Step and Slide

[Amoris]

Kale laughed and smiled at Amoris, nodding. “Nice to meet you too! And Perin, hun…I wasn’t even gone that long!”That was before his mate’s words really caught up with him.

Amoris and Kale just stared at each other before slowly turning to look at Perin. “What?” they asked in perfect unison, the tones of disbelief in their voices matching perfectly as well. They looked back at each other and a small scowl covered both their faces.

The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife…

The brunette shrugged as nonchalantly as possible, letting the expression drop from his features. “Yeah…Nice to meet you too, Kale. I…need to go get Akia though. You know, he’s never been to Jeskara before and I wouldn’t just want to just leave him…He’d get so scared and depressed and lonely…And I’m sure he’s had enough of that,” he said. “I’ll be back soon, so wait here,” he added to his best friend.

Kale tried to look as normal as well and nodded. “Yes, that sounds like a good plan. I’ll go wait in the transport. See you guys in a bit,” he said, a hint of anger colouring his voice. He smiled though at his mate before getting into the pod besides them.

Poor Perin was left standing on the curb with such a confused look on his face and still more baggage surrounding his feet.

Amoris pushed through the crowds, looking for Akia. He hoped that the younger hadn’t been taken off by someone or was lost. Both instances, he knew from experience, were not fun…

He was wandering around the corridor that they had come from earlier when he saw a curled up figure with silver hair. He briskly made his way over there and sighed sadly as he saw that it was indeed Akia crying. He figured that either his kiss had messed with the other young man’s head too much or he had met Kale again. Neither were ideas he liked.

Though he would have rather kept some distance between them after…the Jshiko’s suggestion, he couldn’t leave the smaller youth on the floor in such despair. He reached down and put a hand around Akia’s slightly smaller arm to pull him up. They really didn’t need to be crushed by the herds of people bustling through the port.

He led Akia towards the exit door with heavy steps. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do. Perin was his best friend…He was happy for him, but…Kale had hurt Akia so badly in the past…Not to mention that the redhead still held the smaller boy’s heart when he himself was trying to win it.

Why did it have to be so hard…?

Akia didn't register the people around him, staring at him with peculiar looks as they passed on their way to their destination.

Now was the perfect time to transform, if he could control it. What he wouldn't give to be able to disappear and run away from everything that's happened.

Just then a strong gentle hand latched onto his arm and pulled him up, holding him for minute to regain balance. Akia thought that it was Kale, but it couldn't be. Kale hates him now, after the way the redhead treated him. Cerulean eyes looked up, their vision blurred from the tears pouring out.

Akia tried to blink away a few drops when he saw him. Amoris was by his side, walking with him, holding him. His heart began to flutter at Amoris' soft touch.

Akia reached out to throw his arms around Amoris, but hesitantly stopped thinking back to when he tried to hug Kale, and hung his head.

"I'm sorry if I made you worry Amoris."

After putting the last bag in the cargo hold of the transport, Perin finally sat down in the driver's seat. He couldn't but glance at Kale every so often. Was it anger he was sensing from his mate?

"What's matter baby? I thought you would like Amoris!" Perin said as he began to nuzzle into Kale's shoulder and played with his red hair.

[Amoris]

Amoris sighed and shook his head. "No...It's fine. I'm just glad that you're safe. I mean, you are unclaimed...Probably a really nice piece of meat for someone whose hungry enough...or for someone horny enough," he said before, coughing in embarrassment.

"...Anyways, I think we're about to go, but...There's something I need to tell you..." The brunette glanced at the silver-haired youth and sighed. "You see..."

Kale sighed and fidgeted for a bit. "Well...I...kind of do, but...but..." He paused, trying top think of the best way to put it. He couldn't help it though, and he began to rant.

"I mean, did you hear your friend's accusations?! What else was I suppose to do?! I was a boy who had never assorted with that type of thing, and then you show up...I had to leave! No, I wanted to leave! He doesn't have to blame me...And what's he doing here anyways??? I swear, I come all this way...And he still shows up! And first thing he does is hug me! UGH!"

The redhead huffed and crossed his arms, leaving Perin in the tough position of trying to figure out what was going on...again. It was just then that Amoris and Akia walked through the door; just as Amoris said, "...Kale is Perin's mate."

