Hearing he could use the coat, Ferren went ahead and put it back on. Finding the additional warmth to be very much appreciated. As long as he wasn't taking the only warmth that the other male had. He didn't think it was something to feel bad about.
Seeing Rykan move about, had Ferren watching him curiously. He wondered what he was doing. It seemed he was taking out the flute he had. He assumed he was perhaps going to play, but then he saw him cleaning it.
Though he saw the flute out, he hadn't considered he was going to be taught. He thought to say something against that, but then hearing what Rykan said next, had caused him to pause. If it was going to help, he supposed he couldn't come to say otherwise.
Finding the close proximity of the other male, caused him to feel a bit...strange. Well, strange may not be the best way to put it. He just was unsure how to make out what he felt as Rykan went about placing the instrument in his hands.
He followed his instructions, letting him move about his hands in the appropriate places. It didn't seem too difficult so far. But he had yet to start playing. He couldn't say anything for himself until he saw how he could manage on his own.
When he was told to blow he did just that. As soon as his lips were pressed up against the pipe. He felt just a bit nervous for some reason. Perhaps, due to the possibility of making a fool of himself. He really couldn't say for sure. He just hated the thought of making horrible music on the lovely flute Rykan owned.

He could feel the boy's nervousness and felt the need to calm him. "Relax, Ferren." he said, his voice low and soothing near the shell of his ear.
"Take a deep breath," Rykan instructed in the same voice. "Now let it out." he said as the boy followed his directions, a low note was heard.
"See, it's easy." He smiled. "Now that was a low F." He re-arranged the boy's fingers. "Try to blow just a bit faster this time," he said slowly. "That will be a B flat." he said.

Ferren hadn't realized it was so obvious that he wasn't exactly calm. It was that or perhaps Rykan had a way of telling these things. He couldn't say. All he could say was that he did feel relatively calm when he heard the low and soothing tone of the other male.
Taking a deep breath was exactly what Ferren did, as he was instructed to do so. Letting it out in the same manner. It really was something to hear he had caused such a sound. Just one sound out of all the sounds he could possibly hear when combined together. Could he really make music like Rykan could?
It may have been a silly to wonder, but as he followed Rykan's instructions, he had come to wonder if he was really capable of doing this by himself. He might have come to voice his doubts, if he didn't still have the flute to his lips.
He couldn't possibly speak when he was still following the instructions of the other male. Blowing to give a low F and then, blowing faster to made a B flat. It did seem simple enough. Perhaps he could do this.

Rykan smiled slightly, the boy was growing more confident. "Good, see. Relax, and you can do this. It's very easy," he assured, and for the next hour or so, showed Ferren the Bb scale as well as the Ab scale. By the end of the hour, Ferren could play two of the scales in one octave by himself, as well as a small bit of Rykan's lullaby. As the night drew on, the cold grew colder. It was freezing cold, yet the two were perfectly warm. TIme seemed to pass easily between them.
Rykan was now seated right behind the beautiful boy, his longer legs stretched out next to the shorter boys' legs. His head always hovered over the Jshiko's shoulder, his white hair mingling with the equally white hair of the other boy.
"You have done beautifully, you're a very quick learner." He complimented, as the notes revealed that the fire was dwindling. "It's cold, so the notes are going to be a bit sharp. Pull the headpiece nearly all the way out." he said, showing the boy before standing, drawing away from the heat he had grown so used to and heading over to gather firewood from a small pile near his tree.
He found himself missing the boy's warmth, and felt a little tug on his heartstrings as his beast growled his displeasure at being separated from the boy. Rykan paused. What exactly was that about? His foot came across a small object, and there was a cry of displeasure.
"Ow! Zerca damn it, Rykan, watch where you're stepping." came an irate, teenage voice.
Rykan kneeled, his hand searching until he came across the small communicator. "Siren," he said to the communicator. "How did you get down here?" he asked.
"You dropped me from the pocket of yout grandfather's vest, you prick." said the foul-mouthed communicator.
Rykan snorted, before standing and walking back to his tree. Jumping up into it's branches, he placed the machine into the bag before dropping to the ground.
He slowly made his way back to the boy, and with every step, his beast grew less agitated.

