His father was trying to make conversation again. Lyell never knew what to say to the man. Even though they were parent and child, he had never felt particularly close to the man. Maybe the man wasn’t even his real father. He had never asked his mother about his father and it hadn’t really mattered until the day she’d died. Then he’d been passed on to this stranger and they’d moved to the capital city Jokadi. Even though he’d known Loren for three years now, it still felt awkward to him. What should he make of this situation? He stood up abruptly, excusing himself from the breakfast table. Their apartment was small, much smaller than his previous home with his mother. What irritated him wasn’t the size, though; it was the fact that no matter how many times he slept in the same bed, it always felt as though he didn’t belong there. This place didn’t feel like “home” yet and he figured it never would.
“I will take my leave now,” Lyell stated in an almost inaudible voice.
His father did not have time to tutor him the way his mother had. Instead he was forced to learn alongside other teenagers his own age. He had a feeling they disliked him as much as he disliked them. They were noisy, rude, and crass. They had odd habits of putting disgusting things in his bag or taking things from his desk. It annoyed him to no end. He promised himself he would not get into another fight, though. The last time it happened his father had scolded him. He had worked hard to befriend those classmates, but they had hated him anyway. Perhaps there was something about his personality that was no likable. Lyell picked up his schoolbag and walked out the door. The streets were crowded as usual but he paid the noise no mind.
“Date…date…date…” he mumbled to himself as he walked. He paid no mind to his surroundings and looked down as his feet rather than head of him. “What was the date?”
He had an exam waiting for him as soon as he reached school and even though he always prepared for his tests, he always felt uneasy about them. Everything about school made him uneasy. He fiddled with the hem of his shirt as a nervous gesture he’d developed, the only sign he felt unstable. Today he was wearing a simple button down blue shirt along with black pants. His shoes were faded and old. If he asked his father he was sure he’d get new ones, but he’d somehow gotten attached to these. Lyell was neither tall nor short; he somewhat average at 5”7. He was fair skinned but not to the point of being called pale. The most distinct feature were his bright green eyes he had inherited from his mother. Sometimes they were hidden behind messy black hair. The teenager was rather lanky, not that he really minded. His appearance was not something he’d considered long enough to develop an opinion over.
A thought occurred to him and he stopped walking. If he didn’t turn left, he wouldn’t reach school. He could just keep going straight and not go. He’d never skipped school before, but he knew other people did it all the time. His feet made the decision for him and he kept walking. A day off wouldn’t hurt. He clutched the strap on his bag. Although for some reason his classmates had labeled him the delinquent type, Lyell was actually quite reluctant to do what was wrong. Even though he had a nasty temper and had fought with many male classmates, he was still a good person. It was just hard sometimes to stay a good person when everyone antagonized you. He hoped his father would not be too angered but he just did not want to go to school today, so he wouldn’t. Instead he’d just keep walking.

Veris had decided today of all days he would come to the planet Jeskra. Well, it wasn't today perse. It was just today was when he had arrived after getting a ride from a friend of his brother. It didn't seem but an hour or so ago he had arrived and found himself rather lost. Although he had gotten a bit of information about the planet he wasn't so sure he could find his way around. In the end he ended up just wandering around looking over things. He was in a city so he didn't really think to not find someone somewhere. He had heard about the outside of the city, what was out there, something he might want to see but he was a bit wary of the planets inhabitants. He had heard more then enough to think to stay in its borders. Which left him to simply wander about and see what the city here had to offer. What was the place called again? He couldn't recall the name but it didn't matter. As long as he got to see what thus place was about or rather what it was like then he could care less about anything else. He just hoped that nothing unsettling would cross his path. He didn't care for trouble and he didn't care for strangers. His decision to come here though was bound to make him cross paths with strangers so he already decided that was unavoidable. He just had to deal with it and see what happened. Hopefully nothing too terrible. Though he would have much preferred nothing to occur at all.
Considering that he just might have to talk to others had cross his mind. The fact he accepted that he had to speak to strangers and deal with them had already settled down in his mind. It didn't make it any better though. Still walking about now as he was now he didn't know what he should do. Veris was a bit at a loss. He had no idea where to start. All he currently had on his being was a pack his parents made him bring along. Saying something like he had to bring this or that and be safe. That he completely understood and already he would miss his family and his home. He would admit he had reconsidered coming here or even going anywhere but one had to take chances. It wasn't his thing but it was what his older brother Fern had said so he would do it. He looked up to his older brother and he was safe and well. At least he seemed to be as he had seen him right before his eyes so why would he think otherwise. He took note of all the many stories had to tell and found that there was quite a bit one could find out when they left their home or in general when they ventured out anywhere at all. He supposed he could have ventured out of his home along his home planet but it wasn't quite the same and thus why he was here. Though it didn't really begin to explain his reason for deciding to come to this planet.
It occurred to Veris as he had pondered earlier on where to go that this planet had a forest to it. It was a reason he chose to come here He was quite found of the earth as his race was known to be. With that thought he had it in mind to come here to Jeskara. However along his way here, after all the farewells had been said, while he was on the ship heading here he found that it occurred to him what he would have to deal with. Or rather who he had to deal with or maybe what would have been better. It was really just upon talking to the friend of his brother did it really occur. That he was dealing with all these other races and that he should be careful. It had him somewhat regretful of his decision to wander from home. He might have asked to go back but he realized he had come this far and so why not go all the way. It was something he thought back even now as he came to a stop along the sidewalk looking up towards the sky thoughtfully.
Lilac orbs held a thoughtful look to them as they were directed up towards the sky. It wasn't long though before they were directed straight ahead. In the particular direction he was heading in at random. Maybe if he saw someone he would ask them for directions but where would he go. He realized he didn't know where to go or where he could stay. He had some money though so perhaps he would go stay at a place he had to pay for. But his money would only last for so long and then what? He asked himself this as he moved forward once more walking who knows where. Well, he didn't know that was for sure. Maybe he could find someplace to sleep along the streets until he could get by. With his smaller form, as he was larger now, he could fit into small places. He just had to hide the earth brown back over his shoulder while he did so. He was still thinking over the idea as it sounded like it left much to be desired as it was.
Briefly it came to mind to wonder what time it was. There wasn't exactly a bright sun to go by so he was left wondering but it seemed fairly early here. At the moment he was wearing a simple light blue shirt with a dark grey pants. His shoes were something like like brown sandals that only had a single strap keeping them on his feet. One for each she of course. Clothes that weren't made for the cold with the close to being thin fabric used to make his clothes. He found it felt just a bit chili outside and wished he had something warmer to brace against his pastel tinted ecru skin. Like a thicker short or a coat or sweater. He thought he had something in the pack he had brought along with him but frankly at the moment he didn't care to reach in and look for something that might not be there. He would just settle with what he had on him now. Hopefully he wouldn't have to wander about all day. He really didn't care to have to do that but he also still had to figure out what he needed to do. Once he did that he hoped to get somewhere. That is so he wouldn't have to randomly walk about with nowhere to go. It was for that reason he would keep walking about after all. Maybe something good would come his way soon.

Lyell felt himself bump into another person. He should have watched where he was going, but he’d been distracted. He knew he was the one at fault, so he figured he should apologize. His mother had taught him to never apologize. She’d told him he should wait for the other person to apologize even when he’d been at fault. Loren, however, had taught him something completely different. His father had told him he should apologize when he’d hurt someone’s feelings or physically hurt them. With two conflicting opinions, he wasn’t sure which one was correct. Since he was living with his father, though, he felt the need to obey the man’s rules. Lyell mumbled a, “Sorry,” to the other as though the word itself were something vile. He wasn’t used to apologizing and the word left an awful taste in his mouth. He sized up the stranger and took note the other was a foreigner. It was easy to spot people that didn’t belong on the planet. Lyell himself blended in quite nicely. He was fair skinned, dark haired, and had a cold personality. This person, however, did not resemble a local. He did not have the build for a warrior, so he wasn’t a Majikadai. The person before him did not look aggressive or pale enough. He could tell the other wasn’t an Incubus or Vampyre right away and the skin color was wrong for a Deamon. He almost thought the person was a Jshiko, but something told him that wasn’t right.
“Bait…” he stated out loud without realizing it. He continued to stare at the other for quite some time.
He looked like prey. This person looked like something one of the more aggressive species would have for a snack. Although they were almost the same height, the other seemed so vulnerable and delicate. His curiosity begged him to ask the other about his origins. What planet was he from? What species was he? Lyell had been trained to be composed, though. His mother had told him there was nothing worse than letting others read your face. He would not needlessly act like a child and embarrass himself. Instead, he opted to violate the other’s personal space by tugging on his hair with one hand and pulling on his ear with the other. His emotionless face only made the scene more comical to the people walking past them. Although Lyell was trying to hide his emotional excitement, his hands had decided to rebel and find out for themselves what kind of creature was this. After all, it wasn’t every day this boring planet had a visitor. He didn’t recognize this species. He had met all the species of Jeskara as well as Wizards and Dragonis but this person was none of those. He continued to tug at the other, pinching his cheek at one point. It was like playing with a rag doll really.
“I’m Lyell,” he offered the other. “Just Lyell. I’m Lyell.”
That was what you were supposed to tell strangers, right? He was pretty sure you were supposed to give strangers your name and then…you weren’t strangers anymore. Or something like that. Loren was pretty bad at explaining things. He hoped the other didn’t try to give him a nickname or try to find out his first name. He would not be pleased. He vaguely wondered why he had such interest in the other. It couldn’t just be the fact the other was an exotic find. The person made his stomach flop, like the time he’d eaten too fast and given himself a stomachache. No, it was worse than that. Lyell hated feeling foreign emotions. He could never understand what they meant and it bothered him. For most of his life he’d been sheltered and being out in public sometimes made him more than a little uncomfortable. This person wouldn’t understand that. The person in front of him didn’t look like he’d been locked up most of his life. He forced himself to stop thinking about that. It would only serve to further upset him and he’d take out his anger on people unrelated to the problem. He let go of the other and stared. He might have been a little rough when he’d pinched the other but he hoped that was alright. It was only a pinch after all. You’d have to be a baby to be upset over it.
He wasn’t a man of many words and he wondered what he should say next. He’d already told the other his name, wasn’t that enough for introductions? Was he supposed to say something else? Now that he thought about it, his father did not speak much either. It could be genetic. He glanced down at his watch and noted school had started already. If he rushed back he could miss his first class and still make it for the rest of the day. He didn’t feel like going back, though. He stomped down the feelings he got from staring at the stranger and walked past him. There it was again, making his stomach churn. Those feelings had returned even when he had forced himself not to think of them or what they might mean. He just needed to walk away. He had gotten pretty good over the years at ignoring his problems or running away from them. Perhaps this made him a coward, but he didn’t care. He’d rather be labeled a coward than have to deal with his own emotions.

