Step and Slide

[Amoris]

Amoris put away their clothes. Well...More or less just kind of stuffed them into empty dresser drawers. After a bit, he finally finished and put their baggage underneath the bed to get it out of the way.

He heard the door open behind him and turned to see Akia coming in. "Hey. Glad you didn't get lost. Were you witness to anything...indecent?" he teased, grinning.

At his mate's blush and slight 'negative' head shake, he laughed. "You heard it though, didn't you?" Akia's blush grew and he decided to take pity on the other. He moved over to the silver haired youth and wrapped his arms around him.

"Well, we can go to sleep then. Get it out of your head and all with happy dreams...We did have a long day and tomorrow's going to seem longer, you know? I bet you're tired and will need the rest," he said softly.

Akia nearly melted in Amoris' embrace. He returned it though, by wrapping his arms around the brunette's neck, giving him a quick kiss.

"That's sounds like a plan. How about you get ready first while I unpack my bags, then, I'll join you."

However Akia made no further advance. It felt so comfortable, warm, and good in Amoris's arms he didn't want to move from them.

[Amoris]

Amoris grinned and shook his head. "Not needed...Well, except for what's in your shoulder bag. I put everything else in the dresser..." His look became contemplative as he added, "Albeit not very neatly, but it is put away."

He hugged Akia tighter and pointed towards the bed. "I put some pajamas out for you. I'll go change in the bathroom..."

He let his arms slip from around his mate and placed a kiss on his head before walking over to the bed. He picked up his pair of sleep pants and handed Akia his. "Okay the?" he asked.

"Okay." Akia whispered as he watched Amoris disappear into the bathroom. The boy sighed longingly; he felt alone without Amoris' warmth around him.

Removing his bag and placing it by the door, Akia started to change his clothes to the dark blue silk pajamas Amoris had given him.

Akia shivered as he crawled like a cat into the bed and buried himself underneath the covers trying to seek warmth. It wasn't working. The night wind blew too much and was too cold. Akia closed his eyes trying to figure out a solution, then it came to him. The youth thought long and hard on the image in his mind.

There in the bed, curled up in the many covers was a young white snow leopard cub. Akia was so proud of himself, but he still didn't know how to control it. He decided to ask Amoris in the morning, and drifted off to sleep, purring unconsciously.

[Amoris]

Amoris stepped out of the bathroom, yawning. "Akia...?" he called out as he walked into the room and he didn't see the younger at first. When he did see Akia though, he smiled at the adorable sight.

"Aw...How cute," he murmured as he approached the bed. Slowly he sat down on the side, trying his best not to disturb his sleeping mate. He brought a hand over to pet fluffy leopard fur.

His smile grew at the softness of it, and so did the pride he felt at Akia's accomplishment. He did wish he could have seen it, but...Oh well.

The brunette laid down on the bed and curled up next to the little cub that was the silver haired boy he knew. "Good night, Akia," he whispered as he closed his eyes. The last thing he remembered of the night was the feel of warm fur pressed against his bare chest and the warmth of his heart in his chest from being pressed against his mate.


((The word "albeit" means the same as "although". Sorry, it's just one of those words you have a habit of saying because it just sounds so shibby. n_n; ))

*Akia's Dream*

It was so dark. More so than midnight on Earth with a new moon. Akia stood in center of it. Blue eyes looked all around him. Something wasn't right, where was Amoris? Just then voices were heard above. The youth looked up and saw row upon row of people, dressed in immaculate flowing robes and their ears were that of an elf, so much like his own. They seemed to be whispering. Akia only caught a few words, and tears started to swell up in his eyes. They were talking about him.

"What a horrible child. An outcast to our race... ...not worthy to carry the name of Wizard!"

They were judging him! But who were they? Akia had never seen them before. How could they judge him without knowing him? What crime had he done?