No...Kale is with someone else...no...that's why he left me alone...no...He really does hate me...no it can't be true! NO!

Akia could feel more tears fall down his cheeks. He barely had heard Amoris' words as when the stepped outside, his mind and eyes could focus only on Kale in front of him and the words he spoke. His body was frozen. Akia didn't know what to think anymore. Everyone whom he ever loved had left him and never came back, just abandoned him.

His body soon grew cold as he stood there, even though Amoris was holding him in his warm hold, Akia felt betrayed, he had trusted those he loved with all his heart and being. And now Kale had smashed it.

Akia didn't know what to do anymore, so he did the one thing he promised himself he would never do. He just had to get away from everyone. He had to disappear!

Akia in haste broke from Amoris hold and into a run. He didn't care where he went he just wanted to disappear from everyone's lives.

They would be much better off, even Amoris.

Perin just stared at his precious mate, head tilted slightly in a confused manner, before enveloping Kale in a protective and warm embrace.

"Don't worry about it Kale. Amoris always likes to make stuff up like that."

Really Perin didn't know what to say, but he just wanted to calm his beloved mate down. It was then, he peered over Kale's shoulder to see the white-haired boy rip free from Amoris' grasp, and run off in tears.

"Hmm...I wonder what Amoris has said this time. He must've upset his cute little mate really good. Come on, Kale. Let's see was the deal is about."

Perin squeezed Kale's hand for reassurance before getting out of the transport and hurrying over to his best friend.

[Amoris]

Amoris groaned as Akia ran off. Perfect...Just perfect. He figured he might as well give up. After all, what was the point? Akia seemed to still have 'feelings' for Kale and always seemed to forget about the brunette.

Inside him, he knew they would be perfect for each other. At least...he thought so. Perhaps he had just misread his own feelings, misread Akia's feelings, misread the situation, misread...everything. He didn't know anymore.

He sighed as Perin ran up to him, a confused and slightly upset look on his face. He raised a hand before his friend could say anything and shook his head. "I don't know what's up with him...I think it has to do with your mate, but...whatever. I guess I'll go get him," he said before crouching and springing forward.

He became a large dog and quickly ran in the direction Akia had gone in. This was getting to be too much...

Perin just rolled his eyes, oh well, and yelled out to Amoris, "I guess we'll meet you guys at home! You know the way right? Hopefully you won't get lost this time!"

He made his way back to the transport, and laughed at Kale's expression, "Don't worry about those two, the lovebirds just need a little time alone for awhile."

With that, they drove off toward home.

Akia continued to sprint throught the crowd. Tears were stinging his eyes and blinding his blue eyes. He just knew Amoris was chasing. Akia wanted so much tp turn around embrace the brunette and tell him that he loved Amoris with all his heart.

But that was impossible now, he didn't know he could love anyone anymore much less trust them. Akia peered through a blurred vision just in time to see a back alley. The boy turned down and rushed on. All he wanted was to disappear!

Akia doesn't deserve someone so caring, loving, kind...and well he doesn't have the right to be with Amoris!

[Amoris]

Amoris growled low in his throat, growing irritated with himself as he lost sight of Akia. Why was the other running from him?! It was unfair; what had he done wrong???

A snort left him as soon as the thought came to him. He was being childish. Akia had just had his heart torn out…by the…person that he loved…

No…He should be comforting the silver haired youth, not wallowing in self-pity and despair. Though he secretly knew he had a right to do any sort of wallowing. He had basically just been rejected by his mate, after all. If the circumstances had been any different, he knew that he would simply just go off like some common animal to die. Unfortunately he had to put up with life a bit longer in an attempt to be a help to Akia.

The crowds parted just enough for his body to slip through some people’s legs. He added a bit of speed, sniffing to catch that small whiff of scent that said ‘Akia was here’. He couldn’t get anything for a minute or so; all the persons surrounding him was too much for his poor doggy nose…Especially that man wearing all that Earth perfume that he passed.

The brunette almost missed the alley, but stopped when a warm blast of emotion came from within. He turned and peered down the passage. He didn’t see much, but he could hear the faint sounds of someone shuffling around. He decided to head down that way and was rewarded as the scent of the young man he was looking for intensified.

