"Come on, we need to go to my office." Gamma said, taking the boy by the hand and leading him to his office.

Van all but skipped, glancing over his shoulder only once to smile smugly at his siblings as he went.

Gamma went upstairs and sat down in his chair. " Van, you and I need to have a serious talk about how you behave when I'm not here."

"What do you mean, daddy?"he asked softly, kneeling at his daddy's feet.

"I want you to tell me what all that was about today in the kitchen."

[ode]

"It's like I said, daddy," he smiled up at him. "I was being a big boy, a good big boy."

Gamma stared at his son. "So why is your mom wet and with lettuce in his hair? And why did Halen and Misha tell me that you threw your food on him?"

Van's mouth opened wide in feigned shock. "How could they say that? Mama spilled the food when he was making it for me and Misha and Halen laughed, that is why they are ganging up one me." He lied with aplomb.

Gamma stared at his son. Where had he gotten this lying from?

"Son. Stop lying. Tell me the truth."

Van frowned. "I'm not lying. I can't believe you don't believe me, daddy. I thought you loved me."

"I do love you son, but you are lying to me. I am not stupid, and you know you shouldn't treat your mom and brothers that way. I love them just as much as I love you."

Van scowled now before saying lowly. "Now who is lying, daddy?"

"Excuse me?" Gamma asked. "And what do you mean by that?"

"You love only me," Van said sternly.

"What?" Gamma looked at Van. "I do love you, my son. But I love your brothers and your mother as well. If I didn't love your mom, I would've never had you or your brothers."