Veris didn't see what happened next coming. That he would suddenly bump into another. He was more startled then anything else as he found himself looking up at one of the beings here that resided on the planet he was currently on. It was hard not to notice that he seemed to fit in very well with those about the area. He found himself silent as he just stared at the other fellow who had bumped into him, or was it the other way around, as he heard what sounded like a mumbled apology. Perhaps he should apologize. He considered it as he looked at the other fellow and couldn't help but notice him looking his way as well. It seemed just like a normal thing to to. If one bumped into another wouldn't they spare them a glance. But he found he was slightly unnerved by the other fellow staring at him. It caused him to be at a loss for words at the moment. He couldn't think to say anything even the apology he felt he should utter in case he had been at fault. It all went rather blank as he felt he would have like to scuttle away in a very discreet manner. Just to wander off without being noticed or watched. This person, whoever he was, was not someone he felt he wanted to speak to. Though he had thought earlier he would speak to whoever he came across to ask for directions that did not come to mind now. He couldn't consider that he would be able to ask for possibly places to stay. Or consider that he could ask for any assistance in general. Al he could feel was the sudden need to leave. He didn't suppose he had to but he just couldn't stand here suddenly feeling both unnerved and embarrassed. Things could have been worse though, right. Perhaps he should count earthen flowers, he was quite fond of plants in genera, and be grateful.
Speaking still seemed like something far from his mind. He should have been able to utter a single syllable at least but he could not. Then to make matters worse a single word was uttered on the other fellows part that caused him to flush. If he ever felt wary of anyone right now it was this fellow. Why did he have to say what he had then. Was he being called Bait? He knew that wasn't a name to call anything other then for something to be eaten by another. That wasn't him on any account. Was it? He was bait for no one. Just thinking on it he had a sudden urge to just flee. Along with sending a shiver throughout his body that wasn't entirely brought on by what he felt was a chill due to the climate. The smartest thing to do now seemed to get going. Just to leave without looking where he was going. However, he had to mind the fact that he had nowhere to go and would more then likely only serve to get lost. That wasn't what he wanted at all but what else was he to do when he didn't feel safe here around this stranger who had yet to do anything other then apologize. Maybe he was just overreacting here.
Veris might have considered that he was jumping to conclusions or being paranoid. He did consider it for a moment until his train of thought was disturbed as well as his personal space. Out of nowhere he felt the other fellow tugging on his air and then even pulling on his hair. What was wrong with him? As if that wasn't enough he even pinched his cheek. Who did he think he was? If he hadn't been so disturbed and surprised he would have considered slapping his hands away. However due to that very fact by the time it came to him to do so the fellow here had already stopped his random and yet violating actions. It left him with a surprised and yet upset look set upon his features. Then of all things to hear next he heard the fellow or more like a boy, he didn't seem older then him, introduce himself. He considered saying something, now glaring at the boy here with him, with a look that clearly showed he wasn't happy at the moment but upset and more then a little perturbed.
"Who do you think you are touching people like this." With the word 'people' he meant himself. He didn't understand at all why this fellow called Lyell felt he could touch him like that. Did people on this planet not have manners or was it just him.
There was no way Veris was going to say his name to this crazy guy, whatever he was. He was still wary of the people here but he was more perturbed then anything else here. He wanted to figure this guy out why this guy did what he did. All that touching him as if he was some doll on display or some sort of animal. He did absolutely nothing to hint towards the fact he wanted to be touched in any way here at all. Which wasn't the case at all. He didn't want to be near anyone let alone be touched by some weird stranger. He was considering what else he could say to him as he looked at him with narrowed eyes feeling the bit of pain that lingered from being pinched and such. He felt as if he could rub his cheek or something but kept his hands still at his sides. What else could he have done? He was in no position to do anything here really. He could have posed to fight at this sudden violation that had occurred but regardless of age here he didn't think he would win. In fact he wasn't a fighter at all. He kept away from others. The last thing he would do was do anything to create a violent situation. He had to ever so reluctantly admit to himself that he was rather powerless here.
What could Veris possibly say a the moment? Staring at the fellow still he was silent though he wanted to say something more. He was still thinking of what he could say when he suddenly saw the boy here move to leave. Where was he going?! After what he did how could he just walk away. Looking at the boy still with his narrowed lilac gaze, he was still glaring a bit, he considered stopping him. He debated over it briefly and very well considered letting him go but how could he do that? If he did he wouldn't know what this guy was thinking and if he could expect anyone else to do anything similar. He did after all not know why he had done it in the first place. "Wait, you just can't leave." Veris spoke reaching his hand out and placing it upon the boys shoulder at the same time. He wasn't really thinking about it too much when he had done that but upon realizing his actions he decided to leave it there. If his hand was there then he wouldn't walk off. At least for a few seconds. He knew, without a doubt, it was more then likely possibly for the boy here to go off anytime he wanted regardless of what he did.

He looked at the other and then glanced down at his feet. He couldn’t leave? He lifted his right foot and then set it down, then did the same for his left foot. They didn’t seem stuck to the ground, so what did the other mean? Of course he could leave. As long as his feet worked, why couldn’t he leave? What a strange thing to say. The other was spouting nonsense. He also seemed upset Lyell had touched him. He didn’t really understand why that was. It was only the other’s face. He had no placed his hands in inappropriate places. He supposed the other could have customs he was not aware of and touching someone’s face was considered bad manners. He would have apologized again, but this time Lyell felt he wasn’t at fault. He hadn’t known the other had odd customs so it wasn’t his fault he had broken them. He then glanced at the hand that had been placed on his shoulder. It was warm. He took note the two of them were about the same size. They were probably close in age then. Most people his age disliked him so he wasn’t used to affections or touches from someone in his age group. Perhaps it was the blunt way he answered questions or the fact he could not understand most social norms the way other people did, but something about Lyell drove people away. He tried to change but it was hard when he did not know what part of him was disliked.
The other’s hand was a welcomed gesture. Lyell did not seem like it, but he was eager for attention every now and then. He considered the other’s actions and determined the other must be seeking his friendship. He had asked him not to leave as well as shown him physical affection. Therefore, it was only logical to assume the other wanted to be his friend. Now Lyell just had to remember what it was friends did. He had not really had much experience bonding with others, but if this person wanted to be his friend, he would do his best. He took the other’s hand in his own and tried to smile, the key word being smile. It made him nervous when he tried to force an expression on his face. Unless it came naturally, it only served to make Lyell look awkward. His lips tried to move in the correct position but it looked forced, so he stopped trying to smile. He tried to be delicate when holding the other’s hand but he might have added more pressure than was needed. He didn’t know how strong of a species this person came from, but having dragon blood in him made Lyell strong. At least he assumed that’s where he got his strength from. He didn’t remember other Wizards being as strong as he was.
“If you wish to be friends you should have said so before,” he said in an almost scolding manner. Really, the other should have just said that in the first place. “But you make me want to puke. We can still be friends, though. Just don’t make my stomach weird anymore…”
There it was. That sickening feeling in his stomach had returned. It felt as though a million and one butterflies were fluttering in his stomach. Maybe his new friend was poisonous. That couldn’t be good. He felt emotions he hadn’t felt before. It tingled when he held the other’s hand and he didn’t want to let go. He briefly wondered what it’d be like to hug the other. If he felt this warm just holding his hand, maybe he’d feel even warmer hugging him. The other looked soft too, like stuffed animal toys he’d seen in a toy shop once. The more he thought about it, the hotter he came. Then he realized it was his face that was the hottest. He let go of the other’s hand quickly and touched his own face. The soft skin under his fingertips was very warm. Now this feeling he recognized. He knew right now, his face was probably a very deep shade of red. It happened sometimes, when he felt overwhelmed. It was like looking at a tomato and it didn’t help Lyell was light skinned.
Quickly, he used his hands to cover the other’s eyes. He begged him to stop looking or his face would turn redder. The way the other’s eyes bore into him only served to make him even more nervous. Then he realized it. He realized what that sickening feeling in his stomach was. It was a combination of fear, attraction, shyness, and nervousness. He was afraid because it was the first time he’d been attracted to someone at this level and that made him both shy and nervous. He didn’t have the experience other teenagers had. He hadn’t gone on dates or kissed girls, or boys for that matter. It wasn’t as though attraction came with a book either. He supposed it just happened without warning. All this was running through his head and giving him nausea. That too was a side effect of being overwhelmed. Although he never actually threw up, he always felt like he was about to. It had been a long time since he’d been embarrassed, but he was embarrassed now. He hadn’t felt anything when he’d walked out of the apartment wearing his clothes inside out or when he’d tripped and fallen into buckets of paint, yet this person here had effectively embarrassed him. Was it a side effect of his attraction for the other? He decided not to find out.
“I changed my mind. We can’t be friends,” he told the other plainly. “I..don’t…have room in my address book to add someone. My cat died. I think my house is on fire. The sky is orange.”
Still holding his palms on top of the other’s eyes, one excuse after another came out of his mouth. He wasn’t even sure what he was he was saying anymore but he didn’t want the other to see what kind of expression he had on his face. He looked rather panicked at the moment. He was sure if he looked in the mirror, he’d see himself panicking. Also, he was pretty sure his excuses were becoming less coherent and believable every time he said something. He couldn’t seem to move away from the other either. This time his feet weren’t letting him leave. He wanted to sprint in the other direction, but his feet weren’t obeying him. Instead he spewed nonsense. It became more and more embarrassing for him. He was pretty sure the other hated him now too. After all, odd people were disliked, that much he knew. He was behaving rather strangely he supposed, talking about cats and orange skies.

Veris wondered if at some point this fellow here, this guy who didn't look far from his age if just about, was right in the head. First he had taken his hand in his and then had come to randomly smile at him. What was that about? He couldn't help but feel a bit disconcerted here. With this strange guy looking at him with what he could see seemed to be a forced smile. It left him wondering what this fellow here was thinking his person who said he was called Lyell. He had to wonder if that was even his real name. But he didn't exactly feel that he was being lied to here. No, though he was still wary of the fellow before him. Though he wasn't one to judge a book by it's cover, he didn't guess if anyone was any particular way. he wouldn't have guessed that the boy here had such a firm grip. Did that mean he was that much stronger then him. He couldn't help but frown a bit at that thought. He already knew he lacking in strength, his kind weren't know for being strong, he really didn't need a reminder. Briefly he found himself ever so grateful that he hadn't thought to strike out at him. Surely he would have only ended up hurt. Just thinking on it made him reconsider his most recent action. He didn't feel that the boy here would come to hurt him and yet he was sure he could. Then recalling what little he knew of this planet he just might. Was that perhaps his intention. To pretend to pleasant, relatively so, until he wasn't suspecting it and then he would do something. It was negative thinking he knew but he had to be ready for anything, right?
