"Shhhhhh..." Sunny soothed as gentle as a breeze. He couldn't let her flounce about at this vital juncture. He stroked her tense neck and sides as he held her down.
"It's okay girl," he whispered softly as he pet her. "I'm not going anywhere and neither is that baby."
Sunny Stoneworthy was what you would call a Gamba Whisperer. He had the odd undeniable talent of being able to understand what a gamba was thinking or feeling at any given point. And right now, he was guiding a new mom into her very first birthing right.
"Okay Breezy, when you are ready do what comes natural." he encouraged soft yet pushy.
Two hours later, a filthy yet joyful Sunny practically skipped into his silent house. He was covered in hay, sweat, dirt, and some goo most zercans wouldn't even look at. It not Sunny, he lived for this. He lived to make the gambas happy.
Proud of his accomplishments, Sunny stripped down bare and hopped into his nice clean shower. After this, he thought happily, he would take a much needed and well earned nap.

Koban sighed boredly and kept his eyes on the clock ahead of him. He had been in a meeting for about 3 hours now, biting his lip and fidgeting boredly. 'Just a couple more minuets,' he thought, 'Just a few more...' It was 11:52, almost midnight, almost time for this meeting to end. Almost time for him to go. "M-Mr. Hanworth?" a small voice came from next to him, breaking him out of his thoughts. He looked to see his secretary, looking nervous as usual, "S-sir?" he asked meekly. Koban rolled his eyes and looked at the poor boy, "What is it Sarella?" he asked irritatedly. Sarella flinched under Koban's glare, "T-the me-eeting is being cut short, everyone is tired", the boy said, waiting for Koban to yell at him. Koban stared for a minuet before saying quickly, "Yes, yes. Thats fine, we'll just pick up in the morning." he then got up, grabbed his coat, and walked briskly out of the meeting room, leaving everyone stunned by his hastiness. Koban was already now in his room, throwing his suite case on the floor and stripping out of his fancy suit and polished shoes. Where he was going, he shouldnt be dressed like that. He pulled on some worn trousers, a stained and baggy white long sleeved shirt, and some old and beat leather shoes, finishing the outfit with a dark cloak to hide his face. Koban then slipped out his room and out of the building. He was heading to the secluded ranch the Gambas were held at. /flash back/ A young man walks into the ranch, behind him, is his little son, no older then 5, clinging to his mothers leg. "Com'on Koby, dont be shy, I know they'll love you." /end of flash back/ Koban smiled nostalgically as he opened the door, revealing many Gambas sleeping in their pens. Koban closed the door behind him and climbed over the pen, where some of the gamba were sleeping, other younger gambas were playing, running around with each other. Koban smiled and sat down in a corner of the area, where a little stool sat, just where he remembered it. /flash back/ The young man was sitting on a stool, many little gambas played at his feet. His son was curled up in his lap, looking down curiously. "Do you want to play with them koban?" he asked sweetly, stroking little kobans cheek as he smiled at him sweetly. The little boy looked nervous and shy, shrugging." the young man laughed, his voice always so sweet and gentle. "Oh honey, dont be shy, they love to play with people, just be gentle." He picked up his tiny son and placed him by his feet, causing the gambas to stop their playing. They stared at the tiny boy, not sure what to do, they were only familiar with the young mans presence. Koban looked up at his mother and got a nod of approval. He stuck his arms out palms up for the gambas to sniff. They slowly approached, sniffing curiosly. One came up and put its nose against little kobans hand, smelling it for a while before licking his hand. The tiny boy began giggling happily, hid mother also smiling at him. "See baby, you've got the gift too." "just like mommy!" /end of flashback/
Koban smiled and laughed softly, sitting on the ground now with a bunch of gamba sitting around him, making happy little noises of recognition.

Sunny woke up late in the evening. The hot summer sun had just bid it's last daily farewell. Sunny stretched lazily while thinking about the newest member of his gamba brood. He smiled proudly about his last great accomplishment. The little foal looked sooo cute all in spots.
Sunny subconsciously shimmied into a perfectly fitted set of overalls and dashed out the door with no shirt on under it. He just had to check up on the new mom and baby and set up a midnight feeding for all of his other maternal mares. Every single gamba was like a gift of life to him. Sunny had not only the ability to understand them, they also seemed to be his very soul.
Silently, Sunny rustled up a bucket full of special oats. He joyfully swung it by his side as he leaned against a painted wood railing. "Breezy?" he called in a singsong tone. "Lemme see your little baby boo?"
Slowly, Breezy sauntered out of the comfort of her hay filled stall tailed by a speckled clone. She boldly walked straight up to her friend and mentally smiled as she dove head first into the full bucket of fresh oats.
Sunny patted her head lovingly. "You did a good job today Momma." he whispered in the taller animal's flicking ear. "Your baby is adorable." sunny then leaned down to the foal's level and smiled, "You are just one of the cutest little things I have ever seen."

