"Very silly, Mikey. I mean, I'll eat anything, even if I'm not really hungry. But I'm starving and this is really great."
The hungry male was finished within a minute, his plate practically squeaky clean. It had been a wonderful meal and he was looking forward to more of his mate's cooking in the future.
"Hmmm I think I'm full," he said thoughtfully.

Michael chuckled. "I hope so! You ate a lot!" he exclaimed. "I wonder if there's enough left over for Dad?" he muttered as he continued eating. He laughed again, figuring that, no, there probably wouldn't be. However, his father probably wouldn't even be home for a few hours anyways, which would make the breakfast leftovers not worth eating. "Ah well."

Rauidri frowned thoughtfully.
"You speak of your Life-giver, but not your Life-bearer. Why is that?" he asked curiously.

Michael blinked, confused by the other's vocabulary. "My... what?" he asked, taking another bite of food.

The Zercan blinked. "Um, Life-bearer? The one that... bears you," he said slowly.
"You're mother," he explained further when his mate gave him another curious look.

Realization overtook his features before Michael frowned slightly. "Ah... well... My... my mother died... awhile ago," he explained quietly. He'd grown used to not having her around and being able to see her or talk to her, he'd still been rather immature when she'd died, but a personal doesn't recover from the death of parent, especially at such an important age in development... but that was his Psychology notes talking. Michael smiled weakly at his guest. "Please don't appologize or give me pity or anything like that. I've got plenty of it from other people."

His frown deepened as his mate spoke. The other's Life bearer had passed away? That must be horrible, and more for his father than for Michael himself. Though it would be awful for his human as well. But... how was the older man even surviving through this? How could he live a single second more knowing that he would never see his love again?
Rauidri shook his head, sighed, and walked over to his mate. "Pity? Never pity, Love," he murmured after knealing next to him. His hands grasped the other boy's lightly. "Pity is a hollow feeling. I truely do feel for you and your father."
"I don't know how he could live this long without his other half. He must be so strong," he murmured, suddenly feeling very terrible that he needed to split the two. There was just no way Rauidri could live on this horrible planet, and his mate's Life giver could come to Zerca. Unless... unless he brought the man with him 'on accident'. But they would be in so much trouble.

Michael gripped the other boy's hand tightly. It was nice to have comfort without those extra emotions attatched. He just wanted someone to understand what they were going through, his father and he, without the pity or the guilty look and apologies that meant nothing. He smiled slightly, thinking of his father. "He... is very strong. He works really hard to support the two of us... and Cindy. He really is amazing," he said softly.

Rauidri licked his lips thoughtfully. That must be why the man was able to live on, because of Michael. He lived because he knew if he did not his son would not be taken care of well. Now he did not have to worry, though.
"That's my job now," he told Michael. "To support you. Cindy can stay here with your dad. I don't really like having to compete with your attentions," he said teasingly... though he was being completely serious. It was one thing if the competitor was another man, but this was a dog they were talking about.

Michael tilted his head to the side, an ever-so-slight smile on his face. "You don't like Cindy? She's just a puppy. Children need love to grow and learn, so of course she wants my attention." He grinned, squeezing Ruaidri's hand once more before releasing the grasp. He stood, picking up their plates and moving them to the sink to wash them. "And, what's your job now?" he asked curiously, turning to look at the strange boy as he let the sink fill up with sudsey water.

The Zercan shrugged. "She's nice enough. I'm grateful for her for being so protective of you, but I can now so... yeah," he nodded.
He frowned when his mate stood up. It could be considered pouting, but Life-givers do not pout, so obviously it was not a pout, right?
Rauidri stood up and followed Michael to the sink. "My job now?" he grinned. "Besides keeping you happy and safe, I'm working on a... ship.... You know, I really should call them soon. Of course, I can't 'cause I don't have my communicator."
"Shit," he grumbled, rubbing his forehead irrately. "I hope they didn't leave without me. It's just the thing they would do, too," he said, looking up at the human. "It's not my fault those evil humans kidnapped me and stuck me in a dungeon for other humans to watch me and take primative photographs of me."
"Of course," he said quickly, hurrying to touch Michael's arm lightly. "I wouldn't have met you otherwise, so I'm not really regretting it. We just don't have any way to get back home if they left without me," he explained.

Michael stared in confusion. "...What?" was all that he could think of to say. He thought for a moment with a frown. "Where, exactly, do you live then, Ruaidri. You've yet to explain that much to me..."

A soft sigh escaped him, but he was still smiling. "Zerca," he explained.
"I live on Zerca." He pulled Michael away from the sink for a moment. "It's very, very far from here.... It is a different planet, in a system of highly advanced planets different from Earth. You guys are out of the loop, so to say."

"...Uh-huh..." Michael, understandably, was having trouble believing that. "And... that's my home now?" he asked. He couldn't imagine living anywhere other than here: anywhere without his father. "What about my dad?"

"Yeah.... I can't exactly stay here on Earth. I'm sorry, but I can't stay on this planet," he sighed.
"Oh, and your Life-giver." Saying that he first planned on leaving the man here was probably the most idiotic thing he could ever do. So, he was not going with that path.
"I haven't thought that through yet. Humans are really only allowed to come to Zerca if they are a Zercan's mate. I figure, if I can some how sneak you dad on the ship... or bribe the Captain... then he can come along, too. And Cindy, too," he grinned.
