Pheonix faltered slightly in his step, clutching tightly to Cleons arm for a second. "You um......you don't know what school is?" His golden eyes were wide in wonder. Just where had Cleon come from? He knew his clothes were different and he had an air about him that screamed authentic but he hadn't even thought to ask about his friend.
"It's uh.....it's a stupid place where kids all have to go to learn the ways of the world," at this he rolled his eyes," in general it's where kids like me go to get picked on by the elite buttheads of the world. Cleon...where exactly did you move here from?" He stopped completely right outside of the line of hedges below his bedroom window. He looked up at the half cracked window and sighed. He would rather not spend all night working on homework and dealing with his mom, when he had been having such a wonderful time.

Stupid question! Cleon yelled at himself in his mind. School seemed like a normal Earth thing, why hadn't he looked it up before? And why couldn't Humans just learn at home like he did? Most people did where he came from. Besides, it didn't seem like such a great place if people like Pheonix were picked on. That made him really mad, actually. He wanted to find these 'elite buttheads of the world' and... do bad stuff to them. Which sort of surprised him, since he normally wasn't a very violent person.
The Dragonis' shrugged. "I'm from a place really far from here.... I live in the middle of a forest. My parents taught me pretty much everything I needed to know, so I didn't go to 'school'," he answered, looking around at the same time. They must have already arrived at his friend's house. Which was a shame, because he didn't want to leave Pheonix alone. Especially with a mother who didn't care for him. "Who are these 'elite buttheads'?" he asked. "I would like to meet them," he said determinedly. He wasn't sure what he would do when they came face to face... but he supposed he would think of something eventually.

"Hmmm....your home... it sounds nice," he smiled whistfully and glanced once more at his window. It didn't seem that his mother had checked yet and for that he was grateful. On the other hand, it probably meant he was going to be picking her up off the livingroom floor and getting her comfy in bed so she would make it to work the next day.
After a beat he glanced back at Cleon, surprised by the boys suggestion. Even more surprising was the idea that lodged itself in his mind and before he could stop himself, he was speaking. "If you want......well since you're new...maybe.....how would you like to stay over tonight? You can use our phone to call your parents if you think that would be okay. I may have to take care of my mom real quick and that will give you time. Then you can come to school tomorrow with me and i'll show you around....and the people there. During lunch we can skip out and have the rest of the day to ourselves."
He kept his eyes nervously on Cleon. It was the first time he had ever invited anyone to his house, and he wasn't sure what to do. He found himself vaguely wondering if he had remembered to pick up his jeans from where they lay on his floor, and if his bed was still a mess. He'd always been self-concious about how messy he tended to be.

Cleon smiled happily. "A sleepover?" he asked. "That'll be so fun! Thank you Pheonix, for inviting me to stay the night. I won't have to ask my parents, they aren't here. They're back at the forest home...," he trailed off awkwardly. He should have planned out his story ahead of time. This was going to get hard to explain, and he didn't want to have to lie to his new friend. He knew Humans didn't know about the other planets, so saying his family was back on Parinenai would be really stupid.
"And I would love to go to school with you!" he said excitedly. "Then after you can show me around...," he trailed off. He was looking forward to going to school, if only to see this people picking on his Pheonix and teaching them a thing or two. Wait... his Pheonix? He shook his head slightly, dismissing the thought for now. But he would save it for later, when he could think more freely.

Wait....his parents aren't here? I thought.... He let the thought trail off. He could see Cleon seemed to be a bit uncomfortable everytime it was brought up, so he dropped it. Instead, he grinned and hugged Cleon on impulse. He was so excited and the other boy had already been there, his arm already placed comfortably around Pheonix's shoulder. Blushing he pulled away. "I...um....I need to unlock the door real quick. Just wait right here, it'll only take me about a minute."
Swerving around the line of hedges he jumped onto the water drain running up the side of the house, climbing up as swift as a cat. From there he jumped onto the small roof over the porch and shimmied to his bedroom window, clutching precariously to the side of the house. His bedroom was pretty chilly and he took the time outside in the hall to jam the heater up before dashing back downstairs. As predicted his mom was passed out on the livingroom couch, a bottle overturned on the carpet, dripping amber liquid.
Sighing he went to the door and undid the deadbolt. He'd work on getting Cleon settled and comfortable first. He pushed down the warm, fuzzy knot in his stomach and promptly opened the door. "Come on in," he smiled at how the light coming from inside lit up only Cleon, riveting his attention solely on him.

