Ivan grinned over the shorter redhead’s head at Francis at the telltale widening of the eyes. He could see his first mate suppressing a laugh, so he decided to kill two birds; get rid of Francis’ annoying presence and relax his smaller companion. “Why don’t you tell any crew on board that they’d better be helpful or get out of the way, hmm?”
Shooting the Captain a roguish grin, Francis pat Knil’s hair and bowed mockingly before hurrying onto the ship. As much as he hated to admit it, Raiden was right. Some of the crew would not hesitate to make good will with the boy.
Looking at the other’s gaze, Ivan raised an eyebrow. “Any questions before we board?”

Knil pouted and huffed at Francis, running his hands through his hair to try and straighten it out. He glanced at Ivan with a blush, dropping his hands back to his side before biting his lip. "Well... Uhm... The ship... it...," he mumbled, pointing to the ship, as if that would explain it all, as he tried to say what exactly it was that he saw happen to it. "It... was shiney... and then not... and wood... and then... not... and... um... I sound stupid," he said, ducking his head to hide his face, which felt like it was fire. "Sorry..."

Ivan shook his head. “No, no. It’s fine.” He paused, motioning Knil to step onto the plank leading up the ship. “I expected the reaction, you see. The wood is imported from a system called Carvannha; the terrestrial planets in that system are known for their red shaded pigments.” Stepping onto the deck, he ran a hand along the grain of the bulwark, following the red path. “Have you ever seen a humanoid whose skin is a dusky red? They come from that system or a system much like it.”
Shrugging, he turned to look at the other, sighing slightly. “So, any other questions or do you want to be shown around the ship? She won’t set sail until the morrow’s dawn, so there is plenty of time.”

Knil grinned. He could tell that Ivan really cared for his ship... He was attatched to it. "That's really amazing. It's... the ship is really beautiful; I like it a lot!" he said, lightly touching the railing. "And... If you aren't busy with other stuff... I mean... If you wouldn't mind... I'd love to see the rest it," he said softly, though in his mind he added, as long as you're the one showing me... Ivan didn't make fun of him when he said something stupid... not like Francis did.

“Of course I don’t mind; if I had minded, I would not had made an offer to show you around the ship. Just… don’t freak out for a moment, do you hear?” In a quick movement, one of the swords were drawn from it’s sheathe and in Raiden’s hand, the other making a sharp pitched whistle. He knew, logically, that he’d told Francis to take care of those on board, but all the same, he knew it was different coming from him.
At once, the entire crew in the open vicinity gave their attention to him, though in no way did they stop their movements. “Listen up. Sure as I am that Francis has told you, I still feel the need to reiterate just that.” Giving off his ‘Captain’ aura and seeing the right reactions, he continued.
“I shall be showing Knil about the ship. If he asks any questions that I do not answer, I expect them to be answered.” Right here would be were the stereotypical Pirate Captain would enter a death by beheading threat, so Raiden decided to just go for the unspoken of caressing the hilt of Aranon. Honestly, his crew didn’t even need a threat, but he was in the port still, so he figured he’d earned the right to be cautious.
Turning to the shorter redhead, he cast his head to the side with a raised eyebrow as he sheathed the sword. “I hope that was not too startling, but we are in port and thus some things need to be done.” So much for not being one to explain himself, Ivan though in self-amusement. “Now, do you have any questions, key points you want to see or ask about, or should I just show you about?”

Knil jumped, taking a slight step back when Ivan pulled out a sword. The way the other man was speaking to the crew... it kind of scared him. He wasn't used to people speaking so harshly- especially to people that worked for him! The Merman wondered, briefly, if Ivan would speak to him that way... and the thought made him pout before he pushed it from his mind.
When Ivan had explained himself, Knil felt a bit more relieved. He blushed lightly and shook his head. "I... I'm afraid I don't really know much about oceanic ships like this... Only space ships...," he said softly, "So... just... show me around, maybe?" he asked.

Nodding, Ivan led him around the above deck first, occasionally giving smaller comments about the ship as a whole; origin of the design, how long it took to piece together (A bit more than nineteen months. Five months on land, six on the waters for structure, the rest for interior, balance, and finish), what the name meant (Kairyuu actually has many meanings. Most of the time I’ll say ‘the method of thought’ because letting people know you named your ship ‘water current’ just doesn’t settle sometimes…), and various damage points.
As he lead Knil around the interior of the ship, in the middle of explaining a job that was being done, he turned to look at the mer. “I’m sorry, I haven’t exactly asked much of your opinion on this… so I’ll ask again, is there anything you wish to see?”

Knil tried to take in all that Ivan was saying while he looked around at everything. When they were inside the ship, the Mer tried to keep out of the crew's way, he didn't want to be a bother to anyone. He turned to Ivan when the man started speaking to him again before blushing lightly and shaking his head. "No, honestly, I don't know much of anything about ships like these... I love it so far, though," he replied, "So... just show me whatever you think is interesting and I won't mind." He smiled lightly before jumping out of the way of someone that was passing them.

Smiling slightly, Ivan continued to show the other around over the next few hours, becoming more animated with each description. When he finally ended the tour in the captains quarters, the sun had been set for over an hours time. He sat at his desk, drinking clear water for his parched throat before looking inquiringly at Knil.
“I hope that you found that interesting; I think I repeated myself a few times as well. The crew will be laughing at me for days on end.” Running a hand through his hair and pulling out the tie, the dark strands falling around his shoulders as he relaxed. “Do you want anything?”

Knil knew for a fact that Ivan had repeated at the least a few things. The Mer didn't really mind, though. Ivan seemed so excited to talk- err... brag, it seemed was a better word, about his ship, and Knil didn't mind listening and just following along; though his feet were rather sore at this point. He stood silently in the captain's quarters, near the door, and shook his head when Ivan offered him something. Knil bit his lip as he watched Ivan pull his hair down. He lightly ran a hand through his own hair before blushing and averting his gaze.
"No thank you, I'm alright," he answered before smiling and replying to the other man's former statement. "Thank you for showing me the ship; it really is beautiful! It's alright that you repeated yourself; sometimes it takes me that much to be able to remember things, so that helped a lot!" he exclaimed happily. It really was an amazing ship, especially since the Mer had never been on a sea ship before.

Ivan gave a slight smile at the praise, however embarrassing the last few hours were in retrospect. “Very well, and thank you for the compliment; truly.” Closing his eyes and taking a steady breath, he motioned to the chair opposite the desk. “If you wish to sit, I’ve no qualms about it. I’ve little doubt that your feet are complaining heavily.”
Giving a tired sigh, Ivan forced himself to open his eyes. For some reason, he was exhausted, something that had not happened to him in quite a while. It was worse yet that he had not even been very busy through the day, and was well used to the daylight hours that sapped people of their strength. “Do you want to talk about anything? You had mentioned earlier that you were here to pick some trinkets up, right?”

Knil smiled and nodded, gratefully excepting the man's offer to sit. He noticed, once he sat down, though, that he man had his eyes closed, so his nod had been wasted... not that Ivan had been looking at him at that point anyway...
"Hm? Oh... yeah... I went all through the market... But I didn't find anything, so I don't think they have them here. So, I just decided to buy Momma something nice, the comb, to make up for it," he explained, pulling the comb back out of his hidden away pocket. "He won't be as dissappointed if I bring him at least something back, even if it wasn't what he wanted."
