Jace laughed sheepishly “Well I’m actually an aspiring author. So far I’ve done some short stories, which is how I’ve been able to afford my new house, but what I’m trying to do is work on a novel. That’s where my problems start. The plots I’ve tried to come up with so far have all been mediocre, done many times before and I want to write something new.” Jace stopped at a red light and glanced over at Shiro, smiling softly at him “I just need to find a muse, something to get me thinking.” Jace turned his attention back to the road when the lights changed again. “But until then I’m looking for a side job, just to earn some extra money”
They continued driving, Shiro telling Jace where to go, and soon they’d reached their destination. Jace parked the car near the building and got out. He turned to Shiro “I forgot to mention in the car, you can call me Jace. Mr. Vicks sounds too formal now that we know each other better.”

Shiro listened intently, the faintest smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he he did, "A muse huh?" he murmured turning his attention to the road. "I'm sure you'll be able to find something you could enjoy, if all else fails you could start printing up manuscripts like I do, you know for personal things, just a suggestion," he told him. They arrived, and they both stepped out of the car. Shiro grabbed his supplies and hid his body under his cloak, snatching the keys from the office and walking quickly to his garage.
He looked back at Jace, "If it bothers you so much, I suppose I'll cut back a little, Just don't expect me to greet you as Jace, or introduce you should the need come, we may know a little about each other but that doesn't make us friends, we've only known each other for two days," he said in the most polite way possible, he was glad someone was trying to be friends but friendships weren't built in a day.
He unlocked the door and lifted it up, revealing two conjoined garages with enough books and bookshelves to fill a library. "Well here we are, I told you have quite the collection," he said nudging the boy inside so he could light some candles and close the door.

Jace shrugged and followed Shiro over to the garages “It’s a start” He paused for moment thinking about what Shiro said “You don’t mind me calling you Shiro do you? I never asked before and just assumed...” Jace trailed off and turned his attention away from Shiro to the two garages he’d just opened. His eyes widened slightly, he’d thought Shiro had loads of books at his home but compared to the number here there was no comparison. He felt Shiro gently push him inside and then close the door behind the two.
“These must have taken you ages to collect.” Jace mumbled mostly to himself as he walked further into the room scanning the different books. He pulled a few off the shelf, handling them with care as he read the titles and blurbs before returning them to their places. “Even the books you keep in storage are still in very good quality.” He turned back to Shiro “So what do you need me to do?”

Shiro nodded, "it's fine, Mr. Morganthe doesn't have much of a ring to it anyway," he said not really listening as he sat his supplies down on the floor and looked back at Jace, as he realized just how many books he owned. Shiro took of his cloak and sat it on one of the shelves, rolling up his leaved, "Yes, i've been collecting these books for a very very long time, some of these date way back before my great great great great great grandfather was born," he told him, which was saying something considering he was a vampyre, but Jace didn't know that.
"It's just like what we did yesterday in larger scale, if you get tired or hungry tell me and we'll take a break, I'll take one shelf, you can do another, no rush," he said as he began deshelving his books.

Jace nodded and moved to the shelf nearby and started to take them off. Once the shelf was empty of books he started to sort them alphabetically the same way he did yesterday. They worked in silence each focused on their task. Jace let his thoughts drift to pointless things before settling on last night and the man on Shiro’s roof. He glanced over at Shiro but still continued sorting the books out “Shiro, this may be a little weird to ask, but did you hear anything last night? Like something on your roof?”
Part of him didn’t want to know the answer but he also wanted to know if he did see something and that it wasn’t just his imagination. He put the book he was holding down and turned to Shiro waiting for his answer.

Shiro looked over his sholder at Jace as he began polishing the bookshelf, a small frown on his face, 'so he did see me,' he said to himself before looking back at the bookshelf, "No I did not, I was out like a light most of the time, and when I was up it was deadly quiet, the most that would've been on my roof would have been a squirrel, Why do you ask?" he inquired, raising his brow, "Did you happen to see anything last night?" he continued.
His hand glided over the shelf repeatedly, even though it had already been polished, he focused his whole attention on the boy. He had to hide the fact that he wasn't human for as long as he could, but Jace wasn't just some dumb little boy he could give a lolipop too and shoo him away. If Jace found out though, he'd have to leave, not telling how people would react, the boy would probably hate him, and try to get him killed by exposing that he had been the one that had killed those three poor saps.

Jace hesitated slightly before smiling timidly at Shiro “Ah no reason, I just thought I heard something.” He quickly turned back round hoping Shiro couldn’t see through the lie, he just didn’t want to freak him out by telling him watched his house last night. Jace sighed and finished organizing the shelf he’d been working on before moving to the next. He’d been sure he’d seen something but it was late, maybe his eyes tricked him.
“So what type of books do you have?” He asked, hoping to change the topic “I prefer Fantasy and Dark books, the supernatural.” He glanced back at Shiro who had been oddly quiet for a while. Jace frowned when he saw Shiro continue to dust the same shelf over and over, he looked deep in thought. “Shiro? You ok?” Jace stepped forward and placed a hand on Shiro’s arm.

