A Chance Meeting (Gabriel/Thor)

"Anytime," The half-Zercan answered with a grin, the utterance seeming rather natural to him. Though, why say such a thing when they would likely never see one another again? After his parents returned, the two would part and never cross paths again. When the thought occurred to him, he frowned slightly, but was quick to stifle the expression.

The sound of movement likewise had the man retracting his hand, turning his head to see the source. When he laid eyes on Aiden, it was fairly evident that this was the father than Thor had spoken of. He watched the two of them as they spoke briefly before offering Aiden his own warm smile. Gabe pushed himself to his feet and took a few steps closer before offering his hand out in greeting to the man.

"Gabe Steele," He offered his name with a friendly smile, "It's a pleasure to meet you." Afterwards, he turned slightly towards Thor. "It was a simple fix, so Thor has been keeping me company while I wait on my parents," Gabe gave a soft chuckle, "I hope you don't mind me stealing some of his time."

Aiden took Gabe’s hand in his string grip, grinning at the other “Nice to meet you, I’m Aiden Thor. I’m glad Thor could help and take as much of his time as you want, lord knows the boy needs more friends his age instead.” Thor flushed at his father’s words, embarrassed but he knew it was kind of true. He mostly spent his time in the garage, at home with his grandfather or at the orphanage.

Thor let the two speak for a while as he figured out how much the fix would cost. For a moment he was tempted to accept Gabe’s earlier offer to overcharge his father but he decided against it knowing the horrible guilty feeling he would get later. Thor had been quite bright when he was younger and it didn’t take long for him to figure out the cost. It wasn’t too expensive. He put the bill to the side and turned back to the other two.

Aiden turned to Thor “After this you can go home for the day, there’s not a lot to finish off and I can do that” Thor opened his mouth to protest but Aiden cut him off “You work too hard sometimes, go relax for a bit.” Thor sighed and nodded not sure what he was going to do to pass the time, Matthias was busy and his mother was taking his grandfather to the doctors for a check-up.

Gabe's eyebrows rose at the father's comment, looking to his side to see the blushing Thor before offering his own soft laugh. "Honestly, I'm in much the same boat myself. Birds of a feather, you know?" He offered up a grin to the blonde before his attention turned back to Aiden again. While Thor tended to the bill, Gabe had no problem chatting with his father. In fact, it was quite refreshing for the half-Zercan. A good majority of the people he spoke to on a daily basis were of the stiff, unfriendly, high-and-mighty variety. Just to chat with someone so unpretentious was very nice, indeed.

The brunette looked back to Thor when Aiden gave him leave to go home, and the thought of him leaving so suddenly had the hybrid boy a bit anxious, oddly enough. With only a second's hesitation, he spoke up again. "Actually, Thor, would you like to head out to lunch with me? Between rushing around and sabotaging the car, I haven't had a chance to even eat breakfast yet, and my parents shouldn't be back for some time yet," He smiled, "My treat, of course, for having to involve you in my family drama."

Thor paused for a moment, surprised by Gabe’s offer to take him out for lunch, before he smiled at the other. “Sure, I’d like that.” He stood from the desk and grabbed his bag from the side. He was happy the other had enjoyed his company and Thor also wanted to spend more time with Gabe. He knew that as soon as Gabe’s parents came back it was likely that they wouldn’t meet again. The sudden thought made Thor’s smile falter slightly and he didn’t know why, it wasn’t like the two were friends; they were strangers who just happened to get on well.

He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind, instead enjoying the moment. He walked over to Gabe “Shall we go then?” he asked before heading over to the door. It was warm outside and clear skies above them. Thor sighed enjoying the heat and fresh air, glad to be out of the stuffy garage for a while “So where do you want to go?”

"Great!" Gabe grinned as the other agreed to go, stepping back to let the other grab his things and get ready to leave. Even if it was just stepping out long enough to get lunch before they had to part ways, it was better than nothing.. And he would deal with the odd feeling of loss later. For now, he was just too pleased with how the day was turning out.

"Hmm. I can't say I've ever been to this side of town, so I'm not familiar with the area. And we should avoid anything too fancy, just in case my parents are there.." He trailed off, thinking for a second before looking to Thor, "What about you? Do you have a favorite place around here?"

Thor thought for a moment before nodding “There’s a small place nearby, I’ve been there a few times. It’s not too far.” Thor started to lead Gabe to the small restaurant. The old man who owned it was really friendly to everyone and the place had a really welcoming feeling. Thor smiled thinking about the place, he’d had a lot of good memories there.