Suddenly, footsteps were heard ahead of him. Akia peered into the black darkness. Two young men emerged on either side of him. One was tall, like Amoris, with pale skin, shoulder-length violet hair lightly covering his radiant glowing sapphire eyes, making him looking almost dangerous. However, that feeling only intensified when Akia saw the man glance across the room and eyes with the another with beautiful innocent ruby eyes, also with pale skin and long silver/white hair flowing down past his waist.

Akia's eyes shifted back between the two males as they continued to look longingly at each other, and it finally hit him. Could these two be his parents? There were so many similarities. "But why were they apart?" He wanted to know and wanted to ask he took a step forward.

However, just as he put his foot down. The ground seemed to have opened. Akia slipped and started to fall. He looked back to see the two staring back, hands reached trying to grab him. Akia reached out too, but he was still falling, and it seemed endless.

Akia closed his eyes wishing he was back with Amoris, but he also wanted to know more about that couple. Were they really his parents? And where were they?

Akia grabbed his head, as tears poured out. So many questions floated through his mind that he couldn't think straight. Suddenly, everything went black.

Akia awoke with a start, soaked in a cold sweat. 'What was that dream about?' So many questions had driven Akia into a panic. He jumped up and off the bed, it didn't even occur to him that he was still a leopard cub. Sprinting back and forth across the room, Akia was so confused right now.

[Amoris]

Amoris woke to the feel of the bed underneath him giving way and he cracked open an eye to see a snow leopard furiously pacing across the room. It took him a minute to realize exactly who the cub was though. When he finally did, he sat up on the bed and untangled himself from the sheets to get up.

"Akia...?" he asked softly as he approached the frantic feline. His mate paid him no mind; he was too wrapped up with his thoughts. The brunette was getting worried...The younger boy was acting weird and he couldn't figure out why. He wished he could understand the noises Akia was making...

The thought quickly came to the Jshiko of exactly how to do that, and he wanted to laugh. "Of course!" he muttered to himself before shifting into a bobcat.

He jumped in front of the white cat as Akia was passing by, trying to halt the other in his tracks. 'What's wrong, Akia? he asked, pleased at how swiftly the boy froze and looked at him for the first time since he had woken up.

'Yes, it's me. I had to snap you out of it somehow and you weren't listening to my human voice, so...Tell me: What's up? We need to keep quiet though or do you think you can change back?' he asked curiously.

Akia stared at the bobcat for the longest time. Is that really you Amoris?

Akia lifted up a paw to his eyes to try stop the tears from coming forth. He didn't want to burden his mate with simple problems like a silly dream. He loved Amoris too much.

I'm sorry if worried you Amoris, I will try and change back now.

Akia closed his eyes and did the same thing as when he transformed last night. The youth concentrated on his human form as hard as he could. However when he opened his eyes again, Akia looked down at a small white furry cub body. He looked back to Amoris with a worried gaze.

I can't transform back Amoris, I guess I'll have to wait until it wears off. By the way, I'm sorry if I woke you up. I just had a dream or something. It was kind of unexpected that's all. The cub smiled a kitty grin, hoping he could get Amoris to drop the subject.

[Amoris]

Amoris swished his tail and nodded his head up and down. 'Of course i forgive you. It was no big deal in the first place, after all.' He grinned as he stretched out, favouring the feeling before sidling up next to his mate. He lightly rubbed against the other in a very cat-like way before jumping onto the bed.

'Come on up here. If you can't change, I'll stay like this the night to. Well, I'll try...I sometimes sleep-shift. Very nasty habit, I know, but...' He shrugged before curling up on the bed. 'I can't really help it, he said.

He watched as Akia jumped onto the bed and curl up next to him, smiling. He furrowed his forehead then, thinking for a bit before asking his next question. . 'You mentioned a dream? Like a nightmare?...Tell me about it, please.'

Akia began to himself purr softly and smile as he felt Amoris rub against him and again when his mate curled beside him.

Amoris was so kind, Akia just couldn't find it in his heart to keep any secrets from him. Akia sighed, All right, for some reason I just deny you anything. Now, where do I begin...

