Colan put in a call to his superiors and set about making a reservation at the Cafe Nebula, a floating restaurant that visited the Mage every other year.

Jordynn blinked. "What?" he frowned, looking at his son. "What's the matter Ri?"

"I'm, uh..." he gulped. "Pregnant."

Jordynn blinked. And then frowned, and then blinked again. "..What?" he asked, his brain not processing that his baby was having a baby. And how?!

"Um," Riordan gulped and ran a hand through his short hair. "I... took a guy home last night and... well, that fucker bit me and this morning the medi-tech says I
m pregnant. I don't even know this fucking guy and he's all on me talking about he's my mate and stuff." His face was red by the time he was finished.

Jordynn blinked. "So...I'm assuming this man is a Zercan?" he asked.

He nodded. "I'm sorry, dad."

"Don't apologize to me, kiddo. I'm disappointed but I'm happy you found your mate. The only thing you can do now is try to make it work."

"I don't want to. I don't want to deal with any of this crap," he ground out. "Its not fair that I am struck with some guy I don't even fucking know for the rest of my life like this."

Jordynn sighed. "You are so much like your mother. I know it's not fair that you didn't get to fall in love, and get the grand experience, but not everyone's mating is the same. This man, is probably going to get a bullet in the ass for fucking my son, but he is your mate."

"So I'm just supposed to bite the bullet and be with the guy because 'fate'," he rolled his eyes. "Picked him out for me? Life sucks. I should have went to Earth when I had the chance."

Jordynn looked at his son. "It's ultimately your choice, but you won't be happy without your mate, Ri. I know I wasn't when your Mother refused me."

Riordan huffed and looked away. Finally looking back to hsi dad, he said, "I just wanted to call and tell you so you could be disappointed in me without me being there to see how little you think of me now. I'll talk to you later." He said, flipping off the digi screen before his dad coudl say anything else.