To say that Veris was thinking to pull away from the boy here wouldn't have been a lie. He thought to actually just leave him be now. However, hearing him speak caused him to pause and simply stare at him. Really, had he gotten hit buy something? What made him think that he wanted to be friends with him? That was the very last thing he wanted. In fact he hadn't been considered that. He wasn't sure what to make of the situation or say at the moment as he looked at the boy. He was considering what to do when he heard what was said last. What did he just say? He wasn't sure what to make of that either. Did he smell bad? Did he look ugly? What was it about him that would make anyone want to puke. If there was anything he knew about how he smelt it was that it was quite similar to an earthen smell or more like some of the flowers that bloomed on his planet that he had spent so much time around. That couldn't have possibly made anyone want to puke, could it? He was just at a loss for words.
"What?" He spoke, this clearly unsure of what to do or say. His lilac orbs were slightly widened as he looked at the other fellow. Why would he say something like that? Why did he want to be friends with him? He may have told him to stop but he didn't mean for that. Though some assistance would be nice if he didn't mean to hurt him at any point in time here. He considered the idea for a moment. Actually asking for some assistance from this boy. But this seemed like a situation that seemed far too awkward to do so in and only found himself silent for the time being. He only found some relief in the fact that he had his hands back. However, it seemed shortly after the other here took yet another action. He hadn't even been expecting it as he was still thinking over what to say. But before he knew it the other here had his eyes covered with his hands causing him to go in a bit of a panic.
It wasn't so much the fact that the stranger was acting odd or anything else he didn't take note of right away. It was because he had come to cover his eyes suddenly without any warning and with the lack of sight how could he not do so. It wasn't like he took off or anything. It was more like he felt a sudden surge of gear or panic run through him and had him eve more unsure of what to do. Instead of taking off he could only stand there frozen, feeling as if he should do something like hide himself but it wasn't quite the first thing to come to mind and seemed to be a very eluding thought. What should he do? Being on some strange planet amongst strangers. Quite a few if not most would easily be able to dispose of him one way or another. He couldn't let himself get taken advantage of and he had to be alert. This was most definitely not being alert. That was what came to mind as a thought that sliced through the sudden mist that clouded his clear thinking. He had to do something other then stand here.
Veris' sudden clear thinking seemed to stand its ground but before he could really think to do anything he heard the boy here speaking. Here he had been in a panic, practically in a state of fear, and he was still talking about them being friends. What was this to him? Was he playing around? Did all the people on this planet mess with people like this. As if it wasn't bad enough he couldn't see, with his eyes still being covered, this guy felt the need to mess with him. He couldn't help but suddenly feel upset at the thought. Who did this boy think he was? Messing with him like this? It wasn't like he was desperate for friends. At least not back on his home planet. Here he knew absolutely no one. Maybe he should consider but how could he in he position he was in now.
Why did he keep babbling about what seemed like random things? He really must have had some sort of problem. "Could you take a moment of silence yourself." He spoke raising his hands and taking a hold of the others hands who had come to cover his eyes. His intention was to remove them but he wasn't sure if he was strong enough to do so. Implying he didn't know how much strength he had put into keeping his hands over his eyes. Either way he did try to move them. TRY being the key word here. Regardless of the outcome though he decided to speak again. "I suppose I could be your friend but first you need to stop being so weird, if you could help it." For all he knew this guy was just being himself and he couldn't really as a stranger to change his ways for him, someone they just met.
"My name is Veris and I not too long ago arrived on the planet." He was making it know, as if it wasn't already, he was a foreigner. "I'm pretty much lost, have no where to do, and I certainly don't need this." As he spoke the last few words he moved his hands that, whether or not had been successful in moving the hands that covered his eyes, would still be there and gave them the slightest bit of a shake to show he was referring to his hands. Whether he was trying to say he didn't like his eyes covered or the fact he didn't like to be touched he couldn't say for sure. More then likely it was both as he found no pleasure in being touched or manhandled, as it seemed he had been earlier, by someone he just met at random.
"If you aren't going to help me then we can part ways and never see each other again." Veris had no idea what he would do after this but he would figure something out. Perhaps go with his earlier plan that might result in something unfortunate happening to him eventually but he had to do something, didn't he? He didn't come here to experience some unfortunate event. He came here to look around, explore, and experience new things. Though this little event, meeting this guy here, was something new entirely. Didn't meet a strange person of who knows what race like this everyday.

What a weak person. The thought randomly came to Lyell’s mind. Lyell wasn’t particularly muscular, but he was strong. He was at least stronger than most of his classmates, although if he were to fight a grown man he’d surely lose. The person before him didn’t look like he had the same kind of strength. He was small looking, as though he’d break so easily if Lyell decided to hurt him. This was the sort of person that usually went unnoticed by Lyell. Often times, the weaker students at his school would make themselves scarce and invisible. Lyell never paid them any mind. He understood not wanting to stand out if you couldn’t protect yourself. This person stood out a lot despite the fact he was weak. It was probably the fact he was a different species than everyone else. Foreigners were scarce. Most were smart enough to know this place was bad news. Certainly it was the reason his father had picked it for their hide-out. Vaguely, he wondered what sort of business such a defenseless person would have in these parts. Perhaps he’d been tricked by someone into coming. If that were so, he already felt sorry for this person. Lyell didn’t like liars or people that fooled others. If someone couldn’t tell the truth then they probably shouldn’t say anything at all. Although now he wished he had never opened his mouth in the first place. Although everything he said made sense in his head, it seemed it didn’t make much sense to the other male. Now that he thought about it, his comments did seem random without further explanation. Sometimes he forgot people couldn’t know what he was thinking and without that information, they’d be lost.
The other had probably misunderstood his words. He could tell from the unsettling way the other had taken to the word “bait” among other comments. Although he wanted to correct the misunderstanding, he didn’t say anything further. He was sure he’d only say something to embarrass himself further. He had never really been good at explanations. He only ended up angering or confusing people, sometimes both at once. Communication was difficult for him. Besides his teachers, whom he hardly spoke to, the only person he socialized with on a regular basis was his father. He wasn’t sure if that really counted as socializing, though. His father, like him, was a man of few words. Loren was the kind of person that was just as awkward as Lyell if not more so. Loren, though, used his tough guy exterior with strangers to hide that fact while Lyell was simply apathetic. They got along well enough but didn’t have a close bond unlike other families. He wondered if the foreigner had family too. Would they be as small and defenseless as this person? He’d always thought families shared the same relationship he and his mother had had, a distant and somewhat cold one. Hugs had been rare between them as had compliments. Most of their time had been spent in silence. He hadn’t thought this was odd until he’d moved in with Loren. Although the man was quiet, he wasn’t cold like his mother. Other parents weren’t cold with their offspring either. He’d seen his classmates with their siblings and parents.
He perked up slightly when the other actually talked back. At least this meant the other didn’t hate him, right? He had also agreed to be friends with him. He wanted to smile at the words but thought better of it. If he tried to smile again, it’d probably just twist his face until in an awful face. His face wasn’t meant for smiling. Frowning seemed a lot easier for him. He didn’t know how to stop being “weird,” though. He’d been called that before but he didn’t know what part of him was odd to others. If he knew he could change it. This was a good opportunity to ask. Although the other had told him to be silent… Would it be appropriate to ask a question anyway? He had another internal debate. If he spoke know, he might anger his new friend but if he didn’t speak, he wouldn’t be able to get an answer to his question. Perhaps his new friend was already angered. He seemed displeased with Lyell’s actions. He also confirmed Lyell’s suspicions that the person was not from the planet. He didn’t see how one could get lost, though. Lyell had an excellent sense of direction…when he was paying attention. It was easy for him to navigate to the city and the thought of someone actually being lost was a concept he didn’t quite grasp. That wasn’t new, though. There were a lot of things Lyell just couldn’t grasp.
He took note of the other’s discomfort. He had forgotten he had blocked the other’s vision with his hands. He didn’t want the other to see his face but the person would probably become angry so he moved his hands. They slid from the other’s face slowly and Lyell’s arms fell limp to his sides. His fingertips still tingled from the sensation of touching another’s bare skin so intimately. His fingers twitched slightly but his arms remained at his sides firmly to prevent himself from doing anything more. His face was still a bright red. A schoolgirl couldn’t blush as red as Lyell. It covered his face and contrasted shockingly against his fair skin. It was the sort of phenomenon you had no choice but to stare at. The blush seemed unusual on the face of such a stoic boy, but there it was, bright and burning. He repeated the other’s name as it was told to him. He wondered if that was his real name. Certainly Lyell wouldn’t give out his real name freely. Then again, Grimm sounded like an awful thing to name a child. He disliked it and didn’t want to be called that. He wished he could be of use to Veris, if anything for the sake of their friendship. He did not know where Veris was headed, though. If he knew, he could surely take him there. Although Veris did say he didn’t have anywhere to go. Did that mean he had no destination?
“I…do not know what’s weird,” he finally stated. “I do not know how I am weird. I also do not know where you are headed. If you have nowhere to go, how can you be lost? Ah, that’s confusing Veris. You know, if you have nowhere to go, you can come home with me. If I let you stay with me, will that be helping? Will we still be friends? Um, you know, Veris, I have lots of books. I have…a bed and a desk. I have a father too. Those are lots of things… So you see, I have a nice place to live.”
He did have lots of nice things and hoped they were an incentive for Veris to come with him. Loren should be gone by now and friends helped each other, didn’t they? Veris seemed to be having problems since he arrived and he hoped he could help. He wondered if Loren would be angry if he invited someone to stay in his room. He brushed off the thought. Loren didn’t get angry at anything and if he was lucky, he wouldn’t see him for a few days. His father worked several odd jobs, a private detective being one of them. Sometimes he was out for long periods of time and Lyell took the opportunity to do as he pleased. Perhaps Veris would not mind coming over. Friends from school always made plans to see each other at their houses, so this was an opportunity for him to do the same.

Veris found quite a bit of relief in the fact that the other male had removed his hands from his eyes. It cleared up everything for him. Well, his line of sight at least. He didn't like not being able to see. He already felt at a great disadvantage here. He didn't need another. Looking out now he could see the other male again. Another relief. Having to deal with this person not being able to see him had him more then a bit frightened then his overall situation already left him feeling. He found the boy hadn't seemed to change since he last set his gaze upon his however he did note that he seemed a bit red. Or was he imagining things. He didn't care. He just didn't want this fellow touching him again. That really bothered him. He didn't even know him. Everyone was a stranger to him though. He wouldn't have wanted anyone to lay their fingers or anything else for that matter on him. He couldn't help but frown at the thought of this other male being able to do anything else he might have wanted to. He still didn't get why he touched him like he did and didn't care to find out either. He would have rather distanced himself from the other but he found he at leas waned to know what he had to say. If he had anything to say to him.
