(Hey Light, the offer still stands right ?? Hope the both of you don't mind my intro is so long I tried to keep it short, but that didn't work)
Delicate pale fingers brushed over the side of the book. Marmalade golden eyes read the title carefully while it was breathed from between parted dark lips. The library was mostly filled with silence, light shone through the large windows which showed the gardens. Every now and then you could hear the birds outside. It was almost empty, the desks clean and untouched. There was only one young man who was reading the different titles of some books out loud, his voice soft enough to be a whisper and nothing more. The words were pronounced carefully and slow, every word drawn from the pale lips.
After a couple of minutes the delicate fingers wrapped around a book and pulled it out of the bookcase. Eyes scanned over the cover and the sides of the small mouth turned upwards into a smile. The man brushed a strand of coppery brown hair behind his ear, noting that it had come loose from his braid which rested between his shoulder blades. He reminded himself that he should redo it later, when he had the time.
The young man started walking towards the large wooden doors slowly now that he had found the book that he needed, he kept his eyes on the cover of the book, taking in every little detail of it’s cover. He moved his eyes along the large burgundy letters, curling around. The man portrayed on the crimson red cover looked back at him with empty obsidian eyes, his mouth was turned into a sneer and his pale face made him look like a porcelain doll. Master Nourre was all ready waiting for him in the gardens and there was no need to let him wait but he still took his time, enjoying the time he could spend on his own instead of in the eyesight of his Master. The halls were empty and every step that was made could be heard on the dark stones underneath the brunette’s feet.
Outside it was starting to get colder, the evening making known it was coming after the day, all though it was usually cold on Jeskara but it was still growing colder by the minute. A shiver ran down the red head’s spine and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips when he looked around in the garden. It seemed almost as if it was torn from one of the pages of a book, pulled out of a fairy tale. The serene garden had always been one of his favourite places of Master Nourre’s mansion. Rose arches were places above a walkway that led to the middle of the garden. In the middle there was secluded place with cushions and a small table.
He knew that Master Nourre would be waiting there, sprawled over the cushions with tea and sweets, waiting for him to join him and tell him stories. The master’s dark eyes looking up at the sounds he heard, wondering if it would be him.
A sigh escaped the young man’s lips and he started to walk past the rose arches. He brushed his fingers over the red petals and enjoyed the soft feeling of them underneath his pale fingertips.
“Ah, Nava...”
The red head smiled when he saw his master in the exact position he had thought the raven haired man would be. Nourre was lying on the cushions, holding a porcelain white cup in his left hand while he rested his body on his right elbow. A satisfied smile played on Nourre’s handsome face and he mentioned for Nava to sit down across from him, the dark wooden table separating them.
The other did what he was told and sat down, carefully brushing wrinkles of out of his slacks and shirt as he sat down. He tucked the loose strand behind his ear again, making a second mental note on redoing his hair. The pale man smiled at his Master and waited for instructions.
“Read for me, Nava.” Master Nourre said when the other was sitting. He kept his eyes on the brunette, waiting for the other to open to book and to start reading. When Nava did he smiled and took a sip of his tea.
Nava looked down at the page and started reading, parting his lips just a little. His eyes scanned over the page and he started to tell Master Nourre the story. It was a love story, telling of a man who had fallen for the King’s companion. Quickly Nava lost himself in the story, telling Master Nourre who enjoyed listening while he slowly sipped his tea.
“Perhaps you could continue tomorrow...”
Nava looked up at the master and nodded, knowing it was not a request even if Nourre brought it as one. He nodded and looked down at the book to remember exactly where he was. Then he closed the book, his pale fingers resting against it as he looked at the table, waiting for other instructions.
Nourre mentioned him to come over to him and Nava couldn’t help but tense lightly. He hated the thought of being close to not only Nourre but everyone. The touch of other’s repulsed him, made his skin crawl and made him shudder. But as always Nava did as he was told, getting up reluctantly and placed the book on the dark wooden table.
The raven haired half-Ishiko kept his dark eyes upon him and waited for Nave to sit down next to him. He pulled the much smaller man towards him and brushed a hand through the other’s hair, the silken strands felt wonderful underneath his fingers and curled around the long digits. “I have made the decision of going to Zerca, but I will not go alone.” He started and watched Nava with a hint of amusement in his eyes. It seemed the other didn’t understand what he wanted to ask. “I wish for a companion and I have decided that you will be that person.”
Nava felt blood drain from his face and he turned to look at Nourre, rather confused. “Me?” He asked, his voice high and awkward. “I don’t think that is a good idea, Master Nourre.”
“It’s a perfect idea...” Nourre muttered. “My own parents live there..., I need to visit just as every year, you know that.”
The vampyre nodded. “Yes, I do know that...but you have never taken anyone there before.” He decided and bit his lower lip, taking the plumb piece of skin between his white teeth.
“That is true.” Nourre replied. “But,” He also continued. “I love it when you read to me, or sing to me..., it’s rather boring if you are not around.”
Nava tensed when Nourre rubbed the back of his hand over the young man’s pale cheek. “Surely there are many things that will keep you entertained without me...” He tried hopeless. Nava did not want to go to Zerca, he didn’t want to go away from the mansion and to a different planet. He was scared enough to go to the capital city let alone an other planet.
“You will be going with me Nava.” Nourre hissed, getting irritated by the other’s objections. “So it would be smart if you start packing your things...”
Nava nodded, knowing he shouldn’t object any longer. If he did the other was be angry with him and he did not want that, realizing it would get him in a situation where he would be receiving punishment. “Very well, master Nourre.” When the other started to push him up and told him to start packing he nodded and smiled at the other man. “I will go right away.”
