Hocus sighed and smiled gently at his brother before flopping back down on the bed. He rolled onto his side, so he could better see Kai...But then...Then he got lost for a second in deep purple eyes.
They seemed to swallow him up. Actually, they were moving closer...and closer...Oh, no! That was him. Suddenly, he was jolted from his trance-like state and chuckled nervously at Kai. "So, why don't we go down and get breakfast, hm?"

Words seemed to cease to exist for that one moment. That one moment where Hocus had the oddest expression on his face. It almost seemed like he was losing himself in something, but he was staring into Kai's dark eyes. Then he leaned in closer, until their faces were inches apart. The younger boy wanted to ask him what he was doing, and why he was doing it, but his voice would not work for him.
Something inside him stirred, telling him to close the space between the two of them before long. The red-head fought with himself in those few brief seconds, wondering why these thoughts were even going through his head. Then Hoax jolted back with a nervous chuckle. Kai felt disappointed, though he was not sure what exactly it was that he had been expected.
The Zercan nodded, blushing lightly. "Y-yeah," he murmured. "Let's go."
He jumped off the bed, careful not to bump into his adoptive brother- or fall on his face. There was a reason he slept on the bottom. Kai rubbed his eyes, yawning widely as the two boys headed downstairs. They could hear some one walking around in the kitchen, and he guessed it would be Abra and Kad. It was still very early. When they walked through the doorway he found out that he was, of course, correct.
"Good morning," he greeted, smiling at his adoptive parents.

At the sound of one of their children's voices, Kad turned with a smile. "Hello, kids!" he greeted happily, walking over to hug each of them. "We're having waffles for breakfast this morning," he said, turning back to the oven.
Sitting at the table, Abra looked up from his newspaper to nod at the boys. "Good morning. Sit down, sit down," he greeted, motioning for the two to take a chair. "Oh, and Kai...You got a letter this morning." He passed the envelope sitting next to him over to the redhead.
"Ah. Morning, Mom...Dad," Hocus greeted as he pulled out a chair for his adopted brother before leaning over the other's shoulder. "So, who's it from, eh, Kai?"

Kai sat in the chair offered to him happily as he gave the envelope a curious look. His eyes widened and he grinned when he saw the return address. "It's from Yuki!" he exclaimed. The red-head tore open the envelope quickly as he read through the letter.
The teen squealed. "They're moving back to Zerca and...," he paused. "...Today!" he exclaimed suddenly. "They're moving back today and he's visiting at noon!" he said excitedly, bouncing in his seat. "Mom, Dad? Can I go out with him later too?" he asked hopefully.

Hocus tilted his head to the side and smiled. "That's nice. You've talked a little about him, but not too much. I know you still write, but...You'll have to invite him over so we can meet!" he exclaimed as he took his own seat.
Next to him, Abra nodded. "Yes, that would be nice," the older male said as he adjusted the wizard hat placed at an angle on his head. "I do want you to take one of the communicators though. And tell us where exactly you're planning to go with him."
Kad chuckled as he returned to the table with a plate of waffles. "And have fun," he added with a roll of his eyes as he leaned over to kiss his mate's head. "Well, now I'm going to go get Pocus up. Eat up." The brunette man smiled at his family before heading up the stairs.

Kai laughed lightly as his adoptive parents spoke. He placed the letter and envelope to the side so he could begin eating his waffles. They were really good. He loved Kad's waffles. He loved any food made by the lifebearer, actually.
"You can meet Yuki when he comes over at noon, silly!" he said teasingly to his brother. "But I'm sure we will be hanging out a lot for awhile now that he's moving back!" It had been a few years since he last saw his silver haired friend, so he was wicked excited to see him. They had so much to catch up on! You could only say so much in letters.
"And I'll bring a communicator if you promise not to call every five minutes," the redhead promised Abra, smiling humously.

Abra nodded with a grin. "Of course, of course. My...It seems like it was just the other day you two were always hanging around the house, just relying on each other," he said before pausing. "Actually, it was the other day." He laughed and shook his head at the glare his son threw at him.
"Well, yes...But, when I said meet, I meant he should come for dinner," Hocus said, moving his eyes from his livegiver to Kai. "You should invite him."