Hearing the other male speak he hoped his words made more sense then before. He appreciated that he hadn't said anything before. He couldn't take anymore gibberish. He already didn't know what to do here and he didn't care to be more confused about things then he was already. But he wasn't thinking back to what he was said. He focused on what he heard now as he hoped to make sense of it if it was confusing. What he said did make sense. He at least got what he as saying. Was he offering to let him stay with him? Was he for real? Or was he up to something? He didn't know what to think. He didn't care to accept. But what if he was for real? He hardly had any options as it was. Would it really be a problem to accept. Was he really meaning to be friends as well? He said he would be his friend but he wasn't sure. But if he could actually make a friend. It would be the best thing to happen to him since he came here. What should he do now though? He had to do something. He couldn't just walk away.
"I do need a place to stay." Veris stated this with a thoughtful expression set upon his features. His lilac orbs showed clearly with his eyes widened just a bit with the speculative gaze he had set upon the other male. He looked just a tad frightened. Like he had something to fear. And he did. He didn't know what anyone here was capable of. He couldn't know. He wasn't from where and he barely had any information on the place. He just knew what to be wary of which felt like it was everything and everyone really. "So, if you don't mind...I'd accept the offer to stay with you." He felt he shouldn't but he felt he had to. "It does help greatly...thank you." He suddenly smiled, although a bit hesitently, with a sudden compulsion to show his gratefulness, regardless of how weird he thought the boy was here. "I suppose, if you were serious, we can will definitely still be friends." He said this, thinking that with how much it was mentioned he had to have meant it so why not oblige. He just hoped he wouldn't regret it. He was in quite the desperate situation so he had to take up whatever came his way here. This was the first thing so far and it just seemed like a must.
Should he state why he thought the boy was weird. He came to go on about these books he had and apparently what was possibly in his room or his home. So, he lived with his father. He had to wonder what he was? As well as whether or not he would be welcomed in his home. Did his father let him invite strangers to his place. Though Veris could say for sure he would cause no trouble. He didn't even think he was capable of doing anything to bother anyone. He just didn't want to go someplace where he would be putting himself in any direct danger. "I hope it would be alright." He thought to say this as he thought of whether it would be alright to stay with him when he hadn't asked his father. "I don't know how to thank you, for saying I could stay." He wondered if he really meant that once more. It could have been a joke. If it was one then it was not appreciated one bit.
"That sounds cool." Veris spoke towards what was named. "That you have all that I mean." He wasn't sure what else to say to make pleasant conversation. "The books and stuff." He wasn't sure what else to say on the matter so he quickly tried to think. "I didn't really mean to say that...you were weird." He had actually meant it but now that he thought about it that wasn't a nice comment to make at all. "It was just I didn't understand what you were going on about and then you were...touching me like how you were earlier and I thought that was weird." He hoped that explained things and he wasn't upset about it. Though it really didn't look like he had been upset about anything here to begin with. He wondered why that was. Perhaps he didn't care about any comments he made. Maybe they were irrelevant. That was understandable. He did just meet him. Who would care what a stranger had to say. He just hoped that this other male here wasn't joking around with him. He was still wary of him but he had to seem somewhat friendly here. It wasn't like going against his nature. His kind weren't really mean. He just wasn't trusting of strangers as he hadn't come to trust this fellow yet either.

“My home…it’s this way. So you can follow me,” he mumbled. “Ah, you can stay as long as you like. It’s not that fancy, but it’s comfortable. And Loren won’t mind because Loren doesn’t mind anything. He’s a reliable person too. If you have problems he can help you. Loren is a good father. He isn’t good at making food, though, but there’s cereal. Oh, um, there are no girls at my house. Sorry.”
Most likely Loren wouldn’t mind if he brought a friend over. He always said he should bring a friend over. He’d never said how long his friend could stay over either. Although Veris might be gone by the time Loren came back. He hasn’t asked how long Veris would be staying on the planet. It wasn’t exactly a place that was liked by foreigners. The planet was an acquired taste he supposed. Most foreigners hated it, but those that were born here were used to it and didn’t know any other place. Lyell hadn’t been born on this planet, but he had learned to tolerate it. His real home wasn’t much better either so he just made the best out of bad situation. Complaining wouldn’t do him much good anyway. It wasn’t like there were many safe places to go. It would be mad if something happened to either Loren or him. If he was gone, Loren would have no one and if Loren was gone, he would be all alone again. He had gotten used to Loren’s bad cooking and short replies. Hopefully Veris would appreciate Loren as much as he did. He didn’t have a mother or older sister, something his classmates were interested in. They always commented on the appearance of others’ mothers and sisters. It only served to remind Lyell he had neither. He wondered what it’d be like if his mother was still around or if he had had a sister. It certainly would have been different. He hoped Veris wasn’t too disappointed he’d be staying with only men.
As Lyell began walking in the direction he had come from, he almost reached out for the other’s hand only to stop himself. He was pretty sure that was only acceptable when you were a lot younger…or dating. Since they were not children, nor lovers, he was sure taking the other’s hand would be offensive to Veris. The other had already seemed uncomfortable when he’d touched his face. His mother had said touching someone in an inappropriate place was bad unless they said it was alright. She had also said if he was not certain, just do not touch someone where they are covered. If that place is covered, it is not to be seen or touched. Yet Veris had been unsettled anyway with his touch. He figured he should just keep his hands to himself. Veris had verified they were friends and if he wanted to keep it that way, he should probably minimize actions that would anger the other. He kept his pace pretty slow to make sure the other could keep up. He was fast when he wanted and he supposed that was part of having Dragonis blood. He couldn’t change his appearance the way his father could but he’d been assured it was nothing to worry about. Loren had said something about him being a “late bloomer,” whatever that might mean. Even with his Wizard abilities, he was pretty terrible. He was bad at telekinesis unlike others. Even though he’d practiced so hard, he didn’t seem to be getting any better at it.
“You don’t have to thank me,” he said, replying to the others comments. “Loren won’t mind because you’re my friend and he said he’d like anyone that was my friend, so that’s why it’s alright. It’s alright too if you think I’m weird. Everyone else does too. I forgot you see. I thought things in my head but I forgot I didn’t say them out loud. Also, I didn’t touch you anywhere inappropriate, so I thought it was alright. I will keep my arms to my sides so they do not touch you if you dislike it. But Veris, what are you? I do not understand what sort of species you are. I’m a Wizard you see. But I’m also Dragonis. I can do things with my mind but I can’t turn into anything. It’s too hard for me I guess. I can show you.”
He didn’t know if Veris knew other Wizards, but they were rare on this planet. In fact, Lyell hadn’t met a single Wizard since he’d moved. He was eager to have someone see his skill, though. Although he wasn’t nearly on the same level as other Wizards, he was proud of the fact he could life small things now. He took a deep breath and levitated the stone in front of him. It was something small, so small it could fit in his hand. He could lift a couple pounds but it was hard. Anything bigger would shake but not float. He felt someone bump into him. He probably shouldn’t have stopped suddenly on a street, but he had been eager to show off. It only took a split second for Lyell to lose his concentration. If he wasn’t focused, his powers wouldn’t work very well. The stone shook in the air before exploding. This was why he didn’t try to levitate things that were alive. When he screwed up, whatever he tried to levitate would explode. He had found out that hard way when he’d tried to levitate several bugs. Luckily he hadn’t tried to levitate a person yet or even a pet.
“That… Was just a practice run!” he hastily assured the other. “If I try again, I can surely do it. I can try again when we get to my home.” He turned and began to walk again, a slight pink staining the bridge of his nose.

Veris had to admit he was really quite relieved to hear the mention of Lyell's father being alright with him over. Well, it was more like this Loren, that he assumed was Lyell's father, was alright with everything. Or rather he didn't mind anything. He wondered if that was true. The idea of him getting to stay with someone he just met for as long as he needed to sounded too good to be true. What if it was though? That he was just being told what he wanted to hear and that was that. Nothing that was true. He didn't care to believe that. He was already wary of those he didn't know. Though he felt he shouldn't really go along with the first thing that looked appealing, looks could be deceiving after all, he didn't know what else he could do at the moment. This seemed to be as good as it got for the time being. There really was nothing more he could do here. He was at a loss if he just turned down the offer.
To be honest, though he hadn't lied so far, he was really quite worried about his overall situation. His kind were naturally a bit wary of others. They were known to be kind and soft spoken. He was no different. It was just one could only get by so far if they didn't assert themselves. Not to say he did that very well. He just spoke up when he needed to and said what he thought needed to be said. Though he couldn't entirely bring himself to be so bold in all occasions. He was only willing to go to so far. That is to say that he could only do so much before he felt like he had come to a dead end and was possibly more vulnerable then he had been from the start. Which wasn't saying much when he felt like anything could come at him and do who knows what without him being able to do much. He knew he was at a very major disadvantage here. If he could hardly do anything to protect himself from the boy he just met here then what chance did he stand against anyone else here. That is any other person about that wanted to do anything with him. Would anyone want to do such? He hoped not. He knew his looks made him appear far from intimidating. In fact the word intimidating should even have been in the same sentence. He wasn't sure how he looked to others exactly. Well, he wasn't sure of the exact words used but he could have taken a good guess. He knew he looked weak. That was something that no one had to come to tell him. He wasn't strong at all. He was better at hiding and keeping away from others then actual confrontation. But he wouldn't get anywhere with that here. It was just the fact that he didn't come here to hide that he was doing what he was doing now. That is, going with someone like this. Coming to this planet like this wasn't something he would have in mind to do by himself. He was just encouraged by his brother and here he was. Perhaps he should have reconsidered everything. With coming here to a place he knew very little about and had even been warned about. This place was far from safe. But if anything was to happen then it would come to happen with the fact he had actually done something other then remain on his home planet in what he considered to be the safest place. With his family in the area they lived in. Where he could so easily avoid others. It was what he did. Not what his brother did. If he considered it a bit more. Maybe he would realize he was trying to be a bit like his brother then to just actually explore like his brother did.
Adjusting the pack that Veris had over his shoulder he moved along to follow behind the other fellow. He didn't really think to say anything at the moment. He just moved along thinking to keep up with Lyell. What could he have said. He was nervous as to was. Unsure of whether he was even making the right choice here. Though he had managed to say what he thought to the boy here he didn't know how much else he could say. He was lucky the boy didn't appear to be the type to strike out or hurt others. He seemed just really confusing overall. To him that is. He didn't really understand the boy. With how they first started talking and all. With how he wanted to be friends. Was this his idea of a joke? He couldn't help but wonder that again. It was hard to believe this was for real. He though he had every reason to doubt this whole situation with what little he knew of the planet and the boy himself. So he said he would be friends with him. Was that a bad thing? He hoped not. He didn't even know why he did what he did now that he thought about it. He supposed he couldn't help the fact he may have actually wanted someone. Just one person. He could say he could trust. Though he didn't really trust the guy. But what was it called then if he was willing to believe he would let him stay with him and perhaps actually be his friend. Perhaps he lost it himself. Since arriving here he had considered himself mad. And not in the upset way either. Perhaps this was just a way that showed exactly how crazy he was here.
