Krisser averted his gaze to the passing scenery. Yura coughed loudly and looked down at his lap, hands clentching the seat. Gin and I looked at each other before laughing nervously. Gin decided he'd speak, "Well... You see... It isn't really important how we got the money... Just... Uh..."
"Just that we're here." Krisser muttered.

I knew something was up, judging from the nervous feelings coming over from my mate. I stopped the car and turned to face my mate and his friends.
"What. Did. You. Do?" I asked, enunciating each word.

My eyes narrowed at him, my teeth gritting as I growled, "It doesn't matter..."
Gin looked to me nervously, his eyes holding a slight fear in them, "Serafin... You're not feeling well."
A strong dislike swelled in my chest. Towards what? Everything. The way my mate had just spoken. The fear in Gin's eyes. The way Krisser was slowly slipping out of the Jeep. The way Yura hugged his knees to his chest, closing his eyes tightly and waiting for me to simply become a monster.

My body began shaking. Gin was frantically searching his pockets for one of those awful pills. I rubbed at my scars as I tried to keep a livid look off my face. I gritted out shakily, "It doesn't MATTER."
A almost crying Yura was suddenly lifted out of the Jeep by Krisser. The redhead flinched when I growled at him. Gin suddenly turned my attention to him, a pill in his hand, "T-take it... Before you hurt someone again..."
"I don't need that!" The shaking was getting worse.
Gin pressed the pill to my lips, "Please, S-serafin... Chew on it so it will kick in faster..."
I bit his hand instead. He yelped and tried to get his hand away. I let him go after tasting something metallic. Blood...
Yura whined and made Krisser put him down only to hide behind him. Gin moved away from me, holding his hand to his chest.

I was beyond pissed. He had just bitten his own friend, and obviously was not stable. I needed to get Krisser, Yura, and Gin away, so I jumped out of the car and growled at Serafin. He climbed out and stalked towards me.
"Yura! Krisser! Take the Jeep and get Gin to a hospital. That bite needs to be taken care of! I'll deal with Serafin!" I yelled at them as I turned and ran into the jungle, Serafin close behind.

All rational thoughts were gone. I was soon at his heels only for him to gain a few yards distance because of a tree. My body was suddenly changing, and I was soon crashing after him in my dragon form. A roar rose from me. How DARE he run from me!

I screamed and ran even faster, but it was pointless. Serafin pounced and had me pinned beneath one of his claws.
"Sera! It's me, Maaku, your mate! Please calm down and see sense!"

I bared my teeth at him, my eyes nearly glowing in my anger. A sharp pain hit my side, throwing me away from Maaku and into several trees. I looked to my attacker, seeing Krisser's dragon form. His brilliant red scales shined in the light of the still setting sun, making them darker. I roared at him. He returned it.

I jumped up, and ran away, tears flowing down my cheeks. My own mate had tried to kill me!

Krisser suddenly seemed transparent. I backed away, knowing what he was about to do. I turned to run, but he ghosted through me. My eyes widened, my mind now my nightmare. I slowly shrunk back down to my human form, screams tearing through me as I clutched my head. Krisser soon joined me in human form, his eyes cold, "Sorry I had to do that to you..."
I blacked out from the terror filling me and awoke the next day to my friends sitting beside my bed. I slowly sat up, looking to them. Gin put a pill in the palm of my hand. A depressed sigh left me after I took it, "I'm... Gods... I'm so sorry..." I closed my eyes tight. I hated being like that.
"You were going to kill him, ya know." Krisser stated.
"Gin?" I questioned, confused. I don't remember wanting to kill anyone...
"No. Maaku..." Yura spoke softly, eyes not meeting mine.
Pain filled me. I...I hurt him? Depression settled further. Oh...Gods... I looked down at the sheets, shock beginning to fill me. I could've killed him...without a second thought... I wondered if he was okay and panic rose in me. "I-is he okay?! Where is he?!"
Krisser glared at me, "I don't believe it's any of your concern anymore. Gin had warned him that he wasn't going to like you in that state, but he insisted on you not taking the medicine. If he couldn't take you on in that form, he's too vunerable and shouldn't be with you."
I broke down at hearing that. I was horrible... A horrible mate... A horrible friend.... A horrible person.
Yura's arms wrapped around me, and his fingers combed through my hair. His soft hushes trying to comfort me.

I had gone to the summit of Haleakala, to my secret cave. There, I asked for guidance from the gods and my ancestors. Soon, a woman entered the cave. It was my mother.
"Mom!" I exclaimed. She had been dead for years.
"Maaku... What ails you?"
"M-my mate tried to kill me in a blind rage."
"My son... You just have to learn to forgive him. Everyone has their flaws. Serafin is very sorry and wants your forgiveness. He feels horrible and needs you now more than ever."
I jumped up and raced past her down towards their ship. I soon arrived and banged on the hull, calling out Sera's name.

I jumped at the banging but hearing my mate's voice had me flinching slightly. I hurt him...! I looked back down as Yura's arms tightened. Krisser let Maaku in but kept him from getting too close to me.
"He could still be unstable... He just took a pill." Krisser's voice said softly.
Gin smiled slightly, "Sorry about all of that happening... I'm sure it wasn't something you really wanted to go through..."
Yura kept humming a soft lullaby to me.

"I don't give a shit if he's unstable! Everyone has their flaws, no one is perfect. But Llearning to overcome our flaws is how we grow up." I gently pulled Yura off my mate, and took his place, wrapping my arms around Serafin.
"Shh. I forgive you Sera. What you did was nothing compared to what some have done."