Shiro shook his head and looked over at Jace, "No, I'm fine, I just was thinking," he said, pulling his hand away from the shelf, and began re-stacking. "I don't have too many fiction books, but there are quite a few that pertain too your particular interests. When we're done I'll pull some out for you," he said finishing the shelf before moving onto the next.
"What do you think about vampires Jace?" he asked, he had been mulling over the question for a little while. "Do you think they exist or are they just one of those things that goes bump in the night?" he continued, looking over at the red headed boy. He opened his mouth to mention how the murders sounded like a vampire could have done it, but he caught himself, nearly forgetting that he had told Jace he hadn't heard the news.

Jace moved back to the shelf he was working on taking out the books and dusting the shelf. He’d started to order them when Shiro asked him a question “Vampires?” Jace turned to look at him and saw Shiro looking back at him. He paused, thinking about his answer to the question before shaking his head “No, I don’t think they’re real. I mean if they were real, wouldn’t we have found some evidence of them, and not just people who pretend to be Vampires. Also in myths and stories Vampires are supposed to be stronger, faster and generally superior then humans so if they were real they could easily become the dominant species and kill humans whenever they want.”
Jace paused again thinking over what he said “I just don’t see how, if they are real, they could have gone unnoticed by people.” He turned away and continued to stack the books. “Even though I don’t believe in them, Vampires in literature and myths do interest me. They’re meant to be beautiful but deadly at the same time, the perfect predators.” Jace turned to Shiro again, smiling at him “Sorry for going on a bit there. Why the sudden change in topic?”

Shiro began re-stacking the books on the shelf, listening intently to what Jace had to say, watching him over his shoulder. "No reason really, just that allot of these books are about Vampires, I mean if you didn't find them interesting, well you'd have very little books here to choose from," he admitted, cracking his knuckles and moving onto the next one. "I have very many books about vampires and the like, allot of which were given to me by my relatives," he told him as he cleared yet another bookshelf of books.
"Thank you for assisting my Jace, I would have never gotten this done, hopefully we can finish by the end of the day, normally it would take me two to three days on my own," he told him, "In an hour or two we could go out and get you something to eat," he offered.

Jace turned back to continue stacking he books “Your welcome, works more enjoyable with company.” An hour seemed to go by quickly, and Jace was finishing off another shelf. He stretched and turned to look at Shiro, his stomach growling as he did. Jace blushed slightly, a little embarrassed. “How about we go for lunch now?” He walked over to the door and waited for Shiro to put his cloak on before opening it and headed out.
“So I take it that you’re a fan of Vampires then? Since you have a lot of books about them.” He glanced over at Shiro, thinking about his earlier question. “So what about you? Do you think they’re real?”

Shiro glanced over his shoulder when he heard the human's stomach growl with hunger. "Alright Mr. Vicks, let's take a break, we made a good amount of progress," he told him as he whipped off his hands and wrapped his pale body with his cloak as he stepped into the pickup truck. He looked at Jace, "I suppose you could say that, I like to keep my mind open about such things as werewolves and vampires, the universe is full of possibilities," he told him, watching the streets go by.
"Go where you want Mr. Vicks, I don't have my wallet on me anyway," he told him, " I don't eat out much either..."

Jace joined Shiro in the truck “I saw a little café on the way down here. We could go there.” Jace started the truck and drove back the way they came until he saw the small but quaint café. Jace parked the truck, not too far from the café and walked down to the café. The place wasn’t too busy and Jace sat at a table by the wall away from the front window so the sun didn’t reach them. A waitress came up to the two when they sat down. She smiled at them and handed them each a menu.
“Welcome to Kathy’s, here are your menu’s. Let me know when you’re ready to order.” Jace smiled politely at her and took the menu from her. He scanned the menu and decided to get sandwich. He looked at Shiro “Are you hungry? I’ll get you something if you want. You can just pay me back later.”

Shiro just nodded in agreement at Jace's suggestion, a still silence falling in the car, the vampire beginning to feel the effects of the heat starting to reach him through his cloak, thankfully it didn't take them long to reach the cafe, and Shiro wasted no time getting out of the car and to the back of the restaurant behind a little dividing wall where the sun couldn't reach him. He pulled down his hood, only a little so he could see. He was handed a menu, at first he wasn't even going to look at it, but in this heat, he'd need something to give him energy, even if it sits heavily in his stomach.
He looked over at Jace, then to the waitress, "I'll have the french dip miss," he told her before handing her the menu then looking back at Jace, "you're too kind Jace, if only there were more people like you.

Jace blushed slightly and grinned bashfully at Shiro before turning to the waitress and ordering a sandwich and a glass of water. The waitress smiled at them and nodded then left to get their order. Jace turned back to Shiro “It’s the polite thing to do. I couldn’t just sit here and eat in front of you while you’re probably hungry as well.” Jace glanced round the little café, enjoying the atmosphere. It looked like today was a quiet day for them but the café felt cosy, and the two waitresses looked friendly. Maybe they had some openings that he could apply for. This is the kind of place he’d like to work at until he got over his writer’s block.
It wasn’t long before the waitress returned with their food and drinks. Jace smiled and thanked her.