He barked loudly and sped down the rest of the way.

Still blinded by his stinging teardrops, which flowed from his eyes, Akia
didn't see the brick wall blocking his path at the end of the alley.

Slamming full body against the brick, Akia slid to the cold ground. Growling low, he punched the wall roughly with his fist.

Akia was so angry; he didn't even know why. The boy had always been so collected and calm. He could never get angry with anyone even if the other was cruel to him, Akia just took the abuse and bottled it up inside, thinking it would disappear over time.

Akia closed his eyes, and tried to forget everything that's happened, like it never happened. However, a faint vision of the handsome brunette appeared in his view. Blue eyes opened once again as more tears came forth. How could he even think about Amoris in such a special light? Not after he pushed away Amoris and ran away from him...

Amoris must hate him now...

That was a fact that Akia just couldn't live with.

The boy slowly released his fist from the poor defenseless wall, and gazed solemnly at his hand. Akia winced as he other hand began to cradle his injured one. It throbbed painfully and his knuckles were scratched and bleeding where it collided with the brick.

Then revelation hit him. That's how he could disappear. Akia looked around at the dirty debree that surrounded him, soon he caught sight of something shimmering faintly. With his good hand, he reached over to gather a shard of discarded crystalline glass.

However, just as he raised the shard to his arm, another image of Amoris flashed across his mind, and Akia froze. He couldn't do it! He didn't want to leave Amoris' side again! Akia loved Amoris too much.

"I do love you Amoris." Akia choked out, "I'm sorry..." Unknowingly, his sorrowful voice echoed through the alley.

[Amoris]

Amoris' ears twitched slightly as a voice seemed to call out to him, saying "I do love you Amoris. I'm sorry..." The words bounced around the closed-in area, as well as in his heart. He knew that voice...

He ran a bit forward until he saw Akia crouched by the back wall of the alley. He slowed his speed to a walk as he crept towards the white haired young man. A small bark slipped from his jowls and he gave a small wag of his tail as the other jumped before looking at him. He came close enough to raise his paw onto the other boy's shoulder, and then he transformed back into his natural state.

Luckily, he had been wearing his own clothes this time, so there were no naked issues to deal with. It wasn't important though as he inched his body closer and closer to Akia's. "Did, did...did you really mean that?" he whispered softly

For the first time in his life, he was actually afraid of what the answer would be. All his life, he had always been very blunt and didn't really care what anyone else would have to say about him, but...this mattered. Oh, did this matter...The brunette couldn't think of any other moment he had ever been so nervous in his life.

After all, Akia had just had his heart broken. He was...What did they call it? Oh, right. 'On the rebound'. What if the Jshiko was just someone the smaller youth could latch onto in an attempt to find some love and comfort? He knew that Akia wouldn't do that though...The kind, gentle young man would never do that.

At least, consciously. Was it too fast though? Was he taking advantage of Akia's broken state? Was he delusional? Was he just being paranoid?

Akia startled by the sudden bark behind him, turned swiftly to see a large brown dog staring directly into his blue eyes. Akia cried even more for he just knew it was Amoris. The dog put his paw on Akia's shoulder and the white-haired youth felt his heart flutter with warmth.

His heart was filled even more as he saw the dog transform, and Amoris was kneeling right in front of him, and Akia faintly heard his question.

Tears came from cerulean eyes once again, but something was different. They were not of cold sadness and loneliness but the warm feeling one got when one was in love. Before he knew it, Akia launched his body forward, arms wrapping around Amoris' neck. Akia, with tears of love pouring from blue eyes, began to rant.

"I'm sorry Amoris! I'm sorry I didn't realize it sooner. I should have told you everything. I just didn't know how you would react to such a ridiculous statement! I don't care about Kale anymore! I don't care if you hate me now and forever, but I don't know what I would do if I weren't by your side! At least I am able to tell you how I truly feel in my heart. I love you Amoris! Since the first time I saw you on the street back on Earth! I love you!"

Amoris froze in surprise as Akia flung his body at him and started to sob. He didn't stay stationary long though as he quickly wrapped his arms around the silver haired youth's torso. "Shhhh...," he said trying to sooth the other's obviously frayed nerves.

