Alex's nose scrunches up in frustration before he sighs, defeated, "Kitt... Whatever you say... I'm better at living with pain and regret than you are it seems, but if you won't be happy, my argument isn't worth it."

Kitt frowned at how defeated Alex sounded. His Alex was usually stronger. Kitt just couldn't take the separation any longer. "I love you . I can't be without you again. I seriously feel like I will die without you. Please, there has to be a way to make this work? Do they have any givers here at all?"

Alex smiles and then tilts his head, "Hey... Can you do anything like talk in my mind? Because I can change into a fire breathing lizard." He almost added "wanna see?" but stopped himself upon remembering where they are at. "I can talk in minds when I'm a lizard."

Kitt purring into their mind link. For the first time in a week, his body isn't aching anymore and his head isn't pounding anymore. With this link, we stay more than on a just talking level, Alex. I feel what you feel. You feel what I feel. And sometimes if it is really trained and used properly, I can practically see what you see. The link is just this amazing my love. I'm just glad to see that it works before a true mating bond.

Kitt knew that their shared moment couldn't last forever. But still, couldn't it be longer?
"Alex?" he whispered softly. "If at sometime your very life is threatened by my presence here, do what you have to do to be rid of me. I cannot live thinking that I was the reason you got killed." Kitt bravely offered. After a quickly choking swallow, he added, "Go my love. I'm not going anywhere."

Alex narrows his eyes at even the mere thought of Kitt being hurt in order for his survival, not again at least. But he just nods, "I will be back." And with that he morphs back into his dragon form and slips out, heading back for where he was meant to be...

Kitt sighs forlornly as his ever present headache settles back into his brain as his love gets farther and farther away. He actually groans as he hugs himself and closes his eyes against the pain of his loss. Now he once again wonders why he bothered learning that Alex was his mate...maybe it would have been best if...