Kai was blushing lightly at Abra's comment, but still laughed lightly. It was amusing how things could change so suddenly. He nibbled on some of his waffles as his brother spoke. "I will," he said, nodding happily. "Ooh!" he sighed. "I'm too excited to eeat!" Even so, the teen continued eating his breakfast.
The redhead bounced in his seat excitedly. "I haven't seen Yuki in so long!"

Hocus chuckled and ruffled up Kai's hair in amusement. "And I'm excited to meet someone who makes our shy little redhead so bouncy," he said, grinning. But deep down, a small worm of jealousy was beginning to make itself known inside him...
----
Later that day, after everyone had eaten and gotten ready for the day, the family was sitting in the living room while waitng for their guests to arrive. "So, how much longer do you think we'll have to wait?" Hoax asked his adopted brother after a bit.
"Oh, calm down, darling," Kad said, rolling his eyes at his son. "They'll be here, when they're here. Though I have to admit, I'm curious about this Yuki as well. I forgot to ask, but are his parents coming too?"

Kai shook his head in the negative slowly, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Yuki didn't say anything about them in his letter," the boy answered. "Knowing Yuki though, he probably left them to do the unpacking," he laughed lightly.
Now that his friend would be arriving any moment now, the redhead was starting to get nervous. Sure, the two of them spoke through letters, but what if his friend decided he did not like him anymore in person? Or, what if they could not think of anything to talk about and they were left sitting around in silence? For hours and hours...?
Before the Zercan could worry any longer there was a knock on the door. "I'll get it!" he said and jumped up to hurry for the door. He stopped at the door a moment, straightening out his black pants and green and yellow polka-dot shirt. Even now he had no idea how to dress 'appropriately'.
An older boy was revealed as the door swung open. His silver hair was tied up in a fancy looking ponytail and a few bands fell along the sides of his face. You could tell the teen's hair was long. He wore slim black jeans, and a see-through t-shirt with a tiger's face printed on it. Underneath he wore a black longsleeved shirt. Lots of thick bracelets and necklaces decorated the boy's frame.
"Yuki!" Kai said excitedly, all nervousness flying out the window as he tackled the other boy.
Yuki laughed amusedly, keeping his ground his he wrapped his own arms around his friend. "Hiya, Kai," he said happily. "It's been so long!" he sighed. He squeezed Kai once last time before they stepped apart.
The redhead caught the other's eyes wandering down his frame, then an amused expression appeared on his face. Yuki shook his head, but before Kai could ask about it, the silver haired boy spoke up. "So are you going to introduce me to your, ah, family?" he asked.
"Oh course!" he said. He grabbed the other's wrist and dragged him into the living room. "This is Abra...," Yuki glanced at the wizard hat, "Kad...," his eyes trailed down the man's ribbon decorated robes, "Hocus...," the teen's eyes paused briefly on the other's tophat, "and Pocus...," the boy smiled lightly at the kid's gesture outfit.
Kai pointed to each person in turn as he spoke. "Ab moved out recently, but I can introduce you to him later.... And this is Yuki!" he grinned. Yuki smiled at them each politely when the introductions finished.
"Well, it's nice to finally meet you all," he said politely. He wrapped his arms around Kai lightly. "Kai here has only said good things about you."

Hocus was at first eager to meet the other, but as the introductions progressed, he grew less...excited. Actually once Yuki wrapped his arms around Kai, it was like something snapped inside him. That was his Kai to put his arms around! The other boy didn't even deserve to touch the redhead! After a moment though, he shook his head and realized how irrational he was being...
"Well, that's good!" Kad said after a moment, smiling. "We've heard only good about you too. I'm glad that Kai has had someone to talk to outside the family."
Abra nodded energetically and laughed at himself when he had to readjust his hat. "Yes. The boy doesn't get out as much as he should." He paused to smile at his adopted son's blush before continuing. "So, I hope you and he have fun out today. Just remember to check in every couple hours...No, every hour...Every thirty minutes maybe?"
"Every couple hours," the lifebearer besides him said with an exasperated sigh. "And then you two may come back for dinner. I'll make whatever you want."