Was it really not necessary to thank the other. Though he said that he really felt he should show his appreciate. But he didn't have anything to thank him. Nothing he could do really would be helpful. All he could do was hide and make himself smaller. It always seemed to come back to making himself more vulnerable or just hiding. That was all he seemed to be able to do. Though he very much tired not to appear as he was. Not to seem as if he was as vulnerable as he actually was. "I would still like to though...and be able to show my thanks." He would think of something. If this was for real it seemed like a must. There was nothing to say after that really. Hearing what else Lyell had to say had caught his attention so he didn't think to really say anything more. It really sounded like they were friends. That sounded nice. The way he spoke it sounded like they had known each other for quite a bit. To allow him to stay at his place. But the truth remained he had just met him today. Was it necessary to mention when he had touched him. He couldn't say he liked being touched. Well, not in the random manner that he had been before. "It's not so much that I don't like being touched..." He trailed of thinking he didn't want to sound like someone who had a need for too much personal space but then he was at a loss at what to say so he stopped. Was it hard to tell what he was or did the boy just not know his kind. It was hard to believe with what he was. It sounded like he was from his planet but then he lived here. Perhaps he was born here but neither race originally resided here so he was confused on the matter. It caused him to frown a bit as he considered what to say now. It just made sense to answer the question.
"I'm a Fae." He spoke only loud enough to be heard or so he hoped that he was heard." Veris wasn't sure if he should say more. Hearing what Lyell had said he didn't think he should bother. Besides he was interested in hearing or seeing what it was he could do. He knew about wizards and Drogonis but he didn't dare even try to cross paths with them. Not that he hadn't at least seen one or two in his lifetime so far. It was just he avoided everyone but his own kind. Pretty much all those he considered outsiders were the type he tried to keep away from. He had to wonder if it was a good thing he had come across this fellow or not. To hear he could do what a wizard could made him assume he could do what a Dragonis could. Surely he didn't have to worry about being picked on or anything of the sort. That is being bothered by anyone as he was bound to be.
It didn't seem like it was even necessary to speak. Which he hadn't. He had come to a stop now just watching the other with his lilac orbs. He was silent as he observed him. He looked at him in awe as he saw him raise the stone though it may have been a simple act to any wizard. He was no wizard. He was a Fae. One that avoided all others he didn't know which was everyone that wasn't family or his kind. Still even this bit had him watching the boy ever so intently. But then he found his eyes widening as he saw the stone explode. At that moment he would admit he was briefly frightened by what occurred. He couldn't say why exactly. Maybe because it obviously exploded. Maybe because he thought if Lyell could do that to a simple stone, as stone was quite hard, then what could he do to a person. It had him just a bit more wary then he already was. As long as he wasn't threatened directly he supposed he would try to remain where he was. He would stay with Lyell as he was the only person he could reside with now. There still was little else he could do here still. He didn't have many options. He was thinking over what to do himself now here as he suddenly heard Lyell speak. Did that mean he did it purpose? Or that he wasn't trying and had been careless, meaning he could do better. "Oh I see." He spoke, a bit hesitantly, not quite sure what else he could say at the moment. Seeing that Lyell had already moved forward he quickly moved to follow after. He wondered if he should say anything or try to say anything. He felt he should so he went on to speak. "That was really great though...practice run or not." he spoke, looking off to the side for a moment before looking back to Lyell. He wondered once more how he could thank him with what little he had and what he could do.

“Fae…” repeated Lyell. “Oh I’ve never seen one of those before. What can you do Veris? Can you fly or do some sort of magic?”
Although Lyell didn’t have much practice in the art of small talk, he didn’t want to bore the other and walking in silence would probably be boring. He also didn’t want Veris to think he wasn’t interested in him. He did want to learn about the other. The teen turned to take a long look at Veris, slowing down his pace. Walking backwards tended to get him into accidents so if he slowed down his pace, hopefully that would lessen the amount of incidents. Veris didn’t look like he had some sort of special powers, but you could never be too sure. Lyell didn’t know much about others species. It suddenly occurred to him they must be from the same planet. It lifted his spirits knowing he’d met someone that had come from the same planet as him, Parinenai. Fae and Wizards, as well as Dragonis, were from the same planet, but Lyell wasn’t sure how much interaction they had between each other. He could be wrong about the other’s home planet and Veris could have been born on a different planet, but he had a hunch this was not the case. Even though they were from the same planet, Lyell still hadn’t known much about the Fae. His Wizard family hadn’t socialized with anyone besides other Wizards. Although it wasn’t a nice thing to think, most wizards he knew were snobbish. He was sure they wouldn’t have wanted to associate themselves with Fae. They were particular on whom they talked to. Being around his own kind had made him nervous and uncomfortable so he had avoided it. It was like being a worm under a microscope. All eyes had always been on him and the expressions on his relative’s faces had told him it wasn’t a good thing he was getting so much attention.
His thoughts drifted to his father. He wondered if Veris had ever met a Dragonis before. His father was rather antisocial and liked his quiet. Loren was also a fire-breathing dragon, the most volatile of all Dragonis. At some point, he was sure his father had eaten a Fae, although the man didn’t hunt anymore. He just ate what could be bought in a store now. He’d said he’d lost the eagerness to hunt after he’d stopped being a young man. He hoped Loren didn’t scare Veris. If the two met, he was sure Veris would be slightly intimidated by his father. The man was large and muscular. As he continued to walk backyards, Lyell felt the back of his heel hit something. He stumped and fell over, not noticing the discarded stone on the street. He landed hand on the ground and felt a sharp pain. What’s worse is that someone stepped on his hand too. He quickly held his throbbing hand against his chest. There was going to be a bruise there later. The person that had stepped on him had probably not seen him and pressed too hard. At least he hoped that was the case. The teen quickly stood up and dusted off his hands. Before Veris could ask anything, he pointed to a building and loudly stated it was the post office. He then proceeded to point to several buildings and describe their functions. He turned his back to his new friend and continued giving him a mini tour of the city. At least it would distract Veris from the comical fall. He stopped walking when they reached a tall twenty story building.
“That’s where I live,” Lyell informed the other. “I live on the tenth floor so it’s not that high up. Do you mind taking the stairs? The elevator always breaks so you have to take the stairs often. I’m very strong so it doesn’t matter to me. I hope it won’t be a problem. Oh, um, those are some of the neighbors standing by the doors. You should avoid them. Loren says they’re bad news. At least I think that’s what he said.”
The building was a sad gray color. Once it might have been a nice white, but over time, it had faded into an ugly shade. There weren’t any cracks, nor did the building look like it was falling apart, but it was easy to see the structure was aged. The windows were small and reinforced with bars in every apartment. This was to keep out any unwanted guests. Just because the windows were high didn’t mean it wasn’t possible for someone to get in. The neighborhood seemed quiet and clean enough. Sure it wasn’t a rich part of town, but it was nice enough that it didn’t seem dangerous. The people Lyell had pointed out were staring. They wore tight clothes and glares. Lyell hastily took Veris’ hand and walked towards the building without sparing the neighbors a glance. They weren’t bad people but had questionable habits. They lived down the hall and often times would leave and come at odd hours of the night. As Lyell took Veris into the building, they passed more neighbors. Some didn’t live on his floor but he knew then anyway. He hadn’t learned any of their names, but he had come up with nicknames for them. Of course, he’d never call them by these nicknames to their faces, but he used them when he thought of them. Names were hard for Lyell and he was lucky he had remembered Veris’ name so well. Then again, it was a short name. It was also the name of the first friend he’d ever made, so it was an important name.
“That’s Grumpy Face,” he whispered as an elderly man passed by. “He never says anything nice and has a sour face like an angry cat. Sometimes I worry his face will freeze that way. That would be terrible, don’t you think so? Ah! Ah! That lady is Old Cake. She always complains about her age and about how she’s not married. I told her she’d be more liked if she was less bitter but she got mad and threw old cookies at me. I think she hates me now. Nagging Girl hates me too. But no one likes her anyway.”
He led the other to the stairs but made a point to voice his opinion about all the neighbors. He had nicknames for all of them. Some made sense while other nicknames didn’t as they were part of a private joke in Lyell’s mind. He felt proud of himself for being able to hold a conversation. Usually he struggled a lot more when coming up with something interesting to say. The teen liked being able to share stories with someone new. His father had heard them all already and telling someone a story once was enough. As they reached the stairs, Lyell was reminded he still had a hold of the other’s hand. He let go suddenly and picked up his speed slightly so he could climb ahead of Veris. The stairs were made of metal and were also used for an emergency exit. They were sturdy but made loud noises with every step Lyell took. He tended to stomp when climbing stairs as a habit. Lyell sometimes put more force than was needed into his actions. It made it easy to identity his footsteps, at least when he was on the stairs. Every time he finished a flight of stairs, he waited at the top for Veris. Lyell took more than one step at once in order to speed up the process. If he hadn’t been with Veris, he would have climbed in a more outrageous fashion. This continued until they reached the tenth floor. Lyell opened the hall door and rushed to the apartment door labeled 1010. He reached into his bag to find the key. In his hurry, he dropped several of his bag’s contents onto the ground. Items that fell included a pen printed with hearts on the plastic, several scraps of papers with doodles, and a wallet.
When he found the key, he opened the door wide to let Veris have a view. There wasn’t much furniture in the room, but it was clean. The walls were a pale yellow, but that was the brightest color in the room. Most everything else was a dark color, especially the furniture. The table next to the couch had a picture of Lyell and Loren, but that was the only personal touch added to the living room. Neither male looked like the other and it was hard to identify them as father and son. The kitchen was to the left and straight ahead from the doorway was a hall that led to two bedrooms, a closet, and a bathroom. The kitchen wasn’t full of appliances and all the cabinet doors were closed. The place wasn’t big at all but it didn’t seem cramped either. The apartment had hard wood floors that seemed recently polished. Lyell stepped inside and motioned for Veris to do the same. He sat on the floor next to the doorway and proceeded to take off his shoes. When he was finished, he set his bag on the floor and then took off his jacket. He then walked back to the entrance to retrieve his lost items.
“You can come in if you like,” he told Veris. “I’d keep your socks on. The floor can get cold. Oh but no shoes. Loren will think I did it. But you can sit anywhere you like. Loren won’t be back until much later. He works late. Sometimes he follows people. He gets hired to follow people and take pictures. Isn’t that fun? But usually the person he follows ends up doing something bad like cheating.” He finished picking up his items and walked back into the apartment.

