Manni pushed in the password and opened the door. He walked up to Captain, who was talking with someone, and waited until the men ended their conversation before stepping up to the Captain. "Hey Captain! What's up?"
Captain smiled. "Ah! Harada, just who I was wanting to see. Harada, I want you to meet your new assisstant, Jauq. He's a Jshiko and he just arrived from Jeskara."
Manni raised an eyebrow. "Weren't we just on Jeskara? Why didn't you get him then?"
"Well, you didn't have a mate then, did you," Mesk asked, "You're going to be leaving, right? Well someone has to take your place. I'm just glad it's not this bozo," he quirked indicating the Captain.

"Ah! Harada, just who I was wanting to see. Harada, I want you to meet your new assisstant, Jauq. He's a Jshiko and he just arrived from Jeskara." Lakin's eyes narrowed momentarily. An assisstant? What would Manni need an assisstant for? He didn't like the idea of his mate hanging around with the Jshiko. All by themselves....

"Well, you didn't have a mate then, did you," Mesk asked, "You're going to be leaving, right? Well someone has to take your place. I'm just glad it's not this bozo," he motioned towards the Captain.
The wizard brightened a tiny bit at that. Jauq was only there to take Manni's place. But how long were until they left? He decided they would leave as soon as possible so Jauq and Manni wouldn't spend anymore time with eachother than necessary. In the back of his mind he knew he was being overly jealous, but he didn't care. Manni wasn't claimed yet, so the other man could still get him. He wrapped an arm around his mate's shoulders, trying to make it look just like a normal gesture, not a possessive one.

Manni laughed at the Captain's scowl and smiled up at Lakin when he threw an arm around him. "Well then, Jauq, it's a pleasure to meet my replacement. I've got a lot to teach you... I hope Mesk won't cause too much trouble," he said, glaring knowingly at the AI. He smiled the Jshiko, who grinned widely.
"I'm sure it won't be a problem. You know, it really is a pleasure to actually meet you. I mean, when I signed up for a job working with computers, they told me about this ship. I was really surprised, you've done a lot with this, being your.... uhm.... replacement.... is really an honor, Mr. Harada."
Manni laughed and shook his head. "Wow, no one's ever called me that before! Please, it's just Harada... Or, better yet, just call me Manni." He glanced up at Lakin, who looked perturbed and grinned up at him. "And this," he stated, turning back to Jauq, "is my mate, Lakin."

'Suck up,' Lakin thought after Jauq's little speech. "Wow, no one's ever called me that before! Please, it's just Harada... Or, better yet, just call me Manni." 'Why should he call you Manni?' he thought angrily. "And this," Manni said, "is my mate, Lakin."
Lakin smiled at Jauq tightly and reached out his hand. "Nice to meet you...Jauq," he said.
The Jshiko smiled and shook his hand. "It's nice to meet you too, Lakin," he said before turning back to Manni. 'Sure it is,' Lakin thought sarcastically.

Manni talked with Jauq for a few more minutes, summarizing most of what he would have to teach the boy. He grabbed Lakin's hand, because he could feel that Lakin was unhappy with Jauq, and walked over to the back room from the other day. He typed in his password and opened the door. He did a quick, three-cent tour of the computer room and closed the door back up. He leaned into Lakin, wrapping his arms around his mate, as he looked at the Jshiko. "So,... any questions?"

Lakin listened half-heartily, mostly because he didn't understand half of what the two engineers were talking about. He'd been staring off into space when he felt Manni hug him, which brought a big smile to his face. "So... any questions?" the brunette asked. Wrapping his arms around his mate as well, he glanced at Jauq.
The man gave Lakin a hesitant look before shaking his head. "No. I can't wait to get to work!" he said excitedly.
'What do you mean 'get to work'?' Lakin thought wryly. When the other two looked at him in surprise he blushed. "Did I say that out loud?"

