((Niko and Brendan))
“Brendan Jukar!”
Brendan almost winced at his bearer’s voice as he heard it behind him but couldn’t help the smile that came over his face when he turned to see the man on the vid screen he had thought he’d ignored. Feeling a little warmth seep back into his heart at the sight of the man who had loved him so much he couldn’t stand it, Brendan stepped closer to the screen. “Bearer.”
“Yeah, yeah don’t be giving me that warm tone. I know you meant to ignore the call and that’s why I saw your back.”
“Sorry?”
“You should be,” Tripp sniffed. Still quite adorable despite being double his son’s age of 23. “I might just tell your Giver and watch him growl at you for fun. What do you think of that?”
Brendan just shrugged, much like he would have as a teen and smiled. “Nice to see you too, bearer. Did you need something?”
That seemed to remind Tripp what he had called for as the man’s face frowned. “I will have you know that as your bearer I DO NOT appreciate riding the transport down town and seeing pictures of you in your damned underwear! I could deal with shirtless but this underwear business is too much, Bren.”
“I got paid like seven million credits to lay around in my underwear. Do you really expect me to turn that down?”
“Yes, damn it. I’m not the only one who sees those ads, Brendan,” Tripp’s voice came out stiff, a rare occurrence.
“You’re the only one I care about,” Brendan’s own voice got hard. “Everyone else has other people to look at, don’t they?” There was a sneer now as he remembered coming home years ago to find out that when he would have retrieved his mate the man had a bloody damned boyfriend.
“That shouldn’t even matter to you. You two are-”
“If that’s all you called for, I’ve got work to do.” He snapped and instantly felt like an ass. “I’m sorry bearer,” he sighed and walked closer to the screen. “I’ll be in Mentsiquar in two weeks. I was going to keep it a surprise for you and Giver and just show up but there, now you know.”
Tripp sighed, but smiled, “I wish… never mind. I love you, Bren Bren. Can’t wait to see you.” Blowing a kiss to his son, he faded from the vid screen.
Brendan sat down a moment thinking over everything and everyone that was on Mentsiquar and wished not for the first time he didn’t have to go. Some wounds never healed.

Niko sat at the counter in his flat, head in his hands. There went that damn hole again. That void in his heart carved in a fuckin Brendan shape. The bloody bastard.
He downed his third or forth Syanba beer and headed back to the couch, where several of his friends sat, watching some sports game or another. It didn't really appeal to him.
"What's wrong, babe?" asked Arin, his "boyfriend". They never hung around for more than a couple months or so, because Niko refused to sleep with any of them. Arin, though, didn't seem to mind, and they were currently working on month number three.
Niko shrugged, leaning against the male."Nothing, just a little drunk, I guess." he said, as Arin swept some hair from his eyes. "Alright, just don't drink too much more, kay?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure." he said, taking another swig.

“Halftime! Gentleman we have a grand surprise for you this evening! One of Mentsiquarian’s own son’s freshly back from an inter-planetary tour and here today to treat you with a half time show like no other!” The announcer faded from the screen and showed Brendan as he waved to the fans, his band behind him starting up one of recent popular hits he'd written years ago for….
Finishing up the song, Brendan waved to the crowd and went to go backstage only to be stopped by the reporter.
“Brendan Jukar. Stars, trillions across the galaxy can’t seem to say your name without someone screaming! Especially since your latest campaign with Rimo athletics! Those billboards and centerfolds have retailers sold out.”
Brendan just nodded, waiting for the man to finish his rambling so he could get out of here and go home. He missed his bearer, giver, brother, and… Sigh. Pushing those thoughts from his head, he waited for the man to breathe and actually answer a question.
“But I think what the world wants to know right now is who Brendan Jukar is seeing. I know you’ve had a lot of Scrijx City Heartthrobs on your tail lately and a few Sensaforian heirs as well. Who are you dating right now? The world wants to know!”
Brendan shook his head and stared at the camera, “Sorry boys, I seem to have a penchant for being single.”
“But why?”
Shaking his head, Brendan waved to the fans who roars then the camera before ignoring the questions and heading back stage.
“Well, there you have it folks,” the reporter tried to recover, “Brendan Jukar may be a sex symbol to the worlds, but that boy is a hand off player in our relationship games. Back to the game!”

Niko watched the show for all of a minute and a half before he felt sick. "I'm going to bed." he said, kissing Arin's cheek before heading to his room and locking the door. He flopped on the bed, trying to drown out the sound of his mate's voice.

