A knock sounded at Rykan's door and he stood, walking over to the door and opening it. He was assaulted by Ferren's scent and presence, and immediately felt calm. "Hello, Ferren. Is there anything the matter?" he asked, smiling.
The boy no longer smelled like him, and while it upset his beast, Rykan could see the logic in Ferren changing into his own clothing.
"You've changed clothing," he observed, turning to take Siren off of his arm and place him on the bed. He could feel Ferren's confusion at how he knew and chuckled. "You don't smell like me anymore," he said.

Ferren was confused as to how Rykan knew he had changed. Hearing his explanation certainly cleared things up. "Oh," he spoke, giving a sort of nervous smile. Even if the other male couldn't see it.
"Well, I only wanted to check on you." He felt a bit...out of sorts for coming to bother the other, even if he felt it was for a relatively good reason. "And, ask how your arm is doing." He took a moment to look at it, before he looked back up at Rykan.
"Is there really nothing I can help you with?" He recalled his mother asking earlier, but now he wanted to offer. Feeling he should do something. Well, actually he felt he wanted a reason to linger about with him, just for a bit. He couldn't bring himself to say he wanted to talk or spend time with him, so he just felt he had to have a reason.

Rykan seemed to read Ferren's feelings and smiled, sitting on his bed, patting the spot next to him.
"I don't need anything but a friend right now," he smiled at the boy as he took out his flute, putting it together. "How about I teach you a few more scales? I want you to be an expert before I leave Jeskara, you've got natural talent." Rykan said, holding out the instrument to the still nervous boy.

Ferren was surprised to see how Rykan seemed to welcome him to sit beside him. Was he serious? He couldn't think to find a reason as to why he wouldn't, not with how he smiled.
Of course, Ferren moved forward to sit beside Rykan, briefly setting the clothes, he meant to wash, before returning them, down once he was seated. "I would love it if you could." He did appreciate the thought, but then he recalled something. "How would you do that with your arm though." His other arm was injured. Didn't he need to rest. "I don't want you to do anything that would hurt it." Perhaps there was something else he could do.
The compliment, what sounded like a compliment, would have caused him to blush if he wasn't concerned about the other. He wished he could have done something to keep him from getting hurt earlier. But he had been quite helpless. The memory caused him to frown, still making him wish he could have done something more.

Rykan smiled at the boy, "I'll be alright. Do you remember your scales? Play them for me," he said, turning to sit behind Ferren again, back in the same position as in the forest. He used his good arm to postion the boy's fingers, allowing his splinted lower arm to sit on his knee.
After Ferren had played his bit, Rykan instructed him how to play the E flat and C sharp scales. He even showed him second octave.
"Your doing very well. Now, when you change notes, tongue the notes. You do that by briefly stopping the note with your tongue, making a clipped sound." he said smiling.

Ferren hoped Rykan would be alright. He didn't think to argue with him. He simply gave a slight nod towards what he heard him say. Moving to play, as he noted the other had moved back into the familiar position they had been in earlier.
It seemed he still recalled how to play, that was good, and now he knew how to play even more. He really was happy about that, that and in general, that he liked being near Rykan. Something he still couldn't understand. Other then what he recalled Siren saying. But he didn't think about that now.
Hearing the new instructions he was given, he followed them. Smiling a bit himself, or managing as much of a smile as he could now.
For a moment, Ferren moved to part his lips, from the flute he was playing, to speak. "Thank you, for taking the time to teach me." He couldn't help but feel grateful.
Downstairs, Calim thought to keep his mother occupied. Without a doubt, he noted he was worried. He hated to see his mother worry. If he didn't have a relatively good idea of what was going on, he would have give his older brother a stern talking to. Whether or not he had gotten laid by that cool Rykan guy.
Although, considering what he noted, he didn't suppose his brother had been intimate with that guy. Just to be sure though, he'd keep a close eye on them. If not just to make sure that his mother didn't stumble across them. If they wee doing what he was sure he hinted towards earlier.

"No problem, you are a fast learner." he smiled as he continued to teach him.
After Ferren had done what was asked, he then told him how to play the rest of the lullaby, calling out the notes slowly.
"Now try to play the lullaby by yourself," he said smiling, the closeness to the other man easing him. "He felt Feren tense up in doubt and smiled slightly. "You can do it, just relax. You know the notes in your mind, now focus on the sound." he said smoothly.

Ferren was happy to know he was good at something. Learning quickly, at least this much. Something he found meaning quite a bit to him.
Was Rykan serious? How could he expect him to play. He would surely fumble and make a mistake. The last thing he wanted to do was embarrass himself. But somehow, he couldn't help but feel at some ease with how Rykan spoke. He supposed he could try.
Still feelign ab it nervous, Ferren started to play. He played the song, recalling the notes, managing not to mess up so far.
By the time he actually played through the whole song, one he found himself quite fond of, he found he hadn't made a mistake. And here he feared he would mess it up. Once Rykan was gone, he would have to look into seeing if he could get an instrument like that of his own. If only to remind him of Rykan. He knew he would have to leave eventually.