Ferren was overjoyed at the progress he was making. He could hardly believe he had come as far as he had. He would have smiled if his mouth wasn't occupied with the flute. Not only was he having a god time practicing, he didn't seem to be making any mistakes with what he had down, he found the cold was barely noticeable. Not with how close he was to the other male. Perhaps that was why he was warm, regardless of the cold. It had him able to focus on the music he was playing instead.
What was it about Rykan that had him feeling so at ease. He was usually rather...skittish around strangers. Not that he thought he felt that ease. When referring to others. It just seemed with Rykan he didn't have anything to worry about. He couldn't say why though. With hos close he was, hovering over his shoulder, he should have felt disconcerted, but he did not. It was most strange indeed.
The compliment given actually did cause the Jshiko to smile a bit. He didn't know why it seemed to matter so much though That he was complimented by this stranger, someone he just meant not too long ago. He supposed it only made sense, being happy he did a good job in general. Did the notes really change because of the cold. It was something he supposed he would see for himself. He was still following the given instructions. Although, he nearly stopped playing when the other had to momentarily depart.
Why it was something that seemed to bother him, if only just a bit, he couldn't say either. He assumed it was merely because he had been warmer with him nearby. That and, though he couldn't explain it, he felt safe with the other male. He could easily cause harm to him, if he wished, but it didn't look like he was thinking to do that. It was rather silly to even linger on such thoughts. He was quick to brush them aside.
Was there someone else talking, Ferren's gaze briefly wandered towards where Rykan had gone as he found himself watching curiously.
He only chose to speak when he saw he was coming back from whatever he had done.
"Is everything alright?" He felt the need to ask, briefly removing his lips from the flute he was had been playing. He was very interested in learning how to play the instrument entirely, but he didn't expect to play for that long. He was wondering if Rykan, planned to help him some more, or if he wanted to get some rest. It did seem to be getting late. Perhaps he should head home himself. But the thought of leaving Rykan wasn't a pleasant one. He still couldn't say why though.

Rykan smiled at the boy. He calmed him like no other.
"No, there is nothing wrong." he said warmly, settling back down in his previous position. It was late. He could feel it in the air, and the way that the forest was settling in for the night. But it was quiet, too quiet for his liking. Something was happening in the forests, and the animals knew to hide from whatever it was approaching.
"Do you have a family waiting for you?" he asked. What if the boy was already mated? He smelled the air around Ferren discreetly. No, he was unmated, but that didn't mean he didn't have a companion. "If so, I should let you return, instead of staying in the cold woods with a strange man all night." he said, even as his heart cried out for him not to.
Rykan suddenly froze, jumping up from his position and unterring a feral growl. There was something watching them. He could feel it. And it was not friendly. A twig snapped and Rykan jumped in front of the boy.
"Ferren, up into the trees, now!" He said sternly before hurridly shedding his clothing and shifting just as a blur of white and black collided with his body. There was a large 'CRACK' as Rykan's huge body slammed into a tree. A vampire stood in the clearing, smirking at the tiger.

