
Not that Chiaki was like that. Devon knew the other wouldn't mind if he hadn't the money or if all he had to offer was his love. The boy was just that accepting, that innocent. Devon had know it when he'd seen him sitting in the corner of the club, when he'd chased him down the street, and even when he'd taken him in the alley. Everything about his Chiaki screamed innocence and he wanted to keep it that way. He wanted to preserve every little movement, and blank look. It was even more adorable. Sighing he reached for the phone that was just on the counter, not far enough to get up.
"I'll just make a call to get off of work today. I've been meaning to take some vacation time anyways. Do you want to call someone at home just to let them know that you're alright and that...I dunno," he shrugged and put the phone to his ear, waiting for his boss to pick up.

“I like it…when you say things like that…” muttered Chiaki shyly. “You make me feel important Devon and I really like that. Ne, I want to be by your side always. If it’s okay, I’d like us to be together always. When I’m with you, I don’t feel lonely, so let’s stay together always”
Devon said such cute things to him sometimes. They made Chiaki blush a little and gave him that same warm feeling again. He couldn’t help but turn redder when the other touched his hand. It wasn’t like they hadn’t gotten even farther than that, but Chiaki was an innocent person and these types of things made him want to blush. Devon was a sincere person. Chiaki could tell that the other hadn’t lied to him about anything. Usually, Chiaki had to keep his guard up. He was used to lies and other things of the sort. He hated being lied to. It made him feel angry to know someone was deceiving him. He hoped Devon never felt the need to lie. He hoped the other could tell him everything. Chiaki wanted that sort of relationship with the other. He wanted a bond where they could tell each other everything. That’s what he wanted.
“They would never let me…” Chiaki told the other sadly. “They would never let me be with you. I was never given a choice about my future. Everything had been decided for me and I never questioned it before. To me, it hadn’t mattered at all. Even when they had done things I hadn’t liked, I had never complained. It was just the way everything was and I figured that was just how life was supposed to be. But…I don’t want to become the person they want. I just want us to be together. If they find out, they’ll probably kick me out of the house or do worse. Yukito-nii is the heir to the company and Hiro-kun was supposed to marry the daughter of one of father’s business associates. They had never expected me to amount to anything, so I was to marry someone too…. But I don’t want to …even if they get mad…I’ll refuse.”
That life…he didn’t want it anymore. For all the wealth, it was still a lonely life. Chiaki couldn’t see himself in that life anymore. He didn’t want to be the person they had told him to become and he wanted to stay where there were kind words and friendly smiles. That was what he wanted most of all. The boy would face what was coming if it meant being closer to Devon. When his parents yelled at him, he wouldn’t cry. He’d hold his head up high and he wouldn’t cry once. This time, Chiaki would become strong. He wouldn’t let himself become lonely anymore or anything like that. He’d smile and have a good life with Devon. Even if they threw him away, Chiaki would never regret being with this man.
“I don’t want to call anyone,” admitted the boy. “I probably should call, but I don’t want to. They might come get me and I don’t want to leave yet. I just want to stay here with you for a little while longer…”

“Don’t worry Chiaki, no matter what, I won’t let them take you away from me,” he said it so fiercly he surprised himself. Along with his boss that had just now picked up on the other end. Reassuring Mr. Selam that he was not a prankster and that it was a genuine call, Devon called off. He called off on his other three jobs too, finally setting the phone down.
“That’s that angel. Now we have the entire day to ourselves. You can stay as long as you want, they can't have you.” He was disturbed by what Chiaki had said-about how he was never allowed to have hiw own life. “Agreed babe, we willalways stay together. I’ll never leave you.” He touched his hand to his necklace first, than Chaiki’s in a promise. “And when you’re with me, you’ll have all the choice in the world. No holding yourself back. You can do anything you please Chiaki.” He smiled at him and stood to do dishes, running water.
The other had seemed intrigued by housework earlier and he went to help him up, instructing him to wash the dishes. He would stand by with a towel and dry them then put them away. It was an easy task they could do together, one he was sure Chiaki would get the hang of. Not that he was going to make the kid do all of their chores around the house. He just wanted to be the one to show Chiaki all he had missed in the world.
