Mary walked back into the room. "Liam," She addressed the Zercan sitting at her dinner table. "Thank you for the great gift." She then looked Liam up and down while standing only a couple feet in front of him. She looked impatient like she was waiting for something.
Finally after a few seconds of uncomfortable silence, she whispered, "It is customary on Earth to hug the giver of a gift when you recieve it. So sir, please stand up?"

Liam flushed and stood hoping Zee did not hear that. "Y...your welcome..."

Mary gave Liam a warming hug. She really did love the angel. But she was also careful to pull away after only a second. She knew from what her brother had told her a long long time ago. Women were not accepted on Zerca and thus Liam wouldn't be comfortable with the hug.
Mary went back to her seat. "Did Zee tell you why I like Angels Liam?"

Liam sat quickly next to his mate, glad she pulled away so quickly, "No, he didn't. Would you tell me?" he asked softly.

Mary took a huge forkfull of the Pork and chewed heartily. After she swallowed, she smiled, "Eat Eat Eat...I'll tell you the story."
Once she saw Zee start eating, she began, "A long long time ago, about a week before Zee was born, my brother came back to visit us. He brought with him his mate Java and his mate's brother Forall. Forall was the Zee's Mom/Dad guy."
Mary totally concentrated on the story now. Her chubby face was turning red and her eyes were beginning to water.
"We had a great week." She continued deep in thought. "John, Joseph, Java, Forall and I went all over this island sightseeing. I Loved seeing my brother again. And even Forall, who had been almost comatose because of his mate passing away was starting to react to some of the things we saw and did."
Mary then fell silent. Her face lost all the cheeriness it once had and her eyes were now full of tears.
Finally after a huge swallow and a few seconds of silence, she coninued, "The day before they were all supposed to leave, except John, I insisted that we go to a cute restaurant on the opposite shore." She cried. "It was my fault."
Zee stayed as silent as a mouse. He had never really heard the story before. He knew his Aunt Mary hated to tell it.
"On the way there," Mary continued in a chocked voice. "We were playing I Spy. No one was watching the road." She sobbed loudly. "No one saw the road veer off. By the time my world came to a stop, I was upside down with water and glass in my eyes and I couldn't feel my right side. I cried and yelled for Joe or John to answer. I even yelled for Java and Forall. The only one that made a noise was Forall and he was just moaning."
Mary hugged herself to stop trembling.
"I looked over to Forall and cringed. He was sliced down the side and was bleeding really bad. But what really freaked me out was the wet furry thing hanging half out. I couldn't see very well, my eyes were still full of junk. But that, that was his baby." Mary paused in her story as if catching a breath. "Then Forall did something that I have never forgotten to this very minute. He reached into the cut and pulled the baby out."
Mary cringed as she said that. Her face contorting as she continued.
"He then put the baby on my lap. MY LAP. I remember looking down at the silent kitten and then up at Forall. And Forall had this look of desperation on his face. I remember picking it up and it took it's first breath. It's eyes opening up and looking at me. I couldn't help but cuddle it. And as I did, Forall did the grossest thing ever. He bit off the umbilical cord. He then petted the kitten's head and said, 'Zyzzyx'."
Zee swallowed a huge lump in his throat. This was the first time he had heard this story in it's entirety. And now he just found out his Aunt wasn't really his Aunt.
"To keep the baby warm and also hide it for the cops and paramedics, I slipped him under my shirt. I turned to Forall to tell him that Zyzzyx would be okay and the Zercan was leaning over in his seat belt his green eyes rolled back in his head." Mary cried softly. "I then realized that I was alone. No one in the car but me and the baby was alive. I cuddled him closer and promised from then on to protect him and raise him as my own. And by golly I did."
She then looked over at Liam solemnly. "Every time I see an angel now, I think of John, Joseph, and the rest of them. Since that angel came from you, I'm thinking that that one represents Forall. He would be proud to meet you I bet."

Liam reached for his mates hand as Mary told the story trying to give him comfort. He was surprised at the story, surprised Zee was not really related to Mary. He looked to her knowing that this was why she did not want to let Zee go. "Oh..." he whispered at her last words. "You...you really think that?"

Zee was holding back his reaction. But not very well. He too was red faced and his eyes were shining with unshed tears. And when Liam slipped his hand iin his, Zee clung to it like a lifeline.
He was so choked up, he diidn't know what to say or do.
"Yeah," Mary agreed with a nod after she used her napkin to whipe her eyes.
"Forall sent you to be with him. And I can't hate you or stop you now. But please, just don't take Zee away from me and leave me alone" She spoke up a few seconds later.

Liam moved to wrap a comforting arm around Zee. He nodded to Mary, "We just want to travel..." he admitted softly. "But we won't leave the planet...I promise. And you can travel with us if you like..."

Zee leaned a little bit into the hug. It felt nice. And he needed it too.
Mary gave Liam a shocked look. "I would never." She waved her hands. "No, you two need to travel together without a thrid wheel. Anyway, you guys aren't leaving tomorrow are you?" She joked hoping it was the truth. She and Zee needed some time to adjust to Liam in their own ways.

Zee grinned over at Liam. "Ohhh Yeah, We're Going! You will love the view from up there. And bring a sweater. Even the shelter collects ice on a good day." He chuckled.
"Hey Zee, finish you dinner first." Mary chuckled before she dove back into hers.

Zee grinned widely. He couldn't wait to show Liam the views from the volcano peak. It was a magnificent view! He was almost too excited as he squirmed in his seat.
Quickly, he swallowed his dinner. "Lemme show you around Liam. You need to see where you're sleeping and stuff."
Mary gave Zee a concerned look. She had seen this pattern before. This was the way he had been with his quote/unquote mate before they left. She really really hoped that Liam told her the truth. That they were staying here.
"Then Liam," Zee continued. "You can tell me what the heck is a Zerca."

Liam are slowly then stood to let Zee show him around. "Zerca?" he asked softly. "If I told you, you wouldn't believe me..." He was just scared Zee would learn of it then leave him.
