Locke leaned against a wall that was behind the snack table and well enough away from the mulling crowd. The turn out tonight was huge. Everyone from both packs conversed and generally mingled about. And they were all talking and one thing. Mating. Specifically between him and some little brat who's name he couldn't pronounce.
He'd be against this from the start, but his father wanted their two packs to be united. And what Locke's father wanted, Locke's father got. The blond bared his teeth at the thought. Glowing green eyes searching the crowd for his "mate" in the hopes that he could pummel the little creep or something.

Dia smiled as he got out of his brothers car, he really did like a party. Tonight he wore tight jeans with a black button up and a red t-shirt underneath. He looked around not knowing that he was meant to be mated with Locke, not yet anyway.
"Hey Runt..." called one of the older boys in his pack as he walked up to him. "Did you hear? The other pack wants to unite with us..."
Dia smiled, "Oh thats nice, the more the marrier."
The boy shook his head, "They want you to mate with Locke."
Dia's face fell, he knew Locke, he wasn't nice, "Mate with Locke?"

The sudden appearance of his father did not bode well, and Locke glared at the man. "What?"
"Watch your tone young man." Jean growled. "Your future mate is here. You will come and greet him and you will smile and like it." Before Locke could even think to protest, his father was all be dragging him across the room to where Dia and his brother were entering.
"It's good to see you all made it safely." Jean smiled. "I hope you and your brother are well, Dia?" Locke just stood there and glared at Dia, flashing white teeth when his father wasn't looking.

Dia looked up when Jean and Locke were suddenly in front of them. He said nothing just bit his cheek to keep from frowning, he did not want this. His brother, Alaric nodded then smiled, "Yes, it is nice to see you. I have heard the news and hope our two packs will come to peace."
Dia frowned at that then shook his head, "We can join but I will not be with him," he muttered then left them not caring if it was rude."
Alaric watched him go then sighed as he looked back to Jean, "I am sorry for my brothers rudeness, he is just a little stubborn."

Jean glared at Locke, popping his son upside the head. "Go apologize. It's fine Alaric." The Alpha smiled once his own stubborn pup had lumbered away. "Locke wasn't exactly inviting. Please, come and have a drink."
Locke stalked off but had no intention of finding Dia. Stupid kid. And stupid him for going through with this.

Dia was in the middle of a group dancing with a random male. They were really close, and he was flirting with him, not caring who saw. He had a drink in his hand planning on getting drunk that night.

Locke had been tossing back a few as well. Enough until he was feeling the buzz and that seeing Dia dancing with some strange male pissed him off. With a growl he pushed through the throng and shoved the offending male out of the way so he could take his place and grind in behind Dia.

Dia felt the switch and looked back to him angry. "You have no right..." he muttered. "I'm not yours nor will I ever be." He pulled away from him looking for another partner.

"Oh. It is mind right." Locke growled, snagging Dia's arm to keep the boy from leaving. "Didn't you know that? Mate of mine?"

Dia glared at him trying to get out from his grip. "Let me go!" he ordered. "I'm not your mate, I won't be." He grew angry when the other male would not let go, hating the warmth that spread through him at his touch. He growled before turning and hit him hard right across the jaw hoping he would let go at that.

"Shit!" Locke yelped, reeling backwards long enough for Dia to escape. He grunted, popping out his jaw. That had surprisingly been a nice left hook. Locke left Dia alone for now as he headed back to his own friends, but vowed to get the little snot back.

Dia went home after that angry at Locke, and his brother, and his pack, well both packs. It wouldn't be till the next evening he saw Locke again when his brother dragged him over to Lockes house to say sorry for hitting him.

Locke, of course, was not pleased and sat at the table as his mother led Dia in for an apology. He didn't make it easy either, simply glowering at the pup.

Dia glared back at him as he was forced into a chair next to him. "You shouldn't have grabbed me..." he muttered refusing to say sorry. "I am not your property..."

"And you shouldn't have punched me." Locke quipped. "I'm not your punching bag."