It was a relief to hear that nothing was wrong. With Rykan that is. He couldn't say why, not at the moment, but something felt a bit out of place. He had been so focused on what he had been doing, he couldn't say what it was.
The question referring to his family was unexpected. He had his blood related family waiting, that was it. He gave his head a slight not, for a moment forgetting the others lack of sight, to find that he had to correct himself. Before he could speak though, he heard what Rykan said next. He hadn't considered the thought. That Rykan was a strange man. He briefly thought on leaving, it still wasn't a pleasing thought. Perhaps he could just stay a bit longer, then he would head back home.
The thought seemed settled in Ferren's mind. It was something he was considering saying, but he was jumped, or surprised, by the others sudden movement. Soon hearing the feral growl uttered. He didn't have to ask to know something was wrong. He felt it now himself. One didn't turn into an animal and not have some way of noting the dangers. Especially one of his kind.
A twig snapping was heard just as he found Rykan moving in front of him. Something really was coming. He didn't need to be told twice to move. But what about Rykan? Worry, for the other came with the fear of his own life. He couldn't quite put one before the other. He knew better then to argue though. Especially after he saw Rykan change. He moved himself up quickly to hurry up one of the nearest trees.
Ferren had scarcely made it to, perching himself on a branch, the top when he heard a large cracking noise. He was quick to look and locate the other male. Where he found he had been slammed into a tree while, there was a vampire at the scene.
"Rykan!" It was impossible not to call out, for fear of the other being hurt badly. Ferren wished he could come to the others aide. He wanted to badly, but he knew he would only get in the way. He had no power to face a vampire. It was creatures like this that took down those of his race. Just thinking about the vampire getting his hands on in, caused him tremble in fear. Surely, no one could blame him for staying in the tree. Not that such could stop a vampire from getting to him.
He probably should have focused on escaping, but he wasn't the type to simply run off and leave another. He especially couldn't think to leave Rykan here. Not with a creature that could take his life. He supposed, if it came down to it, he could try something, just to try and protect Rykan. He knew it may have been futile to, but staying here and watching was worse then not doing something.

Rykan stood, roaring as he soared towards the vampire. The adrenaline in his system numbed the pain in his shoulder and he launched himself towards the creature, shifting in midair and tackling it. He used his claws to slash at what he assumed to be the vampire's face before jumping off of him and racing to grab his sword.
His warrior blood was singing, and he jumped down from his tree to face the vampire, unsheathing the sword.
"Hm...A Zercan on Jeskara. I never would've thought," said the vampire. The vampire's attention was drawn to the tree and he smirked again. "A Zercan protecting a Jshiko. How cute," he taunted. "Is he your widdle mate?" he asked.
"Perhaps I should take him first," the vampire smiled.
He growled. "Try it, cretin." Rykan's voice spoke death if the vampire ever tried to come near his mate. Wait...mate? Yes, mate. His beast agreed.
"Alright," the vamp grinned before launching his body towards Ferren's tree.
Rykan moved like lightening. There was a loud series of CRACKs as their bodies colided again, and an anguished scream filled the clearing.
Rykan re-appeared, slinging blood from his sword. The vampire burned in the fire. Rykan sighed, slumping down to the ground. His back was torn to shreds, and one of his arms was broken from slamming into the tree.
He looked around, not sure if Ferren had run away. "Ferren? Ferren are you alright?" he asked.

Ferren found himself stuck where he was, regardless of his thoughts on doing something, held by fear more then anything else. He was still torn between staying and leaving.More so as he saw what was going on. Seeing how Rykan was hurt as the fight progressed.
From where he was, he could hear what was being said. Was he just mentioned? Should he run? What if the vampire came over here? He found his hands gripping the bark of the tree he was in. What happened next seemed to go by so quickly. He thought the vampire would get him, but he was stopped by Rykin. Before he knew it he saw the fight had ended.
Clearly Rykan had won. He was overjoyed, but horrified at how hurt the other seemed. Without waiting another moment, he rushed to get down from the tree he was in. Moving over to the other male just as he heard his name mentioned.
"I'm just fine Rykan, you should worry more about yourself." Seeing he condition of the other male had him worried. He didn't know what to do. Well, he knew a bit about herbs, he figured that wold help, but other then that, he was at a loss.It wasn't like he had anything on him here. "Your terribly hurt." He felt stupid, mentioning the obvious.
"How can I help you." Perhaps, Rykan had some things with him to take care of his injuries. Otherwise, he was ready to rush off and get something for him. There were bound to be herbs about he could use.

"I'm losing blood rather quickly, but I am fine so long as you are unharmed." He said honestly. Rykan's head was spinning, at least, it would be if he could see. He just had a pounding feeling in his head.
"In my bag, there is a medical kit and a communicator named Siren. He...will tell you what to do, if you don't mind." he added, forgetting to be polite for a moment. Rykan dropped the sword, it's weight becoming too heavy for his arm. He had obtained other various scraps and scratches in the lightening brawl, but he figured that it was better than being tossed in the fire.