Manni laughed and nodded. Lakin was blushing, which made the humanoid giggle even more. Though, Jauq didn't look too happy. Manni shot the Jshiko a questioning glance, but the man just averted his gaze. Manni raised an eyebrow at that. "Well, then I can't think of anything else, I think we can afford to go our seperate ways withouth regret. It was nice to meet you Jauq." Jauq nodded with a wide grin and waved before leaving the room. Manni walked back to the Captain and frowned at him.
".... What?"
Manni shook his head. "Who picked that kid?"
"....Me?" Captain answered.
"I don't like him. I get a bad feeling from him; I can tell he's hiding something. I want someone else. I don't trust that kid."

"What's bad about him?" Captain asked. "He seems nice enough to me."
"I don't like him either," Lakin argued.
"You don't like anyone that comes within two feet of Hararda," Captain said, waving him off. The wizard glared, but it seemed to have no effect on the man. "What do you mean he's 'hiding something'?" Captain asked, directing his attention back to Manni.

Manni pouted. "Earlier, we were joking around... errr... I was, and when I looked over at him... I don't know. Just... the look he had, it made me uncomfortable," he wrapped his arms around himself and frowned. "And when he saw me looking, he wouldn't look me in eye after that. He's hiding something."

Lakin frowned as well, and wished he hadn't been spacing out. He wrapped a comforting arm around Manni and held him close. Captain sighed. "I'll see what I can do," was all he said. Lakin glared at him and was about to yell at him, but noticed the man was being sincere.
"When will we arrive on Parinenai?" he asked.
"About thirty minutes," Captain answered.
Lakin nodded and led Manni outside. "What kind of look did he give you?" he asked once they were out in the hallway.

Manni frowned and shook his head, dismissing the subject. "I don't want to talk about it anymore, okay? Let's go back to the room, I want to make sure I have everything for when we arrive." And with that he walked away.

Lakin sighed in frustration. "Manni!" he sighed, running up to catch up with him. "Can't you tell me? I want to know. I'm your mate, afterall. I should know what kind of looks you're getting from guys like Jauq," he said sternly, stopping the boy in his tracks.

Manni frowned sadly up at Lakin. "It's... when he looked at me,... I just... I don't know. My stomach churned." He placed a hand on his stomach to emphasis his statement. "But, there's more to it than that. I... I don't want to talk about now. Can we wait 'til we're in the room? I don't want anyone ease-dropping."

Lakin frowned, not because Manni didn't want to say anything right away. He understood that. It bothered him that some one could have such an effect on his mate, and right under his nose. "Okay, Sweetie," he said softly. He hugged the brunette tightly before heading to the room. When they got there he led Manni to the bed and sat him down before sitting next to him. "Okay, now talk," he said gently, but sternly at the same time.

Manni sat on the bed and sighed. "Well.... Remember back on Jeskara, when I said I didn't like that planet?" Lakin nodded and the trembling humanoid continued. "Well... That's because, when I was younger, about four or five years ago, my family went there to visit my great-great grandfather. Long story short, I was seperated from my family on a really busy street corner. I was wondering around, trying to find them, when this guy came up to me and asked if I was lost. I'd been walking around for a long time and.... and he offered to get me something to eat so I could rest and then he would help me find them." Manni frown at the memory and hugged his stomach. "But... He put a sedative in my food. I didn't know it at the time, but he was a murderer... guy... He was Vampyre, too. He always had this look in his eyes... like I was...prey... it creeped me out, but he was helping me so I ignored it." Manni hugged Lakin, he didn't like remembering this, he'd been able to block it from his mind until Jauq had shown up. He felt his mate nudge him, so he continued the story. "While we were still at the restraunt, I was hyped up on drugs and such and the man told me what he was going to do.... he was going to eat me, Lakin! I screamed out and... and a man the heard saved me... Captain. That's why he spoils me so much, and that's why I made Mesk for him, why I work for him. I owe him my life, you know."
