Aneiring smiled at the boy, he was nervous but not afraid, which was good. His large brown eyes were open, displaying all of his emotions. He could not deny him an answer to his question but he had to be careful. 'Blend in, yes, yes, shut up already,' he told his inner voice.
"It is a fairly far, a substantial journey. What it is like? To me, it is home. The people are friendly and the weather is pleasant. There is not much to tell," he said. He took a cookie off his plate and waved it in front of the boy. "You should eat your cookies."
"What is that you were reading?" he asked, gently diverting the focus off him and back to Landen. He couldn't risk telling him too much about himself, he wasn't prepared for the reaction Landen would surely have to his actual home and heritge.

Landen blinked, surprised and a little upset that that was all the answer he was going to get. He wanted to hear more, but he didn't push it beyond pouting slightly. If Aneirin didn't want to tell him, then he wasn't going to. That's all there was to it.
At the mention of cookies, Landen's mind completely lost whatever he had been contemplating... for now, anyways. It would be back later; in the mean time... cookies were more important. He grinned in happily before taking one of his cookies and biting it in half, chewing contentedly. After swallowing, he glanced back down at his book, scrunching his nose in distaste before answering.
"Ah... Yes... That's a book for school. I really don't even know much of what it's about... Animals, obviously, but beyond that it seems that I can't seem to concentrate," he explained, a sheepish laugh escaping him.

Well, so Landen was not really the studious type. He had hardly expected it of him, he seemed too much of a free spirit for it.
"You are studying animals?" he asked, trying to get the boy to open up.
It would be an asset to him if Landen enjoyed animals. No, he quickly smothered that thought. Liking animals is not the same as liking alien panther-shapeshifters. He was really getting tired of that pull towards Landen, it made him careless in his desire to share evrything with him. 'I'll be telling him my deepest secrets before long, if this keeps up. And I simply can't allow that,' he thought sadly.

Landen smiled and nodded. "Uh-huh! I love animals!" he answered before finishing off the rest of his cookie. Once the treat was swallowed, he gave the dark-haired man a curious look. "What about you? What do you do? I'm just in college right now, so I'm not really doing much of anything but studying."

Now that was a disaster waiting to happen, wasn't it? Aneirin thought long and hard but he couldn't really think of anything. He decided to try and save his ass with mindless batshit.
"I travel a lot, exploring new places," he said. Landen could make of that anything he wished. And then he had an idea.
"As I am new in town, could you show me around a bit?"

Landen smiled. "Oh, that sounds like fun!" he exclaimed before nodding at the other's question. "Ah! Sure! It's really not all that interesting, really, but if you want to," he replied, placing his last cookie in his mouth all at once.

"Yes, please," he said, but is was not really interested in the scenery. He wanted to spend more time with the boy while he still could. He knew he would have to leave.
That thought gave him serious pain, like a claw squeezing his heart until he could hardly move. This wasn't happening. It wasn't. This boy was absolutely not his mate. The timing was horrendous!

Landen nodded happily, closing up his books and placing them in the bag on the floor beside him. Once the cookie was safely chewed and swallowed, pulled a wallet from his back pocket, placing enough money on his table to cover his check and tip. "Want to leave now? I'm in no hurry, but the city is... well, kinda-maybe-sorta big."

Aneirin raised an eyebrow at the boy. "I never meant for you to show me every nook and cranny," he said, staring at the paper money in his hand in confusion. He shrugged and dropped a pile of it on the table. "Besides, there is always tomorrow."
...But there wasn't, really. Yes, here was part of tomorrow. But there would be no tomorrow after that. Ah hells. He was going to have to do something drastic. Aneirin knew he was hopeless at drastic! He sighed resignedly and quickly forced a smile on his face. No need to worry the boy quite yet.

Landen blushed and laughed nervously. "Ah... yeah... right. Well... Then.... I guess it won't take so long then," he mumbled, using the action of pushing his hair behind his ear to try to hide his burning, red face.

Aneirin put a hand on the boy's shoulder in what he hoped was a comforting gesture. "As long as you like," he said gently. "I'm interested in anything you can think to show me. As I said, exploring is what I do."
He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Do you have a favourite spot? I would love to see it if you do."

Landen made a surprised sound, the contact with Aneirin sent another wave of warmth and comfort through him. He nodded silently at the other's words before picking up his messenger bag and slinging it over his shoulder; the weight from the large book made him mentally groan in distress. He didn't want to have to carry it all over town! "Well... hmm... My favorite place? That would be either here in this shop, the park, or maybe... home," he replied, "I have an apartment suite just across the street." He pointed in the general direction of his suite, though the view was blocked by the ceiling, since he lived on the third floor. "Where would you like to go?" he asked curiously, leading the Aneirin out the front door of the coffee shop.

Aneirin resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the boy. Without bothering to ask he plucked the bag off his shoulder. What was he thinking, carting that monstrous book around! Why did he even assume Aneirin would let him burden himself like that? Well, he would just have to learn that some things would have to change. He slung the bag over his own shoulder effortlessly and resisted the urge to pick the boy up and sling him over his other shoulder. He really had no idea how alluring he was, did he?
He smiled at Landen's expression and weighed his options. Eventually he settled on a plan. "Let us make use of the daylight. Park first, and then I will take you home. It would make no sense for you to have to make silly trips to satisfy my whims."

Landen made another surprised sound when his bag was taken from him; he hadn't been expecting that. "Oh! Ah... You don't have to... I mean... I can carry it!" he argued weakly. He gave up easily, though. He knew that, really, he couldn't. He was kinda pathetic when it came to carrying heavy stuff like that. "Ah... thanks..."
Nodding at the Aneirin's suggestion. "That sounds good to me! Let's see.... the park is.... this way!" he exclaimed, pointing down the sidewalk before taking off in that direction.

He didn't really think about what he was doing when his arm slid around Landen's waist. To be honest, he hadn't consiously noticed it. His body had taken on a life of its own and it was choosing to be as close to Landen as possible. He wondered what the boy would do if he kissed him, would he pull away in disgust? Aneirin wouldn’t be at all surprised if he did. If he could just hold on for a bit longer, just so he could let Landen become more comfortable with him. Perhaps then it would be alright, perhaps then he would finally get to taste those lips he couldn’t stop staring at.
Aneirin wondered what Sessek would think of Landen. His boss would probably be taken with him as much as Aneirin himself was. He nearly stopped dead in his tracks when he realised what he’d thought; he was actually planning the human in to his life. He glanced at Landen and was immediately drawn in to those eyes. A stubborn lock of hair fell in to his face just so and he reached out to brush it aside. “Oh, I…I’m sorry,” he quickly apologised, drawing his hand back. "I shouldn't have presumed."