When the words being said hit him, he couldn't help the smile that crossed his face. He placed a kiss on top of Akia's head in his joy before replying with a happy laugh in his voice. "No...I could never hate you. I'll always forgive you." He dropped his tone to a whisper as he asked, "Wanna know why...?"

At the other young man's slight nod, his smile shown brightly. "Because you're my mate!" He realized that he never explained, so he decided to do so then. Carefully, he turned their bodies and leaned up against the wall, pulling Akia into his lap.

"Mates are...soulmates. They're who you belong to; the other half of yourself. They're very hard to find, so it's a miracle I found you. I mean, there are several different planets to look for your mate at and then the millions of people and races on each one. In the case that you can't find your mate, you'll just remain single or get a mistress or man-whore or will just settle for someone that you 'love'...," he said, pausing to see if the smaller boy was understanding him. Akia nodded for him to go on, so he did.

"If you were to find your mate after that though, you'll leave whoever you're companions with to go be with your mate. You can try to deny it, can try to ignore it, can try to hate them...but it will just hurt you in the end. You need them and their love and their care and their...Well, everything about them you'll crave. Destined to be with them, two halves of a soul, the connecting pieces in a jigsaw puzzle, the two sides of a magnet, and all those other little ways that people explain it...It's true."

He shrugged as the end of his speech and hugged Akia tighter. "And that's what we are...It's that feeling of belonging, of longing, and of love," he said, chuckling.

Akia knew Amoris was right. It was just something in his heart that drew him to Amoris.

And even right now, though they were sitting in a dark alleyway on the cold ground. Akia felt like he was home and the happiest he's ever been, because he was in the Amoris' arms sitting on his lap. In fact, his cheeks turned a slight tinge of pink, as Akia could feel something slightly hard arouse from under him.

Akia ignored it for the time, and relaxed his head against Amoris' shoulder. After a moment, he pulled back to stare into the violet eyes he fell in love with, and whispered under his breath. He didn't want Amoris to hear him, that would be embarrassing.

"Amoris may I...may I kiss you?"

Amoris did hear Akia's request though and took it upon himself by answering with a kiss. The kiss began as very chaste, but grew with passion as each moment passed. Toungues twined together, lips melded, and their arms circled the other in an attempt to be even closer.

When they needed to breathe, the brunette pulled back and rested his head on the silver haired young man's shoulder. "Happy?" he asked, moving his hands to clasp Akia's.

He stopped the when the other gasped. He quickly pulled back his hand and was jarred from his happy state when a shiney red liquid came away. "Blood?!" he asked, startled.

He pulled up Akia's arm and turned over his hand. The skin was swollen and bleeding. He quickly looked up at Akia's face before looking back down at the appendage. "What happened?!"

Akia rested his head back against Amoris' shoulder. He felt like he was cloud nine after such a wonderful kiss. No one had ever been that passionate with him before; not even Kale.

Akia felt Amoris grasp on to his hand. Akia squeezed it tighter, thinking he might lose Amoris, and couldn't bear to let that happen.

Suddenly, pain shot through his body and Akia winced. Amoris had latched onto his injured hand, the one he had rammed into the brick and almost cut himself with the shard, which unknowingly was still in his other hand.

Tears began to flow again, "I didn't know what to do Amoris. I didn't know if you would love me, after I ran away from you and everything that's happened with Kale...I was angry with myself..."

Akia pointed to the wall next to Amoris' head, where his fist had made contact.

Amoris looked between Akia and the wall with a small frown on his face. He held the hand close to his chest and placed a small kiss on it. "Don't do that again...Please," he said as he reached into one of his coat pockets with his free hand.

When he withdrew it, he pulled out a thin packet too. The brunette ripped it open and took out a small straw-like object. He broke the top and pressed the tip of Akia's knuckles, carefully applying the clear blue liquid that seeped out.

"If you get angry or scared next time...don't run off or try to hurt yourself, okay? I'd prefer you'd talk about it, but...there are other ways as well."

He finished putting on the medicine and took out a small gauze bandage to wrap around the smaller hand within his own. "There." He placed another kiss on the hand before patting it lightly. "It's okay."
