Silence in the Night ((Quidel/Laina/Angelo))

[Quidel Midas]

Quidel studied the picture with a critical eye for a second. Yes, he could feel something was missing too. It looked...off-balance. He smiled then when he realized what it was.

Carefully he brought his hand next to the sketch and pointed. "I do...Laina. We need him sitting next to us or it all looks unbalanced," he said. The Incubus blinked and turned to look at Angelo. "That's it, isn't it?"

[Angelo Nyx]

Angelo grinned and nodded. "Yes!" he exclaimed quietly, looking at the painting again. "I think Laina is missing from the picture.... But... it confuses me why we feel this way," he confessed quietly, his hand tightening around Quidel's. "Are we-"

"Soup's ready!" Decia announced.

[Laina Dafydd]

Laina watched his guests out of the corner of his eye as the spoke about what seemed to be the picture he'd painted. He wanted to laugh when they both jumped as his mother's announcement. He grabbed a few bowls from a cabinet that had lost its door long before Laina could remember and placed them on the table. He smiled at his life-giver as he set the pot of soup on the table. "Mm! It smells good mother, what's in it this time?"

Decia smiled proudly. "All your favorite stuff today, a gift from Feiru. Thank him if you see him tomorrow at the square would you? Now hurry up and eat before it gets cold!" And with that he left to find his other son.

[Quidel Midas]

Quidel smiled lightly as Decia left and began to dish a bit out for everyone. When that was done, he sat down next to the others and inhaled the smell from his own bowl. It smelled wonderful...

His smile widened and he nodded towards Laina. "I must thank your mother when he gets back, Laina. This smells good," he said as he picked up a spoon and began eating.

It was good, but...As he chewed the food, he could feel how it practically became air within him. Being an Incubus, he could eat normal food, but it gave him very little nourishment. In fact, it just seemed to either sit inside him or disappear altogether. He didn't want to come off as rude though, so he continued to eat, smiling.

No way was he going to ask them for something he could really eat.

[Angelo Nyx]

"Mmm," Angelo smiled when he swallowed the soup. "This is good! Your mother is so nice, Lai-Lai. I wish I had a mother... like your's," he whispered, taking another sip. "When I go to my other friends' houses their mothers simply say 'Make yourself at home! I will have...," he waved his hand in the air, talking in a snobby voice, "Francis serve you some sandwhiches.' And half the time the sandwhiches have meat in them, so I can't eat them anyway. But your mother's soup doesn't, and it tastes good...," he trailed off, brushing the hair out of his face. "I-I'm rambling, aren't I? I'm sorry."

[Laina Dafydd]

Laina blushed. Lai-Lai?. He shook his head Angelo. "No, it's fine. My mother loves to entertain people. He does whenever he gets the chance. And... well, we're Jshiko so... when you transform into animals... you don't really feel like eating them."

[Quidel Midas]

Quidel glanced between the two and smiled. "So you're Jshiko?" he asked curiously. "That must be fun. Turning into something else, I mean. I would love to be able to do something like that."

[Angelo Nyx]

"Oh, I love turning into animals!" Angelo exclaimed. "Are you all Jshiko, Lai-Lai?" he asked. At the slight nod he smiled. "I'm not, I have some Vampyre and Majikadai in me." He placed his finger on his chin thoughtfully. "What are you, Quidels?" he asked.

Quidel froze slightly and looked up to see the expectant looks of Angelo and Laina. He didn't know what to say. After all, he was an Incubus...Someone that people were afraid to be around during the party time for fear of getting molested or raped or something.

He didn't want these two new friends to feel him or hate him or something like that. It had happened before. At least he wasn't as bad as those of Vampyre origin...Well, Angelo had said he was part Vampyre, but that was only part. It didn't mean he acted on that part of his nature.

The pale youth glanced down into his bowl and saw that he had eaten it all. Slowly, he pushed it into the center of the table and stood. "Well, perhaps I should be going," he said, avoiding the question entirely. "Zania is probably on his way to my apartment right now..."

[Laina Dafydd]

Laina winced and pouted. He, too, had been curious about Quidel. "Who is Zania? Your mate?" The thought of that hurt him more than he thought it should have. He sighed, shaking his head at himself, and stood. He picked up Quidel's and his own empty bowls and carried them to the sink to wash later.

[Angelo Nyx]

Angelo started to cough, and placed his spoon in his still half full bowl. Zania, Quidel's mate?? That couldn't be.... He bit his lip when he stopped coughing and glanced up at the pale haired man for his answer.

[Quidel Midas]

Quidel laughed slightly and shook his head. "No...He's my mother's best friend. Also my caretaker for the time being. I need to check in with him every so often, so he can be sure I'm not dead yet." He sighed and looked over at Laina and Angelo before coming up with an idea.

Quickly he reached into his pocket and pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and tore it in two. He then pulled out a pen and jotted something down before handing it to the two.

"We should get together again. That has my number and my address on it, if you want it. If you two aren't doing anything tomorrow, we can meet in the square perhaps...?"

[Laina Dafydd]

Laina gave a small smile and took the paper. He wouldn't be able to use the phone number, but the address would be nice. "Yes, I'll be working... but... You could come visit me if you don't terribly mind. I work by Feiru's Imports. It's a store that sells things that are.... well... imported... like food and clothes and stuff. He lets me set up by his store for free and he's friends with my father. Oh, now I'm babbling. I'm sorry."

[Angelo Nyx]

Angelo smiled and read the phone number and address. "Oh, this will be fun!" he grinned, and slipped the paper in one of his pockets. "I should probably be going to," he said a little sadly. "No telling what Kalil's done by now. Told Shadow and Nebula, I bet," he sighed and took his bowl to the sink after finishing it quickly. The cross breed stood next to the other two for a moment before randomly giving them both big hugs.

Quidel laughed a warm feeling inside at him at the hug. He returned it before also giving one to Laina. When he pulled away, his pastel eyes glittered with this new feeling and a brilliant smile crossed his face.

"Well, good-bye then," he said, walking towards the door. He turned the knob and opened it before looking back at the others. "Laina, you must thank your life-giver for me and tell him how sorry I am I had to leave. I suppose I'll see you all later." He waved and blew a kiss before quickly stepping outside the door.

As soon as the door shut behind him, a cold feeling replaced the warmth. The Incubus blinked before shrugging it off and hurrying home.
