“All systems in position. Ready for docking.” Came a slightly tinny voice from over the intercom. Rhys had been lounging in his quarters when the announcement from his ships A.I. interrupted him.
“Can’t you handle things by yourself Elios? I’m a little busy right now.” Of course he wasn’t busy at all and was just too lazy to move himself yet. His room was very cozy, especially with the lights off. It reminded him of sex and, being part incubus, he liked sex.
The lights suddenly flickered on, despite Rhys’ groans, illuminating the room with an artificial yellow light. “Your presence is required.” Elios stated firmly. “It is the captain’s duty, after all, to land his own ship, is it not?” Okay, now the computer was just being a bastard. Rhys did not have to be on deck to dock the stupid ship. Heck, he didn’t even have to be conscious for it. Elios was perfectly capable of doing it himself.
Growling out obnoxious epithets, Rhys heaved himself up off his bed, heading for the main deck. It seemed Elios was being difficult today for some reason or another. The incubus knew he could fight with his computer about it, but it would take far too much energy. It was easier to just get his butt up on deck to watch the docking. At least the pilot's seat was comfortable Rhys thought rolling his eyes.
The metal flooring of the hall clanked with every footstep taken, resounding against the metal walls around him. He really needed to do something about that, the walls that is. They were just so bare and the color was the familiar boring silver color of pressurized iron. There was nothing on the ship to distinguish it from any other. There were no personal effects to be seen or any other sign that someone lived there. Rhys knew he should endeavor to make the place more homey, it was where he lived after all, but it was just to troublesome. It was just a ship. It took him from point A to point B. Who cared what it looked like as long as it ran? Rhys grinned wryly to himself knowing what his annoying mother would say.
“Alright, I’m here Elios. Now what?” Rhys demanded as he walked through the automatic doors to the ships main deck. He all but flung himself into the captain’s seat, running a hand deftly through his smooth black locks.. The deck was the same circular shape that it had always been, (not that he expected anything different) with the singular captain’s seat in the middle of the room, facing the large wall screen. The monitor was currently set on showing a brilliantly green and blue planet rotating slowly in orbit. The stars blinked and flickered in the back drop of the black universe.
A separate computer screen was suddenly thrust into Rhys’ face, showing the white haired Elios. The A.I.’s face was placid, as usual, but his remark was still sarcastic. “Thank you for joining me on deck captain. The ship is ready to land. Please proceed with docking preparations.”
“You know, for an A.I., you’re such a fucker.” Rhys sighed, almost good naturedly, as he pressed the first red button of three on his chair’s armrest. The planet, Sensaphoria to be exact, suddenly blinked off the screen. Bold white letters replaced the universe-scape, stating obnoxiously to “please stand by for docking.” Ignoring the screen and Elios’ admonishments about what being a captain was, Rhys kicked back in his seat, bringing his hands to rest behind his head. At least he’d have time to nap for the first fifteen minutes it took to enter Sensaphoria’s atmosphere.
The docking was uneventful, as was expected. Elios handled the landing of the ship expertly. There wasn’t even the tell-tale jolt that signified landing. Rhys smiled behind closed eyes, impressed at Elios’ skills.
“We have arrived on Sensaphoria.” The computer sniffed delicately.
“Wonderful.” Rhys humored as he uncurled from his chair. “Don’t wait up for me baby. I won’t be home for dinner.” The incubus laughed silently to himself as he distinctly heard the words “Rhys” and “bastard” muttered from under Elios’ breath. Oh how he loved to razz his computer.
Whistling jauntily, already dress in the bright, loosely flowing garments that where characteristic of Sensaphoria, Rhys made his way out of his ship. He was all but skipping down the boarding ramp to the mulling street market of the planet below. His mood was pleasant. Already full from good food and even better sex, Rhys anticipated the buying of the Sensaphorian spa to go smoothly. He had big plans for the place, despite the fact that he had been warned that the place was losing business rapidly fro some reason. Rhys was still certain that it was a very good buy.
Still whistling to himself, Rhys weaved his way through the crowds of locals and sightseers to the place that he intended to buy. He blended in excellently with the crowd, looking as if he had lived on the planet for his entire life.