Ferren didn't quite understand what Rykan meant. It shouldn't matter that he was hurt or not. Although, he found he appreciated that he cared so much. He really thought he was over exaggerating when it came to that. But it was strange, he would think it sounded like he genuinely meant his words. Though he didn't see why he would care so much about him, after having just met him.
Being given instructions, Ferren wasted no time in getting up and heading towards Rykan's bag. As if the other even needed to ask in a polite manner. He would have done what he asked for, whether he was thanked for it or now. Much like what he was doing now. Not thinking to get a thanks as he reached the other males bag, looking in it and eventually finding the medical kit and the communicator.
It was only then, did he move to rush back to Rykan with both in hand. He wasn't sure if he should talk to Rykan again, or the communicator. He supposed the communicator would be the best. Seeing as how he was to be instructed by him.
"Excuse me, Siren, I need your help with taking care of Rykan." He spoke to the communicator, not quite sure how it would respond. He wished he had some idea of what to do from the start, so he wouldn't need any help.

"Who the hell are you?" Asked the irate communicator. "Nevermind, what did the bloody idiot get himself into this time?" Siren asked. When Ferren showed him the damage, Siren sighed.
"Alright, get the Medi pack. There's going to be a black bottle with a red top, use that to clean his wounds. The silver bottle is Seal, and the white bottle is Heal. Use Heal before Seal. Once you've done that, go get three sturdy sticks for his arm to make a splint." The computer instructed. Rykan had slumped forwards, passed out from blood loss.

Ferren had considered introducing himself, but then figure it was best to wait for later. He was very relieved to hear when Siren started to give him instructions. He immediately set to go to work with what he was saying. He had to momentarily put the communicator down by Rykan. Who he was worried for. He did so hope he would be alright once he was done.
As he was told by Siren, he first went about cleaning his wounds, with the black bottle that had a red top. Then he used the white bottle he heard was called heal, following with the next one called Seal. He worried, something he seemed to be doing too often, that he would mess up.
The three sticks was the next thing he moved to get, he had to find three sturdy ones. That didn't take too long, before he was rushing back to to Rykan. A frown firmly set upon his features as he had to make a splint. That was something he figured out how to do without asking. He knew what a splint was.
He wasn't sure how long it took before he was done, but he did finish. "Is there anything else I can do?" He spoke to Siren, taking up the communicator once more.

"There are bandages in the medical kit, wrap his arm up and set himm by the fire. Make sure he's warm. If he catches hypothermia, he'll die. Rykan has a very weak immune system." Siren said, his voice laced with care. He loved the stoic Zercan. They had been together since Rykan was a teenager, and the computer considered the boy his friend.
"It's actually not safe at all to leave him here, but it'll have to do for now..." Siren sighed. "Now strap me around his arm so I can monitor his heart rate and breathing." the computer ordered. It really was a bossy little thing.

Ferren gave a slight nod to what Siren said, as he quickly set to work on the new instructions given. Getting the ban adages and then wrapping Rykan's arm. He did his best to move him by the fire. He was just one person, not that strong, but he managed. He was horrified to hear that Rykan could die from something like that. Not that no one else could. He just couldn't stand the thought of the other male falling ill.
The last thing Ferren had to do was strap Siren around Rykan's arm. Something he did with care, not wanting to hurt the other. He didn't need to be told, that it was safe here. He knew all that far too well. It was never safe to be out here.
He couldn't help but feel a bit at fault here, for some reason, even if he wasn't at fault. It wasn't like he had made the vampire come here. Perhaps things would have gone so badly if he wasn't here. He could never know for sure. He could only hope that Rykan recovered.
"Is that all I can do for now?" Ferren, sort of assumed that was all he could do. It seemed if anything else was needed, he would be told. Or perhaps he wasn't needed anymore. That didn't mean he would leave though. He had to know if Rykan would be alright or not. Surely, his family would understand. He would explain his absence later.