The crimson brunette pushed himself up. He felt his stomach turn but he kept his emotionless state of mind, acting like nothing was wrong. He elegantly left Nourre alone, taking the book with him that he had been reading to his master. But once he was inside he broke down. His eyes filled with confusion and his stomach flipped. He placed his trembling hand against his lower stomach and gasped, shaking his head. “No..., no..., no…” He whimpered.
“Nava?”
The vampyre spun around, greeted by the worried face of Tozzo, one of the servant’s. “What?” He snapped and the other quickly shook his head and left. Nava placed a hand over his eyes, feeling his long fingers trembling against the ivory skin.
When he returned to his own room he looked around, his eyes shifting from side to side to take in everything. He shifted around a little nervous as if he looked around like a caged bird. He did not want to leave, he couldn’t leave. Even if Nourre told him too. “Oh dear...” He mumbled softly, a choked cry escaping from his lips.
A idea filled his mind all though it was thrilling it was also scaring. He would run away before tomorrow morning. He would leave that night and he wouldn’t return. The brunette practically ran towards his closet and started to take some clothes out of it. His hands trembled and started to shake more and more with every piece of clothing he pulled out of his closet. The idea replayed over and over in his head and every time he thought about it he started to feel more sure about his solution.
Suddenly his hands stopped their movement and he glanced at the pale skin. Nave bit on his lip, the soft piece of skin moving against his pearl white teeth. ‘How was he to provide for himself?’ Nava wondered and shifted nervously. He did not have money, when he needed something then Nourre bought it for him. And how was he ever going to find work in a place like this? On Jeskara? If he left Jokadi he wouldn’t survive, he was too weak to defend himself from any Deamone wandering around. And if he remained in Jokadi he would have to find work, but he knew nothing of work. He had never worked before in his life. Being master Nourre’s companion could not be called working, he told him stories and sung for him, that was all.
A worried sigh left his lips but still he continued. ‘I will think of such things later..., now I only need to leave...’ Nava thought to himself and nodded to confirm his own thoughts. When most of the clothes he would near to wear were lying on his bed he searched around for his bag. The old worn dark brown duffle bag was lying underneath his closet.
Nava opened it slowly, his long thin fingers curling around the fabric. The man smiled when he noticed the things inside of the bag. He reached inside of it and pulled out a old painting. The sides were torn and curling. When he’d been a child he had often taken it with him to the most unlikely places and now it was starting to show on the old parchment. He brushed a finger over the ink portrait of his life-bearer. Only for a moment he gave the other a thought and a frown was the only sign of what he felt: pain, confusion and most of all betrayal.
Quickly Nave pushed it back into the duffel bag and pulled out something else. The brunette smiled absentmindedly and started to walk towards the bed, rubbing his fingers over the surface of the golden locket he was holding between his thin fingers. One of his fingers brushed over the amethyst which was attached right in the middle of the oval locket. After throwing the brown bag on the bed carelessly he opened it and watched the two portraits which it held inside. Both his parents, Nyan and Saellen were portrayed inside. He smiled bitterly when his eyes rested on the smiles of his parents. Just as his they were fake, they had always been fake. He closed it and quickly pulled it over his head, hiding it behind his shirt to keep it from sight.
Within minutes he was putting his clothes inside the bag making haste because he did not want to be caught by one of the servants. When Nava heard a knock on the door he stiffened. “Yes?” He asked, worried.
”Nava, it’s me, Keallyn”
The vampyre bit his lip, glancing at the door. He slowly made his way over to the wooden door and opened slightly, peering outside. He smiled at the blonde man on the other side and made sure his body was blocking his bed. “Can I help you with something?”
“Dinner will be served in an hour.” Keallyn said and smiled at the brunette vampyre. When he saw the other nod wearily he frowned. “Are you all right?”
“Of courses.” Nava muttered and brushed a hand through his hair. “Well..., there are some thing that I still need to do, could you excuse me?” When Keallyn nodded in reply he slowly closed to door, muttering a ‘bye’.
He leaned against the door for a mere second and then he quickly went back to packing. His burgundy eyes followed every movement his hands made but he was deep in thought, busy with entirely different things than packing.
After ten minutes he was ready and he glanced at the door again. He stood straight, placing his hands on his hips as he watched the dark wooden door. Nava remained quiet, listening carefully if he could hear someone outside. When he was sure there was no one on the other side of the door he grabbed his bag and left his room.
Carefully he made his way down the stairs. He could hear Kaellyn and Sinai in the kitchen and remained as quiet as possible as he passed the open door. Neither noticed him as he walked by and a sigh of relief escaped him when he reached the servant entry of the house. He slowly unlocked the door, hoping that he would not make a sound. A soft creaking sound faintly filled the hallway as he opened it but no one would be able to hear it unless they were listening quietly.
Once outside a relieved breath escaped from his shaking lips. Before Nava realized what he was doing he was running down the land that belonged to Nourre’s mansion. It was bordering against Jokadi and he was glad that he would not have to walk around outside of Jokadi knowing how dangerous it was to do such a thing alone.
“Oh dear...” He breathed, his voice shaking as he started to run harder. With every move he made he felt a heavy burden fall from his heart and once he reached the gates he felt utterly relieved. Nava quickly passed them and entered the capital city of Jeskara. Once he was far enough he stopped running, taking his time to catch his breath and slow it down. He noticed other’s around him staring at him with confused expressions but he did not care. All he cared for now was that he was away from Nourre and away from Nourre’s plans.
Delicate pale fingers brushed over the side of the book. Marmalade golden eyes read the title carefully while it was breathed from between parted dark lips.
