Love Can't Be Conned [Alyphic/Rage]

"Don't worry about it," he muttered as he tried to pull his wrist away. "I don't want to burden you anymore than I already have."

Alyphic gritted his teeth. He would have gladly just walked away, but he didnt' want to be a bad mate. There was no law that said he had to live on Zerca, but if Rage were to go back and it slipped that he was his mate, that would put a major damper on his name. Plus, the saddeness he was feeling was becoming annoying.

"Look, you may not want to be a to burden me, but you really have no choice. I will walk you up."

Rage flinched at the tone of voice that Alyphic held. "I-I made you angry didn't I?" he whimpered. "P-please don't hurt me."

Pulling his hand free, wincing at the slight pain, he cowered against the wall. "I-I'm sorry. Please don't be angry."

Alyphic was horrified. Why would he hurt Rage, he was not inclined to violence. It was pety and he was above it. He perferred mind games as a source for revenge. Slowly, he moved so that he covered Rage against the wall.

"Now why would I hurt you? I can't choose when I'll meet my mate. And I'm not angry or irritated with you, so stop this ridiculous cowering. I bet your family's worried about you." He knew his voice didn't sound very soothing, but it had been years since he had to be truly nice to anyone and this was the best he could do right now.

Rage sniffed. "A-are you sure?" he asked brokenly. The normal shine in his eyes (that had just recently returned) was dead. He was locked away in memories that he didn't want.

Alyphic placed a hand on Rage's cheek making him look back at him. He could feel the sudden deep sadness that came from Rage and didn't like it one bit.

"Rage. I'm not the most honorable, by I am better than raising a hand against a barer exspcially my own mate," he said and met it. What giver would ever dare to harm a barer unless said barer placed harm on another barer?

Without much thought, Alyphic bent down and placed a very kick and very light kiss on Rage's mouth. "Now, if you're calm, can we go?"

Rage gave a small smile at the kiss and nodded his head. "O-ok," he said as he waited to Alphic to start walking before following him a few steps behind.

Alyphic began walking and once he'd found an elevator, he asked. "What floor was it you were staying on?"

Rage blushed and looked down. "Floor 16," he answered in a muffle tone of voice

Alyphic nodded and took a tissue out of one of his pockets pressing the button for up. When the doors opened, he walked inside and pressed the 16th floor. "Will anyone be there waiting for you?"

"I don't think so," Rage told him. "Everyone left when I did."

The doors opened again and Alyphic stepped out heading down the hallway. "So do I need to stay with you until they get back?"

"You can if you want to," he whispered as he pulled out the card key for his room. "If not, I understand. I bet you are annoyed with me anyways."

Alyphic walked around Rage and into the hotel room, arms crossed against his chest. "No, I'm only annoyed with the fact you keep saying that. I believe I've said it already that you do not annoy me, I barely even know you and since we're mates, you'll be around for a while. It is not productive to be annoyed with you. How much longer until your parents arrive?"

Rage simply looked down, "I don't mean to upset you. I must be as pathetic as he said," he whispered. The last part more to himself then to Alyphic. "I don't know when they are going to get back. I don't know what they went to do."