Rykan smiled as Ferren played. He loved that tune, and made a mental note to write a song for Ferren later.
"You did perfectly," he smiled against Ferren's shoulder. "It was easy, no?" he asked.
"Now, play your scales." he instructed.
Ferren began, but they were interrupted as there was a gasp from the door. Rykan looked up, feeling Calim's presence in the doorway, and he waved him in.
"Come on in, Calim." he smiled benevolently, not moving from his close position to Ferren,

Ferren couldn't help the smile that seemed to linger on his lips. He couldn't recall ever having a reason to smile so much. At least, not around someone he barely knew.
Was it easy? He supposed, when one learned it. He heard the mention of practicing his scales and was about to do so. But then he found they had an unexpected visitor. Well, maybe not unexpected.
It seemed only shortly, after hearing Rykan speak, he saw his brother indeed had come in. He hadn't noted it at first, but his current position did nothing to discourage his brothers earlier thoughts. Even if he only had a flute in his hand. His brother had some very...interesting, if not unique thoughts sometimes.
"Is something wrong Calim?" The question came from Ferren, as he watched his brother.
There was a brief moment of silence from Calim. It seemed obvious, he was noting how his brother was with the man he brought him. "I don't suppose you two were just playing music." He spoke as if, hinting towards something more.
"Are you sure you two just met today?" It was just really odd for Calim to see his brother with someone he just met. In fact, he didn't expect to see his brother bringing anyone home period. Didn't Zercans turn into cats or something, not small ones either. This guy, this Rykan fellow, was definitely someone he didn't picture his brother with.

Rykan laughed. "You remind me so much of my own brother. Unfortunatly, I will have to crush your hopes and again reply no, we were not being intimate. I have indeed only met Ferren today, and I've been teaching him to play the flute. He's quite good." he said shaking his head.
Rykan nearly never smiled at home, yet it seemed like he was always smiling and laughing here amongst these Jshikos. It was a strange feeling.

Ferren couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed with is brothers constant assumptions. Whatever made him think that. It was a relief that Rykan didn't seem to react badly at least.
"Calim." He spoke his brothers name, hoping he wouldn't linger on the subject. "Like Rykan said, this was all we were doing." Hopefully he would believe that.
Calim looked over Rykan and then his brother. He supposed he had no choice but to believe. Although, it still didn't look that way to him. "Whatever you say, I guess I can't say it entirely looks otherwise." Entirely, being that he saw the two were so close, but there was a flute.
"So, what made you want to teach my brother the flute?" His brother didn't strike him as a person who played an instrument.
"Hey, I don't suppose you have a thing for my brother, do you?" If this guy wasn't just a friendly person, then it seemed he was bit too close to his brother. Not that he seemed like a bad man. But he wouldn't be surprised if the guy was trying to take advantage of his brother. Possibly trying to get into his pants. It wasn't like his brother was bad to look at.
In Calim's personal opinion, his brother may be a bit naive, when considering relationships. "I don't recall my brother ever being in a relationship though, so he may not go about things, but I'm sure everything will work out just fine." Now, he wasn't exactly clear on what he was saying. But one could note, he didn't say to keep away from his brother. He might as well have said good luck.
"You'd definitely be the first to get into his pants." He spoke, giving a slight nod of his head, as he considered it.
"Calim." Ferren was more so embarrassed now then before, sternly saying his brothers name. How could he say all that. He knew his face was bright with a noticeable blush.

Rykan had the decency to blush. This boy never gave up.
"Well...your brother expressed an interest in the intrument, and I decided to teach him to play for thanks in keeping me company...Being this close is the only way I can show him." Rykan answered the first question, as for the second, he wasn't entirely sure what to make of it.
"As for your second question, no. I am not trying to 'get into his pants' as you call it. I don't take advantage of people. In any such activities I have engaged in, both parties were entirely willing and aware." Rykan said, hoping his last statement would shut the kid up. He seemed fixated on the idea of he and Ferren having a physical relationship. Not that Rykan would mind it...

Ferren couldn't help but glare a bit at his younger brother. If only due to his recent words. It was yet another relief to hear that Rykan didn't seem to take offense. He seemed to take his brothers words well enough.
Calim didn't look like he believed what was said. Well, he could believe the first part. "That would make sense." He referred to the instrument. "Since, that's all you seem to be doing. Surely, you won't mind if I watch." He positioned himself against the wall, leaning a bit against it.
Calim couldn't help but find there did seemed to be truth in Rykan's words. At least, he didn't look like a liar. "I'll accept that for now." He thought to say, considering that no one here had to tell him the truth. He supposed it was just that hard to believe, that his brother would bring home someone at random like this. Perhaps he should drop this, for now.
"On second thought I might go," He seemed to reconsider what he said at first. "I might, but before I do anything, or go anywhere, I want to let you both know my moms almost done cooking, and he's of course going to invite you to eat as well Rykan." He wondered if the guy was hungry. Well, either way, his mom had added another person dinning to the table. Which made there being five people to eat. He expected his dad home soon. He wondered how he would react to seeing this new guy here.
Technically Rykan didn't quite answer his question. Well, he did, but he left out some details. So, he wasn't trying to be intimate with his brother. But he never said he wasn't interested in him. What was that whole thing about both parties being entirely willing and aware. Wasn't his brother in a very close position with him. Maybe not an intimate position exactly. but the point was he let him be near him. Didn't that stand for something? He thought it would.
Ferren wouldn't have minded telling his little brother to go. He wasn't sure about having him watch. He supposed no harm would come from it. He just wasn't sure how he felt about someone else watching him play. If he was to continue. "I suppose you could." He would rather see him take off though.
"Oh, thank you for telling me about that." He referred to the food his mother was cooking. He hadn't eaten in awhile. It would have been nice to eat some of his mothers cooking.
Hearing his brother might go, was something he somewhat hoped for. He wasn't sure if he would though. He still seemed to be lingering about the door. Waiting to see if anything happened perhaps. Well, he would see nothing but the music he would play. Or rather hear it.

Alright, so, your scales. Bb, F, Eb, Ab, C#," Rykan said, repositioning Ferren's fingers on the keys. He liked Calim, he really did, but the boy was rather obstinate in his thinking.
As Ferren played, Rykan instructed him, a small smile playing over his features. The boy was right about one thing, Rykan was very interested in the nervous, polite, sweet-hearted Jshiko.