Veris wasn't sure if he should be surprised to hear that Lyell had never seen one of his kind. Though he told him what he was the fact remained he could have been born here. It would have made more sense that way. If he had lived on the planet their kind came from then he would have surely seen his kind at least once though they hadn't met. Even he could say he had at least seen the other races on his world. He just couldn't say he met them all in person. Even he didn't dare approach some knowing the possibilities of what could happen. It was just safer to keep to himself as his kind usually did. Anything else just didn't seem optional. Not that one couldn't do anything else. He just didn't see it as an option for himself. Thus it would be nothing he would do. He would think he was still here, alive as it was, due to what he was use to doing. Being wary of those he didn't know in general. He could imagine some would say differently with their different options but he could be wrong.
Now Veris was wondering if he should go on to mention what he could do. Wouldn't that leave him at a bit of a disadvantage. That is if he mentioned what he could do. In that way whatever he could possibly do would be predicted. That was never a good thing in his book. He didn't want anyone to know that much about him where he would be at some disadvantage here. Not that he could do anything special. He could fly, regardless of his size, and then he could hide himself. But he could also alter the weather. That was it. In his opinion it was nothing special. He couldn't do anything really useful to protect himself. He wasn't strong or anything. He was really lacking. When comparing himself to other Fae he would think he was fairly average. Nothing above. Just average. He didn't really feel like admitting that. Though he didn't see why it was a bother. He never considered it was before. This was really a first he seemed to be thinking of himself like he was now. Of course he may have considered something about himself before in the past but never had he needed to explain himself to anyone. He never really had to speak with someone he wasn't familiar with. Someone who was still practically a stranger who so randomly wanted to be his friend. Someone who took interest in him and seemed kind enough to offer him a place to stay. Though he still didn't quite get that. People weren't usually this nice. At least he didn't know strangers to be nice. Though technically since he knew the others name he wasn't exactly a stranger. Now he was just someone he had met and knew very little information about. That would include all the random things he seemed to mention. He did note some of it while he just didn't keep track of a bit tat seemed so random at the time when they first started talking to each other. Really the other here was a real strange on in his mind. But then he hadn't really met that many people. Other then people on his planet and this didn't include his own kind. He just didn't associate with others. It was a bit hard to believe he was where he was now with that fact being one he was very well aware of. Briefly he wondered in the past what he had hoped to accomplish here but then he considered something and brushed the thought aside to focus on the present.
Lilac orbs were taking in the scene about the Fae and the other male he knew as Lyell. He couldn't help but focus on him as well. The young man who he would think was just a bit younger then he was or maybe not. He didn't guess ages. He could assume but he didn't think to guess. It didn't matter either way though. It was just something to think on during the silence. He could imagine that the boy here might not be one to talk. That is the other male had said so many random things before he wasn't sure if he should come to expect something like this or not. He was thinking over his current situation as he noted when the other male suddenly turned to face him. Was he walking backwards now? Well, it didn't seem he was looking directly ahead. That wasn't safe. He was thinking of saying something on it but it wasn't really his business what the other wanted to to. He however had some regret on that thought when he noted what happened next. It seemed the other tripped coming to land on the ground. Then he was sure he saw someone step on the others hand. Well, he wasn't imagining things he was sure of that as well. Now Veris would have asked if the other was alright but before he could say anything he was up and pointing out a building that caused him to direct his attention to look towards what he pointed out. Following that he seemed to feel the need to point out other buildings and letting him know what they were for. Well this was unexpected. He didn't expect what sounded like a tour of sorts to him. To be told what was what as they passed but it. It made him momentarily forget to ask the question that popped in his mind when the other male had fallen.
Of course Veris came to a stop when Lyell did. Finding his gaze looking up with a bit of awe at the large building they stopped at. He didn't live about such planes. His home was amongst the forested areas. Nothing like this. He was taking a moment to look about for a moment when his attention was caught as he heard what Lyell mentioned about the building. Telling him he lived here. Lived on the tenth floor to be exact. "I don't mind." It came out as a sort of mutter as Veris spoke after hearing what Lyell had to say about them having to take the stairs. He could picture the other being strong. Though he hadn't tested his strength. In comparison to him he wouldn't doubt the majority was stronger. It was another reason to give him to be wary about others. But now wasn't the time to think on it. He was merely giving a nod towards what was said about the neighbors. It was actually unthinkable to approach anyone else. He hadn't even approached Lyell here. What would make him think he would approach anyone at all? If anything the Fae could see himself having just wandered about here and there until someone else spoke to him being far different from the one he was with now. It was a likely possibility but seeing as how he was with Lyell he didn't even need to picture what else could have happened. He was glad he was still here and in one piece. He would definitely have to think the other again.
Taking in the sight of the building that the other said he lived he couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated. Maybe it was the size or the inhabitants. He wasn't sure. All Veris did know as he moved along with Lyell now was that he surely wouldn't come to speak to anyone else here. He was sure of that with the people he saw Lyell point out. Then the people they passed didn't really help. Although as he did mind those they passed but he found himself surprised to hear Lyell speak. Well, it was more like he whispered as they were passing but people. What had he said? He had heard what was whispered but found it hard to believe. He had noted the old man and then the other people pointed out with what sounded like a reason for their names. Veris had to admit he found this all strange but kind of funny. Funny enough he was sure he would have snickered. But this only came after he considered how very weird all of it was. It was just weird or strange enough to be funny. But he couldn't possibly laugh or snicker at anything. If he came to do the latter it was only because he tried to stop himself from laughing. The best thing he could manage at the moment was a clank look as he noted everything about them as they went along their way. He didn't think to speak along the way either. What was there to say? If he tried then surely he would have come to laugh instead and really in front of everyone they passed by that was the last thing he wanted to do. Really he was thinking this whole place was rather strange now. It was up for debate now whether Lyell was as strange as he thought at first when comparing to the others about the building he saw and was told about.
How long had it taken them to reach their destination? He wasn't sure. All he was aware of was the fact that Lyell had taken a hold of his hand earlier. Something he had thought on at first. It had really been quite unexpected. But with all that was said as they went along he didn't notice it anymore. In fact he was a bit comforted at the thought he had someone close to him that he was familiar with to some extent. Already being on a strange planet or more so dangerous then strange, with inhabitants just as strange or dangerous did nothing to help ease his nerves. If there was anything he actually felt like doing it was being closer to Lyell then he was already. For now however it seemed having his hand held was just enough for him. He wasn't sure he could have had any sense of humor on the previously mentioned things if he hadn't felt a bit at ease even the slightest bit. The reminder of holding hands only came back to mind when he felt Lyell had let go of his hand and sped up the stairs they had come up to. Veris was left to trail along, light on is feet, as he followed after the other. If he made any noise going up he didn't note it. What he did note was the noise made but Lyell. But noise wasn't something he minded now. He just watched Lyell as he followed after him as quickly as he could. He would say he kept up fairly well. At least Lyell had waited for him. That was nice. Up until they came to what he saw was their destination. He assumed this as he saw that Lyell had come to a stop by a particular door. That and he had mentally counted that it appeared they were on the tenth floor. Which was where they were heading if he wasn't mistaken.
From there it seemed Veris only needed to wait. He waited as he saw Lyell opened the door and move into the apartment. He had come to a stop a little ways behind him and just watched from where he stood as he noted him going inside. After having opened he door with the key he had after dropping a few items on the floor. He wasn't quite sure what to do then. He just stood there considering that he had actually made it to the place he was invited to stay. A place he was unsure of. Perhaps it wasn't too late to turn back now. He could see some of the inside from where he stood. It didn't look like a place he should feel wary of. It was just in general with the facts he couldn't help but feel how he did. Even seeing he was motioned to come inside as he was he was hesitant to proceed. His lilac gaze seem to go from the apartment to the floor where he briefly noted the things that Lyell had dropped. It seemed his mind seemed to take a moment to wander onto what the items were themselves He found the items were only briefly thought on. The pen he noted that look to have hearts on it particularly attracted his attention. He couldn't assume it belonged to the other. He figured he borrowed it. It just didn't match with the other he was with now. But he only wondered so much on it as he noted that Lyell had come to retrieve them and soon enough he was looking back at the apartment. Should he really go in? He should have come to a decision by now but he still wasn't quite sure.
Hearing Lyell speak to him was perhaps the bit of encouragement he needed. Although he said no encouraging words. It was just he was clearly inviting him in. What else was he to do if he didn't do that? He didn't come all this way for nothing. Did he? Now that he found he lingered outside the door he couldn't help but wonder. Thinking on it bit more however, as he heard Lyell go on talking, he decided to go forward. He proceeded into the apartment now slipping out of the showed he had on. Though he would say they were more like slippers or sandals was the more appropriate word. He just wore open toe brown sandals. Socks weren't even something he had on his person now. It was just that there wasn't need to wear such where he had lived. Really who would wear socks in the forested area he lived in all his life? It wasn't of much use with the warm weather either. But that didn't mean he wasn't going to take them off. Already, after a few steps inside, he reached down to take off his shoes only stopping a moment to adjust the pack he had on his shoulder.
It wasn't like a difficult task to remove his shoes. He soon enough stood with his bare feet touching the floor. He hadn't proceeded that far past the door. From where he noted Lyell had taken his shoes he had taken them off at the right place. Now he just wondered if he needed to put them anywhere in particular. "I see." Veris thought he should speak up to show he was really acknowledging what was said. Not that he wasn't from the start. He also thought he should verbally thank the other again. "Um...I want to thank you again, for letting me stay here." That was all he could think to say at the moment as he let his gaze look about from where he stood now to note the apartment again. Now what should he do? He would admit he was a bit nervous, more then a bit really, but he was here and he would just hope that he didn't make a bad decision with coming here.
Thinking over what he could possibly do now it suddenly came to mind something that seemed to slip his mind earlier. "I...I don't know if you still want to know what I can do but I can still tell you." He was considering asking if he wanted to know instead of boring him with the details. But he had asked earlier and whether or not he had changed his mind he didn't want to seem like he had forgotten or was ignoring him. "I can't do much really, I mean I can do everything someone of my kind can do, I just don't think it's anything special." He spoke this, with his gaze set on the floor for the moment as he went on to speak. "I can fly, change my current form, control the weather, and I can sort of camouflage myself in the environment I'm use to living in." That is was it, he said everything he could do. He wasn't sure if he should say anything more then what he had so he said nothing more. He considered what he mentioned last and realized he hadn't really tried that anywhere else but he just hoped he didn't have to do anything of the sort.