Tripp squealed when his son entered their home and ran to hug him like he was about to disappear. “I can’t believe you’re actually here!” He kissed his face before stepping back and looking him over before sniffling and hugging him again.
Brendan smiled and hugged his bearer back. He may be indifferent most of the world, but when it came to his family… “I missed you guys.”

Grey lumbered out from the back, on his way to work. He smiled at Brendan. "Hey there brat." he greeted, rubbing the boy's head.
~*~**~*~
Niko swayed onstage, leaning into the mic as the music created a spell over the club.
As he sang, the crowd danced on the floor. Niko swayed with them, leaning down on his hands and knees as he entranced them, Arin watching with a smile.

Brendan grinned up at his dad and felt like a kid all over again. "Where's Darren?" He asked, looking for his younger, bearer brother.

"He's out, gone to the club. I'm heading over there now, if you want to join me?" Grey asked, with a shrug.

Brendan lost his smile a moment and shook his head. He knew who worked at the club now and he wasn't ready for that. Didn't know if he'd ever be ready to see the man with someone else.
Tripp tugged his eldest away from the door. "That's okay, Bren, we'll stay in and gorge on Earth pizza and nachos. Grey, you sure you don't want to stay in with us, tonight?"

"Ryou's at the other location and Dar's ate the bar by himself. I'm going to go check on him." Grey said, with a small smile.
*~*~*~*~*~
Niko finished his set and got offstage, talking to a few people here and there, before Arin came to wrap an arm around his shoulders. Niko pretended like he wasn't slightly uncomfortable with the contact.

"Fine," Tripp sighed an rose on his tiptoes to kiss his mate before dragging his eldest to the kitchen.
----
Dare Jukar watched his brother's mate with annoyance. He knew the basic particulars and while he wasn't on his brothers side, niether was he on Niko's and it annoyed him that the man flaunted about a boyfriend. Waiting until Niko was about to pass, Dare said to a nearby friend quite loudly, "Yeah, Bren is home right now. Just arrived." His hope was to get a rise out of the man and he would be sure to do something similar to his brother later.
Dare's friend, a bearer name Benai, leaned over and whispered in his ear, "You should really axe the matchmaking routine. You suck at it."

Niko heard the little brat and only glanced at him before ignoring the quip all together. It had nothing to do with him. Brendan made that clear years ago.
Grey entered the club and scanned the place. He frowned a little when he saw the Damned Boy wrapped around Niko. He hated the kid, something about him was...off. And Niko was his son's mate. While he wasn't happy with Brendan for the situation, he was even more angry at Niko. The two just needed to suck it up. He was sick of his sons(for he considered Niko one of his own as well) being miserable.

"Alright, Bren, What shall we have? I think-"
"I think dad is still disappointed in me," Brendan said, feeling a little awkward. Plus he did kind of feel hurt that the night he came home everyone had to go out. Sure, their lives shouldn't stop for him but... this was his family.
Tripp was silent a long moment. "I don't know about that. But we shouldn't dwell on the past and things that happened. You know you made the wrong decision-"
"I came back to correct it but he already had-"
"Just like we all make bad decisions," Tripp continued. "You just have to let it ride or do something about it."

Niko drank himself half blind again, and headed home, making Arin leave him alone for tonight. He draped himself across the seat of the transport and slurred out his address...or what he thought was his address. He ended up outside of Tripp's house, already asleep in the backseat as the transport beeped.

Tripp blinked as the A.I. informed them that the transport had arrived. "Probably your brother home and too drunk to walk... again."
Brendan grinned and shook his head, "I'll get him." Heading downstairs, he went to the transport and his heart seized at who he saw lain over the seat obviously drunk and passed out. His first reaction was to just leave the man, of whom had matured wonderfully since he last saw him, right there. But he couldn't. hesitantly, he picked the man up into his arms bridal style and feel his heart begin to pound. He quickly rushed back up to the house.
"Is he sober enough to... Oh," Tripp said as he saw who was in his son's arms.
Brendan didn't know what to say much less do. "What am I supposed to do with him?" His voice was low and raw like he was hearting just holding the man.
"Just put him on the sofa or-"
"He is not sleeping on the damned couch," he grouched before moving past his bearer to his room. Laying the male atop his bed, he pulled his shoes off and tucked the covers around him before heading back out to the living room.
Tripp wasn't sure what to say so he stood there biting his lip.
Brendan ran a hand through his hair, "I have to get out of here."
