Eri had spent all day writing and cleaning their three bedroom home. His days normally went like that peppered with his daily chores such as getting groceries, baby things and visiting his own family as well as his mate's family. His nights were spent talking to his mate then dreaming about him. He missed having him near, every day, and the thing that hurt the most was there was no known time that his mate would be back. He touched his stomach rubbing the slight bump, liking that he was having his mates child, but hating not being about to be with his mate. He understood why his mate wanted to protect their planet, and he was very proud of him. Though being proud of him did not ease the ache he felt from being apart of his mate.
Now he was sitting on his bed tapping his AI as he waited for his mate to come on. Nero was ten minutes late, and he was never late unless he was hurt. Eri was frightened that something had happened to his mate, something bad, but he was trying not to worry. "Nero where are you?" he asked softly. "Why are you late. What happened to you." He watched the screen wishing he had another way to contact his mate other than just waiting. He could not contact his mate till the AI was on, and since it was not he just had to wait. He bit his lip in nervousness planning to give it another ten minutes before calling the base information desk, to demand to find out what happened to his mate.

As soon as Nero had got back from patrol he’d headed straight to the showers. He was the first one in and quickly cleaned himself of any sweat and dirt. He was already late, they had come across a few Prasidion ships and it had taken them longer than expected to defeat them. Once he thought he was clean enough he grabbed a towel and quickly dried himself off and changed into a pair of loose fitting trousers and a tight black top.
One of the men noticed he was in a hurry “You can relax a little, Nero. Do you have to be somewhere?”
A man who’d known Nero longer laughed “Of course he does. He’s got his little Eri to go see.” It was common knowledge that every night without fail, Nero would spend time speaking to his mate.
Nero quickly dried his hair but decided to leave it damp and grinned at his friend “I do, now if you excuse me I have to leave, I don’t want Eri to start worrying about me.” He left the showers and headed back to crews quarters off the ship. He was the only one back in his room and straight away he headed for his AI.
He set it up straight away and waited for it to connect with Eri’s. His leg kept twitching as he waited, anxious to see his mate again even though they speak regularly. It just wasn’t the same though, he wanted to see is mate not just through a screen, be able to hold him. He sighed, but he had to serve Zerca. Here, he was protecting his mate and child.
His grin grew when finally the AI connected and Eri appeared on the screen. Nero felt his heart swell as he took in his mates delicate features “Hey Beautiful.”

Eri breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his mate a smile coming to his face. "Nero," he breathed reaching to touch the screen. "I was worried...what happened? Are you hurt?" He tried to look him over but through the screen he could not tell if anything was wrong. "You were late today." He let his worry leak into his voice, he could not help it, he usually tried to hide it but lately he could not.

Nero’s gaze softened as Eri gave him the smile he loved so much. He reached out placing his hand over Eri’s on the screen, oh how he longed to touch the real thing. Nero chuckled at his mates worries.
“I know and I’m sorry, I won’t be late again. We just had a few surprises on patrol but nothing we can’t handle.” He stood from his chair and spun in front of the screen before sitting down again grinning at his mate “See, I’m fine. You know me, would I let myself get hurt?” He continued before Eri could answer that “Anyway, I should be asking you that, how are you feeling?”

Eri touched his stomach sighing, "Morning sickness started but other than that I'm all right," he promised watching his mate. "The doctor said its normal, and that the baby is healthy. I...I miss you Nero. Do you know when you can come home?" He wished they could know, but they wouldn't know till a month before he could come home. Eri squeaked a bit when the screen seemed to be lifted and a new face appeared. "Eri!" the newcomer called. "You never talk to me...its all about Nero...mate or not I should come first...I'm the best friend."
It was Xan, Eri's best friend and the reason Nero and Eri had met. He had seen Nero talking to his mate and snagged the AI, he was teasing of course, but he still liked to talk to Eri. "Hows the baby? And...Kora..." His face went soft when he talked about the other bearer, his mate, whom he missed so much just like Nero missed Eri. "Your looking after him right?"
Eri smiled at Xan, he was always so hyper, "Yes of course I'm looking after him, you should go call him. We went shopping today for baby things...double baby things..."
Xan's eyes went wide, "You having twins?" he asked stupidly not even thinking his mate could be pregnant even though he had seen him a few weeks ago on leave.

Nero leant forward, resting his elbow on the table and his head in his palm as he listened to his mate talk. He couldn’t stop grinning at the small bump showing under his mate’s clothes. Soon they’d have their first child to spoil and treasure. His smile dropped slightly as Eri continued speaking “I miss you too, so much. I still don’t know when I can come home yet but I’ll-” Nero was cut off when he was pushed out of the way of the screen and Xan quickly snatched it away so Nero couldn’t get it.
Nero hadn’t even heard the other come in. He laughed as Xan teased Eri and relaxed in his chair letting the two friends speak instead of taking the screen back. He looked around the room to see some of the other men coming back from the showers, they just chuckled at Xan’s usually excitableness and left the two to talk to Eri.
He turned back to Xan when the other mentioned his mate, Kora. Xan had just been on leave a while ago and it was hard for him to be away from Kora. Eri had told Nero Kora was pregnant and it seemed Xan still hadn’t caught on yet.
Instead of letting Eri tell him, Nero nudged Xan with his foot and held his hand out “You’ve had enough time, I want to talk to my Eri. And no we’re not having twins…at least I don’t think so.” He took the screen and set it up on the desk again “You’d tell me if we were having twins right?” He teased.