“I can’t change my form,” admitted Lyell. “I tried really hard, but it didn’t work. I can’t turn into a dragon at all. It’s very strange, wouldn’t you say? A dragon that can’t really become a dragon. Even though I worked really hard, I’m always behind everyone. When I levitate things, they explode. They’re not supposed to explode. Ah, it’s not fair. I can’t do anything correctly. Ah! Ah! I do think what you can do is cool. It’s not average at all. I think…it’s really cool.”
To change forms was Lyell’s dream. He had seen his father’s form once and he wanted to be able to do the same. Of course, it never quite worked out the way he wanted. Once, he had tried to hold his breath until he transformed. He had eventually passed out and his face had turned blue. Lyell had performed many outrageous stunts in hopes of succeeding in his dragon transformation. Although his father comforted him and told him it was not something to worry about, Lyell was beginning to wonder if transforming was within his abilities. Maybe he wasn’t even a real dragon. Perhaps he was too Wizard for his Dragonis blood to have effect? It was actually quite depressing. If he hadn’t been so strong, he would have doubted he really had any Dragonis blood in him. He could only use Wizard abilities and was still waiting for a sign of dragon ones. He envied Veris for his skills. Veris would be seen as normal by his species since he could do everything they could. For Lyell, he was an outcast. He had been mocked for his lack of control on his telekinesis and unlike other Dragonis, he’d never know what it was like to fly unless he was able to change form. All he could ever accomplish was breaking things. No matter how much effort he put into perfecting his technique, all that was ever accomplished was the destruction of his father’s possessions. He’d gotten more than one lecture over his behavior and now only practiced outside when no one was looking. It was uncomfortable knowing he was being watched so he tried to keep his affairs out of the prying eyes of his neighbors. His efforts were mostly in vain, though. His nosy neighbors always seemed to be around and watching him like hawks.
“Oh, I haven’t showed you my room. You can stay there… Only if you want, though!” He quickly added. “You can pick another place only don’t pick Loren’s spot because it’ll take me a while to convince him to give up his room.”
He walked past Veris and went down the short hall until he reached a door. The plaque plainly said, “Grimm’s Room” although Lyell did not comment on that fact. Before his father had actually known him properly, he had referred to Lyell as Grimm and even added a nameplate for when they began to live together. Lyell had been a lot shyer at the time and not informed his father he did not like his first name. Although now his father knew better, there were times when the man forgot and called him Grimm anyway. That or Lyell was in trouble. For some reason, calling him by his full name was a common occurrence when he was about to be chastised. Perhaps Loren thought it made him seem more menacing. It only served to make Lyell cringe every time he heard the name “Grimm.” Really, his mother had bad naming sense. It made him seem depressing and ominous. She had never given him a good reason either as to why she had chosen such a bad name. He shrugged off the thought and instead turned his attention to the door. He tried to open the door, but it was stuck. He pushed until the door was forced open. Sometimes his door was hard to open but that was mostly due to the fact Lyell had broken it one too many times. It was not his fault he had a strong grip and arm. Sometimes he forgot the door wasn’t meant to be slammed by a dragon. Once, he had been rather angered and put all his strength into opening the door. It had come clean off its hinges and he’d had to pay his father for the repairs. Another time he had foolishly kicked the door open. Although they were accidents…sort of…his father never took it that way and was always angry. It unsettled him having his father angered.
He motioned for Veris to come closer and have a look at the room. He wasn’t shy about letting his friend see his room. It wasn’t much to look at but he supposed it was better than sleeping on the floor. Besides, Loren was fussy about the floor. He liked it nice and clean. Someone sleeping on it would surely displease him. Lyell had drawn pictures and placed them all over his walls to cover the horrid paint. They weren’t professional looking and were rather childish looking, some even drawn in crayon, but Lyell was proud of them nonetheless. His bedding was covered in a star and moon print while his ceiling had wind chimes dangling from it. Even the windows were not saved from Lyell’s poor taste. They had been drawn on with permanent paint. Even so, they did not completely block the viewer’s sight to the outside world and if one squinted enough, the street outside became clear. Lyell’s room did not have a particular order to it. Mostly, it consisted of whatever Lyell happened to fancy at the time. When he found something he liked, it was quickly added to the room, regardless of it if clashed with the rest of the décor or not. Lyell also had a penchant for making things with his hands, whether it was drawing or actually building something. A few of the wind chimes were also handmade. They were silent unless the window was opened in which case the wind would bring them to life. On the bed was a handmade stuffed animal. A few strings were poking out and the ears were crocked. It was supposed to be a rabbit but somehow looked like a pink dog instead. Lyell was not gifted with talented hands. In fact, he was rather bad at making things, yet he loved to do it anyway.
The closet door was open to reveal all the clothes he owned. Most were dark colored as well as his shoes. The only neat part of the room was the closet, which had been organized the week before. On his dresser were various items ranging from marbles to photographs. The photographs were blurry as Lyell was not good at photography. The floor was surprisingly void of laundry, but that was only because Lyell had recently washed his clothes. On any other day, his floor would have had a nice pile of dirty socks and shirts. He walked across the room and opened a window in case Veris felt the room was too stuffy. It tended to get dusty and Lyell did not keep good maintenance of his room unless scolded. The wind chimes moved as soon as the window was opened. He tried to explain to Veris how he had acquired each one. How the one in the corner had been made in his art class or the one on the left had been a gift from Loren when they’d gone to a festival. Each wind chime was different and Lyell had made sure no two looked the same. It was another hobby of his. He actually had many hobbies yet was a master of nothing. Even though he had a variety of interests, he was never truly good at one thing and just a novice at many. It occurred to him that Veris might not be interested in his many knick knacks so he quickly finished his story and sat down on the bed. It creaked slightly as it was not a new bed, but as long as it didn’t break under his weight, Lyell was fine with sleeping on anything. He quickly shoved his stuffed animal under a pillow in case Veris decided to tease him about the pink bunny.
“I like my room,” he stated. “It’s fun. Oh, you can see Loren’s room too. You’ll be disappointed, though. It’s not as great as my room.”
He grabbed the other’s hand before he could protest and dragged him to his father’s room. The hall was so small it took less than 10 seconds to arrive. He opened the door and stood in the doorway with Veris, holding his hand tightly. He told himself he was just guiding the other and didn’t want to hold his hand at all. That was a lie, though. Maybe he wanted to hold it just for a little while. Just as Lyell had said, it was indeed a disappointing room with hardly any sort of decoration. The comforter was a dark black and the sheets the same color. There was nothing on the walls, not even a poster. The ugly paint color was clearly visible. The closet door was closed, as were the windows. It was so painfully clean and organized that it was hard to picture someone actually living in the room. The only sing of a being living there was a photograph of Lyell on the nightstand. He was alone in the picture, though, and that was the only personalization of the room. To Lyell it wasn’t unusual since Loren was a rather conservative and stoic man. To others, it made Lyell’s father seem like a robot, someone without feelings of his own. Lyell let go of Veris’ hand before rushing over to the bed and jumping on top of it, effectively ruining the picture of organization. The bed was now tussled and unmade. A few of the pillows fell to the ground. He cheekily grinned at the other, pleased with his own actions.
“It’s more fun when it’s all messed up,” he plainly told Veris. “Isn’t that right? Oh, I haven’t offered you anything have I? You’re supposed to offer guests things… Um, drinks and snacks or something. I’m sure we have those things. So then let’s go to the kitchen.”
Lyell walked out of the room, expecting for Veris to follow him. He walked to the kitchen and wondered what he should get for Veris. He searched and found they had crackers and juices. If Veris was hungry he’d have to actually cook for him. Lyell and his father were pretty terrible at cooking and opted for simple meals because of this. Once, Lyell had ended up starting a fire. Since then his father had been wary of letting him cook unsupervised. He didn’t mention this to Veris as to not worry him. That time had been a fluke. He’d just misread the directions was all… He took several items from the cupboards and placed them on the counter. There were cans and boxes, but he wasn’t sure what would be appropriate. He’d never had to entertain a guest before so he wondered if his manners were fine. Sometimes he was accused of not being polite or being too polite. Somehow he never found the right median. Eventually he realized he had taken out everything from the cupboard and placed it on the counter. He wasn’t sure he even know how to cook all the items. He picked up a can and read the directions only to confuse himself. He did the same with a box and then decided it probably wasn’t worth the effort and turned his attention to the box of crackers. That at least was easy to understand. It was while he was opening the box of crackers that the phone decided to ring. It was rather old compared to the newer models, but at least it had an answering machine. Unfortunately, that proved to be a rather unwanted feature in Lyell’s case.
He didn’t bother picking up the phone due to the fact he was occupied and let the machine take the message. Of course, it was also the fact he wasn’t supposed to be home that made him hesitant to answer the phone. He was supposed to be at school. His vice principal hadn’t forgotten that fact as she left a lengthy message about his responsibilities as a student. Lyell quickly dropped the box and pressed the button to delete the message. When he didn’t press the correct one he pressed many more buttons and hopefully had settled the problem. Loren would be suspicious if there were no messages on the machine, so his only option was to delete the message. He was almost positive it had been deleted…but he wasn’t sure. He often made mistakes with the machine. Oh well, he’d check later. His heart pounded and he sighed with relief. That woman scared him as much as he hated to admit it. She often scolded him and although Lyell deserved it, that didn’t mean he had to like it. Besides, she was a hag anyway. She had too much make-up on her face, not that it hid the wrinkles on her skin. She also had long nails and a rather sour expression. If he hadn’t known any better, he would have thought she was waiting for an opportunity to hit him. She had earned a spot as Lyell’s least liked staff member at his school. He wanted to tell her so, but he knew it would only land him in detention. Everything he did seemed to end with some kind of punishment.
“Aaah… Loren’s going to be mad,” he whined to himself. “Oh, um, if you heard that Veris, don’t tell Loren. Pleeeease. He’ll get mad. He says school is important even though it’s dumb. So um, if he finds out, I’ll tell him about it. But if he doesn’t find out, let’s just not mention it, okay?” He quickly said this as he turned his attention back to the box.

Veris wasn't expecting to hear what Lyell had first come to say. About him not being able to change his for. What was he referring to? It was a question he would have asked if it hadn't been answered before it could have been spoken. He was saying he couldn't change into a dragon. Well, he certainly hadn't known that and wondered why he mentioned it. What was he to think of that? He wasn't sure. Was it unfortunate. It sounded that way to him. He wasn't sure. Should he say something about it. He also wasn't sure on that. He couldn't change into anything to even compare to being a dragon. He was just an even smaller and more fragile being. Clearly nothing to be acknowledged. Well, if anyone cared to acknowledge it he couldn't imagine it being in a positive way as he couldn't see anything food coming from what made him even more vulnerable then he already was. Even if it was just the natural way his kind were. He really didn't have anything to say on that or himself. At least not at the moment.