Koban woke up exhausted the next day, he was still in those clothes he had on last night, all sweaty and covered in hay. He'd stayed out way too late last night. He was only supposed to stay at the ranch for only a few hours, but he couldn't help but reminisce in his memories. He forced himself to sit up, rubbing his tired eyes as he tried to fully awake. He still had that meeting to go to this morning and he was already running behind. 'There goes breakfast...' he thought bitterly, yawning and stretching as he stood up. He threw his clothes off and hopped in the shower, washing up faster than he ever had before. 20 minuets later, everyone was waiting in the meeting room, looking at their watches as they waited for Koban, who ran into the room as if on que. "Alright, let the meeting begin." He panted, sitting in his seat and pushing his hair back, "Take it up from where it ended last night." One of the men stood up and cleared his throat, "Mister Hanworth, we believe that the Gambas...aren't progressing fast enough." Koban looked shocked, "What?! What do you mean?!" Another stood and spoke, "Sir, there's only one boy down there working with them. There aren't enough people to train all of those gambas." Koban looked at them skeptically, "And? What are you getting at? Hire more workers? We can't just hire anybody! They have to have-" "The gift, we know Sir, you speak of it many times." Koban sighed, "The gambas won't just trust anyone. They need to be able to sense everything the gambas need, even without the gambas making it obvious. They have to be kind and trustworthy, someone the gambas will want to work with, or else they'll just get scared....." "We know sir, and that why we were thinking," one of the men started, putting a hand on kobans shoulder, "That you should go work with them." Koban blinked, going pale and unsure what to do, "Wh-what?! Me? I can't possibly-" "Of course you can! Your mother was one of the greatest gamba whisperes of all time! And he taught you everything he knew!" Another man pointed out, "and, if I do remember correctly, weren't you originally going to take your mothers place?" The room went silent and Koban flinched narrowing his eyes, that was his original plan. He loved working with the gambas, it was fun and he felt natural at it. He thought he would be just like his mother when he grew up, but after the accident, he had to take his fathers place as head of the company, he just couldn't let someone else take it, not after how hard his father worked to get this company to where it was. But now, he had the chance to do both, so why not. "Sure...I guess it'd make my mom proud, "He stood up and walked slowly twards the door, "but don't make this too public!" "great sir! Well let the other boy there know you'll be there tomorrow!"

Sunny loved his alone time with the gentle racing gambas. The next day, he spent 14 wonderful hours brushing, bathing, feeding, and training gambas. This was the life. Nothing could ever be better than this.
8pm that evening, sunny was just sitting down to a nuked bowl of noodles when there was an unexpected knock on his door. With an irritated sigh, he mumbled as he stood, "You had better be important or I will tie to to the gamba walker."
A clean cut boy in a 4 piece suit smiled professionally up at him, "Yeah, you might say that I am." He jutted his hand out quickly to Sunny. "My name is Jay and I have some good news for you."
Sunny looked at the hand but didn't touch it. "So..."
Jay continued to smile although it was more forced. "Soooo, you get help Sunny. We found a man with nearly the same talents as you. He starts tomorrow."
Sunny frowned deeply. "I don't want nor need help. Thank you for your offer but I decline." And with that, hd closed the door and went back to his meal.
Jay yelled through the door, "Its not an option. Expect him at 9am sharp!"
Sunny spoke not a word as he moped over his now cold noodles.
Why couldn' they just leave him alone?

It was only 8:30, and Koban was already fidgeting, mentally preparing for his new job. He already had on plain working clothes he kept for when he went to the ranch, except for the cloak. His hair wasn't as neatly combed back and his dark fringe of usually kept back hair was over the left side of his face. His emotions were mixtures of aggravation and anxiety, aggravation coming from the fact that he couldn't believe that he, the richest man in the city, was stooping so low by doing hard labor. Anxiety however, came from the constant question blowing through his mind, "What if I'm not good enough?" and "what if I'm not as good as my mother? What if I fail him?". He shook his head at all the feelings and decided to head down to the ranch, since it would take him time to get there. He wondered what the other boy working there was like? Were they nice? Are they better than moth- he decided not to finish that question. By the time he got to the ranch, it was time for work and he opened the door, poking his head inside, "hello? I'm here to start w-working." he said, his voice wavering at the last word.