Xan pouted as the screen was taken from him, he did like to talk to Eri. "Then why did he say double baby things?" he demanded, still confused and not knowing what they meant. He waited for an answer and stood when Eri yelled, "Go call Kora and leave Nero in peace!" He shook his head, eyes rolling as he headed for the door, "Fine fine I'll go call my mate. Its about time to anyway." He may have been pretending to not want to talk to his mate, but the smile on his face and the look in his eyes said otherwise. He hurried to his bunk to turn on his Ai waiting for it to connect to Kora, needing to see him. He beamed when the AI connected but frowned when he did not see his mate. "Kora?" he called. "Kora where are you?"

Eri grinned when Xan left and Nero came back on the screen, he did like talking to him. He touched the screen again before blowing him a kiss, "Xan just got leave...aren't you next? I need you. I've missed you so much...I just really want to see you..." he asked softly. "And...I can't believe Kora's pregnant. We went to the doctor today to get it confirmed and he just started crying, he misses Xan I can tell. Its hard on him."

Nero smiled softly as Xan rushed to his bunk, anxious to talk to Kora. You wouldn’t believe that he’d only been home a few weeks ago. He turned back to the screen glad that they had some sort of privacy again “I want to come home too but we’re just going to have to wait. It’s hard now but it’ll be worth it in the end. I promise.” He glanced over his shoulder to see if Xan was listening, when he was sure the other wasn’t he spoke quietly.
“Xan’s trying not to show it but it’s affecting him too, he really misses Kora. And the Baby’s just going to make it harder for him, I know it does for me.”

Kora was sat at the kitchen table across from his bearer. A pile of used tissues was building up next to him as he finally controlled his emotions. He just finished telling his bearer the news that he’d just confirmed today. A warm hand gently took his own and he looked up to the smiling face of his bearer.
“Kora, Why are you so upset? To anyone else this would be great news.” His voice was motherly, as he tried to find out why his son was crying.
Kora took a deep breath as he tried to sort out his feelings “It is, and I am so happy about it. I’m carrying Xan’s baby, nothing could be better, it’s just…” Kora’s bearer waited patiently for him to carry on “I don’t know how I’ll cope with him away. Eri’s stronger than me and can deal with it but…I mean I don’t know what will happen to him and-” Kora’s voice caught in his throat at the thought.
Before his bearer could say anything the AI from the other room beeped twice, letting them know it was connected to someone. Kora jumped at the sound and looked to his bearer for support. He spoke straight away, as if he knew what Kora was thinking “Just tell him, he needs to know.”
Kora knew his bearer was right, he took a deep breath and quickly cleaned his face of tears and headed to the other room. "Kora where are you?" He heard Xan’s voice and sat down at the desk and, despite the worry he’d been feeling before, he couldn’t stop the smile that appeared from seeing Xan’s face.
“Sorry, sorry, I’m here.” His voice was a little rough but he hoped Xan couldn’t notice “I was just with my bearer. Ah, How are you? You’re not hurt are you?” Kora couldn’t help but worry, it was in his nature.

Eri winced when he heard that it was hard on his mate with the baby. He closed his eyes trying not to cry, he knew he had to stay strong for the other. He cried a lot when he wasn't talking to his mate, but he wanted his mate to see that he supported him. He opened his eyes slowly once he was sure the emotion was quelled and reached to touch the screen again. "Yeah I know...but I support what you are doing, I know its important." He looked to his eyes conveying his love and support through the screen. "Just save the world and come home...I'll wait for you."

Xan's eyes lit up when he saw his mate, his posture easing as he watched him. "Kora," he breathed happy his smile growing every second that he stared at him. He noticed something was wrong though, he might not notice many underlying thought in speech, but he did notice body language. Of course it helped that he knew his mate well, even though they were apart more often then not. "Kora, sweetheart. Somethings wrong what is it?"

Nero felt a painful tug in his chest, like something was gripping his heart. More than anything he wanted to be with Eri. It was clear that the distance was hurting both of them but Nero also knew Eri was strong “It can’t be long till I get my leave. Just wait a bit longer.” Someone would come to relieve them and the crew should be able to go home until they’re next duty. Nero just wanted it to be soon “I promise I’ll be back for the baby.”