Cleon smiled happily when Pheonix hugged him, but as soon as it came it was gone. And he was filled with horror as the boy began climbing the side of the house. What if he fell and broke his neck?! The Dragonis' reasoned that he would catch him before that happend. His red hair dissapeared into the window.
A few minutes later, after waiting anxiously outside, he heard the door open and turned. A light flowed out from the door, and there was Pheonix. Smiling at him kindly, and allowing him inside. He smiled back and walked inside. "You didn't forget about me!" he laughed, bringing the other boy into a hug after the door was shut. He wasn't sure why he'd said that but... oh well, he couldn't always stop what came out of his mouth. "What now?" he asked, looking around.

Pheonix allowed himself to be pulled into the hug although it came as a bit of a surprise. It just felt so good to have some attention paid to him. He wanted to assure Cleon he could never forget about him but didn't know how. He wasn't very experienced in that area. Instead he turned and motioned the other boy towards the steps. "I just need to do somthing real quick." He stole into the livingroom and righted the bottle before grabbing an afghan off the chair and draping it over his mom. Carefully he pushed back her hair, unclipping the pins that would leave marks and tossing them onto the table. He sighed. It wasn't that he hated his mom. Sometimes he just couldn't stand how she let herself go, how she was no longer the strong person in his life.
He turned off the light and walked back to Cleon, taking hold of his hand. "Well, now I guess you get to see my room. Don't mind if it's messy....I uh.....I don't usually notice if I picked anything up or not...." He tugged the other boy up the steps, butterflies dive-bombing his stomach, and pushed open his bedroom door. The light was on, revealing his neat little bed covered in blue sheets and comforter, a writing desk piled high with books and miscellaneous papers, two bookshelves, a t.v stand, and various mismatched outfits tossed on the floor. He grimaced before stepping in, smiling apolegetically.

Cleon smiled, and tightend his hold on Pheonix's hand. "It's not that messy," he smiled. "You haven't seen really messy until you've seen my brother Baraz's house," he giggled.
(too short >.<)

"Still.....," he kept hold of Cleons tightly clutched hand, leaning down to pluck up a shirt and jeans. Without looking he tossed them into his adjoining bathroom before leading Cleon over to the bed and plopping down.
"Tell me about your brother...do you only have one? I bet it's nice having a brother....." He wanted to know as much as he could about Cleon. The other boy was the first person he had ever felt such a strong connection with. He looked at his stack of waiting homework and brushed it off. He could do it in study hall first period. ((Haha, that's okay ^_____^))

Cleon smiled and sat next to Pheonix on the bed. “I have six brothers,” he said softly. “And, I’m the youngest. There’s Azhar, Adel, Baraz, Blythe, and Cadfael. I’m closest with Blythe. He’s 25… but we still get along very well. Azhar is 29… almost 30. Wow he’s getting old,” he muttered to himself. “Adel is 28 and Baraz is 26. And Cad’s 19. He’s always off running around somewhere. I know he loves us all, and we love him. It’s just that he likes to travel.
“I’m the only one that lives with Mom and Dad now. But it’s okay, the others live close enough that we see them very often. They all like to rough house. I don’t really that much,” he said, making a face. “I play with them once in awhile, but they are so strong that it makes me feel weak,” he admitted, blushing lightly. All his brothers really were very strong but…. He didn’t want his new friend to think him as some weakling that couldn’t protect him from people. Wait… why did he feel the need to protect Pheonix? Was it just because they were friends? Or something… more. Without realizing it, his face had scrunched up a little as he thought over his feelings for Pheonix.