Yuki chuckled at Abra's teasing, and mostly because of the blush it caused his friend. Even though he did not let it show, the silver haired boy had seen Hocus' jealous look. It confused him slightly, but made him curious as well.
Kai was oblivious to the other teens' feelings. "Dad!" he complained quietly, pouting when Abra told them to check in every half hour. He was happy when Abra spoke up, giving them a vaguer time set. "Would you like that, Yuki?"
"Sure. I mean, I'll have to check in with my parents, but I don't think they'll have a problem with me staying," the other teen shrugged.
The redhead smiled happily. "Good! So... did you want to go out now or...?"
"Why don't you show me around the house first? Or at least your room," he said. He poked his friend's side, making him giggle. "It looks like you still need somebody to lay out your clothes for you, silly."
Kai blushed lightly and laughed sheepishly. "You've always been good at choosing outfits," he said. The silver haired boy smiled. His hand came up to pat the other's head playfully. "So, um, I guess we'll go upstairs now," he said, still blushing as he dragged Yuki away by the wrist.
Yuki grinned, waving back at the others. "Nice meeting you!"

Abra and Kad nodded happily. "Yes, it was nice to meet you too," they called after the pair. Yuki seemed like such a nice boy. They were glad he had returned to Zerca and could now han out with Kai. The boy was still so reclusive around other people!
Hocus, on the other hand, did not like the boy. When the two were in the living room, he had started to stand and was getting ready to offer help showing off their room, but before he could...Yuki and Kai were already up the stairs. Yuki was so...so..."Ugh!"
Kad turned his head at that and looked at his son. "Ugh? What's 'ugh'?" he asked, though his eyes gleamed knowingly even as he asked.
"...Nothing, Mom..."

When they walked into his room, Yuki had acted slightly interested. He commented on the bunkbeds, saying they seemed little-kiddish. Kai said he liked them and his friend had only shrugged, and said his room was interesting. The redhead knew the other teen was more interested in his wardrobe so showed him the closet.
"You certainly have an assortment of clothes...."
"This is my side, and that's Hoax's."
"Hoax?"
"Oh, that's Hocus' nickname," Kai said with a fond smile.
"Oh.... This shirt would go better with those pants." Yuki held up a black shirt with silver and dark purple stars decorating it. "And it would go even better with these jeans. Here, try it on."
The younger blushed lightly. "Um, can you turn around?"
"Are you seriously that shy, Kai?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "We used to undress in front of eachother all the time."
"We aren't children anymore...."
Yuki sighed with an amused roll of the eyes, but did as he was requested. When he was allowed to turned around again he was much more impressed than before. The jeans hugged the other's hips, instead of hanging off his body losely; and the shirt was nicer than polka-dots--in Yuki's opinion.
"Love it," he grinned.
Kai was blushing lightly as he was inspected. "It's nice. Is my hair okay?" he asked, fingering his looks locks.
"Mmhm, it's nice down," Yuki murmured. "Do you want to go out for lunch now?" The redhead nodded.
They headed downstairs and found Abra and Kad in the living room. "Is it okay if we go out to lunch now? And then maybe go window shopping or such?" Kai asked his adoptive parents hopefully. He glanced around curiously as well, but did not see his tophat wearing brother anywhere.

Abra turned and smiled at his adoptive son when he heard the other arrive. "Of course," he said congenially. "Better yet. Why don't you go actual shopping instead?" He reached for his wallet.
"Yes, if you want to spend time with your friend, It's perfectly fine with us!" Kad agreed. "You don't get out much. Besides, what fun is it to eat and then come straight home?"
Holding out some money to Kai, the lifegiver smiled. "Just report back on the comm, so we know you are still alive somewhere on this planet." He then noticed the look around the room and had to hide the smirk his smile turned into. "Ah. Hocus headed out already. He was feeling a bit...confined, staying in the house."
