And Wyn did cry. He was ashamed as he clutched to the human. A female no less, but gods, he'd been so sick with worry. If only he hadn't fought with Kai. I should have stayed with him!

[praiseofblood]

"Shh, it ain't no fault of yours." Mama J soothed, while Jay looked at the boy, and scoffed a bit, folding his arms.

[clementine]

Thank the gods at least his tears were silent. Wyn shuddered and nodded against Mama J's shoulder before he leaned back and wiped away his tears. "Then why does it feel like it is?" He asked, ignoring Jay. He'd take care of the male later.

"I don't know, baby. But it's only human to feel responsible for not being able to protect the ones we love." Mama J said sagely.

[clementine]

Wyn blinked. But...he wasn't human. He still sniffled though and nodded at the old woman. "Yeah."

Mama J smiled a little and pat Wyn on the back. "I'ma take Jay and Ree Ree to the house. You coming?" she asked, already knowing the answer.

[clementine]

"Nah. I'll stay here and look after Kai if that's alright." Wyn replied with a small smile. "That way I can call you when he gets all better." With a wave, Wyn started to head back into Kai's room.

MAma J shook her head, bid Wyn goodnight, and headed back home to have a stern talk with her son.

Wyn got comfortable in Kai's room again. He plopped down in the nearby chair to keep vigil and try not to think too much.

Over the next week or so, Kai would wake for longer periods of time, and grew a bit stronger, until the doctors were finally comfortable with releasing him.

Feeling tired and strung out, Wyn was elated to be finally checking Kai out. "Mama J is coming around with the car." He told Kai, treated him gingerly as they walked out of the hospital together. "You tell me if you start feeling sick again, okay?"

"Yes MOM,"Kai said with a roll of his eyes as a nurse pushed him outside in a wheelchair. He had a cart following him, full of get well cards, flowers, balloons, and candies.

[clementine]

"Well, don't come crying to me when your wheelchair flies out of control." Wyn teased. "Or when you get crushed by all your get well gifts."

Kairos rolled his eyes as Mama J pulled up in the truck. Everybody began the bustle of getting him into the car.

[clementine]

Which took longer than Wyn expected, but they were finally all in with Kai's goods stuffed in the truck. Finally, they were going home!