“It’s one of my grandfather’s favourite places. We always come here for his birthday so the people who own it and the employees know us quite well.” As they continued to walk, Thor couldn’t help but steal glances at Gabe. It was then he suddenly felt a bit self-conscious, Gabe was probably used to all the finer things in life. He probably went to places much grander every day.

"Great!" Gabe answered with a grin, "Lead the way."

The half-Zercan fell in behind the other boy as he was lead, hands finding his pockets while his eyes wandered around, taking in their surroundings. It was all new and foreign to the man, but in a completely positive way. After all, he was a man that recognized and was grateful for his lot in life, but was content without all the tackiness and flamboyance of living a rich lifestyle.

"You know, I really like this part of town," He finally stated aloud, looking to Thor, "It reminds me of back home on Zerca.. Every now and then when my parents are too busy to notice, I sneak out downtown for a little while.. Past all the clubs and bars and fancy restaurants and cafes. I don't have to worry about anyone recognizing me there, so I don't have to worry about keeping up appearance, you know?"

Thor looked over at Gabe, what the man was saying caught his interest. “Zerca? Are you part Zercan?” Thor was also half-Zercan. Even though he was he’d only been to Zerca a few times when he was younger. Now they rarely went there to visit family. “I’m Half-Zercan, what’s it like? I’ve only been a couple of times.”

Thor continued to listen to Gabe realising how different there worlds were “I would be lying if I said I knew what that was like. I can imagine how it must have felt, like a weight was off your shoulders and you could relax for once, but I’ve never had that, people recognising me everywhere. It must get tiresome?”

Thor stopped outside the small restaurant and entered then waited to be seated.

"That I am," The male answered, a grin spreading onto his lips at the news and the other's question, "My mother is Zercan, and once he and my father met, they decided to move there. Now we only come back here every now and then, mostly for business." He shrugged, not really that affected by it. Truthfully, he found the planet intriguing, but Zerca was clearly where his heart was. "Scrijx Citi is nice. A lot to do, people everywhere.. Typical big city stuff, you know? The further away you get from downtown, though, the more interesting it gets.. to me, at least."

He turned his head to listen to Thor's response, giving the other a small amused smile. "Tiresome.. and annoying," He smirked, "It makes you really appreciate places like these--" He motioned towards the restaurant as they finally arrived, "--where you can eat your lunch in peace without all the ass-kissing and networking."

“I hope I can go sometime, to Scrijx Citi I mean.” Thor turned his attention to the waiter who smiled at them. “A table for two please, any where’s fine.” The man nodded and showed the two to a table by the window. Once they were sat down he handed them a menu each.

“Just let me know when you’re ready to order.” Thor smiled and nodded at the man. He looked down at the menu, he’d tried a lot of the things before and this time just decided on something simple.

“You said you only come here for business mainly, so how long are you staying this time? Ah you don’t have to tell me I was just…curious.” He had felt a little disappointed when the other said he lived on Zerca most of the time. It meant Thor had an even smaller chance of running into him.

Gabe listened intently as Thor spoke, looking away only when the waiter came to seat them. Finally, as they were being led back to his table, he got in his reply.

"If you ever wanted to go, I could pull some strings. It wouldn't be any problem, and I would actually like the company," He offered generously, though really, the offer was a bit selfish. What could he say? For some reason, the thought of having the other half-Zercan around more than this one chance encounter, especially in his own hometown, was infinitely appealing.

"Oh no, don't worry about it," The brunette assured him as he picked up the menu, scanning over it lightly as he answered, trying his best to mask the disappointment in his own voice as he was forced to think about leaving as well, "I believe I'll be leaving sometime around the end of this week. So.. three or four days?"

(I apologize for taking so long. >: I had a rough end-of-the-week/weekend and didn't have much time for Zerca. D: But I'm back now!)

Thor looked at Gabe, once again surprised by the other. “You’d do that? Take me to Zerca?” Thor felt his cheeks heat as he blushed, he smiled softly at Gabe “I-I’d like that.” He bit his bottom lip looking down at the table silently cursing his stutter but Gabe’s offer made his heart flutter.

Thor’s mood dropped when he heard that Gabe would be leaving in a few days. He tried not to let his disappointment show; he knew this is what was most likely going to happen anyway. “That’s not very long…” Thor trailed off not knowing what to say.

He was quiet for a while. He wanted to spend more time with Gabe before he left. After gathering the courage to ask Thor looked up from the table back at Gabe. “Do you have anything planned on those days?”