I think I had a dream about my parents Amoris. There were so many people around me, like they were judging me. All of them in immaculate robes and had elfin ears. I didn't even know who they were, and they were treating me like the lowest thing on earth. Then two other people showed up, they looked just like me, ..well one of them did except with longer hair and ruby eyes. The other had deep violet hair like my style, and glowing sapphire eyes. I wanted to ask them they were my parents. They looked like they were crying. They staring directly at me. However as soon I got closer...I blacked out and woke up.

By the time Akia was done, his blue eyes were rimmed with tears. He reached up a hand to try and clear his vision. Just then the thought hit him, Akia looked down at himself, in full human form, and thankfully still clothed too. He must have calmed down enough while talking. He looked to the bobcat, Amoris, lying next to him. The youth smiled and reached out enveloping the feline in an excited embrace.

Amoris purred and wrapped his tail around his mate before he changed as well. "I'm so proud of you!" he said happily and hugged Akia. "You're progressing pretty quickly, you know...We'll have to look in to getting you into training or something..."

He sighed and pushed that to the back of his mind when he realized he had gotten off track. "Sorry. Okay, what was I saying? Oh! Right...From what you've just said it sounds like a counsel of some kind and those people that stood next to you were probably kin, but the question is of what relation. Hmmm..."

The Jshiko narrowed his eyes and stared at the ceiling, pondering over what had been said. Dreams were always considered important things at the school. Something about the air in that specific area or the peace or something...He wasn't sure, but this dream did sound like it was something that needed to be remembered. Maybe even figured out.

He kept muttering somethings out loud, but couldn't seem to get a good lock on anything. "Elfin...Lot of people have 'elfin' ears...I have elfin ears...Jshiko? From school? No...what? Robes...Immaculate though...Purple...Looks like Akia..."

The brunette sighed when he couldn't think of much besides what had been told to him and he turned sad, mixed eyes towards his mate. "I can't figure it out. Sorry, but...At least, you feel better after talking about it...Right?" he asked with a small, hopeful grin.

Akia couldn't help but smile at Amoris' pondering aloud to himself.

He just knew those two people were his parents. But where they were? He did not know even where to begin.

Blue eyes then smiled up at Amoris, as pale hands tugged on the other's arm.

"Don't worry about it, Amoris, I'm sure if it's that important. It will come back, but for now let's just get some sleep."

Still grasping Amoris' hand close to his chest, Akia laid down his head on the pillow. Just before he closed his eyes, he stared lovingly into Amoris' warm violet gaze.

Amoris watched as Akia's blue eyes fluttered shut before leaning over and pressing a kiss to the young man's temple. He laid his head down on the pillows as well and smiled. One of his hand's reached up and gently caressed his mate's hair.

"Sleep well," he whispered to the other youth before following him into the word of dreams.

Akia felt a warm breeze sweep over his body. Blue eyes opened tiredly and was he saw was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. Amoris lay before him peacefully sleeping bathed in the warm glow of the morning light.

Akia smiled as he brushed a few strands away from Amoris' face and lightly placed a kiss on his temple. "Good Morning." Akia whispered.

Slowly, the youth untangled himself from the sheets and yawned and stretched, ridding the sleep from his body. He stood up to dress and prepare for the day. Afterward, Akia's mind still couldn't get over the dream. He went to sit on the window sill and stared longingly outward. Who were those people? Where were his birth parents? There were so many questions and no clue to the answers.

Amoris rose sometime later. He stretched out on the bed and felt around for Akia, but grasped only air. He appeared confused for a moment or two before he heard the sound of something off to the side.

He turned and saw his mate, smiling at him from the window sill. He smiled back and got up. "Mornin'," he yawned.

The silver haired boy nodded back in acknowledgment, causing the Jshiko to frown. The smaller boy seemed slightly confused by something...but what?

"A kiss for your thoughts?" he suggested.