'Wow...six brothers. I wish my parent had stayed together long enough to have another....I'd really like to have a brother.' He giggled a little at the mental picture of Cleon rough housing with a whole group of exotic look alikes.
"I don't think you're weak," he whispered before noticing the scrunched up look on Cleons face. He looked sad...or lost in thought. Immediately Pheonix jumped to his feet. "Oh...Cleon? What's wrong.....i'm sorry, we don't have to talk about it if you're uncomfortable." Fiddling with the hem of his shirt he bit his lip. He didn't want to mess this up. He didn't want to make his friend....or more than friend? He couldn't tell anymore. It was so confusing. One minute he was glad Cleon was there to talk to and the next he was blushing and flustered. What was wrong with him? Anyways, he didn't want to make him nervous in any way.

“Huh?” Cleon mumbled. He saw Pheonix standing in front of him looking upset and nervous. “Oh, sweetie, it’s not your fault! I was just thinking over… some things,” he said quietly. He smiled softly. The red head really was special to him. Even if they only knew each other for a few hours, it felt like they had known the other a lot longer. Could it be that… Pheonix is my mate? he thought wondrously.
His purple eyes widened. “Oh…,” he muttered. “Pheonix… come here,” he said softly. He pulled the boy onto his lap carefully and held him close. “Pheonix I- I mean, how do I put this? Where I live, we believe that there are two parts to every soul. And two people share the same soul, so one person has half and vice versa. We call them mates. And… um, well how does that sound to you?” he asked nervously. He didn’t want to say that they were mates right off, lest he scared him away. That wouldn’t do at all!

'Sweetie' the endearment sent a pleasurable warmth into his stomach and he let himself fall easily onto Cleons lap. It didn't feel quite so awkward as he thought it would and he snuggled closer, allowing a moments hesitation to consider exactly what he thought. Of course he'd heard of the coined cliche' term 'soul mates' and he'd even thought in dept about it once.
"Well," he fiddled with a barely visible hem on Cleons robes," I haven't really.....it's just not something that comes up regularly so don't be disappointed or anything, please? I don't really believe....no I can't say that. When I was little I watched this movie with my mom. These witches cast some sort of spell to find their one and only...something like that. I was going to try it once," here he blushed guiltily," but my mom threw my flowers away. I just got to thinking: who would want me, you know?" He shrugged helplessly in hopes his response had been enough. He wanted to ask Cleon where he was from, where this wonderful place was that excepted anything and had such nice ideas, but he'd already embarassed himself.
'No...not really embarassed' He thought slowly. It was just that he was a bit shy. No one had ever payed him this much attention and he felt such a connection with Cleon it was a bit funny. But nice all the same, and he wasn't sure he wanted it to stop.

Cleon played his mate's braid thoughtfully. "Maybe your mom threw your flowers away because he didn't want you to get hurt when it didn't work. Afterall, you would have to be a real Wizard to do that, right? And I don't think it is possible to find your mate using a spell... if that were so, it would be so much easy to find our other halves!" he said, smiling.
He sighed quietly, and tilted Pheonix's chin up with his finger so they could look eachother eye to eye. "Pheonix... I know some one who would want you," he said softly, sad that the boy thought no one would. It was so sad that he would think so low of himself. "Me," he smiled. "Pheonix, you are my mate. And I am yours." He still couldn't believe this was happening, it was so amazing! He half expected to wake up back in his bed on Parinenai... but he didn't.

Pheonix stared stunned into Cleons riveting Violet eyes. He was beyond words. What do you say to that? Neverless, he tried to string a half-coherant sentence together. "I...uh....how, what do you mean? I mean....we've only known eachother for a few hours. How do you know something like that?" Pheonix felt like he was moving through water or better yet, totally detached from his body. He was on the outside, watching the flustered boy try to shiver himself out of a dream.
Half in daze he reached up to run a solitary finger across Cleons cheek, just to make sure. He could feel the sapphire haired boys hands toying with his braid, tiny tugs ever so gently waking up the nerves along his scalp. He was quite sure he would wake up any moment now, face plastered to his books as he dozed over his homework and yet, he knew this was somehow real, happening. "I don't.....wow," he let his hand fall away, covering his racing heart protectively.
