They entered the dining room and Damijan cast an awkward glace around the room before shrugging. "So, good evening, everyone," he said, announcing their arrival. "Where shall we sit?"

Gabby shrugged. "In the... empty... seats...?" he asked, glancing at the table that had only two empty seats at the dinner table. He smiled at his family, grinning when Chris gurgled happily. He giggled softly and took a seat. "Hey... everyone. How are you guys...?" he asked, trying to fill in the awkward silence. He squirmed; everyone was staring at him and Dami.

"Um...," Dami trailed off awkwardly before going to pull out the seat for Gabby and Chris before sitting in his own seat. "I hope everyone is...Um, in good health."

Gabby smiled, trying to supress a laugh. He wanted to kiss him, to keep him from feeling so awkward, but he didn't think his mom would approve.... Realizing that, Gabby leaned over and kissed his mate on the cheek. "Everybody calm down, okay? It's still just me, you know? I'm not a stranger; I'm family," he stated before moving to start filling his own and Dami's plates with food.

"Thank you," Damijan mumured softly so that only his mate could hear him. He took his plate from his mate after it was full and began eating. "Oh, this is good." It still wasn't as good as his own cooking, but it was still decent.

Gabby smiled and nodded, setting down a plate of food in front of himself. Once he had Chris situated so he would try to steal a handful of food, he picked up his fork to start eating. "So... has anything especially interesting happened?" he asked softly, looking up at his family curiously.
Sarah grinned, swallowing the food that was in her mouth before speaking. "Hmm... what interesting things have happened to us in the course of the year that you've been gone? Well... should I make a list?" she asked sarcastically. Gabby pouted and stuck his tongue out, making Chris do the same before the baby giggled happily, clapping his hands together.

Damijan chuckled at his son and carressed the boy's cheek before going back to his food. "So...Was the a yes or a no?" he asked his mate softly in confusion before shaking hsi head. Speaking louder, he added, "Um...Well, what about anything in general?"

Tina shrugged. "I... I'm still with Amanda...," she said softly. Gabby grinned.
"Reeee~aaallly?" he asked slyly. Amanda was her girlfriend from when Gabby had just met Dami. "That's a long time." Tina smiled and nodded.

"Congratulations," Damijan said. "Is there anything else anyone's done...? Parties, jobs, promotions...Anything?" He wanted to know more about his new in-laws and he was sure Gabby wanted to learn what his family had been up to in his absense.

After a few more moments of silence, the family slowly started to open up. They ended up sitting at the table well after their plates were emptied talking about things that had happened while they were apart. Gabby was sure, though, to hide facts that might have given them away...

Dami smiled, just listening to everyone speak. Not many questions had been directed towards him since the family seemed wary of him...Either that or they were just intent on denying his presense for the moment. It was fine with him though, he would sit there until Gabby was ready to go back up to sleep.

Gabby smiled, glad that his family wasn't shying away from him, anymore. Glancing down, he caught sight of Chris yawning cutely. "Oh... It must be late...," he mumbled, patting the baby's head gently. "Well... I hope you guys don't take offense to this... but I think we should go to sleep now, we've had a long few days...," he admitted.

"That's a bit of an understantement," Damijan said, agreeing. "But, yes. It's been a long and hard journey here, so if you don't mind..." He motioned towards the stairs and gave the family a small smile.

Gabby's dad nodded in understanding. "Oh! Of course! You're both welcome here, you know, you don't have to act like guests..." Gabby blushed and nodded.
"Oh-... okay..." With that, Gabby stood from the table, scooping up Chris in one hand while picking up his plate with the other. Setting the plate down in the sink, he lead Dami back up to his room.

Following his mate, Dami went into their room and sat down on the bed. "That was nice," he said. "Your family loosening up to talk to you and your dad is nice."