It was actually a relief to hear that Lyell didn't think negatively of what he could do. To say it was cool though he didn't know if he could agree on that. It was just a normal thing for his kind but perhaps it was cool for others. He knew he could imagine changing into a dragon being a cool thing. Though he would admit he was still a bit, if not more so, fearful of the other race that he knew also existed on his planet and could easily devour him or do something more. It was just when comparing the two races it was quite obvious as to who had the advantage and that certainly wasn't his kind. That didn't mean he was fearful here though and not because the other he just met couldn't change into a dragon. He could say he was nervous but nothing more, at the moment. The fact still remained he wasn't really fearless around dragons in general. Not that he did that well around wizards either. Actually besides his own kind he didn't do that great with anyone he didn't know in general. It really had him wondering how he ever got to be where he was with how he was normally. Perhaps it was the way he had met Lyell. That had to be it. Regardless of all he found out since coming here he was still here and hadn't gone off yet. Though he couldn't say he had given the situation that much thought yet. He still had no options here really so what did he have to lose. Besides the obvious or what he thought was the obvious as he was aware this whole planet wasn't exactly the safest around and he was better of here then in the streets where someone could do who knows what to him.
It occurred to Veris then he should probably say something. Whether it was a mere comment or if it was to say thanks he ought to say something. It seemed rude not to. Even if he was never one to talk of this and that at any point in time. He had t tell himself that if he was silent here he wouldn't really be getting anywhere and he wanted to express how much he appreciated being able to stay here though he still had nothing he could do. That is all he had on him was the pack he brought alone and the closes, as well as the shoes, he had on. Not that the latter was one anymore as he slipped out of his shoes. The point was he had nothing to give and not that much to spend. He was stuck in a particular situation that had him even more at a disadvantage then he would like to be. Not that he liked being considered as someone who could be taken advantage of. It was a slightly troublesome thought so he quickly brushed it aside now trying to focus on what he thought he should say. Another thanks would do. Not just for letting him stay but for what was said about him. It just made sense to. He didn't quite plan to say anything other then thanks for this and that. He wondered for a moment though if saying such over and over could get bothersome. He was aware he had thanked the other fellow already but he couldn't help but thank him again. However before he had the chance to utter anything he wanted to verbalize he found he heard Lyell speaking again. Saying something about his room.
It wasn't as if Veris expected to be shown anything so he wasn't sure what to think on the mention of him being shown Lyell's room. Although it was unexpected he couldn't say he was shocked or surprised. When one had no particular thought in mind on the subject to behind with that didn't leave much think on. Though he should have probably considered where he would sleep. The mention of him staying anywhere in particular, that is to sleep, hadn't come to mind before or he didn't recall hearing anything on it. Now that he had it in mind he wondered how many options he had on where he could sleep. Was he referring to just sleeping in his room or did he mean taking up the bed or perhaps sleeping on the floor there. It was something he had to ask .Something he couldn't help but wonder. He supposed he couldn't say anything on it. He alt least knew what options he didn't have. He couldn't imagine even wanting to stay in the room belonging to the boy's father. It was just ludicrous. That being said in a way that he thought it was an impossible thing to request. Well, not impossible. Just not one that made sense. He thought he was lucky enough as it was to be here. Ge certainly did not intend to push things by asking for just anything. For the moment he wasn't thinking to say anything on the subject. He just quietly followed along behind Lyell. He would admit he was curious to see what his room looked like. He wouldn't have come to inquire about it though so he thought himself lucky in this situation. He actually got to see the room of the rather eccentric fellow, he thought he was, he met only today.
All the while as Veris followed along behind Lyell he looked here and there taking in all he passed even if it wasn't much. It didn't seem long before he noted they came to a stop where he found it odd they came to a door with a plaque that he thought had someone elses name on it. Who was this Grimm? Was it a nickname? Did someone else stay in here before him and left it there? He started to wonder this and a few other things on the possibilities but then he found his thoughts wandering towards a different subject as he actually came to enter the room behind Lyell. Though it seemed to take some time before the door was opened. He found himself looking around with a bit of awe. The room he was seeing now certainly was interesting. If he didn't know better, and he wasn't sure, he would say this room very much suited the youth he was with. Why wouldn't it? It seemed to have a lot of things he imagined would say something about Lyell if he tried to think on it. That and it seemed he was quite the colorful person or perhaps there was something more to it then that. Well, he wasn't sure and he wasn't thinking to dwell on it. At the moment he was just taking in all that he saw and thinking to try to remember it if he could. He imagined he would be here for some time, perhaps not very long as he didn't care to intrude, but he didn't care to forget anything once he left. He wasn't thinking that far ahead though. He recalled the fact this was a bedroom here which caused his gaze to briefly travel to the bed. He only briefly let his gaze pass over it before he looked about the room again before his gaze settled onto a door that he saw was open. If he wasn't mistaken it looked to be a closet. He could guess and it made sense as he saw there were clothes there. None anywhere near as colorful as how he saw the room. He wondered on it for a moment but then it seemed like a useless thing to ponder on so he brushed that aside.
It wasn't until Veris heard Lyell speak did he look back towards him. It seemed he was mentioning something about the things in his room. It seemed he had quite a bit to say and he noted some of it but he didn't really find much interest in it. He figured it had sentimental value and that was nice. He didn't meant to let his attention wander but he looked about the room again focusing on one thing in particular one moment then another things the next. His gaze was soon back focusing on Lyell though when he noted he finished speaking of the particular subject he was on and saw he had moved to settle onto the be. The bed he now let his gaze linger on. He thought he saw him move something but he wasn't sure. He considered asking about it but then he heard Lyell speak again. He would say, if asked, that he found he was quite fond of the unique appearence of the others room. He very well thought to say that but he heard someone about seeing Loren's room and it had him wondering of he was serious. He didn't have to be show any other room. Especially one he didn't know if they were allowed to see. Not that he didn't think Lyell could see it. It was just he was a stranger and he didn't want to cause any trouble here. Not that he intended to. It was just he didn't want to go about here and there when he wasn't sure if he was really welcome. He was thinking to say he didn't have to show him anything when he found his hand was taken and he was dragged along before he could utter a single word.
If Veris wasn't mistaken it was a really short walk to what he assumed was the room belonging to Loren. He was still thinking to say something about not going in but then Lyell seemed quick to open the door and before he knew it he was looking inside the bedroom of the male he heard was called Loren. Was it really alright to be here? It was a question he wondered but hen he did note the room itself and his thought drifted a bit. He just couldn't help but think the room was rather plain. Did it really belong to anyone. He might have other otherwise if he hadn't seen a picture in the room. He supposed that this was just how this Loren liked his room. Like how unique Lyell seemed to have his room. It wasn't much in comparison though. But he didn't think on that for long either. His mind was soon focusing on the youth he was with who suddenly jumped into the bed slightly startling him. Seeing how the room was so practically...untouched or not phased by any mess he wasn't sure what to think here. As if it was his room and he had a fear of mess he was at a loss for word. Not that he said much so far. Hearing what Lyell said then had him looking at him curiously. He was till at a loss of words here. What could he say to that? He was a stranger here. Personally he didn't really have a thing with messes but he couldn't say that he was the type to keep thing completely clean. Not that he had much to keep clean with where he lived. There was not much to clean up really. He was thinking on responding in some manner when the mention of offering him something came up. Really, he didn't have to do a thing so he didn't see why he was doing all this.
"Really, it's not necessary." Veris managed to say that much but then he saw Lyell had already come to take off. He couldn't help but frown a bit as he lingered a bit where he stood before moving to quickly came to follow Lyell. Perhaps he could catch him before he started anything. If he came to start anything. He really didn't think to have the other fix him anything. Although it was all very much appreciated. This really just gave him more to thank the other for when he had the chance to voice or show his appreciation though he didn't know how to show it. He could be affectionate, in the manner that anyone thanking another would be, but then he just met the other today. Though his kind were known to be friendly, far from being intimidating or anything of the sort, or at least kind that didn't mean he would go being anyway with anyone he just met. He was thinking to simply voice his appreciation as he walked now not quite sure what to expect now hat he seemed to see quite a bit of things or at least he thought he had. He had no idea. All he wanted was a place to stay. That didn't mean he asked for food or anything else. But then that left him wondering how he would get everything. Unless he had a job and made money here it seemed he would be partially relying on strangers to help him which wasn't a thought he liked very much.
Veris came to a stop upon spotting the kitchen. Just in time to hear the phone ring. He stood there for a moment simply looking at the phone and noting that Lyell ignored it. He wondered why. He wasn't thinking to ask though. It was none of his business. He just stood there thoughtfully as he looked down at he phone before simply looking at Lyell. His gaze only came back down upon hearing the answering machine that had him frowning by the time the person who spoke was done with all they seemed to have to say. It seemed Veris learned something new here. Apparently Veris was a student. He hadn't guessed that though he had noted he seemed younger then him. He hoped hehadn't kept him from anything. He made a note to apologize as he found himself still frowning a bit as his lilac orbs came to focus on the phone for a moment. Well, he had at least until he heard Lyell speak again. He noted he sounded worried. At least he thought so. Hearing the mention of him speaking of what was said on the answering machine he quickly gave his head a slight nod. He had no intention of telling. "It's none of my business anyways." He had no right to mention a single thing. Especially if it could get him into trouble.
"You know, I appreciate all this but you don't have to." Veris referred to the food as he spoke now looking at Lyell still. He really didn't want it to seem like he was making him do anything. He was fully capable of handling himself and if anything he could always fix himself something to eat. Well, that was if he was allowed to fix himself something to eat. Though he imagined that with what Lyell said he was and with what his father was he didn't know if there would be anything he wanted to eat. Well, he wouldn't say that. He would say his favorite thing wouldn't be here for sure. That was unfortunate but he was sure he could make do without it. He had to wonder now if he should do anything. "Is there anything I can do to help?" It was a question he thought to ask just in case. He didn't want to stand around doing nothing.
There was a moment of silence from there as Veris considered something. "About where I'll be sleeping." He started off, wanting to make the subject known. "I don't quite know what you have in mind but I would want to be a bother or anymore of a bother then I imagine I might be." Really, he could see by what was going on now that would be a fact or the truth. "I don't need a big place to sleep." He said this considering something now in particular. "In fact I don't need a bed at all." He considered that with what he could do he could take advantage of it. Seeing there was a lack of an extra room. One he wouldn't bother with unless it was said from the start he could use it. "I can change to a smaller size and then I wouldn't even be noticed." Of course he didn't consider that he made himself just a bit more vulnerable then he already was. "So you can just give me someplace small to sleep." All he considered was that he just needed at least a semi-comfortable place to rest. Just on something soft and not hard but even if it was the latter he would be alright. He was just grateful to be where he was now.
