"Oh," Eru said, "I haven't been to one of these festivals in a while, but at the last one, I seem to remember learning a few steps..." he paused, trying to remember, "I'm sorry... my memory isn't too good... I can never remember anything past five or six years ago..."
He shook his head, giving up trying to remember learning the Reyl dances. He had only been ten when he had left home anyway, the beginning of his disrememberance of any sort family he might have had.

The younger didn't look like he had hurt his head, Luca wondered for a moment why the boy suffered memory loss. The Reyl quickly stuffed that thought away as he decided to lighten the situation. "That's quite alright," he began. "You don't have to dance if you don't want to."
Luca pointed around one of the tents to an area near the bonfire that had enough room to sit in. "If you want to, find a spot by the fire, and I'll be back with some food for you," He gave a polite smile before making his way towards the serving tent.

Eru looked up (he had always been shorter than the others) and nodded, making his way to the tent area. All this excitement made him want to draw, so he sat down quickly and got a blank piece of paper out and his graphite pencil. He began making up stick figures, trying to remember things. Some came, and some didn't, but he would work a little bit, and then look up into the flames, thinking hard about what he was trying to express.

Luca returned a moment later, carrying a plate of cooked meat, a few greens, and a mug of water; he didn't know of the other male drank anything stronger, and decided to something easy to start with.
He found Eru sitting by the fire, pad and graphite in hand as he appeared to absently sketch. The Reyl felt someone sad in a bit of an unexplainable way. He walked up to the younger male, setting the plate down beside him. "Here," he said softy with a smile. "Hope you like it."

Eru looked up quickly and smiled, "Won't you sit with me?" he asked.
He shifted the unfinished drawing over a little bit. As his eyes grazed the edges, he sighed. It was still nothing but a complicated stick figure. His gray eyes glazed over as he stared back into the fire. Then an idea struck him.
He looked back up, "If you leave now, this drawing might never get done... I can't draw if the model isn't there..." he added quietly, grinning.

Luca felt his face turn a crimson red at the complement. The man in the image, who was still just a simple frame, was him? "Alright," he said, nodding in agreement.
He set himself at the offered space next to Eru, feeling slightly awkward. It was flattering to be a model in the younger male's image, but he wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to be doing. Was he supposed to pose? To just relax? The back of his mind tried to reason why he was getting so worked up, but wasn't being paid any attention.

Eru sighed, "Relax, I just need your features... the pose is already there... besides, if you get tensed up, it might show through the picture..."
He used his other hand to put on the older boy's shoulder to calm him down, then remembered where he was. He was so used to the other places he had been, where touching others was friendly, and not... well mate-ly. He put his hand back on his sketchpad and began feverishly drawing, like if he didn't get it down, the image would... slip away.

Luca relaxed a bit, letting himself fall back to his normal state of ease. Eru's hand helped, the younger boy was a lot warmer to the touch then he'd imagined.
The Reyl stared off into the burning bonfire in the middle of the festivities. While he felt like he wanted to be back with the others, preparing the food and making sure the festivities would continue well into the daylight hours, the small reprieve he was feeling was a nice change of pace. Somewhat boring, his finger tracing invisible circles on his leg in response, but it felt nice. Did Eru get to experience this kind of calm when he traveled?

The rough sketch was done. Later, on another voyage, he would fill in the lines more, so they became darker, and maybe he would add some random details, but everything was there. The detail on the Reyl's sashes and clothing, the the cat-like glimmer in his eye. The younger boy smiled and set down his pencil, "Well... thanks for the food and the inspiration..." he said quietly.
He wasn't sure where he was going with this, but he felt like he was leading a funeral procession. "I guess I have to leave soon..." he said, mostly as a reminder to himself. His empty space was yelling at him to get a move on, to find whatever it was he lost... it certainly wasn't here... But what if it is? Eru asked his missing piece. It didn't answer, an obvious defeat.

The Reyl took a quick second, stealing a glance, just a quick one, at the drawing of him. His eyes widened a bit, taking the image in. It was somewhat difficult to see, since the lines were mostly light and hard to see, be could definitely make out the attention to detail that had been put into it. From the sashes that decorated his body to the stray strands of hair that fell out from under his bandanna, everything was so well done. Much more then Luca could ever hope to do.
His eyes widened and a sad feeling hit his stomach when Eru was getting up to leave. The Reyl got up from his seat quickly. "Must you leave so soon?" he asked. "I mean...the festivities have only started. There will be much more to come, you can stay and eat and enjoy the entertainment," he was grasping for things to keep the younger boy there. And he can be with me...
He could, couldn't he? The boy would have someone to be with, instead of just being alone. And being alone on a day of festivities was unacceptable.

Eru sighed and looked around, putting his drawing back into his bag. He tried to find reasons he couldn't stay, and then tried reasons why he could. His brain just wasn't working very well at that moment. He breathed out, making a stray strand of black hair fly up and back.
"I... I don't know..." he said slowly.

Luca trotted up behind Eru, leaning into his ear with a grin on his face. "What's not to know about?" He asked, a slight giggle in his voice. "If you go, you get to spend who knows how long on an empty, boring road with nothing to do but count stars. On the other hand," he leaned into the boy's other ear, stilling grinning playfully. "You get to have a whole night of fire-roasted meat, fresh water, and Reyl festivities with a whole group of happy Zercans just out to have a good time."

Eru almost jumped out of his skin, but his body settled for sending cold shivers down his spine. He laughed nervously, but it came out as an almost kit-like mewl. He covered his mouth with his hand and pulled at his robes.
"I don't mind the silence and stars... There's something in me that I'm somehow missing... and I need to find it before loneliness consumes my being..." he said. He didn't know why he was making up excuses, even though that was the honest truth.
He paused, "Unless YOU really want me to stay..." he said slowly, blush creeping up on his pale cheeks.

Wow, he thought, taken slightly aback by the response. That's kinda sad. There could have been a million things that the boy needed and he wasn't about to start guessing, trying to figure it out. Still, he had a few things in mind that might cheer the boy up, and they all revolved around a night of partying and eating till you passed out. He had trouble imagining any other way to completely unwind. Plus he wanted to see if he could get the boy to do that laughing-meowing thing he'd done again; it had made Luca giggle.
"Well of course, silly," he said, putting his hands on his hips. "It's boring and cold out there and you need to relax for a bit." He wrapped and arm around Eru's shoulders, pulling him back towards the bonfire and festivities.

Eru let himself be taken back, but the hole inside him screamed out at him to get a move on. He doubled over, making a new sound, one of a big cat in pain.
"But... I have to find the thing I am missing, or I may never be complete..." he gasped.