Kora tensed and began tugging at his sleeves. Of course Xan was going to realise something wasn’t right, even though he knew this Kora forced a smile “What do you mean? Everything’s fi-” Kora paused as he saw his bearer in the doorway giving him a look. Kora bit his lip, a nervous habit of his, and glanced down at his lap, how was he supposed to tell him? “A-Actually Xan, I need to tell you something.” His voice was quiet. Kora looked near tears as he tried to get his next words out. “I’m…I’m pregnant…” His heart hammered in his chest as he waited for Xan to say something.

Eri smiled weakly to his words, not wanting to get his hopes up. "I'll hold you to that," he told him softly. "I went to your house today," he told him softly trying to get his mind off the painfulness of not seeing his mate. "The twins have started walking, at the same time of course, they seem to do everything together." His smile was a bit wider now as he talked about the twins, "And Kora seems to enjoy spending time with them, he will make a great bearer."

Xan saw those tears and his heart stopped, frightened that his mate was hurt, or dying. He had never expected those words to be spoken from his mates mouth, they were careful, most of the time, how could this happen? He wanted Kora to have his baby, but not while he was still on duty for who knew how much longer. "Your...pregnant..." he whispered letting it sink in, he would be happy about this, for his mate, and he really did want it after all. After a few moments he smiled wide and stood up, "Kora's pregnant!" he screamed happy. "Were having a baby!" He looked back to his mate, "Twins?" he asked hopefully, he had always wanted a big family. He was hyper now, his emotions changed easy usually to happiness, especially when he talked to his mate. He touched the screen then moved to kiss it, "Mmm...I love you...a baby..."

Nero perked up when Eri talked about the twins “Really? That’s amazing! They’re growing up really fast.” When he’d left they’d been so small but now…He was really missing a lot. The twin, Leto and Cam, where Nero’s younger brothers, no=one had expected them but they just added to the happiness of their family. “I know, and so will you” Eri would be a perfect mother to their child “How is everyone?”
Before Eri could answer Xan’s shout cut him off “Kora's pregnant!" Nero jumped and spun round to see his friend practically clinging to the screen. Nero turned back to Eri, grinning knowingly at him “I guess, Kora told him.”

To Kora it seemed like ages before Xan said anything. His mind ran through the worst case scenarios and he could feel his nerves build up. He jumped and quickly looked up to the screen when Xan shouted in happiness. Kora just stared at the screen as Xan asked him questions, he couldn’t believe it. Tears escaped from his eyes but this time they were happy tears. He wiped them away and beamed at Xan, he let out a laugh. “I don’t know yet, I went to the doctors today to confirm that I am pregnant but it’s too early to tell if it’s twins.” He placed one hand over his relatively flat stomach and the other one the screen. “I love you too” He sniffed unable to stop the tears, he wasn’t usually like this but he just felt so emotional today.

Eri smiled as he watched his mate listening to every word from his mouth and wishing they would be together. He giggled as he heard Xan's shout. "Yeah he told him." He moved to lay on his bed touching his stomach. "Nero...can you get some privacy?" he breathed. He wanted to play with him over the AI as they sometimes did. They were apart for so long that sometimes they needed to get some release. He knew he was changing the subject but he needed his mate, he really did.

Xan watched those tears fall and wished to wipe them, he wanted to hold his mate, he missed them so much. "This is my last tour of duty. I put in the request today. They said I can become a commander like my giver. We can live on base, I won't ever have to leave you again. We just have to wait till someone comes to cover the unit...and I could stay with you." He was whispering not wanting the others to hear him, he had not told anyone else about his request. "Don't tell Eri...cause I have not told Nero...please."

Nero raised a brow at his little mates suggestion and smirked “Hold on, I’ll see if I can get some.” He knew exactly what Eri wanted. Most of them men where congratulating Xan or just relaxing so they didn’t notice Nero leave with his AI. There was a spare room that all the crew left free, sometimes they just wanted privacy. Time to just think things through or whatever. No-one was there when Nero reached it. He entered and locked the door behind him before sitting on the bed.

Kora couldn’t stop smiling; he couldn’t believe what Xan was telling him. This was what he’d wanted for ages. Xan would be able to stay with him here, they wouldn’t have to be separated for who knows how long anymore. Kora shook his head “I won’t tell anyone. You know I won’t” Kora’s bearer just smiled at his son and left back to the kitchen giving the two privacy. “Do you know when you’ll be back? I know you’ve just left but I don’t like being away from you.” Kora flushed as he told Xan exactly how he felt. He couldn’t help it when he was with the other, he couldn’t keep his feelings hidden.

Eri smiled happy as he set the ai on the wall so Nero could see all of him. "Your alone?" he asked hopefully as he waited. "Because...I've missed you...and I've wanted you sooo bad..." He was giving his mate his best bedroom eyes, hoping he would understand what he wanted.

Xan was happy that his mate was happy, "I have no clue when I can come home again," he told him softly. "It might be a while. We do not know when the next unit comes. I'm sorry, I miss you so much, even though we just saw each other. I know how you feel, I ache from being apart from you..." He flushed a bit and looked away, "Sorry I'm acting like a bearer..."
